[0002] The present invention is based on the integration of at least one turn of a winding wound around a magnetic core of a transformer or autotransformer, at least one switch and at least one capacitor arranged oppositely, thereby dividing or isolating the at least one turn into four distinct segments, i.e. providing a segmented winding.

[0003] The load is further integrated and housed within a magnetic core, which is surrounded by a segmented winding having at least one switch and at least one capacitor on at least two sides.

[0004] In the present invention, the term "cell" is used to refer to a complete / full turn of a winding / coil of a transformer or autotransformer incorporating at least one power switch and at least one capacitor connected in series, positioned opposite each other, facing both sides of a magnetic core. The winding may be either a primary winding or a secondary winding.

[0006] EP 1 536 435 A1 discloses a circuit board having openings. Each separate magnetic flux path passes through at least one of the openings to form a closed loop surrounding an interior space. The magnetic flux paths include a portion located within a magnetically permeable core piece. At least two magnetic flux paths are oriented such that there is a straight line in the circuit board, which passes through the interior space of the two magnetic flux paths without passing through any of the openings contained therein. An electrically conductive primary winding has a first segment that passes through the interior space of the magnetically permeable paths and a second segment that is located outside the interior space. There are two or more electrically conductive secondary windings.

[0007] Ionel Dan Jitaru of Rompower Energy Systems Inc., in his technical paper “GaN Technology as an enabler for Higher Efficiency Magnetics”, discloses several switching topologies and, referring to leakage inductance in transformers, indicates on page 9 that “in some applications, an additional inductive element is placed in series with the primary winding to add to the leakage inductance” but does not provide any hint about including switches or capacitors within the turns of the primary or secondary windings.
