AI Technical Summary

[0018] To sum up, in the energy storage cabinet of the present disclosure, the support of the bracket is a hollow structure, and the hollow support can function as an air passage and communicate with the internal space of the battery pack, so that the support and the battery pack together form a narrow sealed space, and the cooling device of the energy storage cabinet generates an air flow circulating in the narrow sealed space, thereby contributing to regulating the temperature of the battery pack. On the contrary, the conventional energy storage cabinet generally uses an air conditioning system to control the temperature of the entire internal space of the energy storage cabinet, which consumes a relatively large amount of air conditioning power and requires the energy storage cabinet to be assembled with an air conditioning system with a relatively high cooling capacity. In addition, a partition plate is provided in the support, which divides the internal flow path of the support into a cold air flow path and a hot air flow path, so that the support can simultaneously guide the cold air and the hot air and prevent the cold air and the hot air from mixing. The above technical solution not only contributes to the power saving of the cooling device, but also makes the temperature of each battery pack in the energy storage cabinet relatively uniform. [0020] The present disclosure can be more fully described by referring to the attached drawings and various embodiments described below. Each element in the drawings is not drawn to scale and is merely provided to explain the present disclosure. Many practical details described below are for the purpose of fully understanding the present disclosure, and those skilled in the art should understand that the present disclosure can be implemented without one or more practical details. Therefore, these details should not be taken as limiting the present disclosure.
[0021] Please refer to FIG. 1. FIG. 1 is a side view showing an energy storage cabinet 20 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The energy storage cabinet 20 includes a bracket 22 and one or more battery packs 21 mounted on the bracket 22. The bracket 22 is used to mount the battery packs 21. The bracket 22 may have one or more slots for accommodating one battery pack 21 each. The battery packs 21 are removably mounted in the slots of the bracket 22, in other words, the battery packs 21 may be inserted into the slots and may be removed from the slots as needed (e.g., when repair or maintenance is required). The bracket 22 may include a slide rail structure (not shown in FIG. 1), and the battery pack 21 may be connected to the slide rail structure of the bracket 22 so as to slide into and out of the slots. In some embodiments, the energy storage cabinet 20 may further include a plurality of door panels (not shown) covering the sides of the bracket 22 to isolate the battery packs 21 from the outside environment as needed.
[0022] As shown in FIG. 1, the battery packs 21 are stacked along a vertical direction (e.g., the Z direction shown in the figure). The battery packs 21 may be divided into a plurality of floor assemblies 23, and the battery packs 21 located on the same horizontal layer belong to the same floor assembly 23 (e.g., the battery packs 21 in the same floor assembly 23 are arranged along the X direction). In the illustrated embodiment, the energy storage cabinet 20 includes nine floor assemblies 23, and one of the floor assemblies 23 is shown in the figure with a dashed frame. The battery packs 21 in each floor assembly 23 are connected in series so that the voltages of the battery packs 21 in the floor assembly 23 are added together to output a larger voltage. Each floor assembly 23 may include one common anode and one common cathode.
[0023] 1, the energy storage cabinet 20 further includes a junction device 26, which is mounted on the bracket 22, located on one side of the energy storage cabinet 20, and connected to the common anode and common cathode (not shown) of each layer assembly 23. The junction device 26 may include a DC junction unit, an AC auxiliary unit, and one or more control units (or one or more switch units).
[0024] 1 , the energy storage cabinet 20 further includes at least one cooling device 28 mounted on the bracket 22 and located on the other side of the energy storage cabinet 20. The cooling device 28 can generate cool air, which may be guided to flow through the battery pack 21 to help cool the battery pack 21. The cooling device 28 is, for example, an air conditioning system. In some embodiments, the connection device 26 and the cooling device 28 are provided on opposite sides of the battery pack 21.
[0025] 1, the battery packs 21 are arranged in a plurality of stacks, and the bracket 22 of the energy storage cabinet 20 includes a plurality of support posts 50 extending substantially vertically, and each support post 50 may be provided between the battery packs 21 of two adjacent stacks, or may be provided outside the battery packs 21. In other words, the support posts 50 and the battery packs 21 of the plurality of stacks may be arranged alternately. In some embodiments, each battery pack 21 is provided between two support posts 50.
[0026] As shown in FIG. 1 , the support 50 includes a tube member 55 having a hollow structure and an internal flow path. The internal flow path of the tube member 55 may communicate with the internal space of the battery pack 21 (for example, the side wall of the tube member 55 and the housing of the battery pack 21 may be provided with openings at corresponding positions). The bracket 22 of the energy storage cabinet 20 further includes at least one cold air duct 58 and at least one hot air duct 59. In this embodiment, the cold air duct 58 extends to pass above the battery pack 21, and the hot air duct 59 extends to pass below the battery pack 21. The cold air duct 58 is connected to the top end of at least some of the support 50, and the hot air duct 59 is connected to the bottom end of at least some of the support 50. The internal flow path of the support 50 communicates with the cold air duct 58 and the hot air duct 59. Cooling device 28 is provided on the side of battery pack 21, and cold air duct 58 and hot air duct 59 extend substantially horizontally to the side of battery pack 21 and are connected to cooling device 28. Cooling device 28 has cold air outlet 27A and hot air inlet 27B, and in this embodiment, cold air outlet 27A and hot air inlet 27B are located at the top and bottom of cooling device 28, respectively, and are connected to cold air duct 58 and hot air duct 59, respectively.
[0027] With the above arrangement, the battery pack 21, the support 50, the cold air duct 58, the hot air duct 59, and the cooling device 28 of the energy storage cabinet 20 of the present disclosure together form a narrow sealed space, and the cooling device 28 generates an airflow circulating in the narrow sealed space, contributing to regulating the temperature of the battery pack 21. Conversely, conventional energy storage cabinets generally use an air conditioning system to control the temperature of the entire internal space of the energy storage cabinet, which consumes a relatively large amount of air conditioning power and requires the energy storage cabinet to be equipped with an air conditioning system with a relatively high cooling capacity.
[0028] As shown in Fig. 1, the cold air generated by the cooling device 28 can flow along a first path P1, i.e., the cold air first flows through the cold air duct 58, then flows downward along the internal flow path of the support 50, and then flows into the internal space of the battery pack 21 from one side of the battery pack 21. The cold air is heated and converted into hot air when passing through the battery pack 21, and the temperature of the hot air is higher than that of the cold air. The hot air can flow along a second path P2, i.e., the hot air leaves the internal space of the battery pack 21 from the other side of the battery pack 21, then flows downward along the internal flow path of the support 50, then flows into the hot air duct 59, and finally returns to the cooling device 28.
[0029] 1, only some of the flow paths of the cold air and the hot air are shown in a schematic manner, and this is for the purpose of keeping the lines of the drawing simple and easy to read, and it is not meant that the cold air and the hot air flow only through these several flow paths. In reality, the cold air may be guided to flow into each battery pack 21, and any hot air discharged from each battery pack 21 may be guided to return to the cooling device 28.
[0030] Please refer to Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing one battery pack 21 in the energy storage cabinet 20 shown in Fig. 1. In Fig. 2, the top cover of the battery pack 21 is removed to facilitate explanation of the elements therein. The battery pack 21 includes a shell 29 and a plurality of battery cells 12 provided in the shell 29. The battery cells 12 are, for example, lithium batteries. The battery cells 12 may be prismatic cells or pouch type cells. The battery cells 12 are arranged in at least one row along the direction D.
[0031] As shown in FIG. 2 , each battery cell 12 includes two electrode terminals 15, including one positive terminal 13 and one negative terminal 14, arranged in parallel above the battery cell 12. The battery pack 21 further includes a plurality of first battery cell series-connection elements 30, which may also be called busbar elements, arranged in the shell 29 and arranged to connect the battery cells 12 in series. Specifically, the first battery cell series-connection element 30 is electrically connected to the positive terminal 13 and the negative terminal 14 of two adjacent battery cells 12 located in the same row. In some embodiments, the battery pack 21 further includes at least one second battery cell series-connection element 40 arranged in the shell 29 and electrically connected to the electrode terminals 15 of the battery cells 12 in two adjacent rows. The first battery cell series-connection element 30 and the second battery cell series-connection element 40 may be made of a conductive material such as copper or a copper alloy.
[0032] As shown in FIG. 2, the shell 29 of the battery pack 21 has at least one inlet 24 and at least one exhaust port 25, and the inlet 24 and the exhaust port 25 may be provided on both opposing sides of the shell 29 (for example, provided on two opposing side walls of the shell 29). The inlet 24 and the exhaust port 25 communicate with the internal flow path of the support 50 shown in FIG. 1. The cold air generated by the cooling device 28 can flow into the internal flow path of the support 50 and further enter the shell 29 via the inlet 24. The cold air is heated when passing through the battery pack 21 (for example, the cold air may absorb heat from elements such as the battery cells 12, the first battery cell series-connected element 30, and the second battery cell series-connected element 40 of the battery pack 21 to help dissipate heat from the battery pack 21) and is converted into hot air, and the hot air is discharged to the internal flow path of the support 50 via the exhaust port 25.
[0033] In some embodiments, the energy storage cabinet 20 has a fire-fighting mechanism to address the situation where a battery cell 12 fails, causing the temperature to become uncontrolled, and thus catching fire or burning. If the energy storage cabinet 20 detects that the battery pack 21 has overheated, the energy storage cabinet 20 is arranged to inject cooling liquid (e.g., pure water) into the shell 29 of the battery pack 21. In these embodiments, at least one of the inlet 24 and the outlet 25 may function as an outlet for excess cooling liquid.
[0034] 2, in some embodiments, the battery pack 21 further includes at least one first flat tube 41 provided in the shell 29 and arranged so as to surround the inlet 24 or the exhaust 25 of the shell 29. The first flat tube 41 protrudes from the outer wall surface of the shell 29. The first flat tube 41 may have at least one first oblique side structure 42. In some embodiments, the battery pack 21 includes two first flat tubes 41 provided symmetrically to each other and arranged so as to surround the inlet 24 and the exhaust 25, respectively.
[0035] Please refer to Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a local enlarged view of the energy storage cabinet 20 shown in Fig. 1. As shown in the figure, a plurality of slots 56 are defined by two adjacent support posts 50 of the bracket 22, and the battery packs 21 are provided so as to be insertable and removable into the slots 56. This figure shows a state in which some of the battery packs 21 have been removed from the slots. The support posts 50 may include slide rails 57 provided on the sides of the support posts 50 and arranged to be slidably connected to the shells 29 of the battery packs 21.
[0036] As shown in FIG. 3, the pipe member 55 of the support 50 has at least one side opening 54, and the side opening 54 communicates with the internal flow path of the pipe member 55, and each side opening 54 faces and communicates with the intake port 24 or the exhaust port 25 of one of the battery packs 21. In some embodiments, the support 50 includes at least one second flat tube 51 provided on the pipe member 55 and provided so as to surround one side opening 54 of the support 50. The second flat tube 51 protrudes from the outer wall surface of the support 50 and is coupled to the first flat tube 41 of the battery pack 21. The second flat tube 51 may have a second oblique side structure 52, and the first oblique side structure 42 and the second oblique side structure 52 of the first flat tube 41 have complementary outer shapes and abut each other (see FIG. 4). The provision of the first oblique side structure 42 and the second oblique side structure 52 has the effect of absorbing gaps, and also enables the battery pack 21 to be inserted into and removed from the slot 56 more smoothly.
[0037] Please refer to FIG. 4. FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of the energy storage cabinet 20 shown in FIG. 1 taken along line 4-4'. As shown in the figure, the bracket 22 includes a first support 50A, which includes the above-mentioned pipe member 55 and further includes a partition plate 60. The partition plate 60 is provided in the pipe member 55 and divides the internal flow path of the pipe member 55 into at least one cold air flow path 68 and a hot air flow path 69. The pipe member 55 has at least one first side opening 54A and at least one second side opening 54B, which are located on opposite sides of the partition plate 60 and communicate with the hot air flow path 69 and the cold air flow path 68, respectively. The multiple battery packs 21 include at least one first battery pack 21A and at least one second battery pack 21B provided on opposing sides of the first support 50A, and the exhaust port 25 of the first battery pack 21A is connected to the hot air flow path 69 via the first side opening 54A of the pipe member 55, and the intake port 24 of the second battery pack 21B is connected to the cold air flow path 68 via the second side opening 54B of the pipe member 55.
[0038] The cold air flow path 68 is connected to the cold air duct 58 to receive the cold air and send the cold air to the second battery pack 21B. The hot air flow path 69 can receive the hot air discharged from the exhaust port 25 of the first battery pack 21A. The hot air flow path 69 is connected to the hot air duct 59 so that the hot air returns to the cooling device 28 via the hot air duct 59. Since the first support 50A is provided on the partition plate 60 in the pipe member 55, the first support 50A can guide the cold air and the hot air at the same time and avoid mixing the hot air discharged from the first battery pack 21A located in front and the cold air used by the second battery pack 21B located in the rear. The above technical solution not only contributes to the power saving of the cooling device 28 of the energy storage cabinet 20, but also makes the temperature of each battery pack 21 in the energy storage cabinet 20 relatively uniform.
[0039] In some embodiments, the partition plate 60 extends from the top end to the bottom end of the first support 50A. The energy storage cabinet 20 may include a plurality of first battery packs 21A and a plurality of second battery packs 21B stacked along the first support 50A, with the exhaust port 25 of each of the first battery packs 21A communicating with the hot air flow path 69 of the first support 50A and the intake port 24 of each of the second battery packs 21B communicating with the cold air flow path 68 of the first support 50A (e.g., the pipe member 55 may have a plurality of first side openings 54A corresponding to the exhaust ports 25 of the plurality of first battery packs 21A, respectively, and may have a plurality of second side openings 54B corresponding to the intake ports 24 of the plurality of second battery packs 21B, respectively). In other words, the cold air flow path 68 of the first pillar 50A can divert cold air to the multiple battery packs 21 that are stacked, and the hot air flow path 69 of the first pillar 50A can merge the hot air discharged from the multiple battery packs 21 that are stacked into the hot air duct 59 (see the first cold air path P1 and the second hot air path P2 shown in Figure 1).
[0040] As shown in FIG. 4, the partition plate 60 has two sides 61, 62 that extend substantially vertically and are fixed to the inner wall of the tube member 55. The partition plate 60 further has a central portion 63 located between the two sides 61, 62. The central portion 63 may be fixed to the inner wall of the tube member 55 to prevent the partition plate 60 from swinging. The partition plate 60 is, for example, a metal plate. The partition plate 60 may be fixed to the tube member 55 by welding, screwing, or other suitable means. The partition plate 60 may have a stepped profile, specifically, the partition plate 60 may be bent in a stepped shape between the central portion 63 and the two sides 61, 62.
[0041] 4, the inner wall of the pipe member 55 has a first wall portion W1 and a second wall portion W2 facing each other, and the two side edges 61, 62 of the partition plate 60 may be fixed to the first wall portion W1, and the central portion 63 of the partition plate 60 is fixed to the second wall portion W2. In some embodiments, the number of cool air channels 68 is two and they are located on both sides of the central portion 63 of the partition plate 60, and the number of air intakes 24 of the second battery pack 21B is two and they communicate with the two cool air channels 68 via the two second side openings 54B of the pipe member 55, respectively.
[0042] Please refer to Figure 5. Figure 5 is a cross-sectional view of the energy storage cabinet 20 shown in Figure 1 taken along line 5-5'. As shown in the figure, the support pillar 50 provided between two battery packs 21 may include a partition plate 60, and the support pillar 50 not provided between two battery packs 21 does not necessarily include a partition plate 60. For example, the leftmost support pillar 50 in the figure (closest to the cooling device 28) may be used to transport only cold air, so it does not need to include the partition plate 60, and the rightmost support pillar 50 (farthest to the cooling device 28) may be used to transport only hot air, so it does not need to include the partition plate 60.
[0043] Please refer to FIG. 6. FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of the energy storage cabinet 20 shown in FIG. 1 taken along line 6-6'. As shown in the figure, in some embodiments, the energy storage cabinet 20 further includes a heat insulating member 70 provided on the top of the bracket 22. The heat insulating member 70 covers the cold air duct 58 and the battery pack 21 from above, and protects the cold air duct 58 and the battery pack 21 from direct irradiation of sunlight. The heat insulating member 70 may include one of a liquid storage tank and a heat insulating cover plate, or may include both a liquid storage tank and a heat insulating cover plate (for example, the liquid storage tank and the heat insulating cover plate may be stacked). The liquid storage tank may be used for pure water or other suitable liquid. The liquid in the liquid storage tank may be used for the firefighting function. The heat insulating cover plate may be made of a heat insulating material.
[0044] As shown in FIG. 6 , in some embodiments, the bracket 22 of the energy storage cabinet 20 further includes a main support 71, which is disposed outside the battery pack 21 and separated from the battery pack 21 to form a ventilation space 73, which contributes to heat dissipation of the battery pack 21.
[0045] Please refer to FIG. 7. FIG. 7 is a side view of an energy storage cabinet 20' according to another embodiment of the present disclosure. Different from the above embodiment, the cold air duct 58 of the energy storage cabinet 20' of this embodiment extends to pass under the battery pack 21, and the hot air duct 59 extends to pass over the battery pack 21. The cold air duct 58 is connected to the bottom end of at least some of the columns 50, and the hot air duct 59 is connected to the top end of at least some of the columns 50. The cold air outlet 27A and the hot air inlet 27B of the cooling device 28 are located at the bottom and top of the cooling device 28, respectively, and are connected to the cold air duct 58 and the hot air duct 59, respectively.
[0046] 7, the cold air generated by the cooling device 28 can flow along a first path P1, i.e., the cold air first flows through the cold air duct 58, then flows upward along the internal flow path of the support 50, and then flows into the internal space of the battery pack 21 from one side of the battery pack 21. The cold air is heated and converted into hot air when passing through the battery pack 21, and the temperature of the hot air is higher than that of the cold air. The hot air can flow along a second path P2, i.e., the hot air leaves the internal space of the battery pack 21 from the other side of the battery pack 21, then flows upward along the internal flow path of the support 50, then flows into the hot air duct 59, and finally returns to the cooling device 28.
[0047] To sum up, in the energy storage cabinet of the present disclosure, the support of the bracket is a hollow structure, and the hollow support can function as an air passage and communicate with the internal space of the battery pack, so that the support and the battery pack together form a narrow sealed space, and the cooling device of the energy storage cabinet generates an air flow circulating in the narrow sealed space, contributing to the temperature regulation of the battery pack.
