Abstract

To provide a method for producing an oxygen electrode for a solid oxide water electrolytic cell and the oxygen electrode, in which a change in performance is unlikely to occur after prolonged exposure to a high-oxygen and high-temperature environment.SOLUTION: A method for producing an oxygen electrode for a solid oxide water electrolytic cell comprises a perovskite-type oxide containing lanthanum, strontium, cobalt, and iron as main constituent elements. The method includes: a preparation step of preparing the perovskite-type oxide; an atmospheric air thermal exposure step of heating the perovskite-type oxide in an atmospheric air atmosphere to a temperature of 600°C or more and 800°C or less and exposing it for at least 72 hours; subsequently, a high-oxygen atmosphere thermal exposure step of further heating the perovskite-type oxide in a high-oxygen atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure of 50% or more to a temperature of 600°C or more and 800°C or less and exposing it for at least 72 hours; and a lattice volume measurement step of measuring a lattice volume of the perovskite-type oxide thereafter. The oxygen electrode is produced using the oxide having a lattice volume of 404.8 Å3 or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
