Gateway node

Abstract

A connection node 2 for a subsea cable, the connection node comprising generally elongate housing 4 arranged between first 6 and second 8 connection ends; a connection socket 10 arranged to be stored within the housing; at least one aperture 12 located within the housing allows the connection socket to be accessed via the aperture; wherein the connection node is connectable in-line with a subsea cable via the first and second connection ends. The socket may communicate with the subsea cable via a optical fibre pair and a power conductor. The aperture may comprise a cover releasably attached to the housing.
