Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a battery pack having a circuit board connected to a battery, and more particularly to a battery pack that is optimal for powering cordless devices. [Background technology]

[0002] Battery packs have been developed in which a circuit board mounting a control circuit for controlling the charging and discharging of batteries is fixed to a battery holder that holds multiple batteries in a fixed position. For battery packs with this structure, a connecting structure has been developed that allows the circuit board to be inserted into the battery holder and placed in a fixed position (Patent Document 1).

[0003] In the battery pack described above, the battery holder is provided with a guide groove into which the circuit board is inserted. Furthermore, the battery holder is provided with an elastic locking piece that is molded integrally with the battery holder and that holds the circuit board inserted into the guide rib so that it does not fall out. The elastic locking piece is arranged to elastically protrude into the guide groove into which the circuit board is inserted, and the circuit board is provided with a locking recess that guides the elastic locking piece. In a battery pack with this structure, the circuit board is inserted into the guide groove of the battery holder, and the elastic locking piece is made to elastically protrude into the locking recess of the sub-circuit board, and the circuit board is arranged in the guide groove so that it does not fall out. In this battery pack, the circuit board can be inserted into the guide groove of the battery holder and placed in a fixed position in the battery holder so that it does not fall out. [0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2010-146774 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0005] In the battery pack described above, the circuit board can be easily connected to the battery holder, simplifying the assembly process. However, because this battery pack positions the circuit board in a fixed position by pushing the elastic locking pieces, which elastically protrude into the guide grooves, into the locking recesses of the circuit board, it is difficult to achieve excellent vibration resistance, and the circuit board and the circuit board connection parts of the battery holder can be damaged by vibration or impact.

[0006] The present invention was developed with the further objective of eliminating the above-mentioned drawbacks, and one of the objects of the present invention is to provide a battery pack which can be mass-produced simply, easily, and efficiently while achieving excellent vibration resistance characteristics. [Means for solving the problem]

[0007] The battery pack comprises a battery holder in which multiple batteries are arranged in fixed positions, and a circuit board which is electrically connected to the batteries and arranged in a fixed position in the battery holder. The circuit board is plate-shaped with parallel sliding side edges on both sides, and a first locking portion is provided on both sliding side edges. The battery holder has an insertion guide which moves the circuit board along the sliding side edges, and a pair of elongated elastic extension portions which are arranged on either side of the circuit board inserted into the insertion guide. The elastic extension portions have a second locking portion which is elastic and locks the circuit board in a fixed position, one of the first locking portion and the second locking portion is a locking recess and the other is a locking protrusion. The circuit board is inserted into the insertion guide and the first locking portion is engaged with the second locking portion to hold the circuit board in a fixed position in the battery holder. The battery holder has two rows of parallel slits with a thin elastic extension between the slits. Effect of the Invention

[0008] The above battery packs have the advantage of being easily and efficiently mass-produced while achieving excellent vibration resistance. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0010] The present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. In the following description, terms indicating specific directions or positions (e.g., "upper", "lower", and other terms including these terms) are used as necessary, but the use of these terms is for the purpose of facilitating understanding of the invention with reference to the drawings, and the meanings of these terms do not limit the technical scope of the present invention. In addition, parts with the same reference numerals appearing in multiple drawings indicate the same or equivalent parts or members. Furthermore, the embodiments shown below are specific examples of the technical ideas of the present invention, and do not limit the present invention to the following. Furthermore, unless otherwise specified, the dimensions, materials, shapes, relative positions, etc. of the components described below are intended to be illustrative and not to limit the scope of the present invention. Furthermore, the contents described in one embodiment or example can be applied to other embodiments or examples. Furthermore, the sizes and positional relationships of the components shown in the drawings may be exaggerated to clarify the explanation.

[0011] A battery pack according to a first embodiment of the present invention includes a battery holder in which a plurality of batteries are arranged at fixed positions, and a circuit board connected to the batteries via lead plates and arranged at a fixed position in the battery holder. The circuit board is plate-shaped with parallel sliding side edges on both sides, and a first locking portion is provided on both sliding side edges. The battery holder includes an insertion guide that moves the circuit board along the sliding side edges, and a pair of elongated elastic extensions that are arranged on both sides of the circuit board guided by the insertion guide. The elastic extensions include a second locking portion that is locked to the first locking portion and locks the circuit board in the fixed position. One of the first locking portion and the second locking portion is a locking recess and the other is a locking protrusion, and the circuit board is inserted into the insertion guide, and the second locking portion is locked to the first locking portion to hold the circuit board in the fixed position in the battery holder.

[0012] The above battery pack has the advantage that the circuit board can be easily set in a fixed position for efficient mass production, and furthermore, it has the advantage of achieving excellent vibration resistance, because the above battery pack has first locking parts on the sliding side edges on both sides of the circuit board, the battery holder has an insertion guide for inserting the circuit board, and the insertion guide has an integral elastic extension part with a second locking part, so that when the circuit board is inserted into the battery holder, both sides of the circuit board are elastically clamped and held by the pair of elastic extension parts.

[0013] A battery pack according to a second embodiment of the present invention can have an elastic extension that is elongated in the insertion direction of the circuit board, both ends of which are connected to the battery holder, and a first locking portion is provided in the middle. When the circuit board is inserted into this battery pack, the elastic extension can be elastically deformed into a bow shape to increase the restoring force, allowing the circuit board to be placed in a fixed position for a long period of time. Furthermore, the elastic extension holds both sides of the circuit board, achieving extremely excellent vibration resistance.

[0014] The battery pack according to the third embodiment of the present invention can be structured such that two rows of slits are provided in parallel in the battery holder, and a long and thin elastic extension is provided between the slits, in other words, the elastic extension has slits on both sides. This battery pack has the advantage that the battery holders provided with the elastic extension can be mass-produced efficiently using a simple mold, reducing manufacturing costs. In addition, the elastic extension is integrally molded with the battery holder, achieving excellent durability. Another advantage is that the slits expose the surface of the cylindrical battery placed inside, allowing for efficient heat dissipation.

[0015] In a battery pack according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention, the first locking portion is a locking recess and the second locking portion is a locking protrusion, and the locking protrusion can be provided with an inclined surface that approaches the slide side edge in the insertion direction of the circuit board. This battery pack has the feature that the circuit board can be smoothly inserted into a fixed position in the battery holder and reliably positioned in the fixed position.

[0016] In a battery pack according to a fifth embodiment of the present invention, the surfaces where the locking recess and the locking protrusion come into contact with each other in the direction in which the circuit board is pulled out can be vertical surfaces perpendicular to the direction in which the circuit board is pulled out. This battery pack can hold the circuit board inserted in a fixed position in the battery holder so that it does not come out of the fixed position due to the abutting vertical surfaces.

[0017] A battery pack according to a sixth embodiment of the present invention uses cylindrical batteries, and the battery holder is provided with a corrugated surface plate on which multiple cylindrical batteries are arranged in parallel on the same plane, with a circuit board being arranged on the outer surface of the corrugated surface plate. This battery pack has the advantage that multiple cylindrical batteries can be arranged on the same plane and a large circuit board can be arranged in the battery holder. A large circuit board has the advantage that it can efficiently dissipate heat generated by the mounted components and can operate stably for a long period of time by reducing the mounting density.

[0018] In the battery pack according to the seventh embodiment of the present invention, the elastic extension can be integrally connected to the corrugated surface plate of the battery holder. This battery pack can achieve the feature that the elastic extension and the battery holder are reliably and stably connected to each other, and the vibration resistance can be further improved.

[0019] In a battery pack according to an eighth embodiment of the present invention, the corrugated surface plate of the first battery holder is provided with multiple rows of curved ridges protruding from the outer surface, and a pair of elastic extensions arranged on both sides of the circuit board are arranged along different curved ridges, for example along the crests of adjacent curved ridges, so that the circuit board covers the valleys of the curved ridges. This battery pack has the advantage that a large space can be provided between the circuit board and the battery holder by the valleys, so that even a circuit board with a protrusion on the back surface can be arranged in the battery holder.

[0020] A battery pack according to a ninth embodiment of the present invention has an elastic extension arranged along the peaks of the curved ridges on the corrugated surface plate of the first battery holder, with slits on both sides of the elastic extension. This battery pack has the advantage that the surfaces of the cylindrical batteries are exposed through the slits on the peaks of the curved ridges, allowing for efficient heat dissipation.

[0021] The battery pack according to the tenth embodiment of the present invention can be used as a power source to be installed in an electric device equipped with a motor. Furthermore, the battery pack according to the eleventh embodiment of the present invention can be used as a power source to be installed in a vacuum cleaner. Furthermore, the battery pack according to the twelfth embodiment of the present invention can be used as a power source to be installed in a self-propelled vacuum cleaner. These battery packs have the advantage that they can be used for a long period of time by preventing the adverse effects caused by the vibration of a rotating motor.

[0022] (Embodiment 1) Fig. 1 shows a battery pack used as a power source for an electric device equipped with a motor, such as a vacuum cleaner, particularly a vacuum cleaner that moves indoors on its own. Electrical devices equipped with a motor, such as vacuum cleaners, are constantly subjected to vibrations from the rotating motor, so vibration resistance is important. However, electric devices that use a battery pack as a power source are cordless, not stationary, and therefore require the battery pack to have vibration resistance to withstand impacts when dropped. Therefore, the present invention does not limit the use of the battery pack to electric devices equipped with a motor, such as vacuum cleaners, but can be used for all other electric devices that use a battery as a power source.

[0023] The battery pack 100 shown in Figures 1 to 9 comprises a battery holder 2 that holds multiple batteries 1 in fixed positions, and a circuit board 3 connected to the battery holder 2. The battery pack 100 in Figures 1 to 4 forms a battery block 10 by connecting the circuit board 3 to the battery holder 2, which in turn connects multiple batteries 1. The battery block 10 is stored in an exterior case 4. In the battery pack 100 shown in the figures, part of the battery holder 2 also serves as the exterior case 4.

[0024] (Battery block 10) The battery pack 100 shown in the figure has two battery blocks 10 connected in series. The battery holder 2 shown in the figure has four cylindrical batteries 1A arranged in parallel on the same plane. The two battery blocks 10 are connected at their end faces to the battery holder 2 with the cylindrical batteries 1A arranged in a straight line. The two connected battery blocks 10 have a circuit board 3 connected to the surface of the battery holder 2. The circuit board 3 is arranged on the surface of the two linearly connected battery holders 2 and is connected to both battery blocks 10 via lead plates 5. The battery pack 100 can increase the output voltage or the charge / discharge capacity by increasing the number of batteries 1 stored in the battery holder 2 and the number of connected battery blocks 10. Therefore, the number of batteries 1 stored in the battery holder 2 and the number of battery blocks 10 connected in series are adjusted taking into account the output voltage and charge / discharge capacity required for the cordless device to be set.

[0025] (Battery 1) The battery holder 2 in the figure has battery 1 housed as a cylindrical lithium ion battery 1A. A battery pack 100 in which battery 1 is a lithium ion battery can have a large output relative to its volume and weight. However, lithium polymer batteries and nickel-metal hydride batteries can also be used instead of lithium ion batteries. Therefore, the present invention does not limit the battery to lithium ion batteries. Any rechargeable battery can be used. Also, although the battery pack 100 in the figure has battery 1 as a cylindrical battery 1A, a prismatic battery can also be used.

[0026] (Battery holder 2) The battery holder 2 is made of insulating plastic and has a cylindrical storage section into which the cylindrical battery 1A is inserted and placed in a fixed position. The battery holder 2 in the figure is composed of a first battery holder 6 and a second battery holder 7 that are connected so that they can be separated onto both sides of the cylindrical battery 1A. The first battery holder 6 and the second battery holder 7 are molded separately from insulating plastic. The first battery holder 6 and the second battery holder 7 are connected with the cylindrical battery 1A placed on the inside, and the battery 1 is placed in a fixed position. As shown in Figure 2, the first battery holder 6 and the second battery holder 7 are connected to each other in a fixed position with their opposing contacting surfaces forming an interlocking structure. When the first battery holder 6 and the second battery holder 7 are connected, the battery holder 2 holds the cylindrical battery 1A in a fixed position.

[0027] In the battery pack 100 shown in Figures 2 to 8, a circuit board 3 is connected to the surface of a first battery holder 6. The first battery holder 6 has a corrugated surface plate 23 on which multiple cylindrical batteries 1A are arranged in parallel on the same plane, and the circuit board 3 is arranged on the outer surface of this corrugated surface plate 23. The inner surfaces of the first battery holder 6 and second battery holder 7 are corrugated to fit the surfaces of the cylindrical batteries 1A, and the cylindrical batteries 1A are arranged in parallel on the same plane. In the battery pack 100 of Figures 2 and 3, the second battery holder 7 is also used as an exterior case 4. In this battery pack 100, the exterior case 4 is composed of a cover case 8 and a second battery holder 7. The cover case 8 is connected to the second battery holder 7, and the first battery holder 6 is arranged inside. The second battery holder 7 has retention ribs 24 molded integrally onto its inner surface that hold the cylindrical batteries 1A in place, and when the first battery holder 6 is connected, it holds the cylindrical batteries 1A in place.

[0028] (Lead plate 5) The battery 1 is placed in a fixed position between the first battery holder 6 and the second battery holder 7, and has lead plates 5 connected to the electrodes at both ends by spot welding or other methods. The lead plates 5 connect the batteries 1 in parallel or series. Furthermore, one end of the lead plate 5 that connects to the circuit board 3 is connected to the electrode of the battery 1 that is the output side of the battery block 10. This lead plate 5 is pulled out from the battery holder 2 to the outside and connected to the surface of the circuit board 3 by spot welding or other methods, thereby connecting the battery block 10 to the circuit board 3. When the circuit board 3 is inserted, the lead plate 5 pulled out from the battery block 10 is bent outward as shown in Figures 7 and 8. The circuit board 3 is placed in a fixed position in the first battery holder 6, and the tip of this lead plate 5 is pressed against the circuit board 3 and connected by spot welding or other methods.

[0029] (Circuit board 3) The battery pack 100 has a circuit board 3 fixed to the surfaces of two battery blocks 10 that are connected in series to each other. In this battery pack 100, the circuit board 3 is connected to the surface of a first battery holder 6. The battery blocks 10 have multiple batteries 1 (four batteries 1 in FIG. 2) arranged on the same plane, but the circuit board 3 is arranged on the surface of the battery blocks 10 in a parallel orientation to the plane on which the batteries 1 are arranged. The circuit board 3 has an elongated shape that extends in the length direction of the two battery blocks 10, and is arranged in a bridging manner across the surfaces of the first battery holders 6 of the two battery blocks 10, connecting the two battery blocks 10.

[0030] 5 to 8 is a rectangular plate having parallel sliding edges 30 on both sides, and first locking portions 31 are provided on both sliding edges 30. The first locking portions 31 are locked to second locking portions 22 provided on the battery holder 2, positioning the circuit board 3 in a fixed position in the battery holder 2. The circuit board 3 shown in the figures has one first locking portion 31 located approximately in the center of the sliding edge 30, but multiple first locking portions can also be provided on the sliding edge.

[0031] (Insertion Guide 20) The first battery holder 6 provided with the second locking portion 22 is provided with an insertion guide 20 that specifies the insertion direction of the circuit board 3 in order to place the circuit board 3 in a fixed position. The battery pack 100 in Figs. 4 to 8 is provided with two rows of insertion guides 20 along the slide side edge 30 of the circuit board 3 to be inserted so that the circuit board 3 is inserted in the longitudinal direction of two battery blocks 10 connected in series. The circuit board 3 is guided inside the two rows of insertion guides 20 and inserted in the longitudinal direction of the battery block 10. The insertion guides 20 are vertical walls that extend along both sides of the circuit board 3 to be inserted, and are positioned opposite the slide side edge 30 of the circuit board 3. Furthermore, the insertion guides 20 are locally provided with anti-slip pieces 25 on the upper end edge to prevent the inserted circuit board 3 from falling out. The insertion guide 20 in Fig. 2 has a small gap (e.g., 0.5 mm to 2 mm) between it and the slide side edge 30 of the circuit board 3, allowing the circuit board 3 to move smoothly in the insertion direction.

[0032] The first battery holder 6 in Fig. 2 and Figs. 5-8 has two rows of insertion guides 20 on the outer surface of the corrugated surface plate 23. The circuit board 3 is inserted between the two rows of insertion guides 20. The outer surface of the corrugated surface plate 23 of the first battery holder 6 is corrugated to fit the surfaces of the cylindrical batteries 1A, and has multiple rows (four rows in the figure) of curved ridges 26. The cross section of the curved ridges 26 is semicircular to fit the surfaces of the cylindrical batteries 1A, and the cylindrical batteries 1A are placed on the inner surface. The two rows of insertion guides 20 are configured by providing vertical walls along the crests of different curved ridges 26 out of the multiple rows of curved ridges 26, or along the crests of two adjacent rows of curved ridges 26 in the figure. The circuit board 3 inserted between the two rows of insertion guides 20 is guided by the surface of the corrugated surface plate 23, the inner surface of the vertical wall that is the insertion guide 20, and the underside of the retaining piece 25, and is inserted into the surface of the first battery holder 6. In the first battery holder 6, the cylindrical batteries 1A are placed inside the curved ridges 26 provided on the corrugated surface plate 23. In other words, the inner surface of the corrugated surface plate 23 is shaped to fit the surface of the cylindrical batteries 1A, and the curved ridges 26 are provided on the surface. Therefore, the cylindrical batteries 1A are placed inside the curved ridges 26.

[0033] (Elastic extension 21) The vertical wall of the first battery holder 6 that constitutes the insertion guide 20 is used in combination with the elastic extension 21 at its center. As shown in Figs. 7 to 9, the elastic extension 21 is provided with slits 27 on both sides to allow elastic deformation, and both ends are connected to the battery holder 2. This elastic extension 21 elastically deforms into an arch shape when the circuit board 3 is inserted. The vertical wall of the insertion guide 20 is provided on the first battery holder 6 with slits 27 on both sides to allow elastic deformation into an arch shape. The insertion guide 20 and the elastic extension 21 are formed as vertical walls that extend linearly, and are disposed in a position facing the slide side edge 30 of the circuit board 3. The elastic extension 21 is provided with a locking protrusion 22A as a second locking portion 22 that is guided by a locking recess 31A, which is a first locking portion 31 provided on the slide side edge 30, to prevent the circuit board 3 inserted into the insertion guide 20 from slipping out.

[0034] The first battery holder 6 in the figure has a circuit board 3 arranged on the surface of a corrugated surface plate 23 having multiple rows of curved ridges 26 on the outer surface. A pair of elastic extensions 21 that hold both sides of the circuit board 3 are arranged along the crests of different curved ridges 26 arranged in parallel with each other, that is, adjacent curved ridges 26 in the figure. The circuit board 3 arranged in this position is arranged in a position that covers the valleys 28 between the curved ridges 26, so that the valleys 28 on the back side are provided with a wide gap between them and the surface of the battery holder 2. Therefore, a circuit board 3 with a protrusion on the back side can also be arranged. The first battery holder 6 in the figure has a vertical wall provided on the crests of the adjacent curved ridges 26, and the insertion guide 20 and the elastic extensions 21 are arranged, so that the width of the circuit board 3 is the interval between the crests of the curved ridges 26. The battery holder 2 can change the curved ridges 26 that provide crests in the width direction of the circuit board 3 to arrange a wide circuit board 3 in a fixed position.

[0035] The elastic extensions 21 in Figs. 5 to 9 are connected at both ends to the battery holder 2, so that they are elastically deformed into an arch shape when the circuit board 3 is inserted, but when the locking protrusions 22A are guided into the locking recesses 31A of the circuit board 3, they are stably restored to their original linear shape. The length of the slit 27 determines the overall length of the elastic extensions 21, and the width of the slit 27 determines the amount of displacement of the elastic extensions 21. The elastic extensions 21 can be smoothly deformed and have high restoring properties by making the slit 27 longer. A long elastic extension 21 can increase the protrusion of the locking protrusions 22A, and can be positioned at a fixed position so that the circuit board 3 is not reliably and stably removed. For this reason, the overall length (L) of the elastic extensions 21, i.e., the length of the slit 27, is set to, for example, 1 cm or more, preferably 2 cm or more, and optimally 3 cm or more. The width (d) of the slit 27 is determined taking into account the protruding height (t) of the locking protrusion 22A provided on the elastic extension portion 21, i.e., from the amount of displacement of the elastic extension portion 21 when the circuit board 3 is inserted, and is set to be larger than the protruding height (t) of the locking protrusion 22A.

[0036] The locking protrusion 22A in FIG. 5 is in the shape of a right-angled triangle or trapezoid, and has an inclined surface 22a approaching the slide side edge 30 in the insertion direction of the circuit board 3. Furthermore, the locking recess 31A and the locking protrusion 22A shown in this figure have vertical surfaces 22b, 31b that are perpendicular to the removal direction, at which the surfaces abut against each other in the removal direction of the circuit board 3. This locking structure has the feature that the circuit board 3 can be smoothly inserted into a fixed position, and the circuit board 3 can be reliably prevented from coming out with the locking protrusion 22A guided by the locking recess 31A. The above locking structure can reliably prevent the movement of the circuit board 3 in the removal direction by the locking recess 31A and the locking protrusion 22A. In order to prevent the circuit board 3 inserted in the fixed position from being displaced in the insertion direction, the circuit board 3 in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6 has a brim-shaped stopper protrusion 32 protruding on both sides at the rear end of the slide side edge 30. The stopper protrusions 32 come into contact with the end faces of the battery holder 2 to prevent movement of the circuit board 3 in the insertion direction.

[0037] As shown in Figure 9, the first battery holder 6 has slits 27 on both sides of the vertical wall, elastic extensions 21 with locking protrusions 22A, and slit-like openings around the retaining pieces 25 of the insertion guide 20. This can be mass-produced efficiently with a pair of dies without the need for complex dies. This is because the pair of dies can be used to mold plastic, and the elastic extensions 21 and insertion guides 20 with the retaining pieces 25 can be molded as an integral structure with the battery holder 2. [Industrial Applicability]
