Abstract

Console (C) for a vehicle comprising:- a body (1) which comprises an upper part having an upper face comprising at least one part open towards the outside,- at least one armrest (3) covering a part of the upper face of said body, said armrest being liftable, and- a tray (2) resting substantially flat in the upper part of said body, at the level of at least a portion of the open part of the upper face of said body, occupying at least one intermediate position, andsaid tray (2) being movable in translation from at least one said intermediate position to a position under the armrest, andsaid tray being movable in tilting from at least one said intermediate position to a vertical or oblique storage position in the body of the console. Title of the invention: Console fitted for vehicle

[0001] The invention relates to a console for a vehicle, fitted in particular in the upper part of the console body.

[0002] The invention applies more particularly to motor vehicle consoles, in particular to central consoles located between two seats, in particular in row 1.

[0003] Center consoles are bulky pieces with storage that is not very practical to access from the top of the console.

[0004] The aim of the invention is to propose an arrangement of a console for a vehicle offering more practical storage or storage spaces.

[0005] For this purpose, the invention provides a vehicle console for a vehicle comprising: - a body which comprises an upper part having an upper face comprising at least one part open towards the outside, - at least one armrest covering a portion of the upper face of said body, said armrest being adjustable, and - a plate resting substantially flat in the upper part of said body, at the level of at least a portion of the open part of the upper face of said body, occupying at least one intermediate position, and said tray being movable in translation from at least one said intermediate position to a position under the armrest, and said tray being movable in tilting from at least one said intermediate position to a vertical or oblique storage position in the body of the console.

[0006] By "at least a portion of the open part of the upper face of said body" is meant that the upper face of the tray is flush in this portion or is located just below this portion in the console body, the tray being accessible from this open portion.

[0007] In particular, the console body is of elongated shape in a longitudinal direction, in particular of generally parallelepipedal shape. In particular, the plate is movable in translation between the longitudinal walls of the console body to occupy at least one intermediate position.

[0008] Preferably, said console body comprises several internal storage compartments, at least one of these compartments being located under the armrest and opening under the tray when the tray is in position under the armrest, and another of these compartments being located in another part of the console body and opening under the tray when the tray is in a said intermediate position. in particular, this other part of the console body is a substantially central part of the console body.

[0009] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the console body comprises at least one lateral groove for guiding the tray, in a vertical or oblique direction, in which the tray is guided in tilting towards its vertical or oblique storage position in the console body.

Advantageously, said at least one lateral rail for guiding the tray in translation is located internally in the upper part of the console body, close to the upper face of said body. Preferably, said rail comprises at least one raised edge which comprises a first translational guide part and a second translational guide part of the tray. Said first and second parts of the at least one raised edge are separated by a said vertical or oblique lateral guide groove in which the tray is guided in tilting towards its vertical or oblique storage position in the console body.

[0011] Preferably, the tray comprises at least one guide roller, and said lateral guide rail is hollow into which the at least one roller of the tray is inserted. In particular, the roller of the tray can rest on the raised edge of the rail. Preferably, the console body comprises two side guide rails, one on each side of the body, and the tray comprises two guide rollers respectively to the two rails.

[0012] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the tray comprises two opposite lateral edges, and said console body comprises two opposite lateral supports respectively receiving the lateral edges of the tray, each support comprising a first part for guiding in translation by sliding of a tray edge and a second part for guiding in translation by sliding of a tray edge. Said first and second support parts are separated by a hollow part located substantially at least above a said vertical or oblique lateral guide groove. The tray can thus be engaged in tilting in this hollow part towards the lateral guide groove.

It is easy to access from the upper face of the console body and provides access to the other internal storage spaces of the console. This tray can serve as a chest in combination with the armrest to leave objects there out of sight of passers-by. This tray can be stored by retracting it into the body of the console. It can be removable.

The console also comprises an armrest 3 covering a rear part of the upper face of the console body. The console comprises an open front compartment 14.

[0028] The movable tray 2 is hollow, not closed, it is accessible in the upper part of the console body in this so-called intermediate position, according to which it rests substantially flat in the upper part of the console body, at the level of a portion of the open part of the upper face of the console body. The upper face of the tray is located just below this portion in the console body, the tray being accessible from this open portion. The tray is thus placed above an interior compartment 15 of the console body. This compartment 15 thus opens in the upper part of the console body, in the open part of the upper face of the console body, under the tray 2. This tray 2 thus forms a pocket empty by placing it at the top of the console body.

This raised edge 110 is in two parts defining a first translation guide part 1101 and a second translation guide part 1102, which are separated from each other by a lateral guide groove 13 of the plate, of substantially oblique direction, hollowed out on the inner face of the side wall of the console body. The roller 22 of the tray engages in this groove 13 by tilting the tray 2, in particular when the tray 2 is substantially raised to the intermediate position (arrow F in [Fig.5]), towards its storage position inside the console body ([Fig.3]).

[0036] Furthermore, the tray 2 comprises two opposite longitudinal lateral edges, on each longitudinal side, only one of the edges 21 is visible in [Fig. 4]. The console body 1 internally comprises two opposite longitudinal lateral supports, in other words one support per longitudinal side, on which said lateral edges of the tray can respectively rest and allowing translational guidance by sliding of these edges. In [Fig. 4], only one of the supports is visible, each lateral support comprising a first support part 10 (rear part) and a second support part 10' (front part), which are separated by a central notch 12 communicating with the substantially oblique lateral guide groove 13. The tray 2 can thus engage in tilting in this notch 12 towards the oblique lateral guide groove 13, in particular when the tray 2 is substantially raised to the intermediate position (arrow F in [Fig.5]), to its storage position inside the console body ([Fig.3]).

[0037] It can be seen in Figures 3 and 5 that the console body comprises a transverse inner wall 160, which is oriented substantially obliquely in the direction of the oblique guide groove 13, and adjacent to one side of the groove 13, and said tray 2 in the storage position rests on said transverse inner wall 160. According to the example, this transverse wall 160 delimits the front of the compartment 16 under the armrest.

[0038] Furthermore, the guide rail 11, in other words the rear parts 1101 of the raised edge 111 of the guide rail 11, and the respective rear parts 10 of said lateral supports located inside the console body may comprise a downward sloping portion between the intermediate position and the position under the armrest that the tray 2 can occupy, allowing the tray to occupy a lower position under the armrest than the intermediate position, in order to leave more space between the tray and the armrest ([Fig.2]) for the objects placed on the tray, as mentioned above.

[0039] Alternatively or in combination with the above configuration, to have sufficient space in the vertical direction Z, between the tray and the armrest, the rail can be horizontal and the upper edge of the console body can be higher at the armrest so that the distance between the rail and the upper edge of the console body on which the folded armrest rests will be greater than the distance between the rail and the upper edge of the console body for the other intermediate positions of the tray,

[0040] Since the tray is guided on a rail, it can be positioned at any location along the rail in order to access the storage under the armrest and / or other storage internal to the console body. The tray of the console according to the invention can thus occupy various intermediate positions.

[0041] The invention provides a console offering judicious storage in terms of practicality, compactness and interactivity.

Claims

1. Console for a vehicle comprising: - a body (1) which comprises an upper part having an upper face comprising at least one part open towards the outside, - at least one armrest (3) covering a part of the upper face of said body, said armrest being liftable, and - a tray (2) resting substantially flat in the upper part of said body, at the level of at least a portion of the open part of the upper face of said body, occupying at least one intermediate position, and said tray (2) being movable in translation from at least one said intermediate position to a position under the armrest, and said tray being movable in tilting from at least one said intermediate position to a vertical or oblique storage position in the body of the console.

Console according to claim 1, characterized in that said console body (1) comprises several internal storage compartments, at least one of these compartments (16) of which is located under the armrest (3) and opens under the tray (2) when the tray is in position under the armrest, and another of these compartments (15) is located in another part of the console body and opens under the tray (2) when the tray is in a said intermediate position.

Console according to any one of claims 1 to 2, characterized in that the console body (1) comprises at least one lateral groove (13) for guiding the tray, in a vertical or oblique direction, in which the tray (2) is guided in tilting towards its vertical or oblique storage position in the console body.

Console according to claim 3, characterized in that the console body (1) comprises at least one lateral rail (11) for guiding the tray (2) in translation, said rail comprising at least one raised edge (110) which comprises a first part (1101) for guiding in translation and a second part (1102) for guiding the tray in translation, said first and second parts of the at least one raised edge being separated by a said lateral groove (13) for vertical or oblique guidance in which the tray is guided in tilting towards its vertical or oblique storage position in the console body.

5. Console according to claim 4, characterized in that the tray (2) comprises at least one guide roller (22), and said guide rail (11) is hollow into which the at least one roller of the tray is inserted.

Console according to any one of claims 3 to 5, characterized in that the tray (2) comprises two opposite lateral edges (21), and said console body (1) comprises two opposite lateral supports respectively receiving the lateral edges of the tray, each support comprising a first part (10) for guiding in translation by sliding of a tray edge and a second part (10') for guiding in translation by sliding of a tray edge, said first and second support parts being separated by a hollow part (12) located substantially at least above a said lateral groove (13) for vertical or oblique guidance.

Console according to one of claims 4 to 5 and claim 6, characterized in that the console body comprises two lateral guide rails (11), and - the lateral supports (10, 10') receiving respectively the lateral edges (21) of the tray are projecting respectively above the respective upper part of the lateral guide rails (11), and - the respective lower part of the lateral guide rails (11) is delimited by a said raised border (110).

Console according to one of claims 4 to 5 and one of claims 6 to 7, characterized in that the at least one guide rail (11) and the two lateral supports (21) of the console body each comprise at least one portion oriented in a downward slope towards the position under the armrest that the tray can occupy.

Console according to any one of claims 3 to 8, characterized in that said console body (1) comprises a transverse inner wall (160), oriented substantially in the direction of a said lateral groove (13) for vertical or oblique guidance and proximal to said lateral groove (13) for vertical or oblique guidance, and said tray (2) in the storage position in the body of the console resting on said inner transverse wall (160).

10. Motor vehicle comprising a console (C) according to any one of claims 1 to 9, and preferably said console being located between two seats.
