Methods and apparatus for signalling recovery

Abstract

A user equipment (UE) comprising: a transmitter; a receiver; and at least one processor configured to: while the UE is in 5GMM-CONNECTED mode, receive a fallback indication; and verify whether a network slice (NS) is available based on a location of the UE and / or time information, wherein the NS is associated with a protocol data unit (PDU) session for which user plane (UP) resources were established prior to the fallback indication being received. The process may be configured: if the NS is available, request the UP resources to be re-established by transmitting an indication of the PDU session or the UP resources to a core network. The indication may be included in a message, the message being one of a NAS message, a Registration Request message, a Service Request message, or a Control Plane Service Request message. The processor may be configured to: verify whether the NS is available in a cell or a tracking area (TA) of the UE; and / or verify whether the NS is available based on a current time or S-NSSAI time validity information. The UE may be configured to support S-NSSAI location validity information.
