Abstract

To provide a coil component which prevents interference between an end of a wire and a substrate.SOLUTION: A coil component 1 comprises: a drum-type core 10; a terminal fitting 30A which is fixed to a flange part 11; and a wire W which is wound around a winding core part 13 and in which one end is connected to the terminal fitting 30A. The terminal fitting 30A comprises: a line connection part 31 to which the wire W is connected; and a mounting part 32 which has the spring property. The line connection part 31 and the mounting part 32 are overlapped on a surface S1 of the flange part 11 when viewed from a z direction. A distance between the surface S1 and a surface S3 of the mounting part 32 is longer than a distance between the surface S1 and a surface S2 of the line connection part 31. With this configuration, interference between the end of the wire W and the substrate is prevented without making the drum-type core 10 into a complicated shape and providing a protrusion part in the terminal fitting 30A. In addition, a crack hardly occurs in solder since the mounting part 32 has the spring property.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a coil component, and more particularly to a coil component having a structure in which a terminal fitting is fixed to a flange portion of a drum-shaped core. [Background technology]

[0002] Patent Document 1 discloses a coil component having a structure in which a terminal fitting is fixed to the flange of a drum-shaped core. The terminal fitting used in Patent Document 1 has an L-shape, and a wire is connected to the part covering the mounting surface of the flange. However, when the coil component described in Patent Document 1 is mounted on a board, there is a problem in that the end of the wire interferes with the board.

[0003] On the other hand, Patent Document 2 discloses a coil component in which a step is provided in the flange to prevent interference between the end of the wire and the board. However, in order to reliably prevent interference between the end of the wire and the board, it is necessary to provide a large step in the flange, which not only complicates the shape of the drum core but also reduces the volume of the drum core.

[0004] In contrast, the coil component described in Patent Document 3 prevents interference between the end of the wire and the board by raising the mounting portion of the terminal fitting above the flange portion of the drum-shaped core. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]

[0005] [Patent Document 1] JP 2018-006438 A [Patent Document 2] JP 2017-199841 A [Patent Document 3] Patent No. 6065122 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0006] However, the coil component described in Patent Document 3 has a problem in that the connection portion of the terminal fitting protrudes outward in the width direction of the drum core, which not only increases the mounting area but also makes the connection portion susceptible to damage due to the application of external forces.

[0007] Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a coil component in which interference between the end of the wire and the substrate is prevented without making the drum-shaped core complex in shape and without providing a protrusion on the terminal fitting. [Means for solving the problem]

[0008] A coil device according to the present invention includes a drum-shaped core having a winding core portion whose axial direction is a first direction, a first flange portion located at one end of the winding core portion in the first direction, and a second flange portion located at the other end of the winding core portion in the first direction, first and second terminal fittings fixed to the first and second flange portions, respectively, and a wire wound around the winding core portion, one end of which is connected to the first terminal fitting and the other end of which is connected to the second terminal fitting, the first and second flange portions having first surfaces extending in the first direction and a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, and the second terminal fitting has a connection portion to which a wire is connected and a mounting portion having spring properties relative to the drum-shaped core, the connection portion and the mounting portion overlap with the first surface when viewed from a third direction perpendicular to the first and second directions, the connection portion has a second surface extending in the first and second directions and facing in the same direction as the first surface, the mounting portion has a third surface extending in the first and second directions and facing in the same direction as the first surface, and the distance between the first surface and the third surface is greater than the distance between the first surface and the second surface.

[0009] According to the present invention, it is possible to prevent interference between the end of the wire and the board without making the drum core complex in shape and without providing a protrusion on the terminal fitting. Moreover, since the mounting part has spring properties, even if stress is applied to the solder due to the difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the drum core and the board, the stress is alleviated by the mounting part having spring properties, so that cracks are unlikely to occur in the solder.

[0010] In the present invention, the portion of the first surface that overlaps with the connecting portion and the portion that overlaps with the mounting portion when viewed from the third direction may be flush with each other, which makes it possible to simplify the shape of the drum core and ensure a sufficient volume of the drum core.

[0011] In the present invention, the mounting portion and the first surface may not be in contact with each other, and a gap may be formed in the third direction, which makes it possible to obtain high spring properties.

[0012] In the present invention, the mounting portion may include a first and a second mounting portion, and the connecting portion may be located between the first mounting portion and the second mounting portion, thereby further increasing the mounting strength.

[0013] In the present invention, the mounting portion may have a folded portion located between the first surface and the third surface, or may have a folded portion that is folded so as to locally shorten the distance to the first surface. With these, even if an external force is applied in the third direction after the coil component is mounted on the substrate, the drum core is less likely to be damaged.

[0014] In the present invention, the wire may be connected to the second surface of the connection part, or may be connected to a part different from the second surface of the connection part, the former making the wire connection easier, and the latter making it less likely that the end of the wire will interfere with the board. Effect of the Invention

[0015] In this way, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a coil component in which interference between the end of the wire and the substrate is prevented, without making the drum-shaped core complex in shape and without providing a protrusion on the terminal fitting. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0017] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0018] <First embodiment> Fig. 1 is a schematic perspective view showing the appearance of a coil device 1 according to a first embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 2 is a schematic exploded perspective view of the coil device 1.

[0019] As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the coil device 1 according to the first embodiment includes a drum core 10, a plate-shaped core 20, a terminal fitting 30A fixed to a first flange portion 11 of the drum core 10, a terminal fitting 40A fixed to a second flange portion 12 of the drum core 10, and a wire W wound around a winding core portion 13 of the drum core 10. One end of the wire W is connected to the terminal fitting 30A, and the other end of the wire W is connected to the terminal fitting 40A. The winding core portion 13 of the drum core 10 has an axial direction in the x direction, and a flange portion 11 is provided at one end in the axial direction, and a flange portion 12 is provided at the other end in the axial direction. The drum core 10 is made of a magnetic material with high magnetic permeability, such as Ni-Zn ferrite. Like the drum core 10, the plate core 20 is made of a magnetic material with high magnetic permeability, such as Ni-Zn ferrite, and is fixed to the flanges 11 and 12 with an adhesive or the like to form a loop-shaped closed magnetic circuit. In the present invention, it is not essential to use the plate core 20, but using the plate core 20 makes it possible to significantly increase inductance.

[0020] 3A is a schematic perspective view of the terminal fitting 30A, (b) is a yz front view, and (c) is an xz side view. Although not shown, the terminal fitting 40A has the same shape.

[0021] The terminal fitting 30A is a metal part made of a good conductor such as copper, and has a connecting portion 31, a mounting portion 32, and a connecting portion 33 connecting the connecting portion 31 and the mounting portion 32, as shown in FIG. 3. The terminal fitting 40A also has a connecting portion 41, a mounting portion 42, and a connecting portion 43. The connecting portion 31 is a portion to which the end of the wire W is connected, and the mounting portion 32 is a portion to be connected to a land pattern when the coil component 1 is mounted on a substrate. The connecting portion 33 is a plate-like body having a yz plane as a main surface, and covers the outer surface of the flange portion 11 constituting the yz plane, as shown in FIG. 1. The connecting portion 31 and the mounting portion 32 are portions in which the end of the connecting portion 33 is bent in the x direction, and each have surfaces S2 and S3 constituting the xy plane. The surfaces S2 and S3 are separated by a height H in the z direction. The surface S2 is the surface to which the end of the wire W is connected, and the surface S3 is the surface facing the land pattern of the board, both of which face in the same direction as the surface S1 of the flange portion 11.

[0022] The terminal fitting 30A can be fixed to the flange 11 by adhesive or the like applied to the surface S1 of the flange 11 that constitutes the xy plane. When the terminal fitting 30A is fixed to the flange 11, the connecting portion 31 and the mounting portion 32 overlap with the flange 11 when viewed from the z direction, and the connecting portion 33 overlaps with the flange 11 when viewed from the x direction. The width of the terminal fitting 30A in the y direction is narrower than the width of the flange 11 in the y direction, so that the terminal fitting 30A does not have a portion protruding from the flange 11 in the y direction. The connecting portion 31 is directly fixed to the surface S1 of the flange 11 by adhesive or the like, while the mounting portion 32 is not in contact with the surface S1 of the flange 11, so that a gap in the z direction is formed between the mounting portion 32 and the surface S1 of the flange 11. This allows the mounting portion 32 to have spring properties with respect to the drum core 10.

[0023] FIG. 4 is a schematic perspective view showing a state in which the coil component 1 according to the present embodiment is mounted on a substrate 6. As shown in FIG.

[0024] As shown in FIG. 4, when the coil component 1 according to the present embodiment is mounted on the substrate 6, the coil component 1 is mounted so that the land pattern P1 formed on the substrate 6 faces the surface S3 of the mounting portion 32 of the terminal fitting 30A, and the land pattern P2 formed on the substrate 6 faces the surface S3 of the mounting portion 42 of the terminal fitting 40A. The land patterns P1, P2 and the mounting portions 32, 42 are electrically and mechanically connected via the solder 7. Here, the distance in the z direction between the surface S1 of the flange portions 11, 12 and the surface S3 of the mounting portions 32, 42 is greater than the distance in the z direction between the surface S1 of the flange portions 11, 12 and the surface S2 of the connecting portions 31, 41 by a height H. Therefore, when the coil component 1 is mounted on the substrate 6, a gap corresponding to the height H is formed between the substrate 6 and the surface S2 of the connecting portions 31, 41. Therefore, the end of the wire W connected to the surface S2 of the connecting portions 31, 41 does not interfere with the substrate 6.

[0025] Moreover, the mounting parts 32, 42 are not directly fixed to the surfaces S1 of the flange parts 11, 12, and thus have spring properties. Therefore, even if a temperature change occurs after the coil component 1 is mounted on the substrate 6, the stress applied to the solder 7 is alleviated by the spring properties of the mounting parts 32, 42. This improves the mounting reliability of the coil component 1. In addition, the surfaces S1 of the flange parts 11, 12 are flat without any steps, and the parts overlapping with the connecting parts 31, 41 and the mounting parts 32, 42 form the same plane when viewed from the z direction. This makes the shape of the drum core 10 simpler and ensures a sufficient volume of the drum core 10. Furthermore, since there is no need to provide a land pattern in the parts overlapping with the connecting parts 31, 41, the stray capacitance component caused by the land pattern is also reduced.

[0026] <Second embodiment> FIG. 5 is a schematic perspective view showing the appearance of a coil device 2 according to the second embodiment of the present invention.

[0027] 5, the coil component 2 according to the second embodiment differs from the coil component 1 according to the first embodiment in that terminal fittings 50A, 60A are used instead of the terminal fittings 30A, 40A. Since the other basic configurations are the same as those of the coil component 1 according to the first embodiment, the same elements are given the same reference numerals and redundant explanations will be omitted.

[0028] 6A, 6B, and 6C are diagrams for explaining the shape of the terminal fitting 50A, where (a) is a schematic perspective view, (b) is a yz front view, and (c) is an xz side view. Although not shown, the terminal fitting 60A has the same shape.

[0029] As shown in FIG. 6, the terminal fitting 50A has a connecting portion 51, mounting portions 52 and 53, and a connecting portion 54 connecting the connecting portion 51 and the mounting portions 52 and 53. The connecting portion 51 is located between the mounting portions 52 and 53. The terminal fitting 60A also has a connecting portion 61, mounting portions 62 and 63, and a connecting portion 64 connecting the connecting portion 61 and the mounting portions 62 and 63. The connecting portion 51 is a portion to which an end of the wire W is connected, and the mounting portions 52 and 53 are portions to be connected to a land pattern when the coil component 2 is mounted on a substrate. The connecting portion 54 is a plate-like body having a yz plane as a main surface, and covers the outer surface of the flange portion 11 constituting the yz plane as shown in FIG. 5. The connecting portion 51 and the mounting portions 52 and 53 are portions in which the end of the connecting portion 54 is bent in the x direction, and each have surfaces S2 and S3 constituting the xy plane. The surface S2 and the surface S3 are separated in the z direction by a height H. The surface S2 is the surface to which the end of the wire W is connected, and the surface S3 is the surface facing the land pattern of the board.

[0030] The terminal fitting 50A can be fixed to the flange 11 by an adhesive or the like applied to the surface S1 of the flange 11 that constitutes the xy plane. When the terminal fitting 50A is fixed to the flange 11, the connecting portion 51 and the mounting portions 52, 53 overlap with the flange 11 when viewed from the z direction, and the connecting portion 54 overlaps with the flange 11 when viewed from the x direction. The width of the terminal fitting 50A in the y direction is narrower than the width of the flange 11 in the y direction, so that the terminal fitting 50A does not have a portion that protrudes from the flange 11 in the y direction. The connecting portion 51 is directly fixed to the surface S1 of the flange 11 by an adhesive or the like, while the mounting portions 52, 53 are not in contact with the surface S1 of the flange 11, and a gap in the z direction is formed between the mounting portions 52, 53 and the surface S1 of the flange 11. This provides the mounting portions 52 and 53 with spring properties relative to the drum core 10.

[0031] FIG. 7 is a schematic perspective view showing a state in which the coil component 2 according to the present embodiment is mounted on a substrate 6. As shown in FIG.

[0032] As shown in Fig. 7, when the coil component 2 according to this embodiment is mounted on the substrate 6, the coil component 2 is mounted so that the land pattern P1 formed on the surface of the substrate 6 faces the surface S3 of the mounting parts 52, 53 of the terminal fitting 50A, and the land pattern P2 formed on the surface of the substrate 6 faces the surface S3 of the mounting parts 62, 63 of the terminal fitting 60A. The land patterns P1, P2 and the mounting parts 52, 53, 62, 63 are electrically and mechanically connected via the solder 7. The land pattern P1 may be divided into a portion facing the mounting part 52 and a portion facing the mounting part 53. Similarly, the land pattern P2 may be divided into a portion facing the mounting part 62 and a portion facing the mounting part 63. As in the first embodiment, the distance in the z direction between surface S1 of flange portions 11, 12 and surface S3 of mounting portions 52, 53, 62, 63 is greater than the distance in the z direction between surface S1 of flange portions 11, 12 and surface S2 of connecting portions 51, 61 by a height H, and therefore, when coil component 2 is mounted on substrate 6, a gap corresponding to height H is formed between substrate 6 and surface S2 of connecting portions 51, 61. For this reason, the end of wire W connected to surface S2 of connecting portions 51, 61 does not interfere with substrate 6.

[0033] Moreover, since the mounting parts 52, 53, 62, 63 are not directly fixed to the surfaces S1 of the flange parts 11, 12 and thus have spring properties, even if a temperature change occurs after the coil component 2 is mounted on the substrate 6, the stress applied to the solder 7 is mitigated by the spring properties of the mounting parts 52, 53, 62, 63. This improves the mounting reliability of the coil component 2. Furthermore, since the two mounting parts 52, 53 are connected to the land pattern P1 and the two mounting parts 62, 63 are connected to the land pattern P2, it is possible to obtain a mounting strength higher than that of the first embodiment.

[0034] <Third embodiment> FIG. 8 is a schematic perspective view showing the appearance of a coil device 3 according to the third embodiment of the present invention.

[0035] 8, the coil device 3 according to the third embodiment differs from the coil device 1 according to the first embodiment in that terminal fittings 30B, 40B are used instead of the terminal fittings 30A, 40A. Since the other basic configurations are the same as those of the coil device 1 according to the first embodiment, the same elements are denoted by the same reference numerals and redundant explanations will be omitted.

[0036] FIG. 9 is a schematic partial perspective view for illustrating the shape of the terminal fitting 30B.

[0037] 9, terminal fitting 30B differs from terminal fitting 30A described above in that mounting portion 32 has a folded portion 34 located between surfaces S1 and S3. Folded portion 34 is a portion where the tip of mounting portion 32 is folded inward by 180 degrees, and in this embodiment does not contact surface S1 of flange portion 11. Terminal fitting 40B also has a similar folded portion 44.

[0038] In this manner, in the coil component 3 according to the present embodiment, since the terminal fittings 30B, 40B have the folded-back portions 34, 44, when an external force in the z direction is applied to the coil component 3 after mounting on the substrate 6, the folded-back portions 34, 44 come into contact with the surfaces S1 of the flange portions 11, 12, suppressing the displacement of the drum core 10 in the z direction. This makes it less likely that the drum core 10 will be damaged due to a large displacement in the z direction caused by an external force.

[0039] In this embodiment, the folded portions 34, 44 of the terminal fittings 30B, 40B are not in contact with the surfaces S1 of the flange portions 11, 12, but since the mounting portions 32, 42 having the folded portions 34, 44 themselves have spring properties, it is not a problem if the two are in contact.

[0040] <Fourth embodiment> FIG. 10 is a schematic perspective view showing the appearance of a coil device 4 according to the fourth embodiment of the present invention.

[0041] 10, the coil component 4 according to the fourth embodiment differs from the coil component 2 according to the second embodiment in that terminal fittings 50B, 60B are used instead of the terminal fittings 50A, 60A. Since the other basic configurations are the same as those of the coil component 2 according to the second embodiment, the same elements are denoted by the same reference numerals and redundant explanations will be omitted.

[0042] FIG. 11 is a schematic partial perspective view for illustrating the shape of the terminal fitting 50B.

[0043] 11, terminal fitting 50B differs from terminal fitting 50A described above in that mounting portions 52, 53 have bent portions 55, 56 that are bent toward surface S1 of flange 11. As a result, mounting portions 52, 53 are locally closer to surface S1 of flange 11 at bent portions 55, 56. In this embodiment, bent portions 55, 56 are not in contact with surface S1 of flange 11. Terminal fitting 60B also has similar bent portions 65, 66.

[0044] In this manner, in the coil component 4 according to the present embodiment, the terminal fittings 50B, 60B have the bent portions 55, 56, 65, 66, and therefore when an external force in the z direction is applied to the coil component 4 after mounting on the substrate 6, the bent portions 55, 56, 65, 66 come into contact with the surfaces S1 of the flange portions 11, 12, suppressing the displacement of the drum core 10 in the z direction. This makes it less likely that the drum core 10 will be damaged due to a large displacement in the z direction caused by an external force.

[0045] In this embodiment, the bent portions 55, 56, 65, 66 of the terminal fittings 50B, 60B are not in contact with the surfaces S1 of the flange portions 11, 12, but since the mounting portions 52, 53, 62, 63 having the bent portions 55, 56, 65, 66 themselves have spring properties, it is acceptable for the two to be in contact.

[0046] <Fifth embodiment> FIG. 12 is a partial side view showing the configuration of a main part of a coil device 5 according to a fifth embodiment of the present invention.

[0047] As shown in FIG. 12, in the coil component 5 according to the fifth embodiment, one end of the wire W is not formed on the surface S2 of the connection part 31, but is connected to the surface S4 of the connection part 31 via a conductive member 70 such as solder. Although not shown, the other end of the wire W is similar. Since the other basic configuration is the same as that of the coil component 1 according to the first embodiment, the same elements are given the same reference numerals and redundant explanations are omitted. The surface S4 of the connection part 31 is an xy plane facing the surface S1 of the flange part 11, and a conductive member 70 is provided between the surface S1 and the surface S4. The end of the wire W is connected to this conductive member 70. With this configuration, when the coil component 5 is mounted on the substrate 6, interference between the wire W and the substrate 6 is less likely to occur.

[0048] Although a preferred embodiment of the present invention has been described above, the present invention is not limited to the above embodiment, and various modifications are possible without departing from the spirit of the present invention, and it goes without saying that these modifications are also included within the scope of the present invention.
