CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] This application claims priority to Japanese Application No. 2021-161638 (filed September 30, 2021), the entire disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference. [Technical field]

[0002] The present disclosure relates to a flow path device and a separation processing device. [Background technology]

[0003] A separation processing device is known in which a separation flow path device having a fine flow path (also called a separation flow path) for separating a specific type of particle from a fluid containing multiple types of particles, and a measurement flow path device having a flow path (also called a measurement flow path) for measuring a fluid (also called a specimen) containing a specific particle separated and collected by the separation flow path device are connected (see, for example, the description in Patent Document 1). In this separation processing device, the measurement flow path device has a first hole for introducing the specimen into the measurement flow path and a second hole for collecting the specimen from the measurement flow path. And, the measurement flow path device can be formed, for example, by bonding a first plate-like member made of resin having a groove formed therein and a second plate-like member made of resin in a state where the first plate-like member and the second plate-like member are stacked in a form in which the second plate-like member blocks the groove of the first plate-like member.

[0004] Meanwhile, a technique for manufacturing a flow channel device in which a flow channel is formed inside by the groove of the first plate-like member and the surface of the second plate-like member by stacking and joining a first plate-like member having a groove on its surface and a flat second plate-like member is known (see, for example, the descriptions in Patent Documents 2 and 3). In this technique, for example, before the first plate-like member and the second plate-like member are joined, the joining surface of the first plate-like member has a groove for forming a flow channel and a joining protrusion along the groove around the groove, and the joining surface of the second plate-like member has a joining recess at a location facing the joining protrusion. Then, for example, when the first plate-like member and the second plate-like member are joined, the first plate-like member and the second plate-like member are stacked in a form in which the tip of the joining protrusion is in contact with the bottom of the joining recess, and the joining protrusion is joined to the joining recess by ultrasonic welding or the like. [0006] A flow path device and a separation processing device are disclosed.

[0007] One embodiment of the flow path device includes a first plate-like member and a second plate-like member, and has a groove-shaped first flow path, a first hole, a second hole, a joint portion, a non-joint portion, and a pair of dividing portions. The first plate-like member has a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The second plate-like member has a third surface and a fourth surface opposite to the third surface, and is a member laminated on the first plate-like member. A part of the third surface is in a state of being joined to the second surface. The groove-shaped first flow path is located between the second surface and the third surface, and does not open to either the first surface or the fourth surface. The first hole is connected to a first end region of the groove-shaped first flow path in a first longitudinal direction of the groove-shaped first flow path, and opens to the first surface or the fourth surface. The second hole is connected to a second end region of the groove-shaped first flow path opposite to the first end region in the first longitudinal direction, and opens to the fourth surface. The joint portion is located along the groove-shaped first flow path on both sides in the width direction along the second surface perpendicular to the first longitudinal direction of the groove-shaped first flow path. When the second surface includes a recess and the third surface includes a protrusion, or when the second surface includes the protrusion and the third surface includes the recess, the joint portion is a portion where the protrusion and the recess are joined. The non-joining portion is located between the protrusion and the groove-shaped first flow path along the groove-shaped first flow path on both sides in the width direction of the groove-shaped first flow path. The non-joining portion is a portion where the second surface and the third surface are in contact or close to each other. The pair of dividing portions divide the non-joining portion in the first longitudinal direction on both sides in the width direction of the groove-shaped first flow path. The pair of dividing portions fills a gap between the protrusion and a part of the groove-shaped first flow path located between the first end region and the second end region in the first longitudinal direction.

[0008] One embodiment of the separation processing device includes a first flow path device including the flow path device of the embodiment above, and a second flow path device located on the first surface of the first flow path device. The first hole opens into the first surface. The second flow path device has a fifth surface and a sixth surface, and has a groove-shaped separation flow path and a fourth hole. The fifth surface is located on the opposite side to the first surface. The sixth surface is located on the side of the first surface opposite to the fifth surface. The groove-shaped separation flow path does not open into the fifth surface. The fourth hole communicates with the separation flow path and opens into the sixth surface. The fourth hole is connected to the first hole. [Brief description of the drawings]

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0010] A separation processing device is known in which a separation flow path device having a fine flow path (also called a separation flow path) for separating a specific type of particle from a fluid containing multiple types of particles, and a measurement flow path device including a flow path (also called a measurement flow path) for measuring a fluid (specimen) containing a specific type of particle separated and collected by the separation flow path device are connected. In this separation processing device, the measurement flow path device has a first hole for introducing the specimen into the measurement flow path and a second hole for collecting the specimen from the measurement flow path. The measurement flow path device can be formed, for example, by bonding a first plate-like member made of resin having a groove formed therein and a second plate-like member made of resin in a state in which the first plate-like member and the second plate-like member are stacked in a form in which the second plate-like member blocks the groove of the first plate-like member.

[0011] Here, it is considered to manufacture a flow path device in which a measurement flow path is formed by the groove of the first plate-shaped member and the surface of the second plate-shaped member by stacking and joining a first plate-shaped member having a groove on its surface and a flat second plate-shaped member. In this case, for example, before joining the first plate-shaped member and the second plate-shaped member, the joining surface of the first plate-shaped member has a groove for forming a measurement flow path and a joining convex portion (also called a joining convex portion) along the groove around the groove, and the joining surface of the second plate-shaped member has a joining concave portion (also called a joining concave portion) at a location facing the joining convex portion. Then, for example, it is considered to join the first plate-shaped member and the second plate-shaped member by stacking the first plate-shaped member and the second plate-shaped member in a form in which the tip of the joining convex portion is in contact with the bottom of the joining concave portion, and joining the joining convex portion to the joining concave portion by ultrasonic welding or the like.

[0012] Here, when the first plate-like member and the second plate-like member are joined, if a part of the molten joining protrusion enters the measurement flow path and solidifies, the solidified part may be mixed as an impurity into the specimen in the measurement flow path. In this case, the accuracy of a predetermined measurement process such as counting (detecting the number of) a specific type of particle targeted at the specimen introduced into the measurement flow path may decrease. Furthermore, the purity of the introduced specimen may decrease due to the impurity being mixed into the specimen.

[0013] Therefore, when joining the first plate-like member and the second plate-like member, a method is considered in which the portion where the joining concave portion and the joining convex portion are joined (also called the joining portion) is slightly separated from the measurement flow path to reduce the intrusion of a part of the melted joining convex portion into the measurement flow path. If this method is adopted, the measurement flow path device has a portion (also called a non-joined portion) where the first plate-like member and the second plate-like member are in contact or close to each other but are not joined between the joining convex portion and the measurement flow path after joining on both sides of the measurement flow path. In this non-joined portion, a minute gap exists between the first plate-like member and the second plate-like member.

[0014] In the measurement flow path device, for example, there is a case where it is desired to introduce a liquid, which is a type of fluid, from the first hole side of the measurement flow path to a partway between the region to which the first hole is connected and the region to which the second hole is connected. For example, in order to smoothly introduce a specific type of particle from the separation flow path device to the measurement flow path via the first hole, a dispersion fluid that disperses the specific type of particle can be introduced into the measurement flow path in advance. When the fluid containing a plurality of types of particles is blood and the specific type of particle is white blood cells, a liquid that mainly contains phosphate buffered saline (PBS), which is a type of liquid, can be applied as the dispersion fluid. Also, for example, in order to sufficiently disperse white blood cells as the specific type of particle in the dispersion fluid, a mode in which the advancement and retreat of the fluid using another flow path connected to the first hole side of the measurement flow path can be repeated. In this case, a stirring process is performed in which an operation of moving the dispersion fluid from the first hole side to the second hole side and an operation of moving the dispersion fluid from the second hole side to the first hole side are repeated in the measurement flow path.

[0015] In this case, however, an unintended phenomenon may occur in which the liquid in the measurement flow path immediately reaches the second hole due to capillary action in the non-jointed portion, for example.

[0016] Here, for example, if the viscosity of the liquid introduced into the measurement flow path is low, the liquid that reaches the second hole is successively discharged from the second hole to the outside of the measurement flow path device, reducing the amount of liquid that should remain in the measurement flow path, which may increase the concentration of a specific type of particle in the specimen. This may result in a decrease in the accuracy of a predetermined measurement process, such as counting (detecting the number of) a specific type of particle, for a specimen introduced into the measurement flow path.

[0017] Also, for example, in order to keep the concentration of a specific type of particle in the specimen constant in the measurement flow path, a configuration may be adopted in which the dispersion fluid is replenished so that the specimen is filled up to a predetermined position on the way from the first hole side to the second hole side in the measurement flow path. Here, for example, if a configuration is adopted in which the specimen is collected from the measurement flow path through the second hole, when the viscosity of the liquid introduced into the measurement flow path is low, the liquid that has reached the second hole due to the capillary phenomenon in the non-jointed portion is discharged one after another from the second hole to the outside of the measurement flow path device. Therefore, the liquid as the dispersion fluid is collected first, and then the specimen can be collected. As a result, for example, the collected specimen may be diluted by the liquid collected in advance, and the concentration of the specific type of particle in the collected specimen may decrease. As a result, for example, various problems may occur when various processes are performed on the collected specimen.

[0018] Also, for example, when the viscosity of the liquid introduced into the measurement flow path is high, the liquid that reaches the second hole blocks the second hole due to the capillary phenomenon in the non-jointed portion. In this case, for example, air is trapped between the liquid introduced from the first hole side of the measurement flow path to between the area where the first hole communicates and the area where the second hole communicates, and the part of the liquid that has reached the second hole. As a result, for example, when the above-mentioned stirring process is performed, the part of the liquid that has reached the second hole may foam, and the foam may be mixed into the specimen in the measurement flow path. As a result, for example, the accuracy of a predetermined measurement process such as counting (detecting the number of) a specific type of particle targeted at the specimen introduced into the measurement flow path may decrease. Also, for example, hemispherical bubbles may adhere to the entrance of a tubular body (referred to as a collection tubular body) arranged under the second hole to collect the specimen discharged from the second hole. As a result, for example, the specimen discharged from the second hole may run down the surface of the hemispherical bubbles and spill to the side of the collection tubular body. As a result, it may become impossible to properly collect the sample from the measurement flow path.

[0019] As described above, if an unintended phenomenon occurs in which liquid in the measurement flow path quickly reaches the second hole due to capillary action in the non-bonded portion, various problems can occur.

[0020] Such a problem can commonly occur in any flow channel device in which a flow channel is formed by joining two plate-like members.

[0021] For this reason, there is room for improvement in the flow path device in that when liquid is introduced from the first hole side of the internal flow path to halfway between the area connected to the first hole and the area connected to the second hole, it is made more difficult for liquid to unnecessarily reach the second hole.

[0022] Therefore, the inventors of the present disclosure have created a technology for a flow path device that makes it difficult for liquid to unnecessarily reach the second hole when liquid is introduced from the first hole side of the flow path to halfway between the area connected to the first hole and the area connected to the second hole.

[0023] Hereinafter, an embodiment and various examples will be described with reference to the drawings. In the drawings, parts having the same or similar configurations and functions are given the same reference numerals. In the following description, duplicated descriptions of parts having the same or similar configurations and functions will be omitted. The drawings are schematic.

[0024] For convenience, some of the drawings include a right-handed XYZ coordinate system. In the following description, the +Z direction is taken to mean the vertically upward direction (or simply upward). The vertically downward direction is also referred to as the -Z direction. The direction opposite the X direction is also referred to as the -X direction. The direction opposite the Y direction is also referred to as the -Y direction.

[0025] In each of the cross-sectional views of Figures 3 to 5, 7 to 9 and 18, a portion of the processing device is omitted by a cutaway.

[0026] In the following description, a "channel" is a structure through which a fluid flows. The length of the channel in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the channel extends is referred to as the width of the channel.

[0027] <1. Schematic example of the configuration of a flow path device> FIG. 1 is a plan view showing an example of a flow channel device 100 as a separation processing device according to one embodiment.

[0028] The flow path device 100 includes a processing device 1 as a first flow path device, a connection member 2, and a separation device 3 as a second flow path device. The processing device 1, the connection member 2, and the separation device 3 are stacked on top of each other in the order shown in the drawing toward the +Z direction. In other words, the connection member 2 is located on the processing device 1, and the separation device 3 is located on the connection member 2.

[0029] The processing device 1 is a device having a surface (also referred to as a first upper surface) 1a and a surface (also referred to as a first lower surface) 1b. The first upper surface 1a is located on the +Z direction side of the first lower surface 1b.

[0030] The connection member 2 has a surface (also referred to as a second upper surface) 2a and a surface (also referred to as a second lower surface) 2b. The second upper surface 2a is located on the +Z direction side of the second lower surface 2b. The second lower surface 2b is in contact with the first upper surface 1a. The second lower surface 2b and the first upper surface 1a are bonded, for example, by plasma bonding or optical bonding.

[0031] The separation device 3 is a device having a surface (also referred to as a third upper surface) 3a and a surface (also referred to as a third lower surface) 3b. The third upper surface 3a is located on the +Z direction side of the third lower surface 3b. The separation device 3 is located on the first upper surface 1a of the processing device 1. More specifically, a connection member 2 is interposed between the third lower surface 3b of the separation device 3 and the first upper surface 1a of the processing device 1. The third lower surface 3b of the separation device 3 is in contact with the second upper surface 2a of the connection member 2. The third lower surface 3b and the second upper surface 2a are bonded, for example, by plasma bonding or optical bonding. For example, oxygen plasma is applied to the above-mentioned plasma bonding. For example, ultraviolet light from an excimer lamp is applied to the above-mentioned optical bonding.

[0032] The processing device 1, the connection member 2 and the separation device 3 all have a rectangular plate-like outer shape in a plan view (hereinafter, unless otherwise specified, in a plan view seen in the -Z direction). The first upper surface 1a, the first lower surface 1b, the second upper surface 2a, the second lower surface 2b, the third upper surface 3a and the third lower surface 3b are each perpendicular to the +Z direction.

[0033] Fig. 2 is a plan view diagrammatically illustrating an example of the processing device 1. In Fig. 2, a region R2 surrounded by a rectangular dashed line indicates a position on the first upper surface 1a where the second lower surface 2b of the connection member 2 is joined.

[0034] The thickness of the processing device 1 is, for example, about 0.5 millimeters (mm) to 5 mm. The thickness of the processing device 1 is the length of the processing device 1 along the +Z direction. The width of the first upper surface 1a and the first lower surface 1b is, for example, about 10 mm to 50 mm. The width of the first upper surface 1a and the first lower surface 1b is the length of the first upper surface 1a and the first lower surface 1b along the +X direction. The length of the first upper surface 1a and the first lower surface 1b is, for example, about 20 mm to 100 mm. The length of the first upper surface 1a and the first lower surface 1b is the length of the first upper surface 1a and the first lower surface 1b along the +Y direction.

[0035] The processing device 1 has six inlet holes 121, 122, 124, 126, 128, 129, two discharge holes 125, 127, and agitation hole 123. The three inlet holes 126, 128, 129 and the two discharge holes 125, 127 are holes that open on the first upper surface 1a in the region R2. The three inlet holes 121, 122, 124, and the agitation hole 123 are holes that open on the first upper surface 1a at positions other than the region R2. In other words, none of the six inlet holes 121, 122, 124, 126, 128, 129, the two discharge holes 125, 127, and the agitation hole 123 open on the first lower surface 1b.

[0036] The processing device 1 has three discharge holes 141, 142, and 143. Each of the three discharge holes 141, 142, and 143 is a hole that opens on the first lower surface 1b at a position other than the region R2. In other words, none of the discharge holes 141, 142, and 143 opens on the first upper surface 1a.

[0037] The processing device 1 has a plurality of flow paths 1f. The plurality of flow paths 1f includes an agitation flow path 115, eight flow paths 111, 112, 113, 114, 116, 117, 118, and 119, a measurement flow path 151, and a reference flow path 152. Each of the plurality of flow paths 1f is a groove-like flow path that is not open to either the first upper surface 1a or the first lower surface 1b.

[0038] The flow path 111 communicates with the inlet hole 121 and the outlet hole 127. The expression "the first part communicates with the second part" means a form in which the first part is directly connected to the second part in a state in which a fluid can flow between the first part and the second part, or a form in which the first part is connected to the second part via another part (also called the third part) in a state in which a fluid can flow between the first part and the second part. Here, the first part, the second part, and the third part each apply to a part through which a fluid can flow, such as a flow path or a hole. The third part may be a part in which two or more flow paths are combined, a part in which one or more flow paths and one or more holes are combined, or a part in which two or more holes are combined. The flow path 112 communicates with the inlet hole 128 and the outlet hole 141. The flow path 113 communicates with the inlet hole 122 and the outlet hole 125. The flow path 114 communicates with the inlet hole 126 and the outlet hole 142.

[0039] The measurement flow path 151 is a flow path (also referred to as a first flow path) 1FP interposed between the flow path 117 and the flow path 119. The measurement flow path 151 has a longitudinal direction (also referred to as a first longitudinal direction). The first longitudinal direction is a direction in which the measurement flow path 151 extends. In the example of FIG. 2, the first longitudinal direction is a direction along the -Y direction from the flow path 117 toward the flow path 119. In other words, the measurement flow path 151 extends in the -Y direction. The measurement flow path 151 is connected to the flow path 117 at an end on the +Y direction side, and is connected to the flow path 119 at an end on the opposite side to the +Y direction (the -Y direction side). The portion where the measurement flow path 151 is connected to the flow path 117 overlaps with the region R2 in a plan view.

[0040] Here, the measurement flow path 151 has a region (also referred to as a first end region) E1 located at one end in the first longitudinal direction, and a region (also referred to as a second end region) E2 located at an end opposite to the first end region E1 in the first longitudinal direction. In other words, the measurement flow path 151 has a first end region E1 and a second end region E2 on both sides in the first longitudinal direction. In the example of FIG. 2, the first end region E1 is located at an end of the measurement flow path 151 on the +Y direction side, and the second end region E2 is located at an end of the measurement flow path 151 on the -Y direction side. The measurement flow path 151 is connected to the introduction hole 129 in the first end region E1. In other words, the introduction hole 129 is connected to the first end region E1 of the measurement flow path 151. Therefore, the introduction hole 129 is a hole (also referred to as a first hole) that is connected to the measurement flow path 151 and opens to the first upper surface 1a.

[0041] The measurement flow path 151 is connected to the flow path 117 in the first end region E1. In the example of FIG. 2, the first end region E1 of the measurement flow path 151 is connected to the stirring flow path 115 via the flow path 117 and a part of the flow path 116. The expression "the first part is connected to the second part" means a form in which the first part is directly connected to the second part in a state in which a fluid can flow between the first part and the second part, or a form in which the first part is connected to the second part via another part (third part) in a state in which a fluid can flow between the first part and the second part. Therefore, the stirring flow path 115 is connected to the first end region E1 of the measurement flow path 151. In other words, the stirring flow path 115 is connected to the first end region E1 of the measurement flow path 151.

[0042] The flow path 116 is interposed between the flow path 117 and the reference flow path 152, and is connected to the agitation flow path 115 between the flow path 117 and the reference flow path 152. The flow path 117 is interposed between the measurement flow path 151 and the flow path 116. The flow path 118 is connected to the introduction hole 124, and is interposed between the introduction hole 124 and the reference flow path 152. The flow path 119 is interposed between the discharge hole 143 and the measurement flow path 151, and is connected to the discharge hole 143. Therefore, the discharge hole 143 is a hole (also called a second hole) that is connected to the measurement flow path 151 via the flow path 119 and opens to the first lower surface 1b. More specifically, the discharge hole 143 is connected to the second end region E2 of the measurement flow path 151 via the flow path 119. In other words, the discharge hole 143 leads to the second end region E2 of the measurement flow path 151.

[0043] The agitation flow path 115 is a flow path (also referred to as a second flow path) 2FP interposed between the agitation hole 123 and the flow path 116. The agitation flow path 115 has a longitudinal direction (also referred to as a second longitudinal direction). The second longitudinal direction is the direction in which the agitation flow path 115 extends. In the example of FIG. 2, the agitation flow path 115 meanders. Specifically, the direction in which the agitation flow path 115 extends changes from the agitation hole 123 toward the flow path 116 in the order of a direction along the +Y direction, a direction along the +X direction, a direction along the -Y direction, and a direction along the +X direction and +Y direction.

[0044] Here, the stirring flow path 115 has a region (also referred to as a third end region) E3 located at one end in the second longitudinal direction, and a region (also referred to as a fourth end region) E4 located at the end opposite to the third end region E3 in the second longitudinal direction. In other words, the stirring flow path 115 has a third end region E3 and a fourth end region E4 on both sides in the second longitudinal direction. The stirring flow path 115 is connected to the measurement flow path 151 through a part of the flow path 116 and the flow path 117 in the third end region E3. In other words, the third end region E3 of the stirring flow path 115 is connected to the measurement flow path 151. The stirring flow path 115 is connected to the stirring hole 123 in the fourth end region E4. Therefore, the stirring hole 123 is a hole (also referred to as a third hole) that is connected to the fourth end region E4 of the stirring flow path 115 and opens to the first upper surface 1a.

[0045] The reference flow path 152 is interposed between the flow path 116 and the flow path 118. The reference flow path 152 extends in the +Y direction, is connected to the flow path 116 on the +Y direction side, and is connected to the flow path 118 on the opposite side to the +Y direction (the -Y direction side). In the example of Fig. 2, both the measurement flow path 151 and the reference flow path 152 extend in the +Y direction. However, the measurement flow path 151 and the reference flow path 152 may extend in different directions from each other.

[0046] 3, 4 and 5 each show a virtual cross section of the flow channel device 100. FIG.

[0047] The processing device 1 includes a first plate-shaped member 11 and a second plate-shaped member 12. The first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are in a stacked state. In other words, the second plate-shaped member 12 is stacked on the first plate-shaped member 11. In the examples of FIG. 3, FIG. 4, and FIG. 5, the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are in a stacked state in the order of description toward the -Z direction. The first plate-shaped member 11 is a plate-shaped member having a first surface 11a and a second surface 11b opposite to the first surface 11a. The first surface 11a is located on the +Z direction side of the second surface 11b. The second plate-shaped member 12 is a plate-shaped member having a third surface 12a and a fourth surface 12b opposite to the third surface 12a. The third surface 12a is located on the +Z direction side of the fourth surface 12b.

[0048] The first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are in a state where a part of the third surface 12a is joined to the second surface 11b. As a result, the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 constitute an integrated processing device 1. In the form of the processing device 1, the first surface 11a is the first upper surface 1a, and the fourth surface 12b is the second lower surface 2b. Each of the multiple flow paths 1f is located between the second surface 11b and the third surface 12a. More specifically, each of the stirring flow path 115, the eight flow paths 111, 112, 113, 114, 116, 117, 118, 119, the measurement flow path 151, and the reference flow path 152 is located between the second surface 11b and the third surface 12a. The six introduction holes 121, 122, 124, 126, 128, and 129, the two discharge holes 125 and 127, and the stirring hole 123 each penetrate the first plate-shaped member 11. The three discharge holes 141, 142, and 143 each penetrate the second plate-shaped member 12.

[0049] As the agitation flow path 115 moves from the agitation hole 123 toward the flow path 116, it extends in the +Y direction, then extends slightly in the +X direction, then extends in the -Y direction, then extends slightly in the +X direction, and then extends again in the +Y direction, and connects to the flow path 116. The part of the agitation flow path 115 that connects to the flow path 116 is inclined with respect to the +Y direction in a manner that it approaches the -X direction as it moves toward the +Y direction. The part of the flow path 116 that connects to the agitation flow path 115 extends in the -X direction. Here, a form is adopted in which the minor angle (also called the first minor angle) formed by the flow path 116 and the agitation flow path 115 on the side of the flow path 117 is larger than the minor angle (also called the second minor angle) formed by the flow path 116 and the agitation flow path 115 on the opposite side of the flow path 117. In this case, the fluid pushed out from the agitation flow path 115 to the flow path 116 tends to move toward the measurement flow path 151 via the flow path 117. The less tortuous the flow path, the easier it is for the fluid to move through it.

[0050] The processing device 1 has four cylinders 101, 102, 103, and 104 that each protrude in the +Z direction on the first upper surface 1a. The cylinder 101 is positioned so as to surround the introduction hole 121 around the Z axis in a plan view. The cylinder 102 is positioned so as to surround the introduction hole 122 around the Z axis in a plan view. The cylinder 103 is positioned so as to surround the stirring hole 123 around the Z axis in a plan view. The cylinder 104 is positioned so as to surround the introduction hole 124 around the Z axis in a plan view.

[0051] The processing device 1 has three cylinders 131, 132, and 133 protruding in the direction opposite to the +Z direction (-Z direction) on the first lower surface 1b. The cylinder 131 is positioned so as to surround the discharge hole 141 around the Z axis in a plan view. The cylinder 132 is positioned so as to surround the discharge hole 142 around the Z axis in a plan view. The cylinder 133 is positioned so as to surround the discharge hole 143 around the Z axis in a plan view.

[0052] Fig. 6 is a plan view showing an example of the connection member 2. In Fig. 6, a rectangular region R3 surrounded by a dashed line indicates the position where the third lower surface 3b is joined.

[0053] The connection member 2 has five through holes 225, 226, 227, 228, and 229. Each of the five through holes 225, 226, 227, 228, and 229 is a hole that penetrates between the second upper surface 2a and the second lower surface 2b in the region R3.

[0054] 7, 8 and 9 each show a virtual cross section of the flow channel device 100. FIG.

[0055] The separation device 3 has a third upper surface 3a as a fifth surface, and a third lower surface 3b as a sixth surface opposite to the third upper surface 3a. In the separation device 3, the third upper surface 3a is located on the opposite side to the first upper surface 1a, and the third lower surface 3b is located on the first upper surface 1a side. The connection member 2 is interposed between the third lower surface 3b of the separation device 3 and the first upper surface 1a of the processing device 1. The connection member 2 has, for example, a sheet-like form.

[0056] The through hole 225 is connected to the discharge hole 125. The through hole 225 is connected to the introduction hole 122 via the discharge hole 125 and the flow path 113 in this order. The through hole 226 is connected to the introduction hole 126. The through hole 226 is connected to the discharge hole 142 via the introduction hole 126 and the flow path 114 in this order. The through hole 227 is connected to the discharge hole 127. The through hole 227 is connected to the introduction hole 121 via the discharge hole 127 and the flow path 111 in this order. The through hole 228 is connected to the introduction hole 128. The through hole 228 is connected to the discharge hole 141 via the introduction hole 128 and the flow path 112 in this order. The through hole 229 is connected to the introduction hole 129. The through hole 229 is connected to the measurement flow path 151 via the introduction hole 129.

[0057] FIG. 10 is a plan view showing an example of the separation device 3. As shown in FIG.

[0058] The thickness (length along the +Z direction) of the separation device 3 is, for example, about 1 mm to 5 mm. The width of each of the third upper surface 3a and the third lower surface 3b is, for example, about 10 mm to 50 mm. The width of the third upper surface 3a is the length of the third upper surface 3a along the +X direction. The width of the third lower surface 3b is the length of the third lower surface 3b along the +X direction. The length of each of the third upper surface 3a and the third lower surface 3b is, for example, about 10 mm to 30 mm. The length of the third upper surface 3a is the length of the third upper surface 3a along the +Y direction. The length of the third lower surface 3b is the length of the third lower surface 3b along the +Y direction.

[0059] The separation device 3 has two inlet holes 325, 327, three outlet holes 326, 328, 329, a separation channel 30, and five channels 35, 36, 37, 38, 39. Each of the two inlet holes 325, 327 and the three outlet holes 326, 328, 329 is a hole that does not open to the third upper surface 3a and opens to the third lower surface 3b as the sixth surface. Each of the separation channel 30 and the five channels 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 is a groove-shaped channel that does not open to the third upper surface 3a and opens to the third lower surface 3b. In other words, each of the separation channel 30 and the five channels 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 is a groove-shaped channel that does not open to the third upper surface 3a as the fifth surface.

[0060] In the separation device 3, the third lower surface 3b is in contact with the second upper surface 2a at locations other than where the two inlet holes 325, 327, the three outlet holes 326, 328, 329, the separation channel 30, and the five channels 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 are located. No fluid moves between the third lower surface 3b and the second upper surface 2a at locations where the third lower surface 3b and the second upper surface 2a are in contact. The separation channel 30 and the five channels 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 cooperate with the second upper surface 2a to move the fluid.

[0061] The separation channel 30 has a main channel 34 and an output port 303. The main channel 34 has an input port 341 and an output port 342. The main channel 34 extends from the input port 341 to the output port 342 in the -Y direction.

[0062] Figure 11 shows a part of the separation device 3. For convenience of illustration, the separation channel 30 and the two channels 35, 37 are drawn with solid lines in Figure 11.

[0063] The separation channel 30 has a plurality of branch channels 301. Each of the branch channels 301 branches off from the main channel 34 at a different position in the +Y direction. Each of the branch channels 301 extends along the +X direction. Each of the branch channels 301 communicates with an output port 303 on the side opposite to the main channel 34.

[0064] The inlet hole 325 is connected to the through hole 225. The inlet hole 325 is connected to the inlet hole 122 via the through hole 225, the discharge hole 125, and the flow path 113 in this order. In other words, the connection member 2 has the through hole 225 that connects the inlet hole 325 and the discharge hole 125.

[0065] The inlet hole 327 is connected to the through hole 227. The inlet hole 327 is connected to the inlet hole 121 via the through hole 227, the discharge hole 127, and the flow path 111 in this order. In other words, the connection member 2 has the through hole 227 that connects the inlet hole 327 and the discharge hole 127.

[0066] The discharge hole 326 is connected to the through hole 226. The discharge hole 326 is connected to the discharge hole 142 via the through hole 226, the introduction hole 126, and the flow path 114, in this order. In other words, the connection member 2 has the through hole 226 that connects the discharge hole 326 and the introduction hole 126.

[0067] The discharge hole 328 is connected to the through hole 228. The discharge hole 328 is connected to the discharge hole 141 via the through hole 228, the introduction hole 128, and the flow path 112 in this order. attitude In other words, the connection member 2 has a through hole 228 that connects the discharge hole 328 and the introduction hole 128.

[0068] Discharge hole 329 is a hole (also referred to as a fourth hole) connected to through hole 229. Discharge hole 329 is connected to measurement flow path 151 via through hole 229 and introduction hole 129 in this order. In other words, discharge hole 329 as the fourth hole is connected to introduction hole 129 as the first hole. From another perspective, connection member 2 has through hole 229 that connects discharge hole 329 as the fourth hole and introduction hole 129 as the first hole.

[0069] The flow path 35 connects the introduction hole 325 and the input port 341. The flow path 35 is connected to the main flow path 34 at the input port 341. The flow path 35 is connected to the input port 341 in the -Y direction. The flow path 35 extends in the -Y direction near the input port 341.

[0070] The flow channel 37 is connected, toward the +X direction, to a portion of the flow channel 35 extending in the -Y direction near the inlet 341. The introduction hole 327 is connected to the main flow channel 34 via the flow channel 37.

[0071] The flow path 36 connects the discharge hole 326 and the output port 303. The flow path 36 extends in the +X direction.

[0072] The flow path 38 connects the discharge hole 328 and the output port 342. The flow path 38 is connected to the output port 342 in the +Y direction. As the flow path 38 moves from the output port 342 toward the discharge hole 328, it extends in the -Y direction, -X direction, -Y direction, and +X direction in that order.

[0073] The flow channel 39 is connected in the -X direction to a portion of the flow channel 38 extending in the -Y direction near the output port 342. The discharge hole 329 communicates with the output port 342 via the flow channel 39. In other words, the discharge hole 329 is connected to the separation flow channel 30 via the flow channel 39 and a portion of the flow channel 38. Therefore, the discharge hole 329 communicates with the separation flow channel 30. The flow channel 39 extends in the +X direction, the -Y direction, and the -X direction in this order from the flow channel 38 toward the discharge hole 329.

[0074] <2. Example of general function of flow path device> The function of the fluidic device 100 is broadly described below.

[0075] A fluid (also referred to as a fluid to be processed) containing multiple types of particles P100, P200 (see FIG. 11) is introduced into the separation device 3. The separation device 3 separates and discharges separation target particles P100, which are a specific type of particle, from other types of particles (also referred to as other type particles) P200. There may be three or more types of multiple types of particles. In the following, a case will be illustrated in which the separation target particles P100 and the other type particles P200 are each one type of particle.

[0076] The processing device 1 is used for a predetermined process for the separation target particles P100. As an example of this predetermined process, counting (detecting the number of) the separation target particles P100 is adopted. From the viewpoint of this process, each of the separation target particles P100 themselves and the fluid containing the separation target particles P100 is also referred to as a "specimen" hereinafter. Moreover, the fluid containing the separation target particles P100 is also referred to as a "particle-containing fluid" hereinafter.

[0077] The connection member 2 guides the separation target particles P100 (more specifically, a specimen) discharged from the separation device 3 to the processing device 1.

[0078] A pressing fluid is introduced into the flow-path device 100 through an inlet 121. A fluid to be treated is introduced into the flow-path device 100 through an inlet 122. A stirring fluid flows into the flow-path device 100 through an agitation hole 123. A stirring fluid flows out of the flow-path device 100 through the agitation hole 123. A dispersion fluid is introduced into the flow-path device 100 through an inlet 124. The pressing fluid, the agitation fluid, and the dispersion fluid are all fluids, and specific examples and functions of these will be described later.

[0079] When the pressing fluid is introduced into the flow path device 100 from the introduction hole 121, a tube for supplying the pressing fluid can be connected to the flow path device 100 from the outside of the flow path device 100. A tube 101 can be used for connecting this tube.

[0080] When the fluid to be treated is introduced into the flow path device 100 from the introduction hole 122, a pipe for supplying the fluid to be treated can be connected to the flow path device 100 from the outside of the flow path device 100. A tube 102 can be used for connecting this pipe.

[0081] When supplying the agitating fluid to the flow path device 100 through the agitation holes 123 and discharging the agitating fluid from the flow path device 100, a pipe for supplying and discharging the agitating fluid can be connected to the flow path device 100 from the outside of the flow path device 100. A tube 103 can be used to connect this pipe.

[0082] When the dispersion fluid is introduced into the flow path device 100 from the introduction hole 124, a pipe for supplying the dispersion fluid can be connected to the flow path device 100 from the outside of the flow path device 100. A tube 104 can be used for connecting this pipe.

[0083] The fluid to be treated introduced into the flow path device 100 from the inlet hole 122 flows into the main flow path 34 via the flow path 113, the outlet hole 125, the through hole 225, the inlet hole 325, the flow path 35 and the input port 341 in the order listed.

[0084] The pressing fluid introduced into the flow channel device 100 from the introduction hole 121 flows into the main flow channel 34 via the flow channel 111, the discharge hole 127, the through hole 227, the introduction hole 327 and the flow channel 37 in this order.

[0085] In Fig. 11, an arrow Fp1 drawn with a two-dot chain line indicates the direction of the pressing fluid. This direction is along the +X direction. In one embodiment, a liquid is applied as the pressing fluid. In Fig. 11, an arrow Fm1 drawn with a two-dot chain line thicker than the arrow Fp1 indicates the direction of the main flow (also called the mainstream) of the fluid to be treated flowing through the main flow channel 34. This direction is along the -Y direction.

[0086] 11, a state in which the separation target particle P100 and the other type particle P200 are separated from each other when the particle P100 has a larger diameter than the other type particle P200 is shown. Specifically, for example, the width of the branch channel 301 is larger than the diameter of the other type particle P200 and smaller than the diameter of the separation target particle P100. Here, the width of the branch channel 301 is the length of the branch channel 301 along the Y direction.

[0087] At least the width of each of the main channel 34 and the channel 35 is larger than the diameter of both the separation target particles P100 and the other type particles P200. Here, the width of the main channel 34 is the length of the main channel 34 along the X direction. The width of the channel 35 is the length of the channel 35 along the X direction in the vicinity of the main channel 34. The width of the channel 35 is the length of the channel 35 along the Y direction at a position where the channel 35 extends along the -X direction.

[0088] The other-type particles P200 move in the -Y direction in the main flow channel 34, and most of them are introduced into the branch flow channel 301. Most of the other-type particles P200 pass through the branch flow channel 301, and are discharged from the discharge hole 142 via the output port 303, the flow channel 36, the discharge hole 326, the through hole 226, the introduction hole 126, and the flow channel 114 in this order.

[0089] Here, by adjusting the cross-sectional area and length of the branch channel 301 connected to the main channel 34, the other type particles P200 are introduced from the main channel 34 to the branch channel 301 and separated from the separation target particles P100. The other type particles P200 discharged from the discharge hole 142 may or may not be subjected to a specific process.

[0090] The separation target particles P100 move in the -Y direction in the main channel 34 without being introduced into the branch channel 301. Most of the separation target particles P100 pass through the main channel 34, and are introduced into the measurement channel 151 via the output port 342, the channel 39, the discharge hole 329, the through hole 229, and the introduction hole 129 in the order described. The introduction hole 129 as a first hole opens in the first surface 11a. Thus, when the processing device 1 is used with the first surface 11a facing upward and the fourth surface 12b facing downward, a specimen can be easily introduced into the measurement channel 151 from above through the introduction hole 129 as a first hole.

[0091] In one embodiment, a separation device 3 having a third upper surface 3a and a third lower surface 3b is positioned on the first surface 11a of the processing device 1. The separation device 3 has a groove-shaped separation flow path 30 that is not open to the third upper surface 3a, and a discharge hole 329. The discharge hole 329 of the separation device 3 is connected to the introduction hole 129. As a result, for example, when a fluid to be processed is introduced into the separation flow path 30 of the separation device 3, a fluid (specimen) containing the separation target particles P100 separated from the fluid to be processed in the separation flow path 30 can be supplied to the measurement flow path 151 of the processing device 1 through the discharge hole 329 and the introduction hole 129. As a result, for example, separation of the specimen from the fluid to be processed using the separation device 3 and a predetermined processing of the separation target particles P100 using the processing device 1 can be efficiently performed.

[0092] Here, the width of the flow channel 39 is larger than that of the separation target particles P100. The separation target particles P100 flowing out from the output port 342 flow into the flow channel 39 instead of the flow channel 38 due to the same action as when the other type particles P200 are introduced into the branch flow channel 301 in the main flow channel 34.

[0093] A composition of the fluid to be treated, excluding other particles P200 flowing into the branch flow path 301 and separation target particles P100 flowing into the flow path 39, flows into the flow path 38. This composition passes through the flow path 38, and further passes through the discharge hole 328, the through hole 228, the introduction hole 128, and the flow path 112 in this order, and is discharged from the discharge hole 141. Here, the composition discharged from the discharge hole 141 may or may not be subjected to a specific treatment.

[0094] In one embodiment, a flow (also called an introduction flow) that introduces the fluid to be processed into the branch flow channel 301 is used. The introduction flow can contribute to the separation of the separation target particles P100 and the other type particles P200 by the main flow channel 34 and the branch flow channel 301. The introduction flow is shown by an area Ar1 hatched with sand in FIG. 11. The state of the introduction flow shown by the area Ar1 in FIG. 11 is merely an example, and can change depending on the relationship between the flow rate and the flow rate of the fluid to be processed introduced from the flow channel 35 to the main flow channel 34 and the flow rate and the flow rate of the pressing fluid introduced from the flow channel 37 to the flow channel 35. By appropriately adjusting the area Ar1, the separation target particles P100 and the other type particles P200 are efficiently separated from the fluid to be processed. The pressing fluid presses the fluid to be processed toward the branch flow channel 301 in the +X direction from the opposite side to the branch flow channel 301. The pressing fluid can contribute to the generation of the introduction flow.

[0095] 11, the width of the introduction flow in the main flow channel 34 is shown as width W1 near the region where the main flow channel 34 branches into the branch flow channel 301. Here, the width of the introduction flow in the main flow channel 34 is the length of the introduction flow along the X direction. Width W1 can be set, for example, by adjusting the cross-sectional areas and lengths of the main flow channel 34 and the branch flow channel 301, and adjusting the flow rates of the fluid to be treated and the pressing fluid.

[0096] In FIG. 11, the width W1 is illustrated as a width that does not include the center of gravity of the separation target particles P100 in the region Ar1 of the introduced flow, but includes the center of gravity of the other type of particles P200.

[0097] As an example of the fluid to be processed, blood, which is a liquid containing a plurality of kinds of particles, is used. In this case, an example is used in which the separation target particles P100 are white blood cells and the other kinds of particles P200 are red blood cells. As an example of processing the separation target particles P100, measurement of the number of white blood cells is used. As an example of a composition that flows through the flow path 38 and is discharged from the separation device 3 via the discharge hole 328, blood plasma is used. In this case, as an example of the pressing fluid, phosphate buffered saline (PBS), which is a liquid, is used. In order to give the pressing fluid a function according to the intended use of the separation device 3 and the processing device 1, a fluid in which other components are added to PBS may be applied as the pressing fluid. As the other components, for example, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) may be applied as a second component, and bovine serum albumin (BSA) may be applied as a third component.

[0098] The position of the center of gravity of a red blood cell is, for example, about 2 micrometers (μm) to 2.5 μm from the outer edge of the red blood cell. The maximum diameter of a red blood cell is, for example, about 6 μm to 8 μm. The position of the center of gravity of a white blood cell is, for example, about 5 μm to 10 μm from the outer edge of the white blood cell. The maximum diameter of a white blood cell is, for example, about 10 μm to 30 μm. From the viewpoint of separating red blood cells and white blood cells in blood, a value of about 2 μm to 15 μm is adopted for the width W1 of the introduction flow.

[0099] The cross-sectional area of the virtual cross section of the main flow channel 34 along the XZ plane is, for example, 300 square micrometers (μm 2 ) to 1000μm 2 The length of the main flow channel 34 along the Y direction is, for example, about 0.5 mm to 20 mm. The cross-sectional area of a virtual cross section of the branch flow channel 301 along the YZ plane is, for example, about 100 μm 2 to 500 μm 2The length of the branch flow path 301 along the X direction is, for example, about 3 mm to 25 mm. The flow velocity in the main flow path 34 is, for example, about 0.2 meters per second (m / s) to 5 m / s. The flow rate of the fluid in the main flow path 34 is, for example, about 0.1 microliters per second (μl / s) to 5 μl / s.

[0100] The material of the separation device 3 (the material forming the separation device 3) is, for example, a resin such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). PDMS has excellent transferability when performing resin molding using a mold. Transferability is the property of forming fine irregularities in a resin molded product according to the fine pattern of the mold. By producing the separation device 3 by resin molding using PDMS, the manufacture of the flow channel device 100 becomes easy. The material of the connection member 2 (the material forming the connection member 2) is, for example, a resin such as silicone resin.

[0101] The dispersion fluid introduced into the flow channel device 100 from the introduction hole 124 flows into the measurement flow channel 151 via the flow channel 118, the reference flow channel 152, the flow channel 116, and the flow channel 117 in this order.

[0102] The dispersion fluid is a fluid for dispersing the separation target particles P100 introduced from the introduction hole 129 in the measurement flow path 151. The term "dispersion" here is the opposite of the separation target particles P100 adhering to each other and agglomerating. Dispersion of the separation target particles P100 can contribute to performing a predetermined process such as counting, which is given as an example in one embodiment, easily, accurately, or easily and accurately. In one embodiment, a liquid is applied as the dispersion fluid. The same fluid as the pressing fluid can be applied as the dispersion fluid. When the fluid to be processed is blood, PBS is used as an example of the dispersion fluid. A fluid in which at least one of EDTA as a second component and BSA as a third component is added to PBS may be applied as the dispersion fluid.

[0103] The agitating fluid introduced into the flow path device 100 from the agitating holes 123 flows into the agitating flow path 115. The agitating fluid moves back and forth inside the agitating flow path 115 by an external operation. Air is used as an example of the agitating fluid. In this case, the agitating fluid moves back and forth in the agitating flow path 115 by controlling the air pressure in the agitating holes 123.

[0104] The stirring fluid is a fluid for stirring the dispersion fluid containing the separation target particles P100 in order to promote dispersion of the specimen in the dispersion fluid in the region from the stirring flow channel 115 to the measurement flow channel 151 via the flow channels 116 and 117. In other words, it is a fluid for stirring a fluid (particle-containing fluid) containing the separation target particles P100 as a specific type of particle. In one embodiment, a liquid containing a specific type of particle is applied to the particle-containing fluid. The same fluid as the dispersion fluid and the pressing fluid may be applied to the stirring fluid. If the fluid to be treated is blood, PBS is used as an example of the stirring fluid. In this case, the PBS moves back and forth in the stirring flow channel 115 due to the inflow and outflow of the PBS in the stirring hole 123. If the stirring fluid moves back and forth inside the stirring flow channel 115, the stirring of the dispersion fluid and the specimen can be promoted in at least a part of the stirring flow channel 115, the flow channels 116 and 117, and the measurement flow channel 151.

[0105] Here, for example, a specimen containing a specific type of particle is introduced into a region on the first end region E1 side of the measurement flow path 151 through the introduction hole 129. Then, by repeatedly supplying the stirring fluid to the stirring flow path 115 through the stirring hole 123 and discharging the stirring fluid from the stirring flow path 115 through the stirring hole 123, the stirring of the dispersion fluid and the specimen can be promoted. The stirring of the dispersion fluid and the specimen can contribute to the dispersion of the separation target particles P100 using the dispersion fluid, for example. The stirring fluid may be a fluid in which at least one of EDTA as a second component and BSA as a third component is added to PBS.

[0106] Here, for example, it is assumed that the measurement flow path 151 is divided into an area (also referred to as a first area) A1 including a first end area E1 and an area (also referred to as a second area) A2 including a second end area E2 in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151. Here, the first area A1 includes an area in which a fluid (particle-containing fluid) including a particle to be separated P100 as a specific type of particle is introduced through the introduction hole 129 in the measurement flow path 151. The particle-containing fluid includes a dispersion fluid and a specimen. Furthermore, the first area A1 includes an area in which the particle-containing fluid is moved in the measurement flow path 151 and stirred by supplying a fluid (stirring fluid) to the stirring flow path 115 through the stirring hole 123 and discharging the fluid (stirring fluid) from the stirring flow path 115 through the stirring hole 123. In the example of FIG. 2, the boundary between the first area A1 and the second area A2 is indicated by a thin two-dot chain line.

[0107] The specimen and dispersion fluid advance inside measurement flow channel 151 toward flow channel 119. In addition to the specimen and dispersion fluid, an agitation fluid may also advance inside measurement flow channel 151 toward flow channel 119. Measurement flow channel 151 is used for a predetermined process on separation target particles P100.

[0108] After a predetermined process is performed on the separation target particles P100 in the measurement flow path 151, the specimen and the dispersion fluid are discharged from the measurement flow path 151 through the flow path 119 and the discharge hole 143. The discharge hole 143 as the second hole is opened to the fourth surface 12b. With this, when the processing device 1 is used with the first surface 11a facing upward and the fourth surface 12b facing downward, the specimen can be easily discharged from the measurement flow path 151 through the flow path 119 and the discharge hole 143. In addition to the specimen and the dispersion fluid, the stirring fluid may also be discharged from the discharge hole 143 through the measurement flow path 151 through the flow path 119. The separation target particles P100 discharged from the discharge hole 143 may or may not be subjected to a specific process.

[0109] For example, a resin such as cycloolefin polymer (COP) is applied to the material of the processing device 1 (the material forming the processing device 1). If COP is used as the material of the processing device 1, a processing device 1 with low flexibility can be manufactured. In this case, COP is applied to the material of each of the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12. Each of the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 can be manufactured by resin molding or the like.

[0110] Since the separation channel 30 and the five channels 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39 cooperate with the second upper surface 2a to move the fluid, the connecting member 2 and the separation device 3 are configured to be less flexible. For example, when the separation device 3 made of PDMS and the connecting member 2 made of silicone resin are used, both the separation device 3 and the connecting member 2 are highly flexible. If COP is used as the material of the processing device 1, the flexibility of the processing device 1 is reduced, and the function of the separation device 3 is less likely to be impaired. Here, for example, even if it is difficult to directly bond the material of the processing device 1 and the material of the separation device 3, the processing device 1 and the separation device 3 can be easily bonded via the connecting member 2.

[0111] <3. Example of use of flow path device> Here, counting of the separation target particles P100 by optical measurement will be described as an example of a predetermined process for the separation target particles P100. FIG. 12 is a flow chart showing an example of a process flow for counting the separation target particles P100 by optical measurement using the flow channel device 100. In FIG. 12, the process for measuring the number of the separation target particles P100 by optical measurement is abbreviated as "optical measurement". FIGS. 13 to 17 each show a part of the processing device 1 at an intermediate stage of the process flow. In FIGS. 13 to 17, in order to avoid cluttering the drawings, even if the shape is hidden by the first upper surface 1a, the shape on the +Z direction side of the first lower surface 1b is shown by a solid line. In FIGS. 13 to 17, the boundary between the first region A1 and the second region A2 is shown by a thin two-dot chain line. In the description using FIGS. 13 to 17, the "specimen" refers to a fluid containing the separation target particles P100.

[0112] In step S1, as a process prior to introducing the fluid to be treated into the flow path device 100, the fluid is introduced from the introduction hole 121. The introduction of this fluid (also called pretreatment fluid) can contribute to washing the flow path device 100 and smooth movement of the fluid to be treated and the specimen in the separation device 3. This step S1 may be omitted.

[0113] The pretreatment fluid is introduced into the introduction hole 327 in the separation device 3. For example, the pretreatment fluid is also used as the pressing fluid, and reaches the flow path 37 from the introduction hole 121 via the flow path 111, the discharge hole 127, the through hole 227, and the introduction hole 327 in this order.

[0114] The pretreatment fluid flows from the flow path 37 through the flow path 35 to at least the inlet hole 325. Here, the pretreatment fluid passes through the through hole 225, the discharge hole 125, and the flow path 113 in this order, and is discharged from the inlet hole 122. The flow of the pretreatment fluid in the flow path 35 and the inlet hole 325, and the flow of the pretreatment fluid in the through hole 225, the discharge hole 125, the flow path 113, and the inlet hole 122 are opposite to the flow of the fluid to be treated.

[0115] The pretreatment fluid flows from the flow path 37 through the main flow path 34 and the flow path 38 to at least the discharge hole 328. Here, the pretreatment fluid passes through the through hole 228, the introduction hole 128, and the flow path 112 in this order, and is discharged from the discharge hole 141.

[0116] The pretreatment fluid passes from the flow path 37 through the main flow path 34, the branch flow path 301, and the flow path 36 in this order, and reaches at least the discharge hole 326. Here, the pretreatment fluid passes through the through hole 226, the introduction hole 126, and the flow path 114 in this order, and is discharged from the discharge hole 142.

[0117] The pretreatment fluid travels from the flow path 37 through the main flow path 34 and the flow path 39 to at least the discharge hole 329. Here, the pretreatment fluid travels through the through hole 229 and the introduction hole 129 to the measurement flow path 151. The pretreatment fluid that has reached the measurement flow path 151 further travels through the flow path 119 to be discharged from the discharge hole 143.

[0118] In step S2, after the process of step S1 is performed, the dispersion fluid is introduced from the introduction hole 124 through the flow path 118, the reference flow path 152, the flow path 116, and the flow path 117 in the order described above, to a portion before the introduction hole 129. Here, the "portion before" refers to a portion of the measurement flow path 151 that is closer to the flow path 117 than the introduction hole 129 and that is closer to the measurement flow path 151 than the portion of the flow path 116 to which the stirring flow path 115 is connected. When the dispersion fluid is introduced to a portion before the introduction hole 129, the process of step S2 ends. Since the dispersion fluid is introduced again later, the introduction of the dispersion fluid in the process of step S2 is tentatively referred to as the "first introduction."

[0119] 13 illustrates a state in which the dispersion fluid fills the introduction hole 124, the flow path 118, the reference flow path 152, the flow path 116, and the flow path 117. By executing step S2, the dispersion fluid also flows into the stirring flow path 115 via the flow path 116. In FIG. 13, the region in which the dispersion fluid exists is indicated by hatching using diagonal lines slanting upward to the right.

[0120] If the pretreatment fluid remains in the introduction hole 129 and the measurement flow path 151 before the execution of step S2, the pretreatment fluid in the measurement flow path 151 is pushed by the dispersion fluid by the processing of step S2 and is discharged from the discharge hole 143 via the flow path 119. The area where the pretreatment fluid exists is omitted in the illustration.

[0121] In step S3, after the process of step S2 is completed, the fluid to be treated is introduced into the flow path device 100 through the introduction hole 122, and the pressing fluid is introduced through the introduction hole 121. By executing the process of step S3, a specimen is obtained as shown in Fig. 11, and the specimen reaches the measurement flow path 151 via the flow path 39, the discharge hole 329, the through-hole 229, and the introduction hole 129 in this order.

[0122] Step S4 in FIG. 12 shows a process of introducing a specimen from the introduction hole 129 into the measurement flow channel 151. However, this process may be performed incidentally by executing the process of step S3. Such incidental nature of step S4 is shown by the block of step S4 being drawn with a dashed line. When the introduction of the specimen from the introduction hole 129 into the measurement flow channel 151 is completed, the process of step S4 is completed. In the process of step S4, a fluid is introduced into the measurement flow channel 151. In FIG. 14, the dispersion fluid and the specimen are not distinguished, and the region where the fluid exists is shown by hatching using diagonal lines slanting upwards to the right. In FIG. 15 to FIG. 17, unless otherwise specified, the dispersion fluid and the specimen are not distinguished, and the region where the fluid exists is shown by hatching using diagonal lines slanting upwards to the right. In the example of FIG. 14, most of the fluid existing in the measurement flow channel 151 is the specimen introduced in step S4.

[0123] Immediately after the process of step S4 is completed, the separation target particles P100 (not shown in FIG. 13 and subsequent figures) are small in spread in the measurement flow path 151. The separation target particles P100 aggregate in the measurement flow path 151 and the introduction hole 129 at the position where they are connected to the introduction hole 129.

[0124] In step S5, after the processing of step S4 is completed, dispersion fluid is additionally introduced into the flow path device 100. The introduction of dispersion fluid in the processing of step S5 is tentatively referred to as "second introduction." The dispersion fluid is introduced into the flow path 117 from the introduction hole 124 via the flow path 118, the reference flow path 152, and the flow path 116 in this order. The dispersion fluid introduced in the first introduction is pushed out into the measurement flow path 151 by the dispersion fluid introduced in the second introduction. When the introduction of the dispersion fluid is completed, the processing of step S5 is completed.

[0125] Here, as a result of the second introduction, as shown in FIG. 15, the area occupied by the specimen and dispersion fluid in measurement flow channel 151 becomes larger than in the state shown in FIG.

[0126] Immediately after the process of step S5 is completed, the separation target particles P100 spread out in the measurement flow path 151 compared to immediately after the process of step S4 is completed. However, the separation target particles P100 are aggregated in the measurement flow path 151 and the introduction hole 129 at the position connected to the introduction hole 129.

[0127] After the process of step S5 is completed, the process of step S6 and the process of step S7 are repeatedly executed. For example, a pair of processes consisting of the process of step S6 and the process of step S7 is executed a predetermined number of times. The predetermined number of times is 5 to 10 times.

[0128] In step S6, the stirring fluid is moved in the stirring flow passage 115 toward the stirring holes 123. For example, when air is used as the stirring fluid, the stirring flow passage 115 is evacuated by controlling the air pressure in the stirring holes 123. This control of the air pressure can be achieved by using a well-known pump or the like.

[0129] When the mixing flow channel 115 is evacuated, the specimen and dispersion fluid present in the measurement flow channel 151 are drawn into the mixing flow channel 115. From the viewpoint of the operation of the specimen and dispersion fluid, the process of step S6 is tentatively referred to as "drawing in."

[0130] 16, the process of step S6 ends in a state where neither the specimen nor the dispersion fluid has been drawn into the stirring hole 123. By executing step S6, both the specimen and the dispersion fluid are almost entirely drawn from the measurement flow path 151 into the stirring flow path 115. This drawing causes the separation target particles P100 to move to region R1. Region R1 is located relatively close to the stirring hole 123 among the regions where the specimen or the dispersion fluid is present.

[0131] In step S7, the agitating fluid is moved in the agitating channel 115 toward the channel 119. Alternatively, the process of step S7 moves the agitating fluid in the agitating channel 115 toward the measurement channel 151.

[0132] When the stirring fluid moves in the stirring channel 115 toward the channel 119, most of the specimen and dispersion fluid present in the stirring channel 115 are pushed out through part of the channel 116 and channel 117 into the measurement channel 151. From the viewpoint of the operation of the specimen and dispersion fluid, the process of step S7 is tentatively referred to as "pushing out." Here, most of the specimen and dispersion fluid proceed inside the measurement channel 151 toward the channel 119.

[0133] 17, the process of step S7 ends in a state where neither the specimen nor the dispersion fluid has been pushed out to the second region A2 of the measurement flow path 151. By executing step S7, both the specimen and the dispersion fluid are almost all pushed out from the mixing flow path 115 into the measurement flow path 151.

[0134] After the process of step S7 is completed, a determination is made in step S8 as to whether or not steps S6 and S7 have been repeated a predetermined number of times. If the result of this determination is negative, the process proceeds to a "NO" path in FIG. 12, and the process of steps S6 and S7 is performed again.

[0135] By repeatedly executing the process of step S6 and the process of step S7, the stirring fluid moves back and forth inside the stirring flow channel 115. This movement contributes to stirring the dispersion fluid and the specimen. This stirring can contribute to dispersion of the separation target particles P100 using the dispersion fluid. Dispersion of the separation target particles P100 can contribute to performing a predetermined process on the separation target particles P100 accurately or easily.

[0136] If the result of the determination in step S8 is positive, the process proceeds to the "YES" path in FIG. 12, and the process of step S9 is executed. The process of step S9 corresponds to the predetermined process described above. As an example of the predetermined process, counting is performed by optical measurement of the separation target particles P100. For example, counting by optical measurement is performed using both the measurement flow path 151 and the reference flow path 152.

[0137] In the process of step S9, for example, the number of separation target particles P100 in the measurement flow path 151 is measured by a known optical measurement method. In this case, in consideration of use in counting the separation target particles P100, the processing device 1 has translucency to allow light to pass through the measurement flow path 151. For example, light is incident from the first lower surface 1b toward the first upper surface 1a, and the light that passes through the measurement flow path 151 and transmits through the processing device 1 is measured on the first upper surface 1a side to measure the number of separation target particles P100. Alternatively, a non-reflective member (not shown) that is a plate-like or sheet-like member that can block external light that enters the measurement flow path 151 on the upper surface and reduce reflection of light that has passed through the measurement flow path 151 on the lower surface may be arranged on the first upper surface 1a at a portion located above the measurement flow path 151. In this case, light may be incident from the first lower surface 1b toward the first upper surface 1a, reflected by the second surface 11b corresponding to the upper surface (ceiling surface) of the measurement flow path 151, travel back and forth through the measurement flow path 151, and pass through the processing device 1, and the light may be measured on the first lower surface 1b side to count the number of separation target particles P100. If COP is used as the material of the processing device 1, the light transmittance of the processing device 1 can be realized. The hatching of the processing device 1 in Figs. 1, 3 to 5, and 7 to 9 indicates light transmittance.

[0138] In the process of step S9, for example, the same optical measurement as that in the measurement flow path 151 is performed in the reference flow path 152. The result of this measurement may be used as a reference value for counting in the measurement flow path 151. The use of this reference value can contribute to reducing counting errors.

[0139] After the processing of step S9 is completed, for example, a stirring fluid is introduced into the stirring flow path 115 from the stirring hole 123, and the specimen and dispersion fluid are discharged from the stirring flow path 115, flow path 116, flow path 117, measurement flow path 151 and flow path 119 via the discharge hole 143.

[0140] <4. Detailed configuration example of processing device> Fig. 18 shows an example of a virtual cross section of the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 before bonding, for a portion corresponding to the cross section of Fig. 3. Fig. 19 shows an example of a portion of the virtual cross section of the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 before bonding. In Figs. 18 and 19, the direction in which the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are stacked is depicted by a two-dot chain arrow. Fig. 20 shows an example of a portion of the virtual cross section of the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 after bonding.

[0141] As shown in FIG. 18, before the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are joined, the second plate-shaped member 12 has a plurality of grooves 12t on the third surface 12a. The plurality of grooves 12t includes, for example, three grooves 115t, 151t, and 152t. The plurality of grooves 12t are groove-shaped portions that constitute a plurality of flow paths 1f together with the second surface 11b of the first plate-shaped member 11 in the state of the processing device 1 in which the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are joined. More specifically, in the state of the processing device 1, the plurality of grooves 12t and the second surface 11b of the first plate-shaped member 11 constitute the stirring flow path 115, the eight flow paths 111, 112, 113, 114, 116, 117, 118, and 119, the measurement flow path 151, and the reference flow path 152. For example, by joining the first plate-like member 11 and the second plate-like member 12, the groove 115t and the second surface 11b form the stirring flow path 115, the groove 151t and the second surface 11b form the measurement flow path 151, and the groove 152t and the second surface 11b form the reference flow path 152. The width of the groove 151t is, for example, about 3 mm to 5 mm. Here, the width of the groove 151t is the length of the groove 151t along the X direction.

[0142] As shown in FIG. 19, before the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are joined, the third surface 12a of the second plate-shaped member 12 has a plurality of convex portions 12p. More specifically, the third surface 12a of the second plate-shaped member 12 has, for each of the plurality of groove portions 12t, convex portions 12p located along the groove portions 12t on both sides of the groove portions 12t in a direction (also called a width direction) along the third surface 12a perpendicular to the longitudinal direction in which the groove portions 12t extend. The third surface 12a has a flat portion 12f between the groove portions 12t and the convex portions 12p for each of the plurality of groove portions 12t. In FIG. 18, the reference numerals of the convex portions 12p and the flat portions 12f are appropriately omitted in order to avoid complication of the illustration.

[0143] 19, the third surface 12a of the second plate-like member 12 has convex portions 12p located along the groove portion 151t on both sides of the groove portion 151t in a direction (width direction) along the third surface 12a perpendicular to the longitudinal direction in which the groove portion 151t extends. Here, the longitudinal direction of the groove portion 151t is the -Y direction, and the width direction of the groove portion 151t is the +X direction. The third surface 12a has flat portions 12f between the groove portion 151t and the convex portions 12p on both sides of the groove portion 151t in the width direction of the groove portion 151t.

[0144] Each of the multiple convex portions 12p has a base portion 12p1 and a protruding portion 12p2. The base portion 12p1 constitutes a portion of the convex portion 12p on the fourth surface 12b side. The base portion 12p1 is located along the longitudinal direction of the groove portion 12t, and is a portion whose imaginary cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the groove portion 12t is rectangular. The protruding portion 12p2 is located on the base portion 12p1 along the longitudinal direction of the groove portion 12t. The protruding portion 12p2 constitutes the tip portion of the convex portion 12p. The width of the base portion 12p1 is, for example, about 0.7 mm. The width of the base portion 12p1 is the length of the base portion 12p1 in the direction along the width direction of the groove portion 12t. The height of the base portion 12p1 is, for example, about 0.3 mm. The height of the base portion 12p1 is the length of the base portion 12p1 in the direction from the fourth surface 12b to the third surface 12a. The height of the protrusion portion 12p2 is, for example, about 0.2 mm. The height of the protrusion portion 12p2 is the length of the protrusion portion 12p2 in the direction from the fourth surface 12b to the third surface 12a. The width of the protrusion portion 12p2 is, for example, about 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm. The width of the protrusion portion 12p2 is the length of the protrusion portion 12p2 in the direction along the width direction of the groove portion 12t. The width of the protrusion portion 12p2 is, for example, largest on the base portion 12p1 side and becomes smaller as it moves away from the base portion 12p1. The width of the flat portion 12f is, for example, about 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm. The width of the flat portion 12f is the length of the flat portion 12f in the direction along the width direction of the groove portion 12t. The width of the flat portion 12f is also the distance between the groove portion 12t and the protrusion portion 12p.

[0145] Before the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are joined, the second surface 11b of the first plate-shaped member 11 has a plurality of recesses 11r at positions where the plurality of protrusions 12p of the third surface 12a come into contact when the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are laminated to form the processing device 1. In FIG. 18, the reference numerals of the recesses 11r are omitted as appropriate to avoid complication of the illustration. The plurality of recesses 11r are arranged at positions where the plurality of protrusions 12p enter when the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are laminated. In other words, the plurality of recesses 11r and the plurality of protrusions 12p are located in a positional relationship where one protrusion 12p enters one recess 11r. The width of the recess 11r is about 1 mm. The width of the recess 11r is the length of the recess 11r in a direction along the second surface 11b perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the recess 11r.

[0146] Here, when the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are joined, the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are laminated to make the plurality of convex portions 12p fit into the plurality of concave portions 11r, and the plurality of convex portions 12p and the plurality of concave portions 11r are joined by ultrasonic welding or the like. Here, the protruding portion 12p2 of the convex portion 12p melts to fill the gap between the concave portion 11r and the convex portion 12p, and then solidifies, thereby joining the concave portion 11r and the convex portion 12p. As a result, as shown in FIG. 20, a processing device 1 can be formed in which a part of the third surface 12a of the second plate-shaped member 12 is joined to the second surface 11b of the first plate-shaped member 11.

[0147] 20, the processing device 1 has a joint portion 1w and a non-joint portion 1n. The processing device 1 has a joint portion 1w and a non-joint portion 1n for each of a plurality of flow paths 1f.

[0148] In the processing device 1, for each of the multiple flow paths 1f, there is a joint 1w located along the flow path 1f on both sides in a direction (width direction) along the second surface 11b perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the flow path 1f. From another perspective, when the processing device 1 is viewed in a plan view in the -Z direction, for each of the multiple flow paths 1f, the joint 1w is located in a state of almost or completely surrounding the flow path 1f. At the joint 1w, the recess 11r of the second surface 11b and the protrusion 12p of the third surface 12a are joined. In other words, when the second surface 11b includes the recess 11r and the third surface 12a includes the protrusion 12p, the joint 1w is a portion where the protrusion 12p and the recess 11r are joined together.

[0149] In the processing device 1, for each of the multiple flow paths 1f, a convex portion 12p and a convex portion 12b are provided on both sides in a direction (width direction) along the second surface 11b perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the flow path 1f. Channel 1F From another point of view, when the processing device 1 is viewed in a plan view in the -Z direction, for each of the multiple flow paths 1f, the non-bonded portion 1n is located between the flow path 1f and the bonded portion 1w so as to almost or completely surround the flow path 1f. In the non-bonded portion 1n, the second surface 11b and the third surface 12a are not bonded to each other, and the second surface 11b and the third surface 12a are in contact with each other or in close proximity to each other.

[0150] Fig. 21 is a plan view showing an example of the measurement flow path 151 and its periphery in the processing device 1. In Fig. 21, for convenience of illustration, the outer edges of the measurement flow path 151, the discharge hole 143, the joint portion 1w, and the non-joint portion 1n are drawn with solid lines, the joint portion 1w is hatched with diagonal lines slanting upward to the right, and the non-joint portion 1n is hatched with sand. In Fig. 21, the boundary between the first region A1 and the second region A2 is shown with a thin two-dot chain line.

[0151] As shown in FIG. 21, the processing device 1 has a joint portion 1w and a non-joint portion 1n, each of which is located along a measurement flow path 151.

[0152] The joint 1w is located along the measurement flow path 151 on both sides of the measurement flow path 151 in the width direction along the second surface 11b perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151. From another perspective, when the processing device 1 is viewed in a plan view in the -Z direction, the joint 1w is located in a state surrounding the measurement flow path 151 except for the portion to which the other flow paths 117, 119 are connected. At the joint 1w, the recess 11r of the second surface 11b and the protrusion 12p of the third surface 12a are joined.

[0153] The non-bonded portion 1n is located between the convex portion 12p and the measurement flow path 151 along the measurement flow path 151 on both sides of the measurement flow path 151 in the width direction along the second surface 11b perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151. From another perspective, when the processing device 1 is viewed in a plan view in the -Z direction, the non-bonded portion 1n is located between the measurement flow path 151 and the bonded portion 1w in a state in which it surrounds the measurement flow path 151 except for the portion to which the other flow paths 117 and 119 are connected. In the non-bonded portion 1n, the second surface 11b and the third surface 12a are not bonded, and the second surface 11b and the third surface 12a are in contact with or close to each other. Therefore, in the non-bonded portion 1n, a gap exists between the second surface 11b and the flat portion 12f.

[0154] FIG. 22 shows an example of a virtual cross section of the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 after joining.

[0155] As shown in FIG. 21 and FIG. 22, the processing device 1 has a pair of dividing portions 1d. The pair of dividing portions 1d includes a first dividing portion 1d1 and a second dividing portion 1d2. The first dividing portion 1d1 and the second dividing portion 1d2 are positioned in a state in which the measurement flow path 151 is sandwiched in the width direction of the measurement flow path 151. In FIG. 22, the dividing portion 1d is hatched using thick diagonal lines slanting upward to the right. The pair of dividing portions 1d divide the non-joining portion 1n positioned along the measurement flow path 151 on both sides of the measurement flow path 151 in the width direction of the measurement flow path 151 in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151. In the processing device 1, a pair of dividing portions 1d fills a gap between a partial region (also referred to as a partial region) Ap1 of the measurement flow channel 151 and the convex portion 12p on both sides of the measurement flow channel 151 in the width direction of the measurement flow channel 151. The partial region Ap1 is located between a first end region E1 and a second end region E2 of the measurement flow channel 151 in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow channel 151.

[0156] More specifically, on the +X direction side, which is a first direction as the width direction of the measurement flow channel 151, the first dividing portion 1d1 divides the non-bonded portion 1n in the first longitudinal direction. On the -X direction side, which is a second direction opposite to the first direction as the width direction of the measurement flow channel 151, the second dividing portion 1d2 divides the non-bonded portion 1n in the first longitudinal direction. On the +X direction side, which is the first direction as the width direction of the measurement flow channel 151, the first dividing portion 1d1 fills the gap between the partial region Ap1 of the measurement flow channel 151 and the convex portion 12p. On the -X direction side, which is the second direction as the width direction of the measurement flow channel 151, the second dividing portion 1d2 fills the gap between the partial region Ap1 of the measurement flow channel 151 and the convex portion 12p.

[0157] From another point of view, the pair of dividing portions 1d are in a state of filling the gap between the second surface 11b and the flat portion 12f on both sides of the width direction of the measurement flow channel 151 in the partial region Ap1 of the measurement flow channel 151. More specifically, the first dividing portion 1d1 is in a state of filling the gap between the second surface 11b and the flat portion 12f on the side of the +X direction which is the first direction in the width direction of the measurement flow channel 151 in the partial region Ap1 of the measurement flow channel 151. The second dividing portion 1d2 is in a state of filling the gap between the second surface 11b and the flat portion 12f on the side of the -X direction which is the second direction in the width direction of the measurement flow channel 151 in the partial region Ap1 of the measurement flow channel 151. The dividing portion 1d may have a portion that protrudes slightly into the measurement flow channel 151.

[0158] Here, for example, a case is assumed in which the specimen and dispersion fluid are introduced from the introduction hole 129 side to between a first end region E1 on the introduction hole 129 side and a second end region E2 on the discharge hole 143 side of the measurement flow path 151. In this case, if the dispersion fluid in which the specimen is dispersed is introduced only to the introduction hole 129 side of the pair of dividing portions 1d of the measurement flow path 151, the pair of dividing portions 1d can stop the progress of the liquid due to capillary action in the non-bonding portions 1n toward the discharge hole 143. As a result, for example, it becomes difficult for the liquid to reach the discharge hole 143.

[0159] Also, for example, as described above, it is assumed that the measurement flow path 151 is divided into a first region A1 including a first end region E1 and a second region A2 including a second end region E2 in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151. In this case, a configuration may be adopted in which a pair of dividing portions 1d are positioned between a part of the second region A2 in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151 and the convex portion 12p on both sides of the measurement flow path 151 in the width direction of the measurement flow path 151. More specifically, on the +X direction side, which is the first direction as the width direction of the measurement flow path 151, the first dividing portion 1d1 is positioned between a part of the second region A2 in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151 and the convex portion 12p. On the −X direction side, which is the second direction as the width direction of the measurement flow channel 151, the second dividing portion 1d2 is located between a part of the second region A2 in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow channel 151 and the convex portion 12p. Here, if the dispersion fluid in which the specimen is dispersed is introduced only up to the first region A1 on the introduction hole 129 side of the pair of dividing portions 1d in the measurement flow channel 151, the pair of dividing portions 1d can stop the progress of the liquid in the non-bonding portion 1n due to capillary action toward the discharge hole 143. As a result, for example, it becomes difficult for the liquid to reach the discharge hole 143.

[0160] Fig. 23 shows an example of a virtual cross section of the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 before bonding, for a portion corresponding to the cross section of Fig. 22. In Fig. 23, the direction in which the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are stacked is depicted by a two-dot chain arrow. Fig. 24 shows a schematic diagram of an example of a portion of the second plate-shaped member 12 before bonding. Fig. 25 shows a schematic diagram of an example of a virtual cross section of the second plate-shaped member 12.

[0161] As shown in Fig. 23 to Fig. 25, on the third surface 12a of the second plate-like member 12 before being joined to the first plate-like member 11, a pair of protrusions 12c are arranged on a part of the flat portion 12f on both sides of the groove portion 151t in the width direction of the groove portion 151t. More specifically, the pair of protrusions 12c includes a first protrusion 12c1 and a second protrusion 12c2. The first protrusion 12c1 is arranged on a part of the flat portion 12f on the +X direction side, which is the first direction in the width direction of the groove portion 151t. The second protrusion 12c2 is arranged on a part of the flat portion 12f on the -X direction side, which is the second direction in the width direction of the groove portion 151t.

[0162] Each protrusion 12c is located in a state of extending from the end of the flat portion 12f on the convex portion 12p side to the end of the groove portion 151t side, for example. The length of the protrusion 12c is approximately the same as the width of the flat portion 12f. The length of the protrusion 12c is approximately 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm. The length of the protrusion 12c is the length of the protrusion 12c in a direction along the width direction of the groove portion 151t. The height of the protrusion 12c is set lower than the height of the base portion 12p1 of the protrusion 12p. The height of the protrusion 12c is approximately 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm, for example. The height of the protrusion 12c is the length of the protrusion 12c in a direction from the fourth surface 12b toward the third surface 12a. The width of the protrusion 12c is approximately 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm, for example. The width of the protrusion 12c is the length of the protrusion 12c in a direction along the longitudinal direction of the groove portion 151t. The width of the protruding portion 12c is, for example, largest on the fourth surface 12b side and becomes smaller as it moves away from the fourth surface 12b. Each of the pair of protruding portions 12c may be formed as a part of the second plate-shaped member 12 when the second plate-shaped member 12 is manufactured by resin molding or the like, or may be formed by adhering a small piece onto the flat portion 12f of the second plate-shaped member 12. The material of the small piece may be, for example, the same material as the material of the second plate-shaped member 12.

[0163] In the case where the second plate-like member 12 has a pair of protruding portions 12c, when the plurality of convex portions 12p are joined to the plurality of concave portions 11r by ultrasonic welding or the like, the pair of protruding portions 12c are joined to the second surface 11b. Here, the tips of the pair of protruding portions 12c melt and fill the gap between the second surface 11b and the third surface 12a in a part of the flat portion 12f in the longitudinal direction of the groove portion 151t, and then solidify to form a pair of dividing portions 1d. In this case, the second surface 11b and the third surface 12a are joined by each of the pair of dividing portions 1d.

[0164] <4-1. Summary of an embodiment> The processing device 1 according to one embodiment has a pair of dividing portions 1d that fill the gap between the partial region Ap1 located between the first end region E1 and the second end region E2 of the measurement flow channel 151 and the convex portion 12p on both sides of the measurement flow channel 151 in the width direction of the measurement flow channel 151, and divide the non-bonding portion 1n in the longitudinal direction of the measurement flow channel 151. As a result, if the dispersion fluid in which the specimen is dispersed is introduced only to the introduction hole 129 side of the measurement flow channel 151 from the pair of dividing portions 1d, the pair of dividing portions 1d can stop the progress of the liquid in the non-bonding portion 1n due to the capillary phenomenon toward the discharge hole 143. As a result, for example, in the processing device 1, when the liquid is introduced from the introduction hole 129 side of the internal measurement flow channel 151 to between the first end region E1 to which the introduction hole 129 is connected and the second end region E2 to which the discharge hole 143 is connected, it is possible to make it difficult for the liquid to reach the discharge hole 143.

[0165] <5. Other embodiments> The present disclosure is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and various modifications and improvements are possible without departing from the gist of the present disclosure.

[0166] In the above embodiment, for example, as shown in FIG. 26, the convex portion 11p of the second surface 11b and the concave portion 12r of the third surface 12a may be joined at the joint 1w. Here, the concave portion 11r and the convex portion 12p in the above embodiment may be switched up and down, so that the convex portion 11p having a shape obtained by inverting the convex portion 12p up and down may exist on the second surface 11b, and the concave portion 12r having a shape obtained by inverting the concave portion 11r up and down may exist on the third surface 12a. FIG. 26 shows an example of a virtual cross section of the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 after joining. In FIG. 26, the dividing portion 1d is hatched with thick diagonal lines slanting upward to the right. In this case, the joint portion 1w is located along the measurement flow path 151 on both sides of the measurement flow path 151 in the width direction of the measurement flow path 151, and is a portion where the convex portion 11p of the second surface 11b and the concave portion 12r of the third surface 12a are joined. In other words, when the second surface 11b includes the convex portion 11p and the third surface 12a includes the concave portion 12r, the joint portion 1w is a portion where the convex portion 11p and the concave portion 12r are joined. The non-joined portion 1n is a portion located along the measurement flow path 151 between the convex portion 11p and the measurement flow path 151 on both sides of the measurement flow path 151 in the width direction of the measurement flow path 151. A pair of dividing portions 1d fills the gap between the partial region Ap1 of the measurement flow path 151 and the convex portion 11p on both sides of the measurement flow path 151 in the width direction of the measurement flow path 151, and divides the non-joining portion 1n in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151. More specifically, on the +X direction side, which is the first direction as the width direction of the measurement flow path 151, a first dividing portion 1d1 fills the gap between the partial region Ap1 of the measurement flow path 151 and the convex portion 12p, and divides the non-joining portion 1n in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151. On the -X direction side, which is the second direction as the width direction of the measurement flow path 151, a second dividing portion 1d2 fills the gap between the partial region Ap1 of the measurement flow path 151 and the convex portion 12p, and divides the non-joining portion 1n in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151.

[0167] FIG. 27 shows an example of a virtual cross section of the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 before bonding, for a portion corresponding to the cross section of FIG. 26. As shown in FIG. 27, before the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are bonded, the third surface 12a of the second plate-shaped member 12 has a plurality of recesses 12r instead of a plurality of protrusions 12p. More specifically, the third surface 12a of the second plate-shaped member 12 has, for each of a plurality of grooves 12t, recesses 12r located along the grooves 12t on both sides of the grooves 12t in a direction (also referred to as the width direction) along the third surface 12a perpendicular to the longitudinal direction in which the grooves 12t extend. 2 r. The third surface 12a has flat portions 12f between the grooves 12t and the recesses 12r for each of the plurality of grooves 12t. In the example of FIG. 27, the third surface 12a of the second plate-like member 12 has recesses 12r located along the grooves 151t on both sides of the grooves 151t in a direction (width direction) along the third surface 12a perpendicular to the longitudinal direction in which the grooves 151t extend. Here, the longitudinal direction of the grooves 151t is the -Y direction, and the width direction of the grooves 151t is the +X direction. The third surface 12a has flat portions 12f between the grooves 151t and the recesses 12r on both sides of the grooves 151t in the width direction of the grooves 151t.

[0168] Before the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are joined, the second surface 11b of the first plate-shaped member 11 has a plurality of convex portions 11p at positions where the plurality of concave portions 12r of the third surface 12a come into contact when the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are laminated to form the processing device 1. The plurality of convex portions 11p are present at positions where one convex portion 11p fits into each of the plurality of concave portions 12r when the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12 are laminated. Each of the plurality of convex portions 11p has a base portion 11p1 and a protruding portion 11p2. The base portion 11p1 constitutes a portion of the convex portion 11p on the first surface 11a side. The base portion 11p1 is located along the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 11p, and has a rectangular virtual cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the convex portion 11p. The protruding portion 11p2 is located on the base portion 11p1 along the longitudinal direction of the protruding portion 11p. The protruding portion 11p2 constitutes the tip portion of the protruding portion 11p.

[0169] In addition, on the third surface 12a of the second plate-like member 12 before being joined to the first plate-like member 11, a pair of protrusions 12c are arranged on a part of the flat portion 12f on both sides of the groove portion 151t in the width direction of the groove portion 151t. More specifically, the pair of protrusions 12c includes a first protrusion 12c1 and a second protrusion 12c2. The first protrusion 12c1 is arranged on a part of the flat portion 12f on the side of the +X direction, which is the first direction in the width direction of the groove portion 151t. The second protrusion 12c2 is arranged on a part of the flat portion 12f on the side of the -X direction, which is the second direction in the width direction of the groove portion 151t. Each protrusion 12c is located in a state in which it extends from the end of the flat portion 12f on the recess 12r side to the end of the groove portion 151t side, for example. The length of the protrusion 12c is approximately the same as the width of the flat portion 12f. The length of the protruding portion 12c is the length of the protruding portion 12c in the direction along the width direction of the groove portion 151t. The height of the protruding portion 12c is set to be lower than the height of the base portion 11p1 of the convex portion 11p. The height of the protruding portion 12c is the length of the protruding portion 12c in the direction from the fourth surface 12b toward the third surface 12a. The width of the protruding portion 12c is, for example, largest on the fourth surface 12b side and becomes smaller as it moves away from the fourth surface 12b. The protruding portion 12c may be formed as a part of the second plate-like member 12 when the second plate-like member 12 is manufactured by resin molding or the like, or may be formed by adhering a small piece onto the flat portion 12f of the second plate-like member 12. For example, the same material as the material of the second plate-like member 12 is applied to the material of the small piece.

[0170] Here, the first plate-like member 11 and the second plate-like member 12 are laminated to make the plurality of convex portions 11p enter the plurality of concave portions 12r, and the plurality of convex portions 11p and the plurality of concave portions 12r are joined by ultrasonic welding or the like. Here, the protruding portion 11p2 of the plurality of convex portions 11p melts to fill the gap between the concave portion 12r and the convex portion 11p, and then solidifies, thereby joining the concave portion 12r and the convex portion 11p. At this time, the pair of protruding portions 12c are joined to the second surface 11b. Here, the tips of the pair of protruding portions 12c melt, and in a part of the flat portion 12f in the longitudinal direction of the groove portion 151t, the gap between the second surface 11b and the third surface 12a is filled, and then solidified, thereby forming a pair of dividing portions 1d. In this case, the second surface 11b and the third surface 12a are also joined by each of the pair of dividing portions 1d. This allows the formation of a processing device 1 in which a portion of the third surface 12a of the second plate-shaped member 12 is joined to the second surface 11b of the first plate-shaped member 11, as shown in Figure 26, and in which a pair of separating portions 1d can stop the progress of liquid due to capillary action in the non-jointed portion 1n toward the drain hole 143.

[0171] In this embodiment, the pair of protrusions 12c forming the pair of dividing portions 1d is disposed between the recess 12r and the groove 12t on the third surface 12a of the second plate-like member 12, but the present invention is not limited to this. For example, instead of the pair of protrusions 12c, a pair of protrusions may be disposed beside the convex portion 11p on the second surface 11b of the first plate-like member 11 in the same or similar form as the pair of protrusions 12c in the above embodiment to form the pair of dividing portions 1d. This also makes it possible to form a processing device 1 similar to that shown in FIG. 26.

[0172] In the above embodiment, an example was shown in which a pair of protrusions 12c was arranged beside the convex portion 12p on the third surface 12a of the second plate-like member 12, but instead of the pair of protrusions 12c, a pair of protrusions may be arranged beside the concave portion 11r on the second surface 11b of the first plate-like member 11 to form a pair of dividing portions 1d. This also makes it possible to form a processing device 1 that is the same as or similar to that shown in FIG.

[0173] In the above embodiment, for example, the first separating portion 1d1 and the second separating portion 1d2 may separate the non-joined portion 1n at the same position in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151, or may separate the non-joined portion 1n at mutually different positions in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151.

[0174] In the above embodiment, for example, on both sides of the measurement flow path 151 in the width direction of the measurement flow path 151, there may be two or more pairs of separating portions 1d that separate the non-joining portion 1n in the first longitudinal direction at two or more mutually different positions in the longitudinal direction (first longitudinal direction) of the measurement flow path 151.

[0175] In the above embodiment, for example, the separation device 3 may not be disposed on the processing device 1 via the connection member 2. In this case, for example, the third lower surface 3b of the separation device 3 may be in contact with the first upper surface 1a of the processing device 1. Also, for example, the three inlet holes 126, 128, 129 and the two outlet holes 125, 127 of the processing device 1 may be connected to the three outlet holes 326, 328, 329 and the two inlet holes 325, 327 of the separation device 3 via tubes or the like. Here, for example, the inlet hole 129 as the first hole may be opened to either the third surface 12a or the fourth surface 12b.

[0176] In the above embodiment, for example, the stirring holes 123 may be open to the fourth surface 12b which is the first lower surface 1b, without opening to the first surface 11a which is the first upper surface 1a.

[0177] In the embodiment described above, for example, measurement flow path 151 may be directly connected to discharge hole 143 without being connected to discharge hole 143 via flow path 119. In this case, a configuration may be adopted in which discharge hole 143 is directly connected to second end region E2 of measurement flow path 151 serving as first flow path 1FP. Even if this configuration is adopted, discharge hole 143 serving as the second hole is in communication with second end region E2 of measurement flow path 151 serving as first flow path 1FP.

[0178] In the above embodiment, for example, the measurement flow path 151 and the flow path 119 connected to each other may be the first flow path 1FP as an integrated flow path. If this configuration is adopted, the region in the flow path 119 may be the second end region E2 located at the end of the first flow path 1FP opposite to the first end region E1 in the first longitudinal direction of the first flow path 1FP. This form is shown by the symbol E2 in parentheses in FIG. 21. In this case, the discharge hole 143 is directly connected to the second end region E2 of the first flow path 1FP. Also, for example, the region of the flow path 119 to which the discharge hole 143 is connected may be the second end region E2, and a pair of dividing portions 1d may be located on both sides of the width direction of the flow path 119.

[0179] In the above embodiment, for example, in the separation device 3, the separation channel 30 and the five channels 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39 may be groove-shaped channels that are not open to either the third upper surface 3a or the third lower surface 3b. In this case, the separation device 3 may be manufactured by joining, for example, a sheet-like or plate-like member (also referred to as a first member) to a sheet-like or plate-like member (also referred to as a second member). The first member has projections and recesses corresponding to the separation channel 30 and the five channels 35, 36, 37, 38, and 39. The second member has five through holes corresponding to the two inlet holes 325 and 327 and the three outlet holes 326, 328, and 329, respectively. If such a configuration is adopted, a mode can be adopted in which the third lower surface 3b is in contact with the second upper surface 2a in areas other than where the two inlet holes 325, 327 and the three outlet holes 326, 328, 329 are located.

[0180] In the above embodiment, for example, a pair of dividing parts having the same or similar function as the pair of dividing parts 1d may be present for another flow path other than the first flow path 1FP among the multiple flow paths 1f of the processing device 1. The pair of dividing parts divides the non-bonding parts 1n located along the other flow path on both sides of the width direction of the other flow path in the longitudinal direction of the other flow path. The presence of the pair of dividing parts can stop the progress of liquid in the non-bonding parts 1n along the other flow path due to capillary action. In this case, for example, the occurrence of defects that may occur due to the progress of liquid in the non-bonding parts 1n along the other flow path due to capillary action can be reduced.

[0181] In the above embodiment, for example, the processing device 1 may have at least the first flow path 1FP of the multiple flow paths 1f. In this case, for example, the separation device 3 may not be stacked on the processing device 1, and the discharge hole 329 of the separation device 3 and the introduction hole 129 of the processing device 1 may be connected via a tube or the like. In the separation device 3, the fluid to be processed may be introduced into the introduction hole 325 via a tube or the like, and the pressing fluid may be introduced into the introduction hole 327 via a tube or the like. In the separation device 3, the other type particles P200 may be discharged from the discharge hole 326 via a tube or the like, and a composition of the fluid to be processed other than the other type particles P200 and the separation target particles P100 may be discharged from the discharge hole 328 via a tube or the like. Even in this case, for example, if the specimen is only introduced to the introduction hole 129 side of the pair of dividing parts 1d of the measurement flow path 151, the pair of dividing parts 1d may stop the progress of the liquid toward the discharge hole 143 due to the capillary phenomenon in the non-joining part 1n. As a result, for example, in the processing device 1, when liquid is introduced from the inlet hole 129 side of the internal measurement flow path 151 to between the first end region E1 to which the inlet hole 129 is connected and the second end region E2 to which the discharge hole 143 is connected, it is possible to make it difficult for the liquid to reach the discharge hole 143.

[0182] In the above embodiment, for example, when an optical measurement is performed on the separation target particle P100 as an example of the predetermined process, an optical measurement device to which an optical sensor unit is added may be adopted in the flow path device 100. In this case, for example, an optical sensor having a light emitting unit and a light receiving unit may be applied to the optical sensor unit. A light emitting element such as a light emitting diode (LED) or a laser diode (LD) is applied to the light emitting unit. For example, a light receiving element such as a photodiode (PD) may be applied to the light receiving unit. For example, an element having a semiconductor region of a second conductivity type in a surface layer portion near the upper surface of a semiconductor substrate of a first conductivity type is applied to the light receiving element. For example, an element having a plurality of semiconductor layers stacked on the semiconductor substrate may be applied to the light emitting element. Here, a configuration may be adopted in which light emitted from the light emitting unit passes through a specimen in the measurement flow path 151 and is received by the light receiving unit. Also, light emitted from the light emitting unit may pass through a dispersion fluid in the reference flow path 152 and is received by the light receiving unit. The optical sensor unit may be held movably by an actuator or the like between a position facing the measurement flow path 151 and a position facing the reference flow path 152. The optical measurement device may have a control unit that controls the operation of the optical sensor unit. The control unit may be capable of controlling the operation of the actuator that moves the optical sensor unit. The control unit may receive a signal output by the light receiving unit in response to receiving light, and perform various types of arithmetic processing in response to the signal.

[0183] In the above embodiment, acrylic resin, polycarbonate (PC), or COP may be used as the material of the processing device 1. For example, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is used as the acrylic resin.

[0184] In the above embodiment, for example, any welding method other than ultrasonic welding, such as laser welding, heat welding, or diffusion welding, may be applied to join the first plate-shaped member 11 and the second plate-shaped member 12. In other words, for example, any welding method may be applied to join the convex portion 12p and the concave portion 11r, or to join the convex portion 11p and the concave portion 12r.

[0185] All or part of the components constituting the above-described embodiment and various examples may be combined as appropriate to the extent that no contradiction occurs. [Explanation of symbols]
