Method and system for detecting an object by a vehicle

Abstract

A method and system for detecting an object, by a vehicle including monitoring readings of one or more sensors mounted on the vehicle, and monitoring images captured by one or more cameras mounted on the vehicle. If an object is detected from the monitored readings from the sensors at a current time, and the monitored images do not detect the first object at the current time, one or more images captured by the one or more cameras within a predefined previous time from the current time are analysed. When a second object is detected in the analysed one or more images from the previous time, then the detected second object is compared with the detected first object, and when the detected second object is found matching with the detected first object, then the time stamp of the analysed one or more images from the previous time is compared with the current time to check if the cameras and the sensors have captured and show the presence of the same object. The detection of the object by the sensors once confirmed may be confirmed by the vehicle in the form of a notification to the driver.
