Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to an electric wire with connector and a method for manufacturing the same. [Background technology]
[0002] Conventionally, an electric wire with a terminal is known, which includes an electric wire and a terminal connected to the conductor of the electric wire. When such an electric wire with a terminal is used in a place where water may enter, such as an engine compartment of an automobile, water may adhere to the connection part between the terminal and the conductor of the electric wire, causing the terminal and the conductor to corrode. Therefore, an electric wire with a terminal is known in which the connection part between the terminal and the conductor is covered with a heat shrink tube to prevent water from entering the connection part.
[0003] Patent Document 1 discloses a waterproof structure for an earth terminal for automobiles. In this structure, a core wire is crimped by a core wire crimping barrel, and an insulating coating of an electric wire is crimped by an insulating coating crimping barrel. One end of a heat shrink tube completely covers the core wire crimped by the core wire crimping barrel, and the other end is in close contact with the electric wire. An adhesive is applied to the inner circumferential surface of the heat shrink tube, and the adhesive adheres to the earth terminal and the electric wire to eliminate gaps. [0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2000-285983 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0005] According to Patent Document 1, the adhesive on the inner circumferential surface of the heat shrink tube fills the gaps between the core wires, thereby preventing water from penetrating between the multiple strands. However, due to variations in the diameters of the strands and the conductor diameter, the adhesive may not penetrate sufficiently to the center of the conductor. In particular, when the electric wire is bent while there are gaps between the conductors, the gaps between the core wires may become large, making it easier for water to penetrate into the ends of the electric wire.
[0006] The present invention has been made in view of the problems inherent in the conventional techniques, and an object of the present invention is to provide an electric wire with a connector capable of preventing water from entering an end portion of the electric wire. [Means for solving the problem]
[0007] The electric wire with connector according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a conductor and an insulating coating that covers the outer periphery of the conductor, and includes an electric wire provided with a conductor exposed portion where the conductor is exposed from the insulating coating, and a conductor coated portion where the conductor is coated with the insulating coating. The electric wire with connector includes a terminal including a conductor connecting portion connected to the conductor exposed portion, a terminal connecting portion configured to connect to a counterpart terminal, and a connecting portion that connects the conductor connecting portion and the terminal connecting portion. The electric wire with connector includes a housing including a first case and a second case, and an adhesive is provided between the entire periphery of the edge of the first case and the entire periphery of the edge of the second case. A first portion of the conductor coating portion and the terminal connecting portion are exposed from the housing. A second portion of the conductor coating portion provided closer to the conductor exposed portion than the first portion is sandwiched between a part of the edge of the first case and a part of the edge of the second case via the adhesive, and the entire periphery of the second portion of the electric wire is surrounded by the adhesive, thereby suppressing water from entering between the housing and the electric wire. The connecting portion is sandwiched between a part of an edge of the first case and a part of an edge of the second case via an adhesive, and the entire periphery of the connecting portion is surrounded by the adhesive, thereby preventing water from entering between the housing and the connecting portion. At least one of the first case and the second case is provided with a recess. The conductor connection portion is sealed in a space formed by the recess and entirely surrounded by the first case, the second case, and the adhesive, and the adhesive prevents water from entering between the first case and the second case.
[0008] A method for manufacturing an electric wire with a connector according to another aspect of the present invention includes a step of connecting the conductor exposed portion of an electric wire, which includes a conductor and an insulating coating that covers the outer periphery of the conductor, and which is provided with a conductor exposed portion where the conductor is exposed from the insulating coating and a conductor coated portion where the conductor is coated with the insulating coating, to a conductor connecting portion of a terminal, which includes a conductor connecting portion configured to connect to the conductor exposed portion, a terminal connecting portion configured to connect to a counterpart terminal, and a coupling portion that couples the conductor connecting portion and the terminal connecting portion; the adhesive applied to at least the edge of the second case to which the joint is attached, sandwiching the entire periphery of the conductor covering portion and the entire periphery of the connecting portion with an adhesive applied to at least the edge of the second case to which the joint is attached, and preventing water from entering between a housing including the first and second cases and the electric wire, between the housing and the connecting portion, and between the first and second cases, using the adhesive applied to the edge of the first case and the adhesive applied to the edge of the second case; and sealing the conductor connection portion in a space formed by a recess provided in at least one of the first and second cases and entirely surrounded by the first and second cases and the adhesive. [0017] Thermoplastic resin capable of ensuring electrical insulation can be used as the material of the insulating coating 12. The material of the insulating coating 12 may contain, for example, at least one of an olefin-based resin and polyvinyl chloride. The olefin-based resin may contain, for example, at least one resin selected from the group consisting of polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), an ethylene copolymer, and a propylene copolymer.
[0018] The terminal 20 includes a conductor connecting portion 21, a terminal connecting portion 22, and a coupling portion 23. The conductor connecting portion 21 is provided at one end of the terminal 20, and the terminal connecting portion 22 is provided at the other end of the terminal 20.
[0019] The conductor connecting portion 21 is connected to the conductor exposed portion 13. The conductor connecting portion 21 is configured to be connected to the conductor exposed portion 13 of the electric wire 10, thereby being mechanically and electrically connected to the conductor 11. The conductor connecting portion 21 covers the conductor exposed portion 13 so as to surround the conductor 11 in the circumferential direction.
[0020] The terminal connection portion 22 is configured to be connected to a counterpart terminal (not shown). The terminal connection portion 22 is connected to the terminal connection portion of the counterpart terminal, so that the terminal 20 is mechanically and electrically connected to the counterpart terminal. The terminal connection portion 22 protrudes from the surface of the housing 30 and is exposed. In a cross section cut along a YZ plane perpendicular to the X direction, the terminal connection portion 22 has a substantially rectangular shape with the Y direction as the longitudinal direction and the Z direction as the thickness direction, and extends in the X direction. The end portion of the terminal connection portion 22 in the X direction is semicircular, and a through hole is provided in the center of the end portion of the terminal connection portion 22. However, the shape of the terminal connection portion 22 is not particularly limited, and may be another shape such as a rectangular column shape.
[0021] The connecting portion 23 connects the conductor connecting portion 21 and the terminal connecting portion 22. Specifically, the connecting portion 23 is provided between the conductor connecting portion 21 and the terminal connecting portion 22. In the present embodiment, the terminal 20 is configured such that the conductor connecting portion 21, the terminal connecting portion 22, and the connecting portion 23 are continuously and integrally formed from a single material. However, the terminal 20 may be configured by combining the conductor connecting portion 21, the terminal connecting portion 22, and the connecting portion 23 as separate, different components.
[0022] The terminal 20 is formed of a conductive material. The material forming the terminal 20 may include at least one metal selected from the group consisting of copper, aluminum, iron, and magnesium. The surface of the terminal 20 may be plated or may not be plated.
[0023] Although an example of the terminal 20 has been described, the specific shape of the terminal 20 is not particularly limited, and terminals 20 of any shape can be used.
[0024] The housing 30 includes a first case 40 and a second case 50. In this embodiment, the first case 40 is the upper case, and the second case 50 is the lower case. However, the second case 50 may be the upper case and the first case 40 may be the lower case. As shown in FIG. 9, the first case 40 has an edge 40a, and the edge 40a of the first case 40 is provided with an adhesive 60 in which the sealant 70 has hardened (see FIGS. 2 to 5). As shown in FIG. 11, the second case 50 has an edge 50a, and the edge 50a of the second case 50 is provided with an adhesive 60 in which the sealant 70 has hardened (see FIGS. 2 to 5). An adhesive is provided between the entire periphery of the edge 40a of the first case 40 and the entire periphery of the edge 50a of the second case 50. As shown in FIG. 5, the first portion 14a of the conductor coating portion 14 and the terminal connection portion 22 are exposed from the housing 30. The first case 40 and the second case 50 may be connected by fitting, and the housing 30 may include a locking structure that engages the first case 40 and the second case 50 to prevent the first case 40 and the second case 50 from coming apart.
[0025] 2, the housing 30 includes an electric wire holding portion 31, a terminal holding portion 32, and a flange portion 33. The electric wire holding portion 31 is provided at one end of the housing 30 in the X direction, and the terminal holding portion 32 is provided at the other end of the housing 30 in the X direction. The flange portion 33 is provided between the electric wire holding portion 31 and the terminal holding portion 32 in the X direction.
[0026] The electric wire holding portion 31 includes a first electric wire holding portion 41 of the first case 40 and a second electric wire holding portion 51 of the second case 50. In the electric wire holding portion 31, the first electric wire holding portion 41 and the second electric wire holding portion 51 are connected via an adhesive 60, and the electric wire 10 is sandwiched. Specifically, the second portion 14b of the conductor covering portion 14 provided on the conductor exposed portion 13 side from the first portion 14a is sandwiched between a part of the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 and a part of the edge portion 50a of the second case 50 via the adhesive 60. The entire periphery of the second portion 14b of the electric wire 10 is surrounded by the adhesive 60, thereby suppressing the intrusion of water from between the housing 30 and the electric wire 10. The electric wire holding portion 31 has a rectangular tube shape and covers the periphery of the insulating covering 12 of the electric wire 10.
[0027] The terminal holding portion 32 includes a first terminal holding portion 42 of the first case 40 and a second terminal holding portion 52 of the second case 50. In the terminal holding portion 32, the first terminal holding portion 42 and the second terminal holding portion 52 are connected via an adhesive 60, and the terminal 20 is sandwiched. Specifically, the connecting portion 23 is sandwiched between a part of the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 and a part of the edge portion 50a of the second case 50 via the adhesive 60. The entire periphery of the connecting portion 23 is surrounded by the adhesive 60, thereby suppressing water from entering between the housing 30 and the connecting portion 23.
[0028] The flange portion 33 includes a first flange portion 43 of the first case 40 and a second flange portion 53 of the second case 50. The flange portion 33 is formed by the first flange portion 43 and the second flange portion 53. The flange portion 33 extends wider in the Y direction and the Z direction than the terminal holding portion 32.
[0029] When viewed from the XY plane, the first case 40 has a recess 44 (recess 34) surrounded by the adhesive 60 provided on the edge 40a. When viewed from the XY plane, the second case 50 has a recess 54 (recess 34) surrounded by the adhesive 60 provided on the edge 50a. When viewed from the XY plane, the edge 40a is provided so as to surround the recess 44, and the edge 50a is provided so as to surround the recess 54. The edge 40a and the edge 50a are provided so as to face each other in the Z direction. In the housing 30, the first case 40 and the second case 50 are connected via the adhesive 60 with the recess 44 of the first case 40 and the recess 54 of the second case 50 facing each other, so that a continuous space S is formed where the recess 44 and the recess 54 are joined together.
[0030] The conductor connection portion 21 is sealed in the space S formed by the recess 34 and entirely surrounded by the first case 40, the second case 50, and the adhesive 60. The adhesive 60 prevents water from entering between the first case 40 and the second case 50. This configuration prevents liquid such as water from entering the space S from the outside of the housing 30. Therefore, the adhesion of liquid to the conductor connection portion 21 can be prevented, and therefore water can be prevented from entering the electric wire 10.
[0031] In the present embodiment, an example is described in which the recess 34 includes the recess 44 and the recess 54. However, the present embodiment is not limited to such an example, and the recess 34 may be provided in only one of the first case 40 or the second case 50. In other words, it is sufficient that the recess 34 is provided in at least one of the first case 40 and the second case 50.
[0032] The adhesive 60 adheres to the first case 40 and the second case 50. The adhesive 60 directly adheres to the edge 40a of the first case 40, the edge 50a of the second case 50, the entire circumferential direction of the insulating coating 12, and the entire circumferential direction of the terminal 20. The adhesive 60 is integrally and continuously configured.
[0033] The adhesive 60 has self-adhesiveness. Here, self-adhesiveness means that the molecular chains diffuse into each other, causing the adhesive 60 to adhere to each other and become one body. The adhesive 60 may be a pressure-sensitive adhesive. Here, the pressure-sensitive adhesive means an adhesive that has adhesiveness at room temperature (23°C).
[0034] The glass transition temperature of the adhesive 60 may be equal to or lower than 0° C. By having the glass transition temperature of the adhesive 60 be equal to or lower than 0° C., the adhesive 60 can have high adhesion.
[0035] The adhesive 60 may be at least one type of adhesive selected from the group consisting of a silicone adhesive, an acrylic adhesive, a rubber adhesive, and a urethane adhesive. The adhesive 60 may be a UV-curable resin or a thermosetting resin. However, from the viewpoint of workability, it is preferable that the adhesive 60 be a UV-curable resin.
[0036] The acrylic adhesive is an adhesive containing a (meth)acrylic polymer. The acrylic adhesive contains a polymer of at least one of acrylate and methacrylate monomers, and has (meth)acrylate as a constituent unit. The (meth)acrylate is a concept including acrylate and methacrylate. The (meth)acrylate used in the acrylic adhesive may contain at least one selected from the group consisting of ethyl (meth)acrylate, propyl (meth)acrylate, butyl (meth)acrylate, hexyl (meth)acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl (meth)acrylate, octyl (meth)acrylate, isooctyl (meth)acrylate, nonyl (meth)acrylate, isononyl (meth)acrylate, and decyl (meth)acrylate.
[0037] The rubber adhesive may include at least one rubber selected from the group consisting of butyl rubber, ethylene-propylene rubber (EPM), ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM) and natural rubber.
[0038] The silicone adhesive contains silicone rubber. The silicone rubber has a main chain formed of siloxane bonds. The silicone rubber may have a side chain substituted with at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of a methyl group, a phenyl group, and a vinyl group. The silicone adhesive may contain, for example, an organopolysiloxane having dimethylsiloxane as a main constituent unit.
[0039] The urethane adhesive contains polyurethane, which is a polymer having a urethane bond and can be obtained by condensing a compound having an isocyanate group and a hydroxyl group.
[0040] As described above, the connector-attached electric wire 1 includes the conductor 11 and the insulating coating 12 that covers the outer periphery of the conductor 11, and includes the electric wire 10 provided with the conductor exposed portion 13 where the conductor 11 is exposed from the insulating coating 12, and the conductor coated portion 14 where the conductor 11 is coated with the insulating coating 12. The connector-attached electric wire 1 includes the terminal 20 including the conductor connecting portion 21 connected to the conductor exposed portion 13, the terminal connecting portion 22 configured to connect to a counterpart terminal, and the connecting portion 23 that connects the conductor connecting portion 21 and the terminal connecting portion 22. The connector-attached electric wire 1 includes the housing 30 including the first case 40 and the second case 50, and the adhesive 60 is provided between the entire circumference of the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 and the entire circumference of the edge portion 50a of the second case 50. The first portion 14a of the conductor coating portion 14 and the terminal connecting portion 22 are exposed from the housing 30. The second portion 14b of the conductor coating portion 14 provided on the conductor exposed portion 13 side from the first portion 14a is sandwiched between a part of the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 and a part of the edge portion 50a of the second case 50 via the adhesive 60, and the entire periphery of the second portion 14b of the electric wire 10 is surrounded by the adhesive 60, thereby suppressing the intrusion of water from between the housing 30 and the electric wire 10. The connecting portion 23 is sandwiched between a part of the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 and a part of the edge portion 50a of the second case 50 via the adhesive 60, and the entire periphery of the connecting portion 23 is surrounded by the adhesive 60, thereby suppressing the intrusion of water from between the housing 30 and the connecting portion 23. At least one of the first case 40 and the second case 50 is provided with a recess 34. The conductor connection portion 21 is sealed within the space S formed by the recess 34 and completely surrounded by the first case 40, the second case 50, and the adhesive 60, and the adhesive 60 prevents water from entering between the first case 40 and the second case 50.
[0041] In the electric wire with connector 1 according to this embodiment, the entire periphery of the second portion 14b of the electric wire 10, the entire periphery of the coupling portion 23, and the entire periphery of the recess 34 are surrounded by the adhesive 60. The conductor connection portion 21 is sealed in the space S in which the recess 34 is surrounded by the first case 40, the second case 50, and the adhesive 60. Therefore, it is possible to prevent water from entering the terminal portion of the electric wire 10.
[0042] In addition, in the electric wire with connector 1 according to the present embodiment, the entire periphery of the second part 14b of the electric wire 10, the entire periphery of the connecting part 23, and the entire periphery of the recess 34 are surrounded by the adhesive 60, so that the electric wire with connector 1 can be made smaller and lighter. For example, when a rubber part such as a packing is used to mechanically seal between the terminal 20 and the housing 30, it is necessary to use a rubber part with a diameter that matches the width of the connecting part 23. Also, for example, when a rubber part such as a rubber plug is used to mechanically seal between the electric wire 10 and the housing 30, it is necessary to provide a rear holder on the housing 30. Therefore, when mechanically sealing using these rubber parts, the size of the electric wire with connector 1 may become large. However, in the electric wire with connector 1 according to the present embodiment, the adhesive 60 is used, and for example, it is not necessary to provide a rear holder on the housing 30, so that the electric wire with connector 1 can be made smaller and lighter. For example, when the electric wire with connector 1 is installed in a moving object such as an automobile, the weight of the moving object can be reduced, thereby improving the energy efficiency required for movement and contributing to reducing carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.
[0043] Furthermore, compared to the use of conventional heat shrink tubes with adhesive applied to the inner circumferential surface, it may be possible to reduce the amount of adhesive used, which can contribute to improving environmental issues.
[0044] [Method of manufacturing electric wire with connector] Next, a description will be given of a method for manufacturing the connector-attached electric wire 1 according to this embodiment. The method for manufacturing the connector-attached electric wire 1 according to this embodiment includes a conductor exposing step, a connecting step, an adhesive forming step, and a sealing step.
[0045] FIG. 6 is a schematic side view showing an example of a state in which the insulating coating 12 of the electric wire 10 is stripped in the conductor exposing step. FIG. 7 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing an example of a state in which the terminal 20 is connected to the conductor 11 of the electric wire 10 in the connecting step. FIG. 8 is a side view showing an example of a state in which the sealant 70 is applied to the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 in the adhesive forming step. FIG. 9 is a plan view showing an example of a state in which the sealant 70 is applied to the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 in the adhesive forming step. FIG. 10 is a side view showing an example of a state in which the sealant 70 is applied to the edge portion 50a of the second case 50. FIG. 11 is a plan view showing an example of a state in which the sealant 70 is applied to the edge portion 50a of the second case 50.
[0046] (Conductor exposure process) In the conductor exposing step, first, an electric wire 10 is prepared. The electric wire 10 includes a conductor 11 and an insulating coating 12 that covers the outer periphery of the conductor 11. Next, a part of the insulating coating 12 of the electric wire 10 is stripped off. As a result, as shown in FIG. 6 , the electric wire 10 is provided with a conductor exposed portion 13 where the conductor 11 is exposed from the insulating coating 12, and a conductor coated portion 14 where the conductor 11 is coated with the insulating coating 12.
[0047] (Connection process) In the connecting step, an electric wire 10 having a conductor exposed portion 13 and a conductor coated portion 14 is prepared. A terminal 20 is also prepared, including a conductor connecting portion 21 configured to connect with the conductor exposed portion 13, a terminal connecting portion 22 configured to connect with a counterpart terminal, and a connecting portion 23 that connects the conductor connecting portion 21 and the terminal connecting portion 22. Next, as shown in Fig. 7, the conductor exposed portion 13 of the electric wire 10 is connected to the conductor connecting portion 21 of the terminal 20. This mechanically and electrically connects the conductor 11 of the electric wire 10 and the terminal 20.
[0048] (Adhesive formation process) The adhesive forming step includes a first adhesive forming step and a second adhesive forming step. In the first adhesive forming step, as shown in Figs. 8 and 9, a sealant 70 is applied and cured around the entire periphery of the edge 40a of the first case 40. Then, a self-adhesive adhesive 60 is formed around the entire periphery of the edge 40a of the first case 40. The recess 44 is surrounded on its entire periphery by the adhesive 60 provided on the edge 40a of the first case 40. In the second adhesive forming step, as shown in Figs. 10 and 11, a sealant 70 is applied and cured around the entire periphery of the edge 50a of the second case 50. Then, a self-adhesive adhesive 60 is formed around the entire periphery of the edge 50a of the second case 50. The recess 54 is surrounded on its entire periphery by the adhesive 60 provided on the edge 50a of the second case 50.
[0049] In this embodiment, the adhesive 60 can be formed by applying and curing the sealant 70, so that the workability is high compared to the case where a rubber gasket is used for molding, and the connector-attached electric wire 1 can be easily manufactured even for small parts with a small installation area. At least one of the first case 40 and the second case 50 may be provided with a positioning structure for the terminal 20. This structure can facilitate the assembly of the terminal 20. The sealant 70 is not particularly limited as long as it can form the adhesive 60 by applying and curing. The sealant 70 applied to the first case 40 and the sealant 70 applied to the second case 50 may be the same or different. An example of the sealant 70 is Born2Bond (registered trademark) CIPG AU588 manufactured by Bostik-Nitta Corporation.
[0050] The method for applying the sealant 70 to the first case 40 or the second case 50 is not particularly limited, and the sealant 70 can be applied using an application device 80 such as a dispenser. The sealant 70 may be applied manually to the first case 40 or the second case 50, or the sealant 70 may be applied to a predetermined position by an automatic application device. The sealant 70 can also be applied in a line shape, for example. The application width of the sealant 70 may be, for example, 2 mm or more and 4 mm or less.
[0051] The method for curing the sealant 70 is not particularly limited, and for example, the applied sealant 70 may be cured by irradiating it with UV. Examples of light sources capable of irradiating UV include a xenon lamp, a high-pressure mercury lamp, a metal halide lamp, and an LED lamp. Conditions such as the amount of UV irradiation are not particularly limited, and can be set appropriately depending on the specifications of the sealant 70.
[0052] The sealing agent 70 may have thixotropy. Here, thixotropy refers to a property of having flow characteristics that depend on time, and in a constant shear rate state, the apparent viscosity decreases with time and gradually returns to its original state when the shear stress is removed.
[0053] The TI (thixotropy index) value of the sealing agent 70 may be 2 or more. When the TI value of the sealing agent 70 is 2 or more, it is possible to suppress deformation of the applied sealing agent 70 due to dripping. The TI value of the sealing agent 70 may be 3 or more, 4 or more, 5 or more, or 6 or more. The upper limit of the TI value is not particularly limited, but may be, for example, 20 or less. In this specification, the TI value means the ratio of the viscosity of the sealing agent 70 at 0.5 rpm to the viscosity at 5 rpm at 25°C. The TI value of the sealing agent 70 can be obtained based on JIS K6833-1:2008. The viscosity of the sealing agent 70 can be measured by a rotational viscometer based on JIS K7117-2.
[0054] The viscosity of the sealing agent 70 at 0.5 rpm at 25° C. may be, for example, 400,000 Pa·s or more and 1,100,000 Pa·s or less. The viscosity of the sealing agent 70 at 0.5 rpm at 25° C. may be 500,000 Pa·s or more, or 800,000 Pa·s or more. Furthermore, the viscosity of the sealing agent 70 at 0.5 rpm at 25° C. may be 1,000,000 Pa·s or less, or 900,000 Pa·s or less.
[0055] The viscosity of the sealing agent 70 at 5 rpm at 25° C. may be, for example, 50,000 Pa·s or more and 200,000 Pa·s or less. The viscosity of the sealing agent 70 at 5 rpm at 25° C. may be 80,000 Pa·s or more, or 100,000 Pa·s or more. Furthermore, the viscosity of the sealing agent 70 at 5 rpm at 25° C. may be 190,000 Pa·s or less, or 180,000 Pa·s or less.
[0056] (Sealing process) In the sealing process, the conductor connection portion 21 is sealed in the space S within the housing 30. Specifically, the entire periphery of the conductor coating portion 14 and the entire periphery of the connecting portion 23 are sandwiched between the self-adhesive adhesive 60 provided around the entire periphery of the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 and the adhesive 60 provided around the entire periphery of the edge portion 50a of the second case 50. In addition, the adhesive 60 provided around the entire periphery of the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 and the adhesive 60 provided around the entire periphery of the edge portion 50a of the second case 50 suppresses water from entering between the housing 30 including the first case 40 and the second case 50 and the electric wire 10, between the housing 30 and the connecting portion 23, and between the first case 40 and the second case 50.
[0057] As a result, the housing 30 is formed, which includes the first case 40 and the second case 50, and in which an adhesive is provided between the entire circumference of the edge 40a of the first case 40 and the entire circumference of the edge 50a of the second case 50. The second portion 14b of the conductor coating portion 14, which is provided closer to the conductor exposed portion 13 side than the first portion 14a, is sandwiched between a part of the edge 40a of the first case 40 and a part of the edge 50a of the second case 50 via the adhesive 60, and the entire circumference of the second portion 14b of the electric wire 10 is surrounded by the adhesive 60, thereby suppressing the intrusion of water from between the housing 30 and the electric wire 10. The connecting portion 23 is sandwiched between a part of the edge 40a of the first case 40 and a part of the edge 50a of the second case 50 via the adhesive 60, and the entire circumference of the connecting portion 23 is surrounded by the adhesive 60, thereby suppressing the intrusion of water from between the housing 30 and the connecting portion 23. Furthermore, the first portion 14 a of the conductor coating portion 14 and the terminal connection portion 22 are exposed from the housing 30 .
[0058] The conductor connection portion 21 is then sealed in the space S formed by the recess 34 and entirely surrounded by the first case 40, the second case 50, and the adhesive 60. The recess 34 is provided in at least one of the first case 40 and the second case 50. This allows the adhesive 60 to prevent water from entering between the first case 40 and the second case 50. Through the above steps, the electric wire with connector 1 can be manufactured.
[0059] In the second adhesive forming step, as shown in FIG. 10 and FIG. 11, the sealant 70 is applied and cured around the entire periphery of the edge portion 50a of the second case 50. However, the sealant 70 may be applied and cured at least on the edge portion of the second case 50 to which the conductor covering portion 14 is attached and at least on the edge portion of the second case 50 to which the connecting portion 23 is attached. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 12, the sealant 70 may be applied and cured on the side of the edge portion of the second case 50 to which the conductor covering portion 14 is attached. Also, as shown in FIG. 12, the sealant 70 may be applied and cured on the side of the edge portion of the second case 50 to which the connecting portion 23 is attached. Also, as shown in FIG. 13, the sealant 70 may be applied and cured only around the edge portion of the second case 50 to which the conductor covering portion 14 is attached. Also, as shown in FIG. 13, the sealant 70 may be applied and cured only around the edge portion of the second case 50 to which the connecting portion 23 is attached. Furthermore, the positions where the sealant 70 is applied and cured may be a combination of these. Even in these embodiments, the electric wire with connector 1 as described above can be manufactured.
[0060] As described above, the manufacturing method of the electric wire with connector 1 according to the present embodiment includes a step of connecting the conductor exposed portion 13 of the electric wire 10 to the conductor connecting portion 21 of the terminal 20. The electric wire 10 includes the conductor 11 and the insulating coating 12 that covers the outer periphery of the conductor 11, and is provided with the conductor exposed portion 13 where the conductor 11 is exposed from the insulating coating 12, and the conductor coated portion 14 where the conductor 11 is coated with the insulating coating 12. The terminal 20 includes a conductor connecting portion 21 configured to connect the conductor exposed portion 13, a terminal connecting portion 22 configured to connect with a counterpart terminal, and a coupling portion 23 that couples the conductor connecting portion 21 and the terminal connecting portion 22. The manufacturing method of the electric wire with connector 1 includes a step of sealing the conductor connecting portion 21 in the space S. In the sealing process, the entire periphery of the conductor covering portion 14 and the entire periphery of the connecting portion 23 are sandwiched between the adhesive 60 provided on the entire periphery of the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 and having self-adhesiveness, the adhesive 60 provided on at least the edge portion of the second case 50 to which the conductor covering portion 14 is attached, and the adhesive 60 provided on at least the edge portion 50a of the second case 50 to which the connecting portion 23 is attached. In addition, in the sealing process, the adhesive 60 provided on the edge portion 40a of the first case 40 and the adhesive 60 provided on the edge portion 50a of the second case 50 suppress water from entering between the housing 30 including the first case 40 and the second case 50 and the electric wire 10, between the housing 30 and the connecting portion 23, and between the first case 40 and the second case 50. The space S is formed by a recess 34 provided in at least one of the first case 40 and the second case 50, and is entirely surrounded by the first case 40, the second case 50, and the adhesive 60. According to the manufacturing method of the electric wire with connector 1 according to this embodiment, the above-mentioned electric wire with connector 1 can be manufactured.
[0061] Furthermore, in the manufacturing method of the electric wire with connector 1 according to this embodiment, the sealant 70 is used. This eliminates the need for an assembly process using rubber parts, which can contribute to shortening the lead time.
[0062] In addition, in the manufacturing method of the connector-equipped electric wire 1 in this embodiment, since the sealing agent 70 is used, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of leakage paths at the adhesive portion between the first case 40 and the second case 50, around the electric wire 10, and around the terminal 20.
[0063] Although the present embodiment has been described above, the present embodiment is not limited to this, and various modifications are possible within the scope of the gist of the present embodiment. [Explanation of symbols]
