Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: R2&2 Rectifying Sabre
[0001] The present invention relates to a rectifying and sanding sword for defects on painted surfaces.
[0002] Sanding and grinding devices already exist that consist of a block of various shapes and materials. These blocks have several drawbacks. For some, the material is not flexible enough to reach areas on complex surfaces, or their composition causes the block to degrade with prolonged use. For others, their shape is not suitable for use on small defects such as dust particles on a painted surface.
[0003] The invention aims to overcome these drawbacks while providing additional functionality. To this end, it comprises a manual sanding sword made of a semi-rigid material of a chosen hardness. This sword has two small flat surfaces on each face; these surfaces are designed to correct defects, such as dust particles, using a sheet of abrasive paper. These four sheets of paper are attached to the sword by means of a self-adhesive hook-and-loop fastener with loops and hooks.
[0004] In the following description of a non-limiting example of the implementation of this rectification sword, the advantages of this tool will be highlighted. References will be made to the attached 3D visuals.
[0005] The grinding sword shown in Figures 1 to 3 consists of a matrix 1 made of polymer plastic of selected hardness and of oblong, thin, and flat shape. On each of the two main faces of this matrix are two oblong indentations 2, 3, 4, and 5. Inside these indentations is a sticker 6 with a hook-and-loop fastener on the reverse side. A sheet of abrasive paper 7, 8, 9, and 10, of the same shape and dimensions, is attached to each of these fasteners with a hook-and-loop surface of the velvet type. Each of these sheets has a different grit for use in the grinding process. For example, P1000, P2000, P3000, and P4000 grit. To avoid confusion, engravings 11, 12, 13, and 14 are made in the matrix next to each indentation.
[0006] Depending on the hardness chosen for the matrix, it will be more flexible or more rigid. The added value of the saber lies in its ability to perfectly conform to convex or concave shapes to reach defects that are difficult to rectify. A polymer with a hardness of 60 Shore D combined with 320, 400, 600, and 800 grit papers, for example, will allow use on UV putties. A polymer with a hardness of 95 Shore A combined with 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 grit papers, for example, will allow for the correction of very fine defects requiring greater precision.
[0007] The shape and dimensions of the blade allow for a reduction in the work area during grinding. This reduction results in a significant time saving. Furthermore, the ergonomic shape of the die allows the user to concentrate their force and pressure on the area to be ground.
[0008] Edges 15 and 16 are beveled in order to serve as a scraper during water rectification, for example.
[0009] The invention is not limited to the embodiments described above; on the contrary, it covers all embodiment variants:
Claims
Demands
1. A defect-rectifying blade, characterized in that it is made of a polymer matrix of a chosen hardness. This matrix having four indentations, in each of which is attached, by means of a self-adhesive sticker, a sheet of abrasive paper of the same dimensions and of chosen grit.
2. Defect rectification saber according to claim 1, characterized in that the four abrasive sheets are of evolving grains, different and adapted to the chosen use.
3. Defect rectification saber according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the die is oblong and flat, allowing the working area to be reduced and small defects to be targeted.
