Origami money envelopes

Abstract

The article relating to the present design is completed as a pochibukuro (small envelope for giving money) by folding the paper shown in the front and back views in the manner of origami. A pochibukuro is a small envelope used to hold congratulatory money or New Year's money. The origami pochibukuro relating to the present design can be sealed without using glue or braided cord. Furthermore, when the origami pochibukuro relating to the present design is folded into a tube shape, both the top and bottom ends are angled. This angle makes it easier to insert the money, and the resulting shape is upward sloping to the right, creating an auspicious shape. Any illustration and a place to write a name can be printed on the origami pochibukuro relating to the present design. The folding method is shown in "Reference Figure 1-6 showing the folding procedure". Fold along the fold lines A, B, C, and D on the back of the paper, which are indicated by dotted lines in "Reference Figure 1 showing the folding procedure". First, fold fold line A in a valley fold as shown in "Reference Figure 2 showing the folding procedure". Next, fold crease line B in a valley fold as shown in "Reference Figure 3 showing the folding procedure". Then, fold along crease line C in a valley fold as shown in "Reference Figure 4 showing the folding procedure". Finally, fold along crease line D in a valley fold as shown in "Reference Figure 5 showing the folding procedure", then fold it over the surface folded at crease line C, and tuck in the end to complete the folding as shown in "Reference Figure 6 showing the folding procedure". Alternatively, before folding the paper, you may perform the process of folding all creases A, B, C, and D in a valley fold and then unfolding it once, which is known as the crease-making process. Reference Figures 1-4 show the finished product.
