Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a composition in powder form at ambient temperature, containing at least one filler, at least one colour pigment and at least one polymer of crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte type. [Background technology]
[0002] The present invention also relates to a cosmetic composition for topical use in compressed form containing said powder composition and at least one binder, which exhibits improved impact resistance.
[0003] The invention also relates to the use of such compressed cosmetic compositions as products for cosmetically applying to human skin, and to a method for cosmetically applying to human skin using such compressed compositions.
[0004] Certain cosmetic compositions for topical use intended to make up the skin, such as facial foundations, facial foundation powders, eye shadows, or blushers, are generally in the form of compressed or molded powders.
[0005] For the purposes of the present invention, the term "compressed powder" is understood to mean a composition consisting essentially of a mixture of powders, including at least one filler, at least one pigment, at least one polymer of crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte type and at least one binder. After being formed, this mixture is shaped by compression in a pot.
[0006] These pressed powders are generally used by taking a small amount and then applying it to the skin using fingers or an applicator such as a brush or sponge.
[0007] A high-quality compressed powder is required to be easy to take, easy to spread, the spread obtained is uniform, and to have a soft feel after being applied to the skin. More specifically, a high-quality compressed powder must have a smooth and flat surface and retain its properties for a long time. It must also have a sufficiently high impact strength so as not to fragment and to maintain its properties.
[0008] In order to improve the impact strength properties, designers of compressed powders intended for cosmetic application to the skin have developed solutions based on the optimization of specific binders.
[0009] For example, the international patent application published as WO 9 / 17660 A1 describes the use of a mixture of at least one silicone oil, at least one silicone wax and at least one silicone resin, constituting a fatty binder intended to be subsequently mixed with a solid particle phase to obtain a compacted powder. However, it has been shown that the amount of binder used has a significant effect, which then leads to an oily appearance on the surface of the compacted powder and poor transfer efficiency to the finger or applicator before application.
[0010] The European patent application published under EP 0171979A2 describes a process for preparing a composition in the form of a compressed, storage-stable, impact-resistant powder characterized by a flat and smooth surface. The process forming the subject of EP 0717979A2 comprises the steps of dispersing a powder phase in a preformed oil-in-water emulsion, then casting the dispersion obtained in a mold, and subsequently drying the previously obtained dispersion by freeze-drying. However, such a process has the disadvantage that it is difficult to carry out on an industrial scale, since it involves expensive equipment that consumes a large amount of energy.
[0011] The US patent application published under US 2005 / 0186235 A1 describes a cosmetic composition which is in the form of a compressed powder and which comprises a pulverulent phase and a solid fatty phase, the preparation of which requires the implementation of a melting step of the solid fatty phase (or wax), which has proven to be very energy consuming.
[0012] The US patent application published under US2016 / 167040A1 describes a crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte type polymer (ATBS / HEA / SMA / LAUMA:88.1 / 9.9 / 1.5 / 0.5; Polyelectrolyte 1) in which the polymer backbone is composed of the ammonium salt of 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonate (ATBS), (2-hydroxyethyl)acrylate (HEA), stearyl methacrylate (SMA), and lauryl methacrylate (LAUMA), and is crosslinked with trimethylolpropane triacrylate. The US patent application published under US2016 / 167040A1 also describes a pressed powder cosmetic composition (Example 52) containing 2% by weight of Polyelectrolyte 1.
[0013] The French patent application published under the number FR 2 980 108 A1 describes a cosmetic composition in the form of a compressed, impact-resistant powder comprising a pulverulent phase and a liquid phase but not comprising a crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte type polymer.
[0014] In an attempt to overcome these drawbacks, the inventors set out to provide a cosmetic composition in the form of a compressed, impact-resistant powder, characterized by good transfer qualities to facilitate ease of collection and application to the skin, and prepared according to a process that does not require a large energy input. Summary of the Invention [Means for solving the problem]
[0015] Thus, the subject of the invention comprises, per 100% of its mass: i) 84.3% by mass to 95.8% by mass, preferably 86.9% by mass to 95.2% by mass, and more preferably 89.5% by mass to 94.65% by mass of at least one filler (FA); ii) 4% to 15% by weight, preferably 4.5% to 12.5% by weight, and more preferably 5% to 10% by weight of at least one color pigment (CP); iii) in the presence of at least one crosslinking agent, 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonic acid, partially or completely in the form of a salt, is reacted with at least one neutral monomer selected from the group consisting of 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, N,N-dialkylacrylamide, each of the alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and at least one monomer of formula (I) [ka] (wherein R represents a linear or branched alkyl radical containing 8 to 20 carbon atoms, and n represents a number greater than or equal to zero and less than or equal to 20). 0.2% to 0.7% by weight, preferably 0.3% to 0.6% by weight, and more preferably 0.35% to 0.5% by weight of at least one polymer (P) of the crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte type derived by polymerizing The powder composition (C1) is in powder form. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0016] For the purposes of the present invention, the term "filler" is understood to mean a solid chemical substance that is immiscible with water and dispersed in a matrix, which is introduced into a mixture, in this case a cosmetic composition, in order to improve its cost and certain properties, such as, for example, the skin coverage or the density of a powder composition.
[0017] According to a more specific embodiment, the powder composition (C1) comprises at least 90% by volume of particles having a diameter of less than or equal to 200 micrometers, more specifically less than or equal to 100 micrometers. In the context of the present invention, this means that the powder composition C1 corresponds to a powder of particles comparable to spheres having a diameter of less than or equal to 200 micrometers, more specifically less than or equal to 100 micrometers. It should be noted that particles of this size allow to achieve better cohesion of the subsequently obtained compacted powder.
[0018] This parameter is determined by a laser diffraction analyzer, for example a Malvern Mastersizer™ 2000 laser granulometer, equipped with a dispersion device, for example a dispersion device of the MS1-Small Volume Sample Dispersion™ type, and connected to calculation software making it possible to obtain a diffractogram consisting of the superposition of diffraction images for each size of particle represented by the analyzed powder.
[0019] In the analysis of the data collected in this way, an initial size distribution is estimated and a theoretical diffractogram is calculated and then compared to the actual data recorded. The difference between the estimated and actual data is then minimized using the least squares method. The software then calculates the volume distribution as the basic result and other information is deduced from this, assuming the particles are spherical.
[0020] This measurement method is particularly well suited for the characterization of powders whose constituent particles are comparable to spheres with diameters of 3000 micrometers to 0.1 micrometers, and for the characterization of dry powders. The use of this type of method has been shown to be particularly successful for particle sizes above 10 micrometers [P. Bowen, "Particle Size Distribution Measurement from Millimeters to Nanometers and from Rods to Platelets"; J. Dispersion Science and Technology, 23(5), pp.631-662(2002)].
[0021] In the definition of the powder composition (C1), the term "crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte type polymer (P)" means a non-linearly crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte in the form of a three-dimensional network that is insoluble in water but swellable in water, thus forming a chemical gel.

[0093] The following examples illustrate the present invention without, however, limiting it. EXAMPLES
[0094] Example 1: 1.1. Preparation of the terpolymer of ammonium 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonate, N,N-dimethylacrylamide and tetraethoxylated lauryl methacrylate crosslinked with trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) [AMPS / DMAM / LMA (4EO) molar ratio 77.4 / 19.2 / 3.4] [Example according to the invention] 592 g of an aqueous solution of 15% by weight ammonium 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonate in a tert-butanol / water mixture (volume ratio 97.5 / 2.5), 10.1 g of N,N-dimethylacrylamide, 4.2 g of tetraethoxylated lauryl methacrylate, and 0.75 g of trimethylolpropane triacrylate are placed in a reactor maintained at 25° C. with stirring.
[0095] After a time sufficient to make the solution well homogenized, oxygen is removed from it by sparging with nitrogen heated to 70° C. 0.42 g of dilauroyl peroxide is then added, after which the reaction medium is maintained at 70° C. for about 60 minutes and then at 80° C. for 2 hours.
[0096] After cooling, the powder formed during polymerization is filtered off and dried to obtain the target product (hereinafter referred to as polymer electrolyte 1).
[0097] 1.2 Preparation of ammonium 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonate, (2-hydroxyethyl)acrylate, stearyl methacrylate, and lauryl methacrylate crosslinked with trimethylpropane triacrylate (ATBS / HEA / SMA / LAUMA: 88.1 / 9.9 / 1.0 / 1.0; Polyelectrolyte 2). The following are charged with stirring into a reactor maintained at 25° C. and containing 245 g of tert-butanol: · 33.8 g of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (ATBS); 12.9 g ammonium bicarbonate; · 2.12g (2-hydroxyethyl) acrylate (HEA); · 0.62g Stearyl Methacrylate (SMA); · 0.48g Lauryl Methacrylate (LAUMA); · 0.54g trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA).
[0098] After a sufficient time to make the solution well homogenized, oxygen is removed from it by sparging with nitrogen, and then the temperature of the medium is brought to 70°C. After reaching the target temperature, 0.50 g of dilauroyl peroxide is added. Polymerization immediately begins. The reaction medium is then maintained at this temperature for about 60 minutes, and then the mixture is heated to 80°C. This temperature is maintained for 2 hours before cooling. The powder formed during polymerization is filtered off and dried to obtain polyelectrolyte 2.
[0099] 1.3. Preparation of terpolymer of ammonium 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonate, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate, and tetraethoxylated lauryl methacrylate crosslinked with trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) [AMPS / HEA / LMA(4EO), molar ratio 77.4 / 19.2 / 3.4 mol]. Using the operating conditions described in Example 1.1 above, a reactor maintained at 25° C. with stirring is charged with a 15% by weight solution of ammonium 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonate in a tert-butanol / water mixture (volume ratio 97.5 / 2.5) in a mass necessary to introduce 77.4 molar equivalents of ammonium 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonate, a mass of 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate necessary to introduce 19.2 molar equivalents of 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate, a mass of tetraethoxylated lauryl methacrylate necessary to introduce 3.4 molar equivalents of tetraethoxylated lauryl methacrylate, and a mass of trimethylolpropane triacrylate necessary to obtain the same molar proportions of trimethylolpropane triacrylate as in Example 1.1.
[0100] After a time sufficient to make the solution well homogenized, oxygen is removed from it by sparging with nitrogen heated to 70° C. 0.42 g of dilauroyl peroxide is then added, after which the reaction medium is maintained at 70° C. for about 60 minutes and then at 80° C. for 2 hours.
[0101] After cooling, the powder formed during polymerization is filtered off and dried to obtain the target product (hereinafter referred to as polymer electrolyte 3).
[0102] 1.4. Preparation of ammonium 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonate and (2-hydroxyethyl)acrylate copolymer [AMPS / HEA molar ratio 90 / 10] crosslinked with methylene bis(acrylamide) (MBA). Add the following to a beaker with stirring: 608.8 grams of a commercially available 50% solution containing the sodium salt of 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonic acid 72.6 grams of (2-hydroxyethyl)acrylate, 0.18 grams of sodium diethylenetriaminepentaacetate, and 0.121 grams of methylenebis(acrylamide), The pH of the aqueous phase is adjusted to 3.5 by adding 0.7 g of 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonic acid.
[0103] In parallel, prepare the organic phase by adding, in order, the following to a stirred beaker: 220g Isopar M, 25g Montane 70 VG (sorbitan oleate ethoxylated with 20 moles of ethylene oxide, available from SEPPIC) and 0.2 g of azobis(isobutyronitrile).
[0104] The aqueous phase is gradually introduced into the organic phase followed by vigorous mechanical stirring using an Ultra-Turrax sold by IKA.
[0105] The resulting emulsion is then transferred to a polymerization reactor. The emulsion is thoroughly sparged with nitrogen to remove oxygen and then cooled to about 5-6°C.
[0106] Then, 10 grams of a solution of 1.1% by weight of cumene hydroperoxide activator in isohexadecane are introduced. After a time sufficient to homogenize the solution well, 25 grams of an aqueous solution of sodium metabisulfite (0.2% solution) are introduced in about 25 minutes. During this introduction, the temperature in the polymerization reactor is increased to the final polymerization temperature, and the reaction medium is then maintained at this temperature for about 90 minutes.
[0107] The mixture obtained is then cooled to a temperature of about 35° C. to obtain an emulsion which is then sprayed by means of a Niro™ type device to obtain polyelectrolyte 4 in powder form.
[0108] In Example 1.4 above, the monomer of formula (1) does not participate in the polymerization reaction, thus resulting in a crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte (Polyelectrolyte 4) intended to compare the effects associated with the presence of the monomer of formula (1) in the polymer backbone of crosslinked anionic polyelectrolytes.
[0109] Example 2: A- Preparation of compressed compositions according to the invention containing polyelectrolytes 1-4 and comparative formulations. The color pigment to be tested, the filler (talc) and the crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte are placed in a Thermomix TM3300 model Vorwerk brand knife mill. The powder mixture is then subjected to three successive grinding operations of 30 seconds each at a temperature of 25° C. and a stirring speed of 7700 revolutions per minute. The walls of the bowl are scraped between each grinding operation to ensure that all the powder is incorporated during the grinding process.
[0110] The binder is then spread over the mixture of powders thus obtained in the bowl of the mill, and this new mixture is then subjected to three grinding operations for 30 seconds, effectively scraping the walls of the bowl between each grinding.
[0111] An optimal amount of 11 g of this mixture is placed in a metal pot of diameter 3 cm and a "bergamot" type cloth (100% polyamide) is placed on the surface of the pot. The pot is then placed in a manual "compactor", i.e. a device for compressing the powder present in the pot by applying a determined pressure.
[0112] A pressure of 130 bar is then applied to the pot for 1 second at a temperature of 25°C.
[0113] Formulations (F1), (F2), (F3), (F4) according to the invention and comparative formulations (F5), (F6), (F'1) and (F'2) are obtained, as set out in Tables 1 and 2 below.
[0114] [Table 1]
[0115] [Table 2]
[0116] B - Demonstration of the properties and characteristics of the compressed blends according to the invention compared to the prior art. The previously prepared formulations (F1)-(F6) and comparative formulations (F'1) and (F'2) are then evaluated as follows: - Measuring impact strength using the "drop test" method; Evaluation of skin transfer at ambient temperature (25°C); Evaluation of skin migration after storage in a humid atmosphere at 50°C.
[0117] Experimental protocol for evaluation of the impact strength of compounds (F1) to (F6) and compounds (F'1) and (F'2) by the "Drop Test" method · Principle: To determine the number of successive drops until cracks and / or crumbling occur on the surface of the compressed compound being tested. Apparatus: Metal pot with a diameter of 3 cm containing the compressed compound to be tested, tubular guide for dropping Procedure: The formulations to be tested are prepared according to the procedure described above and obtained in pots with a diameter of 3 centimeters. Each pot is placed at a height of 20 centimeters from the ground and is thrown x times from said height along a tubular guide. After each drop, the experimenter observes the surface of the formulation present in the pot and records, depending on the situation, "no cracks or crumbling on the surface" or "presence of cracks or crumbling on the surface". The experimenter then determines the number of consecutive drops required to observe for the first time the "presence of cracks or crumbling on the surface". The test is repeated 3 times for each formulation.
[0118] Experimental protocol for evaluating the quality of transfer to the skin of formulations (F1) to (F6) and formulation (F'1) at 25°C and 50°C · Principle: Qualify the transfer of the tested compressed compound to the experimenter's finger at 25°C and 50°C by estimating the sufficiency of the amount recovered after moving the finger over the pot. Apparatus: A metal pot with a diameter of 3 cm containing the compressed compound to be tested. Procedure: The formulation to be tested is prepared according to the procedure described above and obtained in a pot of 3 centimeters in diameter. Before each test, the experimenter washes his hands with soap and dries them to remove the moisture caused by rinsing. He then runs his fingers over the surface of the pot containing the formulation to be tested in order to take some on his hands. He then determines the sufficiency of the amount retrieved using the criteria of "poor deposition", "average deposition" and "excellent deposition". Measurement conditions: Formulations are tested after 7 days of storage at 25°C and ambient humidity and at 50°C under high humidity. For these measurements, pots are placed on a water bed in a closed chamber placed in an oven at 50°C for 7 days. Measurements are taken on the 1st, 3rd and 7th days.
[0119] The results of these evaluations are shown in Tables 3 and 4 below.
[0120] [Table 3]
[0121] [Table 4]
[0122] Comments and conclusions The results will be considered satisfactory if: If the experimenter drops the item 5 or more times in a row without observing any cracks or crumbling on the surface, If the adhesion characteristic at 25°C is judged to be "excellent adhesion," The adhesion characteristic at 50°C is judged to be "excellent adhesion".
[0123] Formulations (F1), (F2) and (F3) containing 0.5% by weight of polyelectrolyte 1, polyelectrolyte 2 and polyelectrolyte 3, respectively, exhibit desirable impact strength (8, 7 and 5 drops, respectively, before cracks are observed) and also exhibit a deposition characteristic that is judged to be "good deposition" at 25° C. and 50° C. In contrast, formulation (F'1) containing a copolymer based on the sodium salt of 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonic acid and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate, crosslinked with methylene bis(acrylamide) but not containing the monomer of formula (I) defined above, exhibits poor impact strength, since only one drop is required for cracks to appear on the surface of the compressed formulation (F'1).
[0124] The comparative formulations (F5) and (F6), which contain a proportion by weight of crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte (P) in composition (C1) greater than 0.7%, are characterized by poor adhesion to the skin in the 50° C. test.
[0125] The comparative formulation (F'2), which is characterized by not containing a crosslinked anionic polyelectrolyte type polymer (P), shows no improved impact strength.
