Abstract
To provide a steam sterilizer capable of efficiently cooling a heater, after a sterilization treatment came to an end and a method thereof.SOLUTION: The steam sterilizer according to the present invention comprises a chamber for accommodating the objects to be sterilized, the chamber having a gas inlet and outlet, a heater for heating the liquid supplied into the chamber, a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature inside the chamber, an air supply mechanism for supplying gas into the chamber through the inlet, and a control unit for controlling the operation of the heater and the air supply device. The control unit operates the air supply mechanism and performs a ventilation process, in which gas is supplied into the chamber through the inlet and gas inside the chamber is discharged outside through the outlet, when the temperature detected by the temperature sensor is equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature before the heater is activated to heat the liquid.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
