Claims

1. Primary Claim:A windsurf board equipped with an electric-driven propeller powered by a small battery to assist planing in light wind conditions.

2. Secondary Claim:A small diameter, low drag motor and propellor integrated into the fin of the windsurfer, designed to provide propulsion while minimising additional hydrodynamic resistance.

3. Tertiary Claim:A control system that sets the propeller speed to a fixed rate, maintaining that speed once the windsurf board has accelerated to sufficient velocity, thereby creating a low complexity control system to adjust power requirement and prevent additional drag.

4. Quaternary ClaimA DC electric power and communication cable running from an exit in the top of the fin around the back of the board, maintaining low profile and close mounting to minimise drag and interference with the windsurfer, and routed to the battery mounted on the board between the rear foot straps.

5. Quinary ClaimA battery mounting system utilising the existing foot strap mounting holes on the windsurf board that will position the battery in a little used area of the board between the foot straps and allow use of a conventional windsurf board to be equipped with the electric propulsion system without permanent modification.
