Abstract

This article relates to a can opener for opening the lid of a pail can that contains engine oil, brake oil, and other oils primarily for automobiles and motorcycles. A metal pail can that contains oils is generally constructed by joining a lid surface material to the top and bottom of a body that is generally tubular (cylindrical or rectangular). The lid surface material is joined to the top and bottom peripheries of the body that contains the oils inside by crimping (swaging) the metal materials together while sealing the outer peripheries. When pouring oils from a pail can formed in this way into a tank or the like, the oils are poured out from a dedicated pouring outlet, or holes are made using a hole punch at two opposing places on the top lid surface material, and the oil is poured out from one of the holes into the tank or the like, so that no oil remains in the pail can. In contrast, this product is a can opener that can open the entire inner periphery of the flange of the top lid panel that is crimped to the body by using the blade of the product to cut open the position of the inner periphery of the flange of the lid panel by sequentially swinging the handle of the product in the direction of the arrow, as shown in reference perspective views 1 and 2 showing the state of use. In other words, since this product can open the entire inner periphery of the flange of the top lid panel of a pail can, it becomes possible to pour the oil contained inside into a tank, etc. without waste.
