Abstract

The present invention is a very high-pressure filtration system and method that allows, in particular, the recovery of sludge returned by filter presses, used in gravel pits, or from other sources, in order to increase its dryness. Thus, at one end of a cylinder, an original cylinder head is fitted, the bearing surface of which is divided into two concentric parts: an outer part bearing on the edge of the cylinder's end tube, and a central part whose thickness is recessed relative to this edge and which therefore does not bear on it, thus leaving a central opening between the cylinder head and the cylinder, this opening providing access to the outside of the system. This opening serves the same purpose as the mesh of a conventional screen. The present filter has the advantage of withstanding very high filtration pressure, resulting in a high production yield.

Title of the invention: FILTRATION ADJUSTMENT

[0001] The present invention relates to a new industrial product, an original very high pressure filtration system for mineral sludge and for products of organic origin, allowing, among other things, the recycling of clay sludge from filter presses, used for washing gravel in quarries, or from other origins, whether mineral or organic.

[0002] The invention will be better understood by referring to the descriptions below and the accompanying drawings, of which: Figure [1] represents a cross-section of said system with a piston (12) at bottom dead center. [0003] Clay sludge is already known to be used for the manufacture of concrete, on an experimental basis, by the use of filter press badge bags, however this use has the disadvantage of returning a product whose dryness is too low to obtain a correct and economically viable product; Thus, and after multiple practical trials, all over the world, the said sludge outputs still end up in landfills or embankments.

[0004] The present invention aims to remedy this drawback and relates to an original system for producing, from clay mud, a highly dry, pasty product that can be handled and used for all kinds of purposes and can also be supplemented with all kinds of products.

[0005] The invention relates to an original filter press system for filtering clay, or other materials such as those obtained from washing gravel in gravel pit operations, or from various other sources, including mineral, organic, or synthetic sludge, or a mixture of sludges. According to the invention, - an original cylinder head is positioned on the end of a tube, which tube in one scenario being the tube of a cylinder and - said original cylinder head replaces the cylinder head terminal of said cylinder, - said breechblock is original in that it has, on the central part of its bearing surface, a very thin reduction in thickness, thus creating an opening on said bearing part of said breechblock - which opening extends substantially to a median diameter between the inner and outer diameters of the cylinder on which it rests, - this opening carries pressurized passages originating from the cylinder - an annular groove is formed substantially on the said non-load-bearing part of the said cylinder head over substantially its median diameter, - which groove is intended to channel the said passages coming from the said opening, - a tubular conduit, equipped with a valve, crosses the substantially central part of the said cylinder head and supplies mud to the internal part of the said cylinder - the piston of the cylinder or tube, as the case may be, under the action of a pressurized hydraulic fluid, coming from the outside, then moves up towards said cylinder head, compressing the contents of said cylinder, thus producing, on the one hand, a cake of retentions and on the other hand, purging water which is evacuated through said opening and then through a tubular conduit - after the complete compression of said retentions, said cylinder head moves back and said piston of said cylinder moves forward and then evacuates the purged cake to the outside of this system.

[0006] The invention also relates to a system and method in which the system is used for any type of filtration, including, for clay sludge, the filtration reservoirs are then given all sorts of shapes by machining them, or by injecting them into molds using presses, or by extruding them using an extruder or extruder, or by suctioning them onto molds, or by fragmenting them, or by sandblasting them, or by eroding them, or by crushing them, or by deforming them, or by mixing them with all sorts of products of mineral, organic, vegetable or other origin, and furthermore, these reservoirs are subjected to all sorts of constraints or influences, and in which the inputs of the present process are: sludge of all kinds, whether mineral like clay, or vegetable, organic, synthetic, or a mixture of several of these inputs.

[0007] The present invention will be better understood by referring to the description below and to the accompanying drawings, of which: Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section seen from above of a cylinder equipped with a piston in a rest position and operating in a horizontal position. Figure [Fig. 2] is a longitudinal section viewed from above the said cylinder, whose piston is under compression. The [Fig.3] is a longitudinal section of said cylinder, seen from above, whose cylinder head (1) is opened at the end of the cycle and which then returns its purged contents (7) outside the system.

[0008] Thus, in the present system: the cylinder head which is located on the terminal side of a cylinder (30) is replaced by a new original cylinder head (1)

[0009] This new cylinder head (1) comprises: - at its lower central part, a very slight reduction in its thickness, (2) - and then only applies to its lower peripheral part (3), - thus leaving an opening (4) in its central part, of a very thin thickness, between it and the top of said cylinder (30) and of a diameter (5) which goes substantially from half wall thickness to half wall thickness of said cylinder. The said opening (4) allows the fine particles contained and compressed in the said cylinder to escape to the outside (20) of the cylinder. The thickness of said opening (4) selects the maximum size of particles that can escape to the outside (20) and this opening therefore constitutes a filter which evacuates the fines and liquids contained under pressure in said cylinder, thus restoring calibrated retentions (7) free of fines, which is the objective of the present process. - An annular groove (8), straddling the load-bearing and non-load-bearing face of said breech (1), channels said passers which are said fines. - and a tubular conduit (9) then discharges the said channeled fines (20) to the outside, - the tubular conduit (10) for its part allows the supply of said cylinder (30) of the present system, causing the movement of its piston (12) downwards. - Said tubular conduit (10) being equipped with an inlet valve (11), channels said products to be treated (15)

[0012] The present system operates in the following manner: - The said leak is a filtration element. - the thickness of said opening (4) plays the same role as the mesh of a sieve. - The central part (2) of said cylinder head (1) being less thick than its outer part (22), it therefore rests on nothing, because the opening (4) remains there. Said ajour (4) constitutes an original flat filter element for all sludges which will circulate through it under pressure. The said tubular conduit (9) gives access to the said annular groove (8) and allows the passages of the said openings to the outside of the system. The tubular conduit (10) allows the internal part of the cylinder (30) to be loaded with products to be purged. (15) The said conduit (10) includes an inlet valve. (11) Said jack (30) being arranged preferably, but not exclusively, horizontally.

Claims

1. Demands Original filter press system for filtering clay, or other materials such as those from washing gravel from gravel pit operations, or from various origins, including mineral, organic or synthetic sludge or a mixture of sludges, characterized in that an original cylinder head (1) is disposed on the end of a tube, which tube being in one case the tube of a cylinder (30), and in that said original cylinder head (1) replaces the terminal cylinder head of said cylinder (30), and in that said cylinder head (1) is original in that it has on the central part of its bearing surface, a very fine reduction in thickness (2), thus creating an opening (4) on said bearing part of said cylinder head, and in that said opening extends substantially to a median diameter (5) included between the inner diameter and the outer diameter of said cylinder (30) on which the cylinder head bears,and in that this opening (4) is designed to convey fines and liquids contained under pressure from said cylinder (30), and in that an annular groove (8) is provided substantially on said non-load-bearing part of said cylinder head on substantially its median diameter (5), and in that said groove is intended to channel said fines and liquids from said opening (4), and in that a tubular conduit (10), equipped with a valve (11), passes through the substantially central part of said cylinder head and supplies mud to the internal part of said cylinder (30), and in that the piston of the cylinder or tube, as the case may be, is designed to, under the action of a hydraulic fluid under pressure from the outside, then rise towards said cylinder head, compressing the contents of said cylinder, cylinder, and thus produce, on the one hand, a cake of retainers (7) and on the other hand, purging water which is evacuated through said opening (4) then through a tubular conduit (9) and in that the system is designed so that after the complete compression of said retainers (7), said cylinder head (1) recoils and said piston (12) of said cylinder (30) advances and then evacuates the purged cake (7) to the outside of the present system.

A method for filtering inputs, such as clay, or other materials such as those from gravel washing in gravel pit operations, or from various origins, including mineral, organic or synthetic sludge or a mixture of sludges, and producing calibrated retentions with a filter press system according to claim 1, a method characterized in that - an input is introduced into the internal part of said cylinder via the tubular conduit equipped with a valve - the piston of the cylinder or tube, as the case may be, under the action of a pressurized hydraulic fluid from the outside, then rises towards said cylinder head, compressing the contents of said cylinder, thus producing, (i) on the one hand, a retention cake, and (ii) on the other hand, purging water with fines and contained liquids under pressure from said cylinder,which are evacuated through said opening and then through said tubular conduit - after complete compression of said retainers, said cylinder head retracts and said piston of said cylinder advances and then evacuates the purged cake to the outside of the present system, the inputs of the present process being: sludges of all kinds, whether mineral such as clay, or vegetable, organic, synthetic, or a mixture of several of these inputs.

A method according to claim 2, characterized in that said filtration retainers (7) are then given all sorts of shapes, by machining them, or by injecting them by presses into molds, or by extruding them by an extruder or a blower, or by suctioning them onto molds or by fragmenting them, or by sandblasting them, or by eroding them, or by crushing them, or by distorting them, or by mixing them with all sorts of products, of mineral, organic, vegetable or other origin and furthermore, these retentions are subjected to all sorts of constraints or influences.
