Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Device forming a quick attachment in two connection parts, intended to fix a tool to the end of the arm of a machine
[0001] The present invention relates to a device forming a quick coupling in two connection parts, intended to fix a tool, such as a bucket, to the end of the arm of a machine, such as a hydraulic excavator or the like, the first part being intended to be fixed to the bucket and comprising a trunnion, respectively a coupling hook, the second part being intended to be fixed to the arm and comprising a hook, respectively a trunnion, intended to couple to the trunnion, respectively hook, of the first part, the second part comprising a slidingly mounted locking plate and biased by spring means, and the first part comprising a locking hook projecting from the first part on the opposite side of which the trunnion, respectively hook, projects, the locking hook being intended to pass through a through opening formed in the sliding locking plate to hook onto an edge of the opening after sliding of the locking plate to ensure the locking of the quick-attachment device, and therefore the attachment of the bucket to the machine.
[0002] Devices forming quick fasteners of this type are already known, for example, from FR2809709 or FR2946061.
[0003] We want to further improve the security of this type of device.
[0004] According to the invention, a quick-attach device, intended to fix a tool, such as a bucket, to the end of the arm of a machine, such as a hydraulic excavator or the like, comprising a first connection part intended to be fixed to the bucket and a second connection part intended to be fixed to the arm, the first part comprising a base plate having a front edge and a rear edge, a coupling pin, respectively a hook, coming from the lower face of the base plate and a locking hook coming from the upper face of the base plate, the second part comprising a hook, respectively a pin, intended to couple to the coupling pin, respectively to the hook, of the first part and a slidingly mounted locking plate stressed by spring-forming means, the locking hook of the first part being intended to pass through a through opening formed in the sliding locking plate of the second part to hook onto an edge of the opening after sliding of the locking plate to ensure the locking of the quick-release device, is characterized in that the front edge of the base plate of the first part defines a notch, in particular of flared shape.
[0005] Preferably, the locking hook has a shank portion and a head portion projecting laterally from the shank portion in the forward direction, and the notch extends vertically above the head portion of the locking hook, in particular up to the shank portion.
[0006] By providing such a notch at the front, it is ensured that earth or other waste does not get inserted, when locking the quick coupler, between the two connection parts, thus preventing the locking plate from sliding only imperfectly under the locking hook, giving the illusion of a locking which is in fact not fully achieved and which in the case of shocks or vibrations during operation of the machine can result in the unhooking and falling of the tool imperfectly locked to the arm of the machine. This ensures a quick coupler of much greater safety of use.
[0007] Preferably, the first connection part comprises at least one rear leg, in particular two left and right rear legs, in the form of coupling hooks, intended to couple to a journal of the second connection part.
[0008] According to a favorable embodiment, the front edge is notched, comprising a central section and two sections respectively right and left inclined relative to the central section, in particular at an angle of between 30° and 60°, in particular 45°, so as to form the notch.
[0009] Preferably, the front edge defines two left and right front promontories on either side of the notch.
[0010] According to a favorable embodiment, in rear-front longitudinal section, each promontory comprises an upper end section of curved shape, in particular in an arc of a circle, having its concavity facing downwards.
[0011] According to a favorable embodiment, the two left and right promontories end in two outgrowths, respectively right and left.
[0012] In particular, in rear-front longitudinal section, each protrusion comprises, from the lower surface of the base plate, a curved end section having its concavity facing downwards, preceded by a curved intermediate section having its concavity facing upwards, itself preceded by a vertical, or substantially vertical, rectilinear section, for example making an angle of 5° to 10° with the vertical, extending to the upper face of the base plate.
[0013] Preferably, left and right lateral shoulders are formed on the upper surface of the base plate of the first part, which define flow channels, respectively left and right, which extend between the rear and front edges, and through which water and / or earth and / or other waste can flow.
[0014] In particular, seen from above, the inner side walls of the shoulders each comprise a rear section, an intermediate section and a front section, the front ends of the intermediate sections being closer to the longitudinal central axis of the base plate than are the rear ends.
[0015] Preferably, the upper surfaces of the shoulders slope downward from the outside to the inside.
[0016] According to a favorable embodiment, at the front end of the second connection part, two stops, respectively left and right, protrude from the lower face of the base plate.
[0017] Preferably, at least a portion of the rear face of each stop comprises a surface of complementary shape to the upper end surface of each promontory so that the promontories and the stops are in surface contact in the locking position of the device, and in particular there is formed in each stop a respective notch of complementary shape to that of the protrusions of the first portion, so that these protrusions are received inside these notches in the locking position of the device.
[0018] In particular, a respective region is formed in each stop having a surface of complementary shape to the upper end surface of the promontories of the first part, so that these promontories are in surface contact with these regions in the locking position of the device.
[0019] In particular, each notch is open on the underside, laterally on the outside and towards the rear.
[0020] Preferably, when the protrusions are received in the notches, the vertical inner lateral faces of the protrusions bear against a respective inner wall of the notches.
[0021] Preferably, two left and right protrusions protrude from the underside of the base plate of the second part, at the rear edge.
[0022] In particular, each protuberance comprises a central region of concave shape, the concavity of which is turned downwards and of complementary shape to the convex upper face of the two left and right hook-shaped legs of the first part, so that the two protuberances come into surface contact with the two hook-shaped legs in the locking position of the device.
[0023] The present invention also relates to a first connection part intended to form part of a quick attachment according to the invention.
[0024] In particular, according to the invention, a first connection part intended to be part of a quick coupling intended to fix a tool, such as a bucket, to the end of the arm of a machine, such as a hydraulic excavator or the like, comprising the first connection part intended to be fixed to the bucket and a second connection part intended to be fixed to the arm, the first part comprising a base plate having a front edge and a rear edge, a coupling pin, respectively a hook, being issued from the lower face of the base plate and a locking hook being issued from the upper face of the base plate, the second part comprising a hook, respectively a pin, intended to couple to the coupling pin, respectively to the hook, of the first part and a slidingly mounted locking plate and biased by spring means, the locking hook of the first part being intended to pass through a through opening formed in the sliding locking plate of the second part to hook onto an edge of the opening after sliding of the locking plate to ensure the locking of the quick-release device,is characterized in that the front edge of the base plate of the first part defines a notch, in particular of flared shape.

[0051] In the various figures, elements having an identical function are designated by the same numerical reference.
[0052] In [Fig. 1] there is shown a first connection part 1 of a device forming a quick coupler according to an embodiment of the invention. This first part 1 is intended to be secured to a bucket, in particular from below, and to be coupled to the second connection part 2 shown in [Fig. 2], itself secured, in particular from above, to the arm of the machine, by means of vertical wings and trunnions not shown.
[0053] The first connection part 1 comprises a base plate 3 of the rear edge 10 from which protrude two right and left coupling tabs 4, 5 in the form of hooks intended to hook onto an axis or journal 9 from the second part 2 to couple the two parts 1 and 2.
[0054] A locking hook 6 extends substantially vertically from the upper face of the plate 3, comprising a rod-forming part 7 and a head-forming part 8 which extends laterally forward from the rod part 7.
[0055] The front edge 11 is notched, comprising a central rectilinear section 12 and two rectilinear sections 13 and 14 respectively right and left which are inclined relative to the central rectilinear section 12, in particular at an angle of between 30 and 60°, in particular 45°, so as to form a notch 15. The notch 15 extends under the head part 8 of the hook 6, in particular as far as the stem part 7.
[0056] The front edge 11 defines on either side of the notch two left and right promontories 16, 17 which end in the form of two respectively right and left protrusions. In longitudinal section (back-front), each protrusion comprises, from the lower surface of the base plate 3, a curved end section 18 having its concavity facing downwards, preceded by a curved intermediate section 19 having its concavity facing upwards, itself preceded by a vertical, or substantially vertical, rectilinear section 20, for example making an angle of 5° to 10° with the vertical, extending to the upper surface of the base plate 3.
[0057] Further formed on the upper surface of the plate 3 are left and right lateral shoulders 21 which define with a central base 22 respectively left and right flow channels extending from the rear edge to the front edge, through which water and / or earth and waste can flow. Seen from above, the outer lateral walls of the shoulders are substantially rectilinear from the rear edge to the front edge, while the inner lateral walls of the shoulders each comprise a rear rectilinear section 25, an intermediate rectilinear section 26 and a front rectilinear section 27. The rear and front rectilinear sections 25 and 27 are parallel to each other and parallel to the outer lateral walls, the intermediate section being inclined relative to the two sections 25 and 27, in particular by an angle of between 10° and 45°, in particular between 20° and 30°, the front ends of the intermediate sections 26 being closer to the center than are the rear ends. The upper surfaces of the shoulders 21 slope downward from the outside to the inside.
[0058] The head part 8 of the hook comprises an upper front surface inclined relative to the vertical, in particular at an angle of between 30 and 60° and a lower surface 23 facing downwards while being substantially horizontal, but in particular slightly inclined at an angle of a few degrees. The head part 8 further comprises two left and right ears 24 which extend laterally to the left and right relative to the rest of the head part 8.
[0059] In [Fig. 2], a first embodiment of a connecting part is shown. Another embodiment is shown in [Fig. 9]. In the embodiment of [Fig. 2], the locking plate and the springs have been omitted. In the embodiment of [Fig. 2], they are identical to those in the embodiment of [Fig. 9],
[0060] The second connection part 2 comprises a base plate 30, from the lower face of which extend two rings 31 intended to be crossed by the trunnion or axis 9 to allow the coupling of the two connection parts 1, 2 by hooking the hooks 4 and 5 to the axis 9.
[0061] On the other hand, an upper locking plate 32 is mounted on the base plate 30 and is slidable relative thereto, the sliding plate 32 being biased rearwardly by means of two springs 700, the respective rear ends of the springs being fixed to eyelets 33 formed at the raised rear edge of the plate 30.
[0062] There are defined in each of the two base plates 30 and 32 sliding respective through openings 34 and 35 facing each other and of substantially rectangular shape having a width dimension substantially equal to the width dimension of the head 8 of the hook at the level of the two ears 24, the dimension of the openings being however sufficient to allow the passage through it of the hook 6 while ensuring a certain centering achieved by the substantially equal dimensions of the width of the hook at the level of the ears 24 and the width of the rectangular through openings.
[0063] At the front end of the second connection part 2, two stops 52, 53 respectively left and right protrude from the lower face of the base plate 30. There is formed in each stop 52, 53, a respective notch 50, 51 of complementary shape to that of the protrusions of the promontories 16, 17, so that these protrusions are received inside these notches in the locking position of the device. Each notch is open on the underside, laterally to the outside and towards the rear. When the protrusions are received in the notches 50, 51, the vertical interior lateral faces of the protrusions bear against a respective interior wall 54, 55 notches 50, 51.
[0064] Two left and right protrusions 40 protrude from the lower face of the base plate 30, at the rear edge. Each protrusion has a central region of concave shape, the concavity of which is turned downwards and of complementary shape to the upper convex face 42 of the two left and right hook-shaped tabs 4, 5, so that, as can be seen in particular in [Fig. 4], the two protrusions come into surface contact with the two tabs 4, 5 in the locking position of the device.
[0065] Two fingers 41 left and right protrude from the upper face of the base plate 30 and are intended to cooperate with flexible blades 36 well known in the field, see in particular FR-A-2946061) to provide additional locking security by preventing the sliding plate 31 from falling downwards in the event that the springs which constrain it come to loosen or break.
[0066] Two studs 60, respectively left and right, project from the upper face of the base plate 30, on the front side, substantially at the level of the front edge of the opening of the sliding plate 31 and have the function of receiving a cylindrical axis 37 (omitted in [Fig. 2], but visible in [Fig. 9]) on each side intended to hold the locking plate in its housing during its translation during the locking operation. These axes 37 are offset by a few millimeters upwards relative to the locking plate to allow the latter a certain freedom of tilting, on an angle Alpha shown in [Fig. 16] when the first connection part 1 comes to lift the locking plate to trigger the locking. These cylindrical axes 37 also serve as a maximum stop when unlocking the plate.
[0067] A central hook-shaped lug 61 projects from the upper face of the base plate 30 and forms a stop for the locking plate in its rearward movement.
[0068] To achieve the locked connection of the two first and second connection parts of the quick-attach device, the operator, firstly, ensures that the two hooks 4 and 5 of the first part 1 are hooked onto the axis 9 coming from the second connection part 2, then makes, by means of the arm of the machine, a relative rotational movement of the two connection parts.
[0069] The different stages of locking and unlocking respectively are shown in Figures 11 to 28.
[0070] Firstly, before the locking operation, it is appropriate to place the second connection part 2, in particular the locking plate 32, in a so-called armed position, i.e. moved forward to have its opening through opening 35 substantially in correspondence with the through opening 34 of the base plate.
[0071] To achieve this arming, a fork-shaped key 200 is used, a stud 201 projecting laterally from one 204 of the fork spikes while the other 205 spike has a shape adapted to the shape of the front edge of the base plate to allow this fork, when the stud 201 has been introduced into a hole 202 formed in a boss 203 projecting upwards from the locking plate, to come into contact with the front edge of the base plate 30 to act as a lever and, with the key, thus pull the locking plate 32 forwards relative to the base plate, against the springs 700, passing over a mound 500 coming from the upper face of the base plate 30.This butt 500 has an inclined rear face 501, in particular at approximately 45° and a vertical front face 502, the inclination of the rear face 501 allowing the rear edge 503 of the locking plate to pass over the butt during the forward movement of the plate. The steps for moving the plate to the armed state are identical to those shown in Figures 22 to 28 to illustrate the unlocking and uncoupling of the two connection parts.
[0072] In the armed position, the rear face of the rear edge 503 of the locking plate 32 bears against the vertical front face 502 of the butt 500, in particular following a surface-to-surface contact.
[0073] Figures 12 to 19 show the different relative positions of the two connection parts 1 and 2 during the coupling and locking operations.
[0074] In Figures 12 and 13, the two parts 1 and 2 are attached to each other by the hooks 4, 5 and the axis 9, the locking plate 32 being in the armed position.
[0075] Initially, the two connecting parts continue their mutual rotational movement, until a shoe 505, coming from the central base 22, at the rear of the head of the hook 6, comes to abut against the lower face 504 of the rear edge 503 of the locking plate 32, as shown in figures 14 and 15.
[0076] The continued mutual rotation of the two connecting parts has the effect of tilting the locking plate by an angle Alpha (allowed by the slightly upwardly offset positioning of the axes 37, as shown in figures 16 and 17, which has the effect of lifting the rear edge 503 of the locking plate 32 beyond the mound 500. At the same time, the head of the hook 6 has passed above the locking plate.
[0077] The rear edge 503 then no longer abuts against the mound 500, the action of the springs 700 is no longer hindered, and the plate 32 is then pulled backwards, until an inclined upper face 505 of the front edge 506 of the plate 32 becomes wedged against the lower bearing surface 23 of the head 8 of the hook 6. In particular, the upper face 505 and the bearing surface 23 are inclined relative to the horizontal by a identical angle. The device is then locked, as shown in Figures 18 and 19.
[0078] In [Fig.5], we see the connection part 1 fixed to the bucket and the second connection part 2 fixed to the arm of the machine, by means of two wings (shown but without numerical reference) and trunnions, not shown. The two parts are in the locked position.
[0079] In Figures 29 and 30, the first and second parts of the device shown in Figures 8 are shown, making it possible to illustrate the differences between the device of Figures 1 and 2 and that of [Fig.8].
[0080] As can be seen in [Fig.29], the two promontories 16, 17 defined on either side of the notch by the front edge 11 of the first connection part 1 have an upper end surface of rounded shape having its concavity facing downwards.
[0081] The stops 52 and 53 of the second connecting part have a lower surface each comprising two regions, namely an outer region 50 and an inner region, the outer region 50 having a surface of complementary shape to that of the upper end surface of the two promontories, while the inner region is wedge-shaped.
[0082] In particular, the surface of the outer region 50 is, like the upper end surface of the headlands, inclined downward from the outside to the inside.
