[0001] In one aspect, the disclosure provides a method of applying a composition to a set of eyelashes of a subject, the method comprising: positioning a device for applying the composition to the set of eyelashes at a start point of a gesture for applying the composition to the set of eyelashes; activating the device for activation and execution of the gesture to apply the composition to the set of eyelashes; and positioning the device at an end point of the gesture, at which point the device ceases application of the composition to the set of eyelashes.

Existing approaches for applying compositions to eyelashes are unsatisfactory for various reasons, such as non-targeted application to the skin or other surface, detachment of the composition from the eyelashes, and uneven distribution of the composition along the eyelashes. Accordingly, there is a need for overall improved approaches for applying compositions to eyelashes, including approaches that ensure accurate and precise application, and that configure the eyelashes for superior adhesion with the composition once applied. The present disclosure addresses these and other long-unmet needs in the art.
[0029] Accordingly, in one aspect, the disclosure provides a device for applying a composition to a set of eyelashes that includes a dispensing system comprising elements for mixing and pumping the composition within the device during use, and an application system comprising elements for heating and extruding the composition from the device, at the time of application, during use. The device may include intelligent control elements, such as monitoring and control circuitry, for monitoring the application process and controlling the dispensing system, the application system and other elements, to ensure that the composition is applied within a working space that includes a length of an eyelash and, optionally, an extension length that extends beyond the natural end of the eyelash.The working space defines a distance, space or volume within which the composition must be applied to the eyelashes during use of the device.

Claims
1. Method (8) for applying a composition to a set of eyelashes of a subject, the method comprising: - positioning (8c) a device (1; 3) for applying the composition to the set of eyelashes at a starting point of a gesture for applying the composition to the set of eyelashes; - activating (8b) the device (1; 3) for activating and executing the gesture for applying the composition to the set of eyelashes; and - positioning (8e) the device (1; 3) at an end point of the gesture, at which point the device (1; 3) stops applying the composition to the set of eyelashes.
2. A method (8) according to claim 1, wherein the activation (8b) causes the device (1; 3) to: mix a plurality of formulas (2a, 2b, 2c) to produce the composition, pump the composition through an internal volume of the device (1; 3), heat the composition within the internal volume, extrude the composition from an extruded outlet (If, 3f) of the device (1; 3) which is fluidically connected to the internal volume, or any combination thereof.
3. The method (8) of claim 1, wherein a sensor (Ij; 3j) of the device (1; 3) detects the positioning of the device at the start point and signals the circuitry of the device to initiate extrusion of the composition from the extruded outlet (If, 3f) at the start point of the gesture; the sensor (Ij; 3j) detects the movement of the device during execution of the gesture and signals the device to continue extrusion of the composition from the extruded outlet (If, 3f) during execution of the gesture; and the sensor (Ij; 3j) detects the positioning of the device (1; 3) at the end point of the gesture and signals the circuitry of the device to terminate at least the extrusion of the composition from the extruded outlet (If, 3f) at the end point of the gesture.
4. The method (8) of claim 1, wherein a set of device motion values, a set of device orientation values, or both, placed between the gesture start point and the gesture end point, define a workspace in which extruding the composition from the device (1; 3) applies the composition to all of the eyelashes.
5. The method (8) of claim 4, further comprising: selecting a desired length of the composition on the set of eyelashes that corresponds to the set of movement values of the device.
6. A method (8) according to claim 5, wherein the selection of the desired length of the composition on the set of eyelashes is carried out at least in part by means of an input to a computing device which is operatively connected to the device (1; 3).
7. The method (8) of claim 6, further comprising: capturing an image of at least the subject's set of eyelashes with a camera of the computing device or an optical system (3v) of the device (3); selecting the desired length of the composition comprising selecting an overlay image shown by the computing device that illustrates a virtual representation of the desired length of the composition over the image of the subject's set of eyelashes, the selection of the overlay image constituting at least a portion of the input to the computing device; the input to the computing device enabling the computing device to transmit a signal to the device to configure the device for application of the composition to the set of eyelashes within the workspace.

The method (8) of claim 1, further comprising: reversibly attaching a formula pack (2) comprising a plurality of formulas (2a, 2b, 2b) to the device (1; 3), the formula pack (2) being for delivering the plurality of formulas (2a, 2b, 2b) to a mixer (In, 3n) of the device (1; 3) for producing the composition; the plurality of formulas (2a, 2b, 2b) comprising: a resin formula and a curing formula.
9. A method (8) according to claim 1, further comprising: contacting a plurality of bristles of the device (1; 3) with the set of eyelashes for applying the composition thereto; contacting a plurality of conductive bristles (1e, 3c) of the device (1; 3) with the set of eyelashes for transferring at least a portion of an electrical charge to the set of eyelashes, so that the set of eyelashes is primed to facilitate the adhesion of the composition thereto; or both.
10. A method (8) according to claim 1, the method being carried out at least in part by providing instructional material for teaching a method of using the device (1; 3) to a user; the instructional material being provided to the user as part of a kit; and the kit comprising the device (1; 3) for applying the composition to the set of eyelashes, a formula (2a, 2b, 2c) or formula pack (2), an element for repairing or modifying the device (1; 3), or any combination thereof.
