Abstract

The design article, a lower electrode unit for welding, is fixed to the horn of a welding machine via a holder. The lower electrode unit consists of an arm, a lower electrode attached to the upper end of the arm, a positioning pin that penetrates the lower electrode and protrudes upward, an air cylinder disposed on the side end of the arm, and a sensor box. The amount of descent of the positioning pin, which is pushed down by the upper electrode, is converted into the amount of movement of a horizontal rod disposed within the arm, and this movement is detected by a sensor in the sensor box to detect whether the setting state of the workpiece set on the step of the positioning pin is abnormal. In addition, the arm is U-shaped to form a space to avoid contact with the workpiece when welding a U-shaped workpiece, and the holder and the lower electrode are positioned on the same vertical line to absorb downward impact during welding.
