Description

Title of the invention: Waterproof housing configured to receive one or more components

[0001] The present invention relates to a sealed housing configured to receive one or more components to be cooled and a cooling fluid in which the one or more components are at least partially immersed.

[0002] It is known to cool electronic components, for example belonging to a computer server, by using a dielectric fluid in which these components are immersed. These components are, for this purpose, placed in sealed housings which must comply with predetermined dimensions, because these housings are then placed in a cabinet. The space available for means for sealing the housing is relatively limited.

[0003] The object of the invention is to propose a solution for closing a housing in a sealed manner without encroaching on the useful volume of the housing and without creating significant bulk on the housing.

[0004] The invention thus relates to a sealed housing configured to receive one or more components to be cooled and a cooling fluid in which the component(s) are at least partially immersed, this cooling fluid being in particular a dielectric fluid, the housing comprising: - a receptacle which receives the component(s), and comprising at least one receptacle hook; - a cover configured to tightly close the receptacle and comprising at least one cover hook; - a locking member comprising a rod; the at least one receptacle hook and the at least one lid hook being configured to be placed aligned one after the other when the lid closes the receptacle, so as to define a passage for the rod of the locking member within said hooks, the at least one receptacle hook and the at least one lid hook being further in opposition to each other so that once the rod of the locking member is inserted into the passage, the cooperation of the rod with the receptacle hook and the lid hook holds the lid on the receptacle.

[0005] The invention makes it possible to dispense with screws and threaded blocks to receive the screws, to close the cover on the receptacle. The invention makes it possible, thanks to the hook and rod system, to achieve the watertight closure of the housing with space-saving means which do not reduce the available internal volume of the housing. The invention also makes it possible to simplify operations when sealing the housing tightly.

[0006] In the present invention, the receptacle hook and the cover hook are arranged in opposition to each other in the sense that, when the rod of the locking member is inserted between these hooks, one of the hooks is on one side of the rod and the other of the hooks is on an opposite side of the rod.

[0007] Thus the presence of the rod prevents the receptacle hook and the cover hook from moving away from each other.

[0008] According to one aspect of the invention, the receptacle comprises a row of receptacle hooks which are aligned one after the other leaving a free space between two consecutive receptacle hooks.

[0009] According to one aspect of the invention, the cover comprises a row of cover hooks which are aligned one after the other leaving a free space between two consecutive cover hooks.

[0010] According to one aspect of the invention, the receptacle hooks are configured to be placed alternately with the row of lid hooks such that the hook of one of the rows occupies the space between two hooks of the other row.

[0011] According to one aspect of the invention, the receptacle hooks are all identical to each other.

[0012] According to one aspect of the invention, the cover hooks are all identical to each other.

[0013] According to one aspect of the invention, the cover or receptacle hook is in the form of a curved wall, in particular substantially half-cylindrical.

[0014] According to one aspect of the invention, once the rod of the locking member is inserted between the receptacle hooks and the cover hooks, the curved walls, in particular semi-cylindrical walls, of the hooks are arranged coaxially.

[0015] According to one aspect of the invention, the number of hooks in a row of receptacle hooks is between 2 and 10.

[0016] According to one aspect of the invention, the number of hooks in a row of cover hooks is between 2 and 10.

[0017] These numbers can of course be chosen to be greater than 10.

[0018] According to one aspect of the invention, the rod has an asymmetrical cross-section metric having a largest dimension and a smallest dimension, which are different from each other.

[0019] According to one aspect of the invention, the rod has an oval or oblong cross-section.

[0020] In particular, the rod has an asymmetrical cross-section having a greater large dimension and a smaller dimension, which are different from each other, and the rod of the locking member, on the one hand, and the receptacle hooks and the cover hooks, on the other hand, are positioned so that the larger dimension of the cross-section of the rod is oriented to: - in a locked position, create a gap between the free end of the receptacle hook and the free end of the cover hook and tighten the cover onto the receptacle, and - in an unlocked position, allow the free end of the receptacle hook to come together with the free end of the cover hook and release the stress between the cover and the receptacle.

[0021] According to one aspect of the invention, the rod is pivotable between an unlocked position in which the rod can be removed from the passage between the hooks (and the rod does not clamp the lid to the receptacle), and a locked position in which the rod constrains the hooks so as to clamp the lid to the receptacle. In this locked position, the rod is rotationally clamped in the passage, providing a locking function because a force sufficiently intense to dislodge the rod from its locked position is required. It is possible to add a locking device configured to assume a locking position in which the rod is rotationally blocked, to block rotation in addition to the aforementioned clamping force between the hooks.

[0022] According to one aspect of the invention, the rod of the locking member, on the one hand, and the receptacle hooks and the cover hooks, on the other hand, are positioned so that the largest dimension of the cross-section of the rod is parallel to a contact plane between the cover and the receptacle when the rod is in the unlocked position, the contact plane between the cover and the receptacle being the plane along which the cover comes to rest on the receptacle to close the housing, and the rod of the locking member, on the one hand, and the receptacle hooks and the cover hooks, on the other hand, are positioned so that the smallest dimension of the cross-section of the rod is parallel to the contact plane between the cover and the receptacle when the rod is in the locked position

[0023] According to one aspect of the invention, the rod of the locking member is configured to be rotated through an angle (A), in particular 90°, to move from the locked position to the unlocked position.

[0024] According to one aspect of the invention, the receptacle hook is formed in the extension of a side wall of the receptacle.

[0025] According to one aspect of the invention, when the rod of the locking member is inserted into the passage between the hooks, the free end of the receptacle hook and the side wall of the receptacle are located on two opposite sides of the rod.

[0026] According to one aspect of the invention, the cover hook is formed on an edge of a main wall of the cover.

[0027] According to one aspect of the invention, when the rod of the locking member is inserted into the passage between the hooks, the free end of the cover hook and the main wall of the cover are located on two opposite sides of the rod.

[0028] According to one aspect of the invention, the largest dimension of the cross-section of the rod is chosen so as, in the locked position, to generate a spacing between the free end of the receptacle hook and the free end of the cover hook.

[0029] According to one aspect of the invention, the receptacle comprises a tank configured to receive the component(s) to be cooled.

[0030] According to one aspect of the invention, the receptacle further comprises a bottom plate on which a cooling fluid channel plate is placed.

[0031] According to one aspect of the invention, the receptacle hook(s) are formed on a side wall extending the bottom plate.

[0032] According to one aspect of the invention, the side wall of the receptacle at least partially envelops a side wall of the tank over at least a certain height.

[0033] According to one aspect of the invention, the cover hook has a concavity directed towards the side of the main wall of the cover.

[0034] According to one aspect of the invention, the receptacle hook has a concavity directed towards the bottom of the receptacle.

[0035] According to one aspect of the invention, the housing comprises a seal interposed between the receptacle and the cover so as to create a seal between the inside and the outside of the housing.

[0036] According to one aspect of the invention, the seal is compressed when the receptacle and the cover are brought together in the locked position of the rod of the locking member.

[0037] According to one aspect of the invention, the cover moves closer to the receptacle when the rod is turned from the unlocked position to the locked position, with a displacement of at least 1 mm, in particular approximately 2 mm.

[0038] This movement causes the seal to compress and the lid to tighten onto the receptacle.

[0039] This provides good sealing of the closed housing.

[0040] In the invention, as long as the rod of the locking member is in the unlocked position, the cover is not forced to bear on the receptacle.

[0041] According to one aspect of the invention, the sealing gasket is placed on the rim of the tank and comes into contact with the main wall, in particular the flat wall of the cover.

[0042] According to one aspect of the invention, the locking member comprises, in addition to the rod, a crank formed in the extension of the rod.

[0043] According to one aspect of the invention, the crank makes a right angle with the rod.

[0044] According to one aspect of the invention, the crank is configured for gripping by an operator or machine to rotate the rod between the unlocked position and the locked position.

[0045] According to one aspect of the invention, the housing comprises a locking device configured to cooperate with the crank of the locking member.

[0046] According to one aspect of the invention, the locking device is configured to take an open position allowing the crank to be released and rotated, and a locking position in which the crank is locked in rotation.

[0047] According to one aspect of the invention, the locking device comprises a pivoting tab for engaging, in the locking position, on the crank to lock it.

[0048] According to one aspect of the invention, the locking member, in particular including the rod and the crank, is made of metallic material.

[0049] According to one aspect of the invention, the housing comprises two series of receptacle hooks / lid hooks, each series being produced on one edge of the sealed housing, in particular these two series being on two opposite and parallel edges of the housing.

[0050] Thus the compression of the cover on the receptacle can be done along two parallel edges of the housing. In this case, it is not necessary to provide a hinge of the cover on the housing.

[0051] According to one aspect of the invention, the waterproof housing is configured to be introduced into a cabinet using a sliding drawer of the cabinet.

[0052] According to one aspect of the invention, the electronic components placed in the housing(s) according to the invention are components of a computer server, or in English “CPU” (for “Central Processing Unit”).

[0053] According to one aspect of the invention, the housing comprises electrical connection elements between the interior and the exterior of the housing, to ensure the electrical connection between the electronic components and external devices.

[0054] According to one aspect of the invention, the receptacle is made at least partially of metal or plastic.

[0055] According to one aspect of the invention, the cover is made at least partially of metal or plastic.

[0056] The invention also relates to a method for closing / opening a sealed housing configured to receive one or more components to be cooled and a cooling fluid in which the component(s) are at least partially immersed, this cooling fluid being in particular a dielectric fluid, the housing comprising: - a receptacle which receives the component(s), and comprising at least one receptacle hook; - a cover configured to tightly close the receptacle and comprising at least one cover hook; - a locking member comprising a rod; the at least one receptacle hook and the at least one lid hook being configured to be placed aligned one after the other so as to define a passage for the rod of the locking member, the at least one receptacle hook and the at least one lid hook being further in opposition to each other so that once the rod of the locking member is inserted into the passage, the cooperation of the rod with the receptacle hook and the lid hook holds the lid on the receptacle; method comprising the following step: - insert the rod of the locking member into the passage and place it in a locked position so as to keep the cover closed on the receptacle.

[0057] To open the housing, the rod is moved, in particular turned, from the locked position to the unlocked position.

[0058] Other characteristics, details and advantages of the invention will emerge more clearly on reading the description which follows on the one hand, and an exemplary embodiment given for informational and non-limiting purposes with reference to the appended schematic drawings on the other hand, in which:

[0059] [Fig.l] [Fig.l] is a perspective representation, in exploded view, of a waterproof housing according to the invention;

[0061] [Fig.3] [Fig.3] is a schematic, sectional, detailed representation of the housing waterproof shown in Figures 1 and 2, in the unlocked position;

[0062] [Fig.4] [Fig.4] is a schematic, sectional, detailed representation of the waterproof housing illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, in the locked position;

[0063] [Fig.5] [Fig.5] is a schematic representation of the waterproof housing locking device illustrated in Figures 1 and 2.

[0064] The features, variants and the different embodiments of the invention may be combined with each other, in various combinations, provided that they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive. In particular, variants of the invention may be imagined comprising only a selection of features described below in isolation from the other features described, if this selection of features is sufficient to confer a technical advantage and / or to differentiate the invention from the prior art.

[0065] Figures 1 and 2 show a sealed housing 1 configured to receive components to be cooled 100 and a cooling fluid in which the components 100 are at least partially immersed, this cooling fluid being a dielectric fluid.

[0066] The components 100 placed in the housing 1 are electronic components of a computer server, or in English “CPU” (for “Central Processing Unit”).

[0067] The housing 1 comprises a receptacle 2 made of several parts, which receives the components 100. The receptacle 2 comprises two rows 31 of receptacle hooks 3. In each row 31, the receptacle hooks 3, which are identical, are aligned one after the other, leaving a free space 32 between two consecutive receptacle hooks 3.

[0068] The housing 1 further comprises a cover 4 configured to seal the receptacle 2.

[0069] The receptacle 2 is made at least partially of metal or plastic.

[0070] The cover 4 is made at least partially of metal or plastic.

[0071] The cover 4 comprises two rows 51 of cover hooks 5. In each row 51, the identical cover hooks 5 are aligned one after the other, leaving a free space 52 between two consecutive cover hooks 5.

[0072] The housing 1 also comprises two locking members 10 each comprising a rod 11 of axis X. Each locking member 10 is intended for one side of the housing 1.

[0073] The receptacle hooks 3 and the cover hooks 5 are configured to be placed aligned one after the other, alternately, when the cover 4 comes to close the receptacle 2, so as to define a passage 12 for the rod 11 of the locking member 10 within said hooks 3 and 5.

[0074] The receptacle hooks 3 and the cover hooks 5 are further opposed to each other so that once the rod 11 of the locking member 10 is inserted into the passage 12, the cooperation of the rod 11 with the receptacle hooks 3 and the cover hooks 5 holds the cover 4 on the receptacle 2.

[0075] The invention makes it possible, thanks to the hook and rod system, to achieve the watertight closure of the housing 1 with space-saving means which do not reduce the available internal volume of the housing 1. The invention also makes it possible to simplify the operations when watertight closing the housing 1.

[0076] In the present invention, the receptacle hooks 3 and the cover hooks 5 are arranged in opposition to each other in the sense that, when the rod 11 of the locking member 10 is inserted between these hooks, one of the hooks is on one side of the rod 11 and the other of the hooks is on an opposite side of the rod 11.

[0077] Thus the presence of the rod 11 prevents the receptacle hooks 3 and the hooks of cover 5 to move away from each other.

[0078] The receptacle hooks 3 are configured to be placed alternately with the row of cover hooks 5 so that the hook of one of the rows occupies the space between two hooks of the other row.

[0079] The cover hook 5 or receptacle hook 3 is in the form of a curved wall, here substantially in the form of a half-cylinder.

[0080] Once the rod 11 of the locking member 10 is inserted between the receptacle hooks 3 and the cover hooks 5, the curved, semi-cylindrical walls of the hooks are arranged coaxially along the X axis.

[0081] The number of hooks in a row 31 of receptacle hooks 3 is between 2 and 10.

[0082] The number of hooks in a row 51 of cover hooks 5 is between 2 and 10.

[0083] These numbers can of course be chosen to be greater than 10.

[0084] The rod 11 has an asymmetrical cross-section having a larger dimension LD and a smaller dimension SD, which are different from each other.

[0085] The rod 11 thus has an oval or oblong cross-section, as illustrated in Figures 2 to 4.

[0086] The rod 11 is pivotable between an unlocked position ([Fig.3]) in which the rod 11 can be removed from the passage 12 between the hooks (and the rod 11 does not clamp the cover 4 onto the receptacle 2), and a locked position ([Fig.4]) in which the rod 11 constrains the hooks so as to clamp the cover 4 onto the receptacle 2. In this locked position, the rod 11 is rotationally clamped in the passage 12, providing a locking function because a sufficiently intense force is required to dislodge the rod 11 from its locked position.

[0087] The rod 11 of the locking member, on the one hand, and the receptacle hooks 3 and the cover hooks 5, on the other hand, are positioned so that the largest dimension LD of the cross-section of the rod 11 is parallel to a contact plane PJ (visible in [Fig.4]) between the cover 4 and the receptacle 2 when the rod 11 is in the unlocked position.

[0088] The contact plane PJ between the cover 4 and the receptacle 2 is the plane along which the cover 4 comes to rest on the receptacle 2 to close the housing 1.

[0089] The rod 11 of the locking member, on the one hand, and the receptacle hooks 3 and the cover hooks 5, on the other hand, are positioned so that the smallest dimension SD of the cross-section of the rod 11 is parallel to the plane of contact between the cover 4 and the receptacle 2 when the rod 11 is in the locked position.

[0090] The rod 11 of the locking member 10 is configured to be rotated through an angle (A), here 90°, to move from the unlocked position ([Fig.3]) to the locked position ([Fig.4]).

[0091] The receptacle hooks 3 are formed in the extension of a side wall 22 of the receptacle 2.

[0092] When the rod 11 of the locking member 10 is inserted into the passage 12 between the hooks, the free end 35 of the receptacle hook 3 and the side wall 22 of the receptacle 2 are located on two opposite sides of the rod 11.

[0093] The cover hooks 5 are formed on an edge of a main wall 44 of the cover 4, or alternatively of a side wall of the cover 4.

[0094] When the rod 11 of the locking member 10 is inserted into the passage 12 between the hooks, the free end 55 of the cover hook 5 and the main wall of the cover 4 are located on two opposite sides of the rod 11.

[0095] The largest dimension LD of the cross-section of the rod 11 is chosen so as, in the locked position ([Fig.4]), to generate a spacing between the free end 35 of the receptacle hook 3 and the free end 55 of the cover hook 5.

[0096] The receptacle 2 comprises a tank 28 configured to receive the components to be cooled 100.

[0097] The receptacle 2 further comprises a base plate 29 on which is placed a plate 25 with cooling fluid channels. This plate 25 is connected for example to another cooling circuit.

[0098] The receptacle hooks 3 are formed on the side wall 22 extending the bottom plate 29.

[0099] The side wall 22 of the receptacle 2 at least partially envelops a side wall of the tank 28 over a certain height.

[0100] Each cover hook 5 has a concavity directed towards the side of the main wall of the cover 4.

[0101] The receptacle hook 3 has a concavity directed towards the bottom of the receptacle 2.

[0102] The housing 1 comprises a seal 40 interposed between the receptacle 2 and the cover 4 so as to create a seal between the inside and the outside of the housing 1.

[0103] The seal 40 is compressed when the receptacle 2 and the cover 4 are brought together in the locked position of the rod 11 of the locking member 10.

[0104] The cover 4 approaches the receptacle 2 when the rod 11 is turned from the unlocked position to the locked position, with a displacement of at least 1 mm, in particular approximately 2 mm.

[0105] This movement causes the compression of the seal 40, and the tightening of the cover 4 on the receptacle 2.

[0106] This provides good sealing of the closed housing 1.

[0107] In the invention, as long as the rod 11 of the locking member 10 is in the unlocked position, the cover 4 is not forced to bear on the receptacle 2.

[0108] The sealing gasket 40 is placed on the rim of the tank 28 and comes into contact with the main wall 44 of the cover 4.

[0109] The locking member 10 comprises, in addition to the rod 11, a crank 18 formed in the extension of the rod IL.

[0110] The crank 18 makes a right angle with the rod 11, and is configured for gripping by an operator or machine to rotate the rod 11 between the unlocked position and the locked position.

[0111] The housing 1 comprises, on each opposite side, a locking device 60 configured to cooperate with the cranks 18 of the locking members 10, as illustrated in [Fig.5].

[0112] The locking device 60 is configured to take an open position allowing the cranks 18 to be released and rotated, and a locking position in which the cranks 18 are locked in rotation.

[0113] The locking device 60 comprises a pivoting tab 61, having the shape of a rectangular frame, to engage, in the locking position, on the cranks 18 to lock them.

[0114] The locking device 60 is located on a face of the housing which corresponds to the small side of the rectangular periphery of the housing 1.

[0115] The locking member 10, including the rod 11 and the crank 18, is made of metallic material.

[0116] The housing 1 comprises two series of receptacle hooks 3 / cover hooks 5, each series being made on one edge of the sealed housing 1, these two series being on two opposite and parallel edges of the housing 1. These two opposite and parallel edges correspond to the long sides of the rectangular periphery of the housing 1.

[0117] Thus the compression of the cover 4 on the receptacle 2 can be done along two parallel edges of the housing 1.

[0118] The waterproof housing 1 is configured to be introduced into a cabinet using a sliding drawer of the cabinet.

[0119] The housing 1 comprises electrical connection elements between the inside and the outside of the housing 1, to ensure the electrical connection between the electronic components and external devices. These electrical connection elements are, for example, electrical plugs.

[0120] To close the housing in a sealed manner, the following step is implemented: - insert the rod 11 of the locking member 10 into the passage 12 and place it in a locked position so as to keep the cover 4 closed on the receptacle 2.

[0121] To open the housing 1, the rod 11 is turned from the locked position to the unlocked position.
