Abstract

Improved manufacturing process for capsules comprising at least one matrix shell containing a lipophilic core. The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing capsules comprising a water-insoluble matrix shell containing a lipophilic core, comprising the steps: a. having an inverse emulsion comprising a first aqueous phase including a gelling agent dispersed in an oily phase; b. having a second aqueous phase; c. contacting the compositions of steps a and b to obtain a dispersion comprising droplets of the inverse emulsion of step a dispersed in the second aqueous phase; d. injecting an aqueous shell-forming solution comprising a matrix-forming agent into a first conduit comprising the dispersion of step c; e. reacting the gelling-inducing and matrix-forming agents to obtain said capsules.
