[0001] The present invention relates to hearing protection intended to limit the reach of sound waves into a user's ear canal. Technical background
[0002] Hearing protection devices usually consist of an earplug, which may or may not be mounted on a support. The support of a hearing protector may, for example, be a rod that facilitates the insertion of the plug into the user's ear.
[0003] The earplugs used in hearing protection can be made of soft materials such as silicones, or with hard materials such as resins. The use of a hard material or a soft material depends among other things on the preferences of the user and or the desired use of the hearing protection.
[0004] Such hearing protection devices can be used, for example, on industrial production lines to protect employees from the noise of production machines. In such use, it is common for the hearing protection devices to be connected to a safety cord to prevent their loss.
[0005] One of the disadvantages of existing hearing protection concerns its modularity.
[0006] Also, prior art hearing protectors can be difficult to install and position in the ear canal, making them uncomfortable for a user to wear.
[0007] The aim of the invention is therefore to propose hearing protection which overcomes the aforementioned drawbacks by offering greater modularity in order to adapt to different uses according to the wishes and needs of the user. Summary of the invention

[0023] In the following description, identical, similar or analogous elements will be designated by the same reference numbers.
[0024] [Fig.l] illustrates a hearing protection kit 100 comprising a hearing protection 10 intended to reduce the entry of a sound wave to the eardrum of a user and comprising an accessory 110, here a safety cord intended to be connected to the hearing protection 10.
[0025] According to another example, the accessory may be a metal detection insert making it possible to detect the hearing protection in the event of loss.
[0026] The hearing protection 10 visible in [Fig.4] comprises at least one plug 12 intended to be placed in the user's ear, an intermediate piece 14 and a main body 16 arranged between the intermediate piece 14 and the plug 12 and participating in securing the plug 12 to the intermediate piece 14.
[0027] The stopper 12 can be made of different materials, for example resin or a rubbery material or a silicone-type material, depending on the desired Shore hardness index of the stopper 12.
[0028] Thus, in the remainder of the description, the distinction will be made between a hard stopper 12a made of a so-called hard material and a soft stopper 12b made of a so-called soft material. The meaning of the terms “hard” and “soft” will be detailed later in the remainder of the description. Furthermore, it should be considered that when characteristics apply indifferently to a stopper made of a hard material and a stopper made of a soft material, the term stopper 12 will be used.
[0029] The advantage of such hearing protection 10 is in particular to allow the use of plugs 12, 12a, 12b made of different materials according to the needs of the user, in particular, plugs having different Shore hardness indices.
[0030] The technical and structural means allowing the modularity of the choice of the stopper will be described later in the detailed description.
[0031] As seen in Figures 1 and 2, the intermediate piece 14 comprises a sleeve 18 and a ring 20.
[0032] In particular, the sleeve 18 of the intermediate piece 14 extends along a main extension axis P and comprises a first longitudinal end 22 at the end of which the ring 20 extends and a second longitudinal end 24 on which a gripping member 26 is mounted by a pivot connection 28.
[0033] The pivot connection 28 allows, among other things, the rotation of the gripping member 26 relative to the intermediate piece 14.
[0034] According to a non-limiting example, the gripping member 26 is formed of two distinct branches 30.
[0035] More precisely, each of the branches 30 of the gripping member 26 extends along a distinct branch axis B1, B2, the branch axes B1, B2 being intersecting with each other.
[0036] The branches 30 of the gripping member 26 then each comprise a free end 32.
[0037] It is further understood that, the branch axes B1, B2 being intersecting, the branches 30 join to form a common end 34 of the branches 30 of the gripping member 26.
[0038] Thus, the gripping member 26 is secured to the sleeve 18 of the intermediate piece 14 at the level of the common end 34 of its branches 30 and via the pivot connection 28.
[0039] According to a non-limiting example visible in [Fig.2], the pivot connection 28 is formed by an insert 36.
[0040] Insert 36 is understood to mean an element independent of the intermediate piece 14 and the gripping member 26. In other words, the insert 36 is not integral with the intermediate piece 14 and the gripping member 26.
[0041] The insert 36 is here a rod which extends along an axis parallel to the main extension axis P of the sleeve 18 when it forms the pivot connection 28 between the gripping member 26 and the sleeve 28.
[0042] Thus, according to this example of the pivot connection 28, the insert 36 comprises a first axial end 38 which comprises a hemispherical stud 40 capable of cooperating with a first complementary housing 42, for example hemispherical, formed in one or the other of the sleeve 28 or the gripping member 26 and comprises a second axial end 44 comprising a ball joint 46 capable of cooperating with a second complementary housing 48, for example spherical, formed in the other of the sleeve 18 or the gripping member 26.
[0043] More precisely, the first complementary housing 42 and the second complementary housing 48 are formed in one or the other of the second longitudinal end 24 of the sleeve 18 or the common end 34 of the gripping member 26 and in such a way that they have a complementary shape with the axial ends 38, 44 of the insert 36.
[0044] In the example illustrated, the first complementary housing 42 of hemispherical shape is formed in the common end 34 of the gripping member 26 and the second complementary housing 48 of spherical shape is formed in the second longitudinal end 24 of the sleeve 18.
[0045] Thus and according to the example illustrated, it is understood that the cooperation between the first complementary housing 42 and the hemispherical stud 40 of the insert 36 makes it possible to form an axial retention of the insert 36 relative to the gripping member 26, considering the main extension axis P of the sleeve 18, in which the first complementary housing 42 is formed.
[0046] Furthermore, it is also understood that the cooperation between the ball joint 46 and the second complementary housing 48 formed in the sleeve 18, forms an axial retention of the insert 36 relative to the sleeve 18 and allows the pivoting of the gripping member 26 relative to the sleeve 18 around an axis of rotation R parallel to the main extension axis P of the sleeve 18.
[0047] Advantage is also taken of the pivot connection 28 as just described according to the example of [Fig.2] in that the ball joint 46 allows easy separation between the gripping member 26 and the intermediate piece 14.
[0048] In other words, when a force is exerted on the gripping member 26 along the axis of rotation R and opposite the intermediate piece 14, the ball joint 46 housed in the second complementary housing 48 will preferentially become detached from the connection between the hemispherical stud 40 of the insert 36 and the first complementary housing 42.
[0049] Thus, the insert 36 comprising the ball joint 46 which cooperates with the second complementary housing 48 formed in the sleeve 18, allows easy removal of the gripping member 26 by the user without risk of loss of the insert 36.
[0050] According to another example of the invention, visible in [Fig. 3], the gripping member 26 comprises an axial extension 50 which extends from the common end 34.
[0051] The axial extension 50 comprises a free end, opposite the member of gripping 26, on which the ball joint 46 is formed and in such a way as to form the pivot connection 28.
[0052] The ball joint 46 of the axial extension 50 is then able to be housed in the second complementary housing 48 formed in a complementary manner on the second longitudinal end 24 of the sleeve 18 of the intermediate piece 14.
[0053] Thus it is understood that, via the ball joint 46 of its axial extension 50, the gripping member 26 is able to follow a rotary movement around the axis of rotation R parallel to the main extension axis P of the sleeve 18, as described previously.
[0054] It should also be considered that, in a non-limiting manner and not illustrated, the axial extension may extend from the second longitudinal end of the sleeve and in such a way that its free end carrying the ball joint cooperates with the first complementary housing formed in the common end of the gripping member.
[0055] It should also be considered that the complementary housings formed in one and / or the other of the sleeve and / or the gripping member may take any other shape than hemispherical and / or spherical as long as their shape allows their cooperation with the axial ends of the insert or the axial extension, as described previously.
[0056] As visible in Figures 1 to 4, a fixing recess 52 is formed at the free end 32 of each of the branches 30 of the gripping member 26, the fixing recesses 52 being capable of receiving an end piece 54 of the accessory 110, visible in Figures 1 and 2.
[0057] The fixing recesses 52 here take, and in a non-limiting manner, the form of a spherical recess.
[0058] In particular, the second complementary housing 48 formed in the sleeve 18 and the fixing recesses 52 have an identical shape.
[0059] Thus, the end piece 54 of the accessory 110 may comprise one end in the shape of a spherical stud such that it cooperates indifferently with the fixing recesses 52 formed in the free ends 32 of the branches 30 of the gripping member 26 or with the second complementary housing 48, here of spherical shape, formed in the second longitudinal end 22 of the sleeve 18.
[0060] It is further understood that the end piece 54 as just described with its end in the form of a spherical stud is advantageous in that it allows easy removal of the fixing recesses 52 or of the second complementary housing 48 formed in the second longitudinal end 22 of the sleeve 18, as has been described previously for the ball joint of the insert.
[0061] Furthermore, advantage is taken of the shape of the gripping member comprising two separate branches each with a fixing recess in that it makes it possible to fix two separate accessories on the hearing protection, for example a safety cord and a metal detection insert.
[0062] Also, advantage is taken of the pivot connection between the gripping member and the intermediate piece in that the mobility of the gripping member relative to the intermediate piece facilitates the positioning of the hearing protection in the user's ear and also makes it possible to adjust the angular position of the gripping member, for example to adapt to the wearing of safety equipment such as a helmet.
[0063] As seen in [Fig.5], the ring 20 of the intermediate piece 14 has a cylindrical shape for which an axis of revolution A is defined.
[0064] More precisely, the axis of revolution A of the ring 20 is perpendicular to the main extension axis P of the sleeve 18 of the intermediate piece 14.
[0065] The cylindrical ring 20 then comprises an internal wall 58 which delimits an internal volume 60 of the ring 20.
[0066] As seen in [Fig.4], the ring 20 is mounted around the main body 16.
[0067] It is understood in particular that the ring 20 is configured such that its internal volume 60 receives at least in part the main body 16.
[0068] The cooperation between the ring 20 and the main body 16 will be described later in the detailed description.
[0069] The main body 16, particularly visible in figures 4 and 6, has a substantially cylindrical shape around a cylinder axis X, and comprises an internal part 62 and an external part 64.
[0070] More particularly, the internal part 62 is defined as the part of the main body 16 intended to be housed in the plug 12, and the external part 64 is defined as the part of the main body 16 intended to extend outside the plug 12.
[0071] The internal part 62 and the external part 64 of the main body 16 are opposite each other along the cylinder axis X.
[0072] As visible in [Fig.6], the external part 64 comprises a substantially cylindrical receptacle 66 delimited by an internal face 68.
[0073] An external face 70 of the main body 16 is then defined, radially opposite the internal face 68 of the external part 64 of the main body 16.
[0074] The fixing ring 20 is mounted around the external part 64 of the main body 16.
[0075] More precisely and in relation to figures 4 and 5, the ring 20 is mounted around the external part 64 of the main body 16 in such a way that the internal wall 58 of the ring 20 extends opposite the external face 70 of the main body 16, around its external part 64.
[0076] As seen in [Fig.6], the inner part 62 and the outer part 64 are axially separated from each other by a radial wall 72 which projects from the external face 70 of the main body 16.
[0077] Thus, it is understood that the radial wall 72 forms an axial stop for the ring 20 when it is mounted around the external part 64 of the main body 16 as mentioned previously.
[0078] Furthermore, the external part 64 of the main body 16 comprises ribs 74 which extend axially along the external face 70.
[0079] The ribs 74 of the external part 64 of the main body 16 are in particular capable of cooperating with internal grooves 76 formed on the internal wall 58 of the ring 20 and visible in [Fig.5].
[0080] More precisely, the internal wall 58 of the ring 20 comprises a circular excess thickness 78 projecting radially towards the axis of revolution A of the ring 20, and in which the internal grooves 76 are formed which extend axially.
[0081] It is then understood that the cooperation between the ribs 74 of the external part 64 of the main body 16 with the internal grooves 76 of the ring 20 forms angular stops of the ring 20 relative to the main body 16.
[0082] Furthermore, the circular excess thickness 78 of the ring 20 is delimited axially by two peripheral edges 80 of which an upper peripheral edge 80a and a lower peripheral edge 80b are defined.
[0083] The lower peripheral edge 80b of the circular excess thickness 78 is notably configured to be in contact with the radial wall 72 of the main body 16 mentioned previously, so as to form an axial stop of the ring 20 on the main body 16.
[0084] As seen in [Fig.6], an axial end of the external part 64 of the main body 16 comprises a rim 82 forming an axial shoulder facing the radial wall 72 of the main body 16.
[0085] It is then understood from the above that the axial shoulder formed by the rim 82 of the external part 64 of the main body 16, forms an axial stop of the ring 20 of the intermediate piece 14 by cooperation with the upper peripheral edge 80a of the ring 20, mentioned previously and visible in [Fig.5].
[0086] The internal portion 62 of the main body 16 is configured to be housed in a cavity 84 of the plug 12.
[0087] In particular, the internal part 62 of the main body 16 comprises fixing fins 86 which extend radially projecting from the external face 70.
[0088] According to the illustrated example, the main body 16 comprises three fixing fins 86 which extend in radial projection from an axial end of the internal part 62.
[0089] According to the example illustrated, the fixing fins 86 have a truncated end so as to form a flat end of the fixing fins 86.
[0090] In other words, the fixing fins 86 each have a trapezoidal shape.
[0091] The fixing fins 86 of the main body 16 ensure in particular the fixing of the main body 16 with the cap 12 by a bayonet type fixing.
[0092] A bayonet-type attachment is understood to mean an attachment comprising a step of axial insertion then a step of rotation or radial insertion of one part relative to another, here the main body relative to the cap.
[0093] According to a first example visible in figures 6 and 7, the cavity 84 of the plug 12a has a shape complementary to the shape of the fixing fins 86 so as to allow their axial insertion into the cavity 84.
[0094] According to this example, the stopper 12a is made of a hard material, that is to say a material having a Shore D hardness index of between 50 and 100. For example and in a non-limiting manner, the stopper 12a can be made of a resin-type material.
[0095] For example, the cavity 84 of the plug 12a has a shape substantially of a triangular prism, coaxial with the cylinder axis X of the main body 16.
[0096] Such a complementarity of shape between the cavity 84 of the plug 12a and the fixing fins 86 allows the insertion of the internal part 62 of the main body 16 into the cavity 84 without deformation of the plug 12a.
[0097] It should also be considered that the fixing fins 86 and the cavity 84 of the plug 12a could take any other shape and that the main body 16 could comprise more or less than three fixing fins, as long as the shape of the cavity of the plug and the fixing fins allow their cooperation by axial translation as described above.
[0098] An inlet opening 88 of the cavity 84 and a bottom 90 of the cavity 84 are defined, axially opposite one another, considering the cylinder axis X.
[0099] According to the first example and particularly visible in [Fig.7], notches 92 are formed radially on the periphery of the bottom 90 of the cavity 84 of the plug 12a.
[0100] In particular, three sides of the cavity 84 are defined in the shape of a triangular prism.
[0101] The plug 12a then comprises three notches 92 formed in the radial thickness of each of the sides of the cavity 84 and such that the notches 92 form axial retainers of the fixing fins 86 when the plug 12a is mounted on the main body 16.
[0102] Thus, it is understood that the fixing of the main body 16 in the plug 12a is carried out initially by an axial insertion of the fixing fins 86 in the cavity 84 of the plug 12a by complementarity of shape with the latter and in such a way that the fixing fins 86 are at least partly in contact with the bottom 90 of cavity 84.
[0103] In a second step, once the fixing fins 86 are in contact at least in part with the bottom 90 of the cavity 84, the main body 16 is rotated around its cylinder axis X so that the fixing fins 86 are housed in the peripheral notches 92 of the cavity 84 of the plug 12a.
[0104] The fixing fins 86 are thus axially locked in position in the notches 92 of the cavity 84 of the plug 12a.
[0105] According to another example visible in figures 8 and 9, the hearing protection comprises an insert 94.
[0106] In particular, the insert 94 here has a disc shape.
[0107] According to this example, the plug 12b is made of a flexible and elastically deformable material.
[0108] For example, the stopper 12b according to this example is made of a material having a Shore A hardness of between 20 and 80. Such a material may for example be a silicone material.
[0109] According to this example, the cavity 84 of the plug 12b is formed of a first inlet cylinder 84a having a first diameter DI and is continued axially by a second bottom cylinder 84b having a second diameter D2 strictly greater than the first diameter D1.
[0110] More precisely, the second bottom cylinder 84b has a second diameter D2 substantially identical to a third diameter D3 of the insert 94 in the form of a disc.
[0111] It is then understood that the second bottom cylinder 84b and the insert 94 have a complementarity of shape and dimensions. Thus, the insert 94 is intended to be housed in the second bottom cylinder 84b of the cavity 84 of the plug 12b.
[0112] Furthermore, the first diameter D1 of the first inlet cylinder 84a is substantially equal to an external diameter of the internal part 62 of the main body 16.
[0113] It is then understood that the insert 94 is inserted into the second bottom cylinder 84b by deformation of the first inlet cylinder 84a whose first diameter D1 is strictly less than the third diameter D3 of the insert.
[0114] In this way, once the insert 94 is positioned in the second bottom cylinder 84b, said insert 94 is locked in position in the cavity 84 of the plug 12b.
[0115] The insert 94 comprises axial receiving zones 96 for the fixing fins 86 and axial retention zones 98 for the fixing fins 86, adjacent to the axial receiving zones 96.
[0116] More precisely, the insert 94 comprises three axial receiving zones 96 each capable of axially receiving one of the fixing fins 86 of the main body 16.
[0117] Each of the three axial receiving zones 96 is adjacent to one of the axial retention zones 98 formed by a retention wall 120 which extends radially, considering the cylinder axis X.
[0118] Thus, it is understood that, in a position of fixing of the main body 16 relative to the plug 12b, the fixing fins 86 extend axially in line with the retention walls 120 such that they are axially locked in position in the cavity 84 of the plug 12b.
[0119] According to this exemplary embodiment, the fixing of the main body 16 in the cavity 84 of the plug 12b is carried out initially by an axial insertion of the fins into the insert 94 through the first inlet cylinder 84a by elastic deformation of the latter, up to the second bottom cylinder 84b and in such a way that the fixing fins 86 are received in the axial reception zones 96 of the insert 94.
[0120] In a second step, the main body 16 is rotated around its cylinder axis X so that the fins are housed under the retention walls 100 of the axial retention zones 98 radially adjacent to the axial reception zones 96.
[0121] The main body 16 is thus secured to the cap 12b by a bayonet-type fixing via the insert 94.
[0122] It is then understood from the above that the hearing protection is advantageous in that it can be adapted to plugs made of different materials, flexible or hard, by means of its fixing fins capable of cooperating with the notches in the cavity of the plug or with the axial retention zones of the insert received in the plug, by a bayonet type fixing.
[0123] As seen in [Fig.7], the plug 12 comprises a through channel 122 which extends from the bottom 90 of the cavity 84 to an end of the plug opposite the cavity 84.
[0124] Such a channel 122 ensures in particular the fluid communication between the auditory canal of the user's ear and the external environment.
[0125] As seen in [Fig.4], the hearing protection 10 comprises a cover 102 of an acoustic assembly 121 which forms an acoustic filter received in the receptacle 66, particularly visible in [Fig.6] and delimited by the internal face 68 of the external part 64 of the main body 16.
[0126] In particular, the receptacle 66 comprises lugs 104 projecting from the internal face 68 and capable of cooperating with a concave surface 106 of the cover 102 of the acoustic assembly 121.
[0127] It is then understood that the cover 102 of the acoustic assembly 121 is locked in position in the receptacle 66 via a clip-on attachment with the lugs 104.
[0128] Such a cover 102 of the acoustic assembly 121 makes it possible in particular to block in position in the receptacle 66 the various elements making up the acoustic assembly 121 and which make it possible to filter the sounds upstream of the channel 122 of the plug 12 and coming from the external environment.
