A method for melting vitrifiable materials implemented using a glass furnace (1) according to any one of claims 1 to 15, characterized in that it comprises at least one step of electrically heating said bath (3) of molten vitrifiable materials by means of said plurality of electrodes (An, Bn, Cn, Dn), and by applying within said bath (3) a two-phase alternating current.
