Description

[Technical Field]

[0001] The present disclosure relates to adhesive compositions and methods of forming the same. The present disclosure further relates to adhesive compositions. The present invention relates to a foam tape comprising the composition and a method for forming the same. [Background technology]

[0002] Pressure-sensitive adhesives are used in many industrial and consumer markets to bond a variety of substrates. Depending on the particular application, the pressure sensitive adhesive may be designed as a single layer or multiple layers. The substrates may be of similar or very different nature. The substrate is particularly suitable for use with polypropylene and polypropylene / ethylene propylene as the substrate on one side. If the material is made of a thermoplastic olefin containing diene terpolymer, installation is more difficult. Typically, pressure sensitive adhesives designed for these thermoplastic materials tend to be too stiff. These problems are due to the fact that pressure-sensitive adhesives tend to lack high adhesion and high cohesion. In applications where the product must have both durability and long-term exposure to the elements, Therefore, even after many years of exposure, the overall high There is a strong need to develop pressure sensitive adhesive compositions that maintain their intended performance. [0258] Test Method The following test methods were used to evaluate the adhesives of the present invention. All percentages, parts and proportions, and claims, unless otherwise stated, , by weight.

[0259] Test method A1: Strips of anodized aluminum (dimensions 19mm x 200mm x 0. 125 mm) to a non-tested tape sample 10 mm wide and at least 100 mm long Apply pressure to the aluminum by rolling it with a 6.8 kg roller. Next, rinse the other side of the sample (the test side) with heptane or isopropyl alcohol. Pre-washed polypropylene or polypropylene-ethylene propylene diene Adhere firmly to one of the polymer panels. 24 hours at room temperature and 50% relative humidity. After conditioning, the aluminum strip was placed at a 90° angle to the adhesive surface. The specimen is removed by pulling at a rate of cm / min. The test value is The force required to remove the tape from the adhesive (delamination of the adhesive) or to cohesively separate the tape is Foam slicing (FS) is a process where the adhesion to the substrate is stronger than the internal strength of the foam layer. This is the most desirable failure mode because it indicates that

After conditioning, the assembly is secured with a plastic panel and placed at a 90° angle. A 1.5 kg weight is suspended from the other arm of the aluminum fixture. The time it takes to fall is recorded in hours. If no failure occurs after 10,000 minutes, The test is cancelled.

[0266] The acidic polymer component A used in adhesive compositions S1 to S4 contains different acidic comonomers. It was synthesized via suspension polymerization of isobornyl acrylate / methacrylate using The general procedure was as follows: 400 mL of distilled water was added to a 1 L glass vessel and filled with nitrogen gas. After spraying the mixture for 1 hour, the mixture was heated to 65°C. (22 g), MAA (3 g), IOTG (0.7 g), and AIBN (1.0 g) were placed in a round-bottom flask. The water was then placed in a sco and purged with nitrogen gas for 45 minutes. When the water temperature reached 65°C, 00-88 (5 g of a 5 wt % solution in distilled water) was added to water and stirred at 700 rpm. The deoxygenated monomer mixture was then added to the reactor until vigorously stirred. The contents of the vessel were heated to 75°C and held at that temperature for 5.5 hours. The potassium chloride solution was added to the mixture and held at 75°C for an additional 2 hours. The product was isolated by filtration and washed repeatedly with distilled water. The sample was dried in a vacuum oven set at 50°C for 24 hours to remove any residual water. Table 2 shows the properties of the polymer components A1 to A4. [Table 3]

[0267] Component B of sample adhesive compositions S1 to S4 was prepared according to the weight percent composition shown in Table 1. V-initiated radical photopolymerization of a mixture of acrylates and basic monomers Based on 400g, Irgacure 819 (0.1g) was added. The mixture was dissolved in the above-mentioned monomer mixture, which was then purged with nitrogen gas for 1 hour, and then analyzed at 365 nm. The specimen was exposed to UV light at 5 mW / cm2 until a temperature rise of 15 to 20°C was observed. The obtained basic polymer component B had a viscosity of about 1000 cP.

[0268] The sample adhesive composition S1 was prepared by first mixing the relevant acidic polymer component A, the basic polymer component B, and the B, tackifier, IBOA, Irgacure 2022, and HDDA were used as listed in Table 1. The acidic and basic polymer components were combined in amounts such that The different ingredients were mixed at room temperature until dissolved to form syrup S1. The syrup was then mixed as described above. 0.9mm acrylic foam core or coated on 50 micron PET film Cure under UV light at 365nm, 5mW / cm² for 8 minutes to a thickness of approximately 100 microns An adhesive coating of 0.1g was formed.

[0269] For the sample adhesive compositions, S2, S3, and S4 are the relevant acidic polymer components A and the basic polymer component B were substituted as specified in Table 1. It was prepared in the same manner as adhesive composition S1.

However, the acidic comonomer was neutral hydroxyl-containing monomers or monomers and basic nitrogen-containing monomers The polymer component N was used instead of other polar comonomers such as a mixture of The results are summarized in Table 4. [Table 5]

[0272] Component B of Comparative Adhesive Compositions C1-C3 was prepared according to the instructions given for Sample Adhesive S1. Comparative adhesive compositions C1 to C3 were prepared by mixing component N, a basic polymer component B, and an adhesive. Additives, IBOA, Irgacure 2022, and HDDA in the amounts shown in Table 3 The ingredients N were completely dissolved to make syrups C1 to C3. The different components were mixed at room temperature until the syrup was dissolved in 0.9 mm acrylic foam. Coated on a 50 micron PET film or a foam core, 365 nm, 5 mW / c Cure under 10 ... Successful.

All of the adhesive samples and comparative adhesives appear to have good adhesion to low surface energy substrates. are formulated to be identical in all industry standard fixed rate of displacement tests. Make.

[0275] High adhesive and cohesive strength under severe conditions as described in test methods B1 and B2 This can be better measured using the more rigorous fixed load 90° peel test. Apply a fixed load and observe the time to failure, which allows for much greater adhesion to the adhesive. A better indicator of high adhesion and cohesion in stressful and demanding applications The adhesive samples S1 to S4 and the comparative adhesives C1 to C3 in tests B1 and B2 were The performance is summarized in Table 6 below. [Table 7]

[0276] The data show that the adhesives of the present invention, which contain both acidic and basic components, are particularly effective at high temperatures according to test B2. The comparative adhesive clearly demonstrates excellent adhesive and cohesive strength when tested at The adhesive rapidly broke down and failed, whereas the adhesive of the present invention performed far better under these harsh conditions. It had holding power.
