Abstract

A fluid measurement device (10) has two waveguides (22, 24) on a flow channel (12) and a first and second signal converter element (26, 28) mounted on the waveguides (22, 24). The signal converter elements (26, 28) each include at least two signal converters (30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40) for exciting surface acoustic waves in the waveguides (22, 24) which are arranged side by side in a transverse direction (T) of the flow channel (12). To determine a flow rate through the flow channel (12), central signal data are measured using central signal converters (30, 32) and lateral signal data are measured using lateral signal converters (34, 36, 38, 40) of the first and second signal converter element (26, 28).A correction coefficient is determined from the measured central and lateral signal data, and a flow rate is determined from the measured central and lateral signal data and the determined correction coefficient. Claims

Side signal converters (34, 36, 38, 40) are active and side signal (Slateral) data are measured.

11. A method according to any one of claims 8 to 10, wherein the measurements are carried out with and against a direction of fluid flow.

12. A method according to any one of claims 8 to 11, wherein a reference signal (Sref) is measured between the central signal converter (30) of the first signal converter element (26) and a third signal converter (44) arranged on the first waveguide (22). [Fig. 1] [Fig. 2] [Fig. 3]
