Abstract

According to the present invention, when a side of a vehicle undergoes an impact, an impact load is transmitted to a first bracket (20) from a front end (18A) of an impact bar (18) while the impact bar (18) is deformed inward in a vehicle width direction. The first bracket (20) is deformed so as to extend inward in the vehicle width direction, and upon reaching a fully extended stage, a junction point between a first inner panel attachment portion (24) and a flange portion (1206) is broken by the impact load. Meanwhile, the impact load inputted to the impact bar (18) is also transmitted to a second bracket (22) from the front end (18A) of the impact bar (18). When the impact load is transmitted to the second bracket (22), a bending portion (52) is deformed so as to extend inward in the vehicle width direction. Therefore, the impact load inputted to a junction point between a second inner panel attachment portion (46) and a front wall portion (1204) is absorbed by the bending portion (52). Thus, breakage of the junction point between the second inner panel attachment portion (46) and the front wall portion (1204) is inhibited.

Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a mounting structure for an impact bar. [Background technology]

[0002] An impact bar mounting structure has been proposed in which excess length is provided in the brackets that attach both ends of the impact bar to the door inner panels of the side doors, and the excess length absorbs the collision load applied to the impact bar during a side collision, thereby preventing the joint between the bracket and the inner panel from breaking (see Patent Document 1). [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]

[0003] [Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent Publication No. 2014-162301 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0004] However, in the above-mentioned conventional technology, the impact bar is unable to sufficiently absorb the collision load in the early stage of the collision, and there is room for improvement in terms of improving the occupant protection function. The present invention has been developed in consideration of the above circumstances, and its purpose is to provide an impact bar mounting structure that can sufficiently absorb the collision load during a side collision caused by an impact bar from the early stage of the collision to the final stage of the collision, and is advantageous in improving the protection function of occupants. [Means for solving the problem]

[0005] In order to achieve the above-mentioned object, one embodiment of the present invention is a side door of a vehicle comprising an inner panel, an outer panel, and an impact bar extending in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle and attached to the inner panel, wherein one side end of the impact bar in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle is attached to the inner panel via a first bracket and a second bracket, the first bracket has a first mounting portion attached to the inner panel, a second mounting portion attached to the impact bar, and a connection portion extending in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle and connecting the first mounting portion and the second mounting portion in a substantially straight line, and the second bracket has a third mounting portion attached to the inner panel, a fourth mounting portion attached to the impact bar, and a curved portion provided between the third mounting portion and the fourth mounting portion, extending in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle and curved in the vehicle width direction. Effect of the Invention

[0006] According to one embodiment of the present invention, when a side collision occurs to a vehicle, the initial load of the collision transmitted through the impact bar can be received by the first bracket. At this time, the second bracket is deformed so that the curved portion stretches, so that a large load is not input to the joint between the third mounting portion of the second bracket and the inner panel, and fracture of the joint between the third mounting portion and the inner panel is suppressed. Therefore, even if the joint between the first mounting portion and the inner panel breaks before the end of the collision, the second bracket is joined to the inner panel at the third mounting portion, so that the collision load input to the impact bar can be withstood by the second bracket. Therefore, the impact bar can sufficiently absorb the collision load during a side collision from the initial stage of the collision to the final stage of the collision, which is advantageous in improving the occupant protection function. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0008] (First embodiment) Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In the drawings, the symbol FR indicates the front in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle, the symbol IN indicates the inside in the width direction of the vehicle, the symbol OUT indicates the outside in the width direction of the vehicle, and the symbol UP indicates the upper side of the vehicle. As shown in FIG. 1, in this embodiment, a vehicle side door (side door) 10 is a front side door that opens and closes the entrance / exit on the driver's seat side or the passenger seat side. Of course, the present invention can also be applied to rear side doors and the like.

[0009] As shown in Figures 1 and 3, the side door 10 comprises a door inner panel 12 located on the inside in the vehicle width direction, and a door outer panel 14 arranged on the outside in the vehicle width direction of the door inner panel 12 and whose periphery is connected to the door inner panel 12. As shown in FIG. 1, the door inner panel 12 comprises an inner panel main body 1202, a front wall portion 1204 (vertical wall portion) that stands outward from the front edge of the inner panel main body 1202, and a flange portion 1206 (horizontal wall portion) that extends forward of the vehicle from the outer end of the front wall portion 1204 in the vehicle width direction. The side door 10 is mounted so as to be able to swing open and close the door opening on the side of the vehicle body via door hinges 16A, 16B attached to hinge mounting portions provided respectively on the upper and lower parts of the front wall portion 1204 of the door inner panel 12.

[0010] An impact bar 18 is provided at the bottom of the side door 10 to protect the occupant from a collision load in the event of a side collision. In this embodiment, the impact bar 18 is provided extending over substantially the entire length of the side door 10 in the vehicle front-rear direction. The impact bar 18 is in the form of a hollow pipe made of a metal material. The rear end of the impact bar 18 is attached to the inner panel body 1202 via a rear bracket 19 . As shown in FIG. 3, the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 is attached to the vehicle front end portion of the door inner panel 12, specifically, to the location of the door inner panel 12 where the lower door hinge 16B is attached (near the hinge mounting portion) via a first bracket 20 and a second bracket 22.

[0011] As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the first bracket 20 is made of sheet metal and includes a first inner panel mounting portion (first mounting portion) 24, a first connection portion 26, and a first impact bar mounting portion (second mounting portion) . The first inner panel mounting portion 24 is a portion that is attached to the flange portion 1206 of the door inner panel 12, and is substantially flat. The first inner panel mounting portion 24 is joined to the flange portion 1206 of the door inner panel 12 by spot welding at multiple points spaced apart in the vertical direction. The first inner panel mounting portion 24 laps over the lower hinge mounting portion in the vehicle width direction. In the drawing, the symbol * indicates the welding point.

[0012] 3, the first connection portion 26 extends in a substantially straight line and inclined inward in the vehicle width direction toward the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle front end of the first connection portion 26 is continuously connected to the vehicle rear end of the first inner panel mounting portion 24 via a curved portion 40. The vehicle rear end of the first connection portion 26 is continuously connected to the first impact bar mounting portion 28.

[0013] 2 and 3, the first impact bar mounting portion 28 is a location where the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 is attached. The first impact bar mounting portion 28 is continuously connected to the vehicle rear end of the first connection portion 26 via a curved portion, extends in the vehicle front-rear direction, and is welded to the impact bar 18 at a position inside the impact bar 18 in the vehicle width direction.

[0014] The first bracket 20 is provided with a pair of ribs 30, 32 that protrude outward in the vehicle width direction and extend in the vehicle front-rear direction at a distance from each other in the vehicle up-down direction. Hereinafter, the rib on the upper side of the pair of ribs 30, 32 is referred to as the upper rib 30, and the lower rib is referred to as the lower rib 32. The upper rib 30 and the lower rib 32 extend from the first inner panel mounting portion 24 to the first impact bar mounting portion 28. In the first impact bar mounting portion 28, a portion between the upper rib 30 and the lower rib 32 is a recess 44 that is recessed more inward in the vehicle width direction than a portion 36 above the upper rib 30 and a portion 38 below the lower rib 32. The recess 44 is formed by a bottom portion 4402 that extends in the vehicle up-down direction and a pair of side surfaces 4404 that rise from the upper and lower ends of the bottom portion 4402 to extend in the vehicle width direction and are connected to the upper rib 30 and the lower rib 32, respectively. The impact bar 18 is welded to the pair of side surfaces 4404.

[0015] As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the second bracket 22 is disposed on the inner side of the first bracket 20 in the vehicle width direction, and supports the impact bar 18 together with the first bracket 20. The second bracket 22 includes a second inner panel mounting portion (third mounting portion) 46, a second connection portion 48, and a second impact bar mounting portion (fourth mounting portion) 50. The second inner panel mounting portions 46 are portions that are attached to the front wall portion 1204, and are provided as a pair spaced apart in the vertical direction. The pair of second inner panel mounting portions 46 are attached to portions adjacent to the lower hinge mounting portion of the front wall portion 1204 so as to sandwich the lower hinge mounting portion therebetween.

[0016] 3 and 4, the second connection portion 48 is provided between the second inner panel mounting portion 46 and the second impact bar mounting portion 50, and is a portion that connects the second inner panel mounting portion 46 and the second impact bar mounting portion 50. The second connection portion 48 has a curved portion 52 that extends in the vehicle front-rear direction and is curved in the vehicle width direction. The curved portion 52 includes a first curved portion 54 located on the second inner panel mounting portion 46 side, and a second curved portion 56 located on the second impact bar mounting portion 50 side. The first curved portion 54 is located further forward of the vehicle than the front end of the impact bar 18. The second curved portion 56 is located within the vehicle front-rear direction range of the impact bar 18. In other words, the second curved portion 56 overlaps the impact bar 18 when viewed from the vehicle width direction. The first curved portion 54 comprises a vertical plate portion 5402 (first plate portion) extending from the second inner panel mounting portion 46 toward the rear of the vehicle, and a horizontal plate portion 5404 (second plate portion) extending from the rear end of the vertical plate portion 5402 outward in the vehicle width direction, and the first curved portion 54 is convex toward the inside in the vehicle width direction. 4, a notch 5406 that is open toward the front of the vehicle is formed in the vertical middle portion of the front edge of the vertical plate portion 5402. The pair of second inner panel mounting portions 46 are connected via curved portions to the front edges of the vertical plate portion 5402 located above and below the notch 5406. The vertical plate portions 5402 located above and below the notch 5406 are inclined upward and downward so as to move away from the vertical center of the second connecting portion 48 toward the front of the vehicle. The rear end of the vertical plate portion 5402 is connected to the horizontal plate portion 5404 via a curved portion. As shown in Fig. 3, the horizontal plate portion 5404 is disposed at a position where it overlaps the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 in the vehicle width direction.

[0017] 3, the second curved portion 56 is provided in a convex shape on the inside in the vehicle width direction, and is provided at a distance from the first curved portion 54 rearward of the vehicle. That is, the second connection portion 48 has an intermediate plate portion 4802 extending rearward of the vehicle from the outer end of the horizontal plate portion 5404 in the vehicle width direction, and the front end of the second curved portion 56 is connected to the rear end of the intermediate plate portion 4802 via a curved portion. Also, the rear end of the second curved portion 56 is connected to the second impact bar attachment portion 50 via a curved portion. The height of the second curved portion 56 protruding from the intermediate plate portion 4802 toward the inside in the vehicle width direction is smaller than the height of the first curved portion 54 protruding from the intermediate plate portion 4802.

[0018] As shown in FIG. 4, the second impact bar attachment portion 50 is a portion that is attached to the impact bar 18, and has a flat, substantially rectangular plate shape. In this embodiment, the second impact bar mounting portion 50 is overlapped with the bottom 4402 of the recess 44 of the first impact bar mounting portion 28 from the inside in the vehicle width direction and joined by spot welding. In this way, the second impact bar mounting portion 50 is attached to the impact bar 18 via the first bracket 20.

[0019] Next, the function and effect in the event of a side collision will be described. According to this embodiment, when a side collision occurs to the vehicle, the collision load is input to the impact bar 18 through the door outer panel 14, causing the impact bar 18 to deform inward in the vehicle width direction while the collision load is transmitted from the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 to the first bracket 20. The first bracket 20 deforms so as to stretch inward in the vehicle width direction, and when it finally reaches a fully stretched stage, the joint between the first inner panel mounting portion 24 and the flange portion 1206 breaks due to the collision load. On the other hand, the collision load input to the impact bar 18 is also transmitted from the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 to the second bracket 22. When a collision load is transmitted to the second bracket 22, the curved portion 52 deforms so as to extend inward in the vehicle width direction, and the collision load input to the joint between the second inner panel mounting portion 46 and the front wall portion 1204 is absorbed by the curved portion 52. Therefore, the joint between the second inner panel mounting portion 46 and the front wall portion 1204 is prevented from breaking. Therefore, since the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 remains supported by the second bracket 22, even if the joint between the first inner panel mounting portion 24 and the flange portion 1206 breaks, the impact bar 18 can sufficiently absorb the collision load during a side collision, which is advantageous in improving the protection function for the occupants. Furthermore, since the collision load at the initial stage of the collision can be received by the first bracket 20, the collision load can be sufficiently absorbed from the initial stage of the collision.

[0020] In the present embodiment, the first curved portion 54 of the curved portion 52 has a vertical plate portion 5402 extending in the vehicle front-rear direction and a horizontal plate portion 5404 extending in the vehicle width direction, and the horizontal plate portion 5404 overlaps the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 in the vehicle width direction. Therefore, in the event of a side collision, the first bracket 20 receives a load and deforms, and the horizontal plate portion 5404 can receive a certain amount of the load. As a result, the collision load can be distributed and received by the first bracket 20 and the second bracket 22, and the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 can be more reliably maintained in a state where it is supported by the first bracket 20 and the second bracket 22, which is more advantageous for the impact bar 18 to absorb the collision load during a side collision.

[0021] In the present embodiment, the curved portion 52 has a first curved portion 54 located forward of the front end of the impact bar 18 when viewed from the vehicle width direction, and a second curved portion 56 located within the vehicle front-rear direction range of the impact bar 18. Therefore, in the event of a side collision, when a collision load is input to the curved portion 52, the first curved portion 54 extends first, and then the second curved portion 56 extends. Therefore, the collision load input to the impact bar 18 during a side collision can be absorbed in two stages, and the load is less likely to be concentrated on the second inner panel mounting portion 46. Therefore, the state in which the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 is supported by the second bracket 22 can be more reliably maintained, which is more advantageous in terms of the impact bar 18 absorbing the collision load during a side collision.

[0022] In addition, in this embodiment, the first inner panel mounting portion 24 of the first bracket 20 is welded to the surface of the flange portion 1206 of the door inner panel 12 facing in the vehicle width direction, and the second inner panel mounting portion 46 of the second bracket 22 is joined to the surface of the front wall portion 1204 of the door inner panel 12 facing in the vehicle fore-and-aft direction. As a result, the first inner panel mounting portion 24 and the second inner panel mounting portion 46 are welded in directions that differ by approximately 90 degrees, and even if a load is input in a direction that makes it easier for one of the welds between the first inner panel mounting portion 24 and the second inner panel mounting portion 46 to break, the load will be input in a direction that makes it harder for the other weld to break, which is more advantageous for the impact bar 18 to absorb collision loads during a side collision.

[0023] In addition, in this embodiment, the first inner panel mounting portion 24 of the first bracket 20 and the second inner panel mounting portion 46 of the second bracket 22 are located in the vicinity of the hinge mounting portion where the door hinge 16B of the door inner panel 12 is attached. Therefore, the first bracket 20 and the second bracket 22 are joined to the portion of the door inner panel 12 reinforced by the door hinge 16B. Therefore, the load transmitted from the first bracket 20 and the second bracket 22 can be more reliably received by the door inner panel 12, which is more advantageous for the impact bar 18 to absorb the collision load during a side collision.

[0024] (Second embodiment) Next, a second embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. The second embodiment is a modified example of the first embodiment, and is similar to the first embodiment in that the first bracket 60 has a first inner panel mounting portion (first mounting portion) 64 attached to the inner panel, a first impact bar mounting portion (second mounting portion) 68 attached to the impact bar 18, and a first connection portion (connection portion) 66 connecting the first inner panel mounting portion 64 and the first impact bar mounting portion 68 in a substantially straight line, and the second bracket 62 has a second inner panel mounting portion (third mounting portion) 70 attached to the door inner panel 12, a second impact bar mounting portion (fourth mounting portion) 72 attached to the impact bar 18, and a curved portion 74 curved in the vehicle width direction provided between the second inner panel mounting portion 70 and the second impact bar mounting portion 72, but the shapes of the first bracket 60 and the second bracket 62 are different from those of the first embodiment. In the second embodiment described below, the same parts and members as those in the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and the description thereof will be omitted, and the differences will be mainly described.

[0025] In more detail, as shown in Figures 6 and 7, the first bracket 60 differs from the first embodiment in that mounting flanges 76 are provided on the top and bottom of the rear end of the first impact bar mounting portion 28, and top and bottom mounting pieces 78 of the second impact bar mounting portion 72 of the second bracket 62, which will be described later, are fastened to these mounting flanges 76 with bolts B and nuts N. As shown in FIGS. 5 and 7, the upper and lower mounting flanges 76 protrude upward and downward from the first impact bar mounting portion 68, respectively.

[0026] As shown in FIG. 6, the second inner panel mounting portion 70 is joined by spot welding to a portion of the front wall portion 1204 adjacent to the inside in the vehicle width direction of the hinge mounting portion to which the door hinge 16B is attached.

[0027] The second connection portion 71 has a curved portion 74 that is curved in the vehicle width direction. The curved portion 74 includes a vertical plate portion 7402 (first plate portion) that extends from the second inner panel mounting portion 70 at an angle toward the rear of the vehicle and inward in the vehicle width direction, and a horizontal plate portion 7404 (second plate portion) that is connected to the vehicle rear end of the vertical plate portion 7402 via a curved portion and extends outward in the vehicle width direction. The curved portion 74 is convex toward the inside in the vehicle width direction. The second connection portion 71 further has an intermediate plate portion 80 that is connected to the outer end of the horizontal plate portion 7404 in the vehicle width direction via a curved portion and extends toward the rear of the vehicle.

[0028] As shown in FIG. 7, the second impact bar mounting portion 72 includes a rear plate portion 82 that is continuous with the rear end of the intermediate plate portion 80, and upper and lower mounting pieces 78 that are connected to the upper and lower ends of the rear plate portion 82. 6 and 7, the rear plate portion 82 is located at a location away from the first impact bar mounting portion 68 on the inner side in the vehicle width direction. The upper and lower mounting pieces 78 extend in the vertical direction of the vehicle and are inclined toward the outer side in the vehicle width direction, i.e., toward the first impact bar mounting portion 68 side, as they move away from the rear plate portion 82, and are fastened to the mounting flange 76 at their tips.

[0029] Although the second embodiment as described above provides the same effects as the first embodiment, the second embodiment is slightly different from the first embodiment in the following points. According to the second embodiment, when a side collision occurs to the vehicle, the collision load is input to the impact bar 18, and the collision load is transmitted from the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 to the first bracket 60, and eventually the collision load causes the joint between the first inner panel mounting portion 64 and the flange portion 1206 to break.

[0030] On the other hand, the collision load input to the impact bar 18 is also transmitted from the impact bar 18 to the second bracket 62 via the mounting flange 76 of the first bracket 60 . In addition, the collision load is also transmitted to the second bracket 62 when the first impact bar mounting portion 68 of the first bracket 60 deforms inward in the vehicle width direction due to the collision load and comes into contact with the second bracket 62 . After the joint between the first inner panel mounting portion 64 and the flange portion 1206 breaks, the curved portion 74 of the second bracket 62 deforms so as to extend inward in the vehicle width direction. Furthermore, after the curved portion 74 has deformed and fully extended, the collision load is also absorbed by the deformation of the pair of mounting pieces 78 of the second bracket 62, thereby preventing the joint between the second inner panel mounting portion 70 and the front wall portion 1204 from breaking. Therefore, the front end 18A of the impact bar 18 remains supported by the second bracket 62, allowing the impact bar 18 to absorb the collision load during a side collision, which is advantageous in improving the protection function for occupants.

[0031] In this embodiment, the present invention has been described as being applied to the mounting structure of the impact bar 18 at the front end of the vehicle, but it goes without saying that the present invention can also be applied to the mounting structure of the impact bar 18 at the rear end of the vehicle. In this embodiment, the curved portions 52, 74 are convex toward the inside in the vehicle width direction, but the same effect can be obtained even if they are convex toward the outside in the vehicle width direction. However, making the curved portions 52, 74 convex toward the inside in the vehicle width direction is advantageous in that the joint between the second inner panel mounting portion 70 and the front wall portion 1204 is less likely to break when the curved portions 52, 74 are fully extended.

[0032] Although various embodiments have been described above, it goes without saying that the present invention is not limited to such examples. It is clear that a person skilled in the art can come up with various modified or revised examples within the scope of the claims, and it is understood that these also naturally belong to the technical scope of the present invention. Furthermore, the components in the above-mentioned embodiments may be arbitrarily combined within the scope of the invention.

[0033] This application is based on a Japanese patent application (Patent Application No. 2022-054883) filed on March 30, 2022, the contents of which are incorporated by reference into this application. [Explanation of symbols]
