Description

Technical Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a device / tool for retaining one or more cartridge fuses which are from small millivolt through to larger 3, 5 and 13amp fuses (examples only) and or screwdriver bits, which also comprises of an angled pry tip for releasing fuse connection unit fuse carriers and a screwdriver bit opening in which screwdriver bits can be inserted. Background to the invention is that it is a common problem that cartridge fuses are easily misplaced or lost when they are opened from the packet in which they are supplied in. It is also a problem that fuses connection unit fuse carriers can become damaged due to inappropriate tools being used such as an electrician's screwdriver to release the fuse carrier. This can be due to the location of the fuse connection unit being located close to a wall, cupboard or appliance and not having the required space to get an electrician's screwdriver in effectively to release the fuse carrier. Means are therefore required toaddress the problem above. Summary of the Invention According to the first aspect of the invention there is provided a device / tool for retaining one or more cartridge fuses, wherein it comprises of a body, wherein said body comprises of fuse retainers which are of a size and diameter in which to effectively grip around and retain a cartridge fuse. i.e. fuses that are generally tubular in shape, comprising an insulating body a metal end caps; such fuses being used in, for example, UKG type plugs, fused connection units, and printed circuit boards. Wherein there is provided a device / tool for also retaining one or more screwdriver bits, i.e. screwdriver bits that have a hexagonal body. According to the second aspect of the invention there is provided a device / tool wherein the main body comprises of a screwdriver bit opening in which for screwdriver bits to be inserted. Wherein the Screwdriver opening comprises of a magnetic insert. According to the third aspect of the invention there is provided a device / tool for retaining one or more cartridge fuses wherein the device comprises a means for removing a fuse from a fuse connection unit fuse carrier. Wherein the means for removing a fuse from a fuse carrier is provided in the form of a pry tip, wherein the pry tip is provided in the form of a blade-like structure. Wherein the pry tip can be adjustable. The pry tip may be fixed in different positions relative to the body, i.e. the pry tip may be rotated in multiple directions relative to the body of the device. Wherein there is provided a device for retaining fuses wherein the angle of the pry tip is adjustable relative to the general plane of the body i.e. the general plane of the pry tip may be adjusted relative to the general plane of the body, as explained further below. The embodiments of the fuse retaining device with pry tip are therefore described together with reference to their common features and with reference to figures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. The device for retaining fuses with pry tip comprises of an elongated body (la) that provides a housing in which to retain screwdriver bits and or cartridge fuses. The body (la) is generally rectangular in form and is slightly wider in the middle curving outwards and narrows at the top towards the key ring hoop (Id) and narrows slightly towards the pry tip (lc) The sides of the body (la) have a radius. The front face / upper surface of the body (la) is curved slightly at the edges on either side. A key ring hoop (Id) is comprised at the top of the body and is of a size in which to retain split rings or carabiners etc. This enables it to be clipped to your person, tool bag or keys etc and so is always to hand. At the bottom of the body (6) the device comprises of an angled pry tip (3c, 6c) which is of a blade like structure and is wider at the base and narrows towards the top. This is to allow it to pry open fuse connection unit fuse carriers. The bottom of the body (6) also comprises of a hexagonal cutaway portion (6a) in which for screwdriver bits to be inserted and for the device / tool to act as a screwdriver. The hexagonal cutaway portion (6a) can also incorporate a magnetic insert (6b). On the underside of the device (figure 5) comprises of elongated hexagonal cut out portions (3d) which are of a size and shape in which to securely grip around a screwdriver bit. The hexagonal cut out portions (3d) are not fully enclosed and are open at the top to allow the retainer to flex and also so you can see the type of the screwdriver bit. As per the cartridge retainers the hexagonal cut out portions (6d) can also if required comprise of a raised gradient / ramp (5c) in which to grip screwdriver bits that vary slightly in size. It also comprises of semi-circular cut out portions (3a) which are of a size and diameter in which to grip around a cartridge fuse. They are most preferably semi-circular in design in which to allow the fuse retainer to flex, but also so the end user can see the fuse rating. The fuse retainers can also be an enclosed elongated cylindrical cutaway. Due to cartridge fuses differing slightly in diameter and to enable the device to allow for this, the fuse retainers (3a) comprise of a raised portion of material which is of a raised gradient from the front opening to the back (3b, 5c). The underside of the device (figure 5) comprises of a cut out portion / recess at the rear of the fuse retainers (5b) this is to allow for the user to put their finger behind the back of the fuse and push outwards to release. It also acts as a barrier to prevent the cartridge fuses being accidentally pushed out. To Note: The Fuse and Screwdriver Bit Retaining Device with Pry Tip and Screwdriver Bit Opening of the type disclosed can comprise of one or all of the features described. For example The device / tool could just comprise of the Cartridge Fuse Retainers. The Fuse and Screwdriver Bit Retaining Device with Pry Tip and Screwdriver Bit Opening of the type disclosed, and particularly those described may be manufactured from plastic materials, such asABS, polycarbonate, polypropylene; and / or composite / reinforced material s such as glass filled nylon, fibre glass, and / or reinforced plastics materials; and / or metals that may comprise a plastic or coating for the purpose of safety.

Claims

1. A device / tool comprising a combination of cartridge fuse retainers which are of an elongated cylindrical cutaway with a raised ramp / gradient of material from the fuse retainer opening to the back, which are of a size and diameter in which to securely grip and retain a cartridge fuse, as these differ slightly by manufacturer, it also comprises of elongated hexagonal cutaways which are of a size to securely grip and retain screwdriver bits, the device / tool also comprises of an angled pry tip for removing fuses from fused connection units by inserting the angled pry tip into the fuse cartridge holder to release, it also comprises of a screwdriver opening in which screwdriver bits can be inserted, the screwdriver hexagonal opening also comprises of a magnet in which to retain the screwdriver bit.
