Abstract

The 'Safely the Forgotten' project offers an innovative plush toy equipped with a recorder, geolocation, and an alarm. This device aims to detect violent behavior in homes and transmit the recordings to an organization for evaluation, in order to protect children and families.

[0002] This project consists of creating a plush toy into which a sound recorder, a geolocation device and an alarm will be inserted.

[0003] When this plush toy detects recurring violent movement and / or speech, it will send a signal to our association "Safely the Forgotten".

[0004] Once the signal is received, we will listen to what has been recorded and we will check if there is actually violence within the family.

[0005] If repeated violence is observed, the recording and all information about the family will be sent to the National Police and the relevant professionals (PMI, for example). What are the objectives of this project?

[0008] - Facilitating the release of victims' voices.

[0009] - Freeing up spaces in homes.

[0010] - Provide evidence for possible complaints to the National Police.

[0012] After extensive research on the GDPR regulations of 2016 and 2018, I am proud to say that this project complies with all applicable laws.

[0013] In order for this project to be legal, measures have been put in place:

[0014] All parents or legal guardians of the child must sign a charter of consent which explains the operation of this plush toy, in accordance with Article 19 of the 2018 GDPR regulation: "Consent must be given by a clear affirmative action by which the data subject freely, specifically, informedly and unambiguously signifies his or her agreement to the processing of personal data relating to him or her."

[0015] Legal guardians may contact the association at any time to request the deletion of collected data, except in cases of immediate danger.

[0016] If a danger is found, the data will be transferred to the National Police and the competent professionals, but "Safely les oubliés" will erase the family's personal data, in accordance with Article 38 of the GDPR of 2018.

[0017] Since this project is in the public interest, the association will neither retain nor process personal data unless a danger is detected. The data will be sent directly to the National Police.

[0018] This complies with Article 22 of the 2018 GDPR: "To be lawful, the processing of personal data must be based on the necessity of performing a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority."

[0019] The project also respects fundamental family rights. Recording will only be triggered in the event of repeated violent movements or speech, thus respecting the family's privacy. Recording will end when the shouting, violent words, and gestures cease. Therefore, recording will not be continuous and will be limited to situations of danger.

[0020] Each plush toy will have an identification number, as indicated in Article 32 of the GDPR. This will allow us to track all information received. Geolocation will also be integrated to know the location of the potential victim.
