Abstract
This item is a spoon used when eating Japanese sweets. The spoon is designed based on the theme of "leaving no trace behind," and features a design inspired by the Japanese wagtail (see front view). This spoon can be used not only for scooping anmitsu and other sweets, but also as a sweet knife (kuromoji) for cutting yokan and other sweets. One end of the spoon is shaped like a bird's tail, allowing it to be used as a spoon (see Reference Figure 1 showing usage). The other end is shaped like a bird's beak, allowing it to be used as a sweet knife (see Reference Figure 2 showing usage). When using it as a spoon, the thumb fits comfortably in the area corresponding to the bird's wings, making it easy to grip. When using it as a sweet knife, the index finger fits comfortably in the constricted area of the bird's neck, making it easy to grip. Furthermore, the bottom center of the spoon has legs resembling a bird's feet, allowing it to stand upright (see Reference Perspective Figure 3). According to the spoon, when the spoon is placed upright on a stand with its legs facing downwards, the ends (tail end and beak end) do not touch the surface of the stand, thus keeping both the spoon and the stand clean.
