Portable public safety answering point (psap)

Abstract

The invention provides a portable system and method for helping to enable a portable public safety answering point (PSAP) that can be activated away from an inoperable PSAP centre comprising a keyboard, headset jack and PSAP engine to allow a remote PSAP operator to dispatch emergency services. The portable PSAP can also include a protective case, auxiliary lighting, status indicator lights, one or more handsets, one or more handset cradles, a communication adapter, an instruction manual, a security pack, a speaker, an ethernet adapter, a power strip, a battery, one or more handset jacks, a communication engine, one or more processors, memory, and / or an antenna. One or more portable PSAPs may be deployed in a remote area, in or around a geofenced event, or in urban areas. The portable PSAP can be moved to a new location without losing the established public switched telephone network (PSTN) connection. Security credentials may be used to log into the remote PSAP and establish a virtual private network (VPN) connection. [Figure 1A]
