Description

[Technical field]

[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 63 / 046,237, filed June 30, 2020, and French Patent Application No. 2009049, filed September 7, 2020, which are incorporated by reference in their entireties.

[0002] The present disclosure relates to cosmetic compositions that provide a unique sensory experience. Additionally, aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods of treating damaged skin with the cosmetic compositions. [Background technology]

[0003] Skin serves as a natural barrier between the internal and external environment and therefore plays a key role in vital biological functions, such as protection from mechanical and chemical insults, microbial, and ultraviolet damage. However, skin health and appearance can be compromised by environmental factors, genetic predisposition, nutrition, and sun exposure.

[0004] The environmental pollution situation is rapidly worsening and becoming more evident in the daily lives of consumers around the world. The damage of pollution to human skin is also becoming more and more obvious. Human skin is also subject to various insults from external factors such as ultraviolet (UV) radiation, environmental pollution, wind, heat, infrared radiation, low humidity, harsh surfactants, and abrasives. Recent studies suggest that in addition to UV radiation, other environmental factors, especially air pollution, contribute to the development of solar lentigines. Ultimately, these factors result in visible signs of skin damage, such as small brown spots on the skin, especially in the elderly.

[0005] Typical skin damage includes fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, sallowness, sagging skin, dark circles under the eyes, puffy eyes, enlarged pores, visible dead skin, i.e. peeling, scaling, dryness, and roughness. Consumers want to slow the progression of skin damage and reduce the effects of aging, especially on the face and around the eyes. Radiant and clear skin looks younger and is a sign of good health and vitality.

[0006] Thus, there is a continuing need for new and improved formulations that improve the health and visual appearance of the skin. Summary of the Invention

[0007] The present disclosure relates to a cosmetic composition that provides a unique sensory experience. For example, the cosmetic composition typically has a structure that provides the visual appearance of a cream before and / or during application of the cosmetic composition to the skin of a user. When the user applies the cosmetic composition to his or her skin (e.g., by rubbing, spreading, and / or massaging), the cosmetic composition has the tactile sensation of a serum. The composition then becomes thixotropic, providing the tactile sensation of a cream.

[0008] The cosmetic compositions of the present disclosure typically comprise: (a) from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight, preferably from about 0.1% to about 4% by weight, of a nonionic emulsifier comprising polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate; (b) from about 0.1% to about 10%, preferably from about 0.5% to about 3%, by weight of sodium polyacrylate; (c) from about 0.1% to about 15% by weight, preferably from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight, of a matting agent; (d) from about 0.1% by weight to about 20% by weight, preferably from about 0.1% by weight to about 14% by weight, of a fatty phase that is liquid at or above 25° C. and contains one or more fatty compounds; and (e) water Including, The cosmetic composition is an oil-in-water emulsion and all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0016] It should be understood that the various aspects are not limited to the arrangements and instrumentality shown in the drawings.

[0017] The present disclosure relates to cosmetic compositions that provide a unique sensory experience. The inventors have discovered that certain ingredients in specific combinations and amounts provide cosmetic compositions that exhibit a unique sensory experience.

[0018] The cosmetic compositions of the present disclosure typically comprise: (a) about 0.1% by weight to about 10% by weight, preferably about 0.1% by weight to about 4% by weight, more preferably about 0.5% by weight to about 3% by weight of a nonionic emulsifier comprising polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate; (b) about 0.1% to about 10% by weight, preferably about 0.5% to about 3% by weight, and more preferably about 0.6% to about 3% by weight, of sodium polyacrylate; (c) from about 0.1% to about 15% by weight, preferably from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight, and more preferably from about 0.1% to about 3% by weight of a matting agent; (d) from about 0.1% by weight to about 20% by weight, preferably from about 0.1% by weight to about 14% by weight, of a fatty phase that is liquid at a temperature of 25° C. or higher and that contains one or more fatty compounds; and (e) water wherein the cosmetic composition is an oil-in-water emulsion and all weight percentages are based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition.

[0019] The cosmetic composition typically has a structure that provides the visual appearance of a cream before and upon application of the cosmetic composition to a user's skin. When a user actively applies the cosmetic composition to the user's skin (e.g., by rubbing, spreading, and / or massaging), the shear stress caused by the active application of the cosmetic composition reduces the viscosity of the cosmetic composition to such an extent that the cosmetic composition provides the tactile sensation of a serum. In some examples, the cosmetic composition has a viscosity of 10 2 / sec~10 3 per second (e.g., 10 2.25 / sec, 10 2.5 / sec, or 10 2.75 / sec), the viscosity of the composition is formulated to decrease by about 30% or more, e.g., about 35% or more, about 40% or more, about 45% or more, about 50% or more, about 55% or more, about 60% or more, about 65% or more, about 70% or more, about 75% or more, about 80% or more, about 85% or more, about 90% or more, about 95% or more, or about 99% or more.

[0020] Additionally, the cosmetic composition may have a complex modulus at 0.1% strain (G) of about 100 Pa or more, about 150 Pa or more, about 200 Pa or more, about 300 Pa or more, about 350 Pa or more, about 400 Pa or more, about 450 Pa or more, about 500 Pa or more, about 550 Pa or more, and / or about 1000 Pa or less, about 950 Pa or less, about 900 Pa or less, about 850 Pa or less, about 800 Pa or less, about 750 Pa or less, about 700 Pa or less, about 650 Pa or less, about 600 Pa or less, or about 550 Pa or less, prior to application of the cosmetic composition. * ), as well as a phase angle between about 8° and about 17°, between about 10° and about 15°, or between about 11° and about 14°. Additionally or alternatively, the phase angle may be about 45° or less, about 40° or less, about 35° or less, about 30° or less, about 25° or less, about 20° or less, about 15° or less, about 10° or less, about 5° or less.

[0021] Preferably, the cosmetic composition exhibits thixotropy. For example, the cosmetic composition may be thixotropic and have a dynamic viscosity of 5,000 Pa / s to 100,000 Pa / s. In some cases, the dynamic viscosity may be 10,000 Pa / s to 100,000 Pa / s, 20,000 Pa / s to 100,000 Pa / s, 30,000 Pa / s to 100,000 Pa / s, 40,000 Pa / s to 100,000 Pa / s, 50,000 Pa / s to 100,000 Pa / s, 60,000 Pa / s to 100,000 Pa / s, 70,000 Pa / s to 100,000 Pa / s, or 90,000 Pa / s to 100,000 Pa / s, or any range or subrange therebetween. In some cases, the cosmetic composition provides a long working time. Working time can be determined based on the amount of time that the cosmetic composition or one or more components of the cosmetic composition take to be absorbed. In some cases, the cosmetic composition has a working time of about 5 seconds or more, about 10 seconds or more, about 20 seconds or more, about 30 seconds or more, about 40 seconds or more, about 50 seconds or more, or about 60 seconds.

[0022] After the working time, the cosmetic composition then provides a tactile feel of cream after absorption.Preferably, the cosmetic composition has a coefficient of friction of 0.3 or less at 10 mm / s.For example, the cosmetic composition may have a coefficient of friction of about 0.6 or less, about 0.5 or less, about 0.4 or less, about 0.3 or less, about 0.28 or less, about 0.26 or less, about 0.24 or less, about 0.22 or less, about 0.2 or less, about 0.18 or less, about 0.16 or less, about 0.14 or less, or about 0.12 or less at a speed of 10 mm / s.The coefficient of friction may also be about 0.02 or more, preferably about 0.04 or more, preferably about 0.06 or more, preferably about 0.08 or more, or preferably about 0.1 or more at a speed of 10 mm / s.

[0023] Cosmetic compositions are generally formulated as emulsions. Typically, cosmetic compositions are formulated to be oil-in-water emulsions in which a fatty phase is emulsified in a hydrophilic phase. However, in some instances, cosmetic compositions may be formulated to have a hydrophilic phase (e.g., alcohol, glycol, polyol, etc.) emulsified in a fatty phase. Cosmetic compositions may in some cases be formulated to be lotions, serums, creams, sprays, or any other suitable form of product.

[0024] Additionally, the present disclosure relates to a method of treating skin, comprising applying the cosmetic composition of the present disclosure to the skin. The cosmetic composition may also be useful in treating and / or repairing skin damage caused by photoaging, and in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, and uneven skin texture. The aforementioned method may be non-therapeutic.

[0025] Suitable ingredients, such as those listed below, may be included or excluded from the formulation of the cosmetic composition depending on the particular combination of other ingredients, the form of the cosmetic composition, and / or the use of the formulation (e.g., lotion, serum, gel, cream, spray, etc.).

[0026] Non-ionic emulsifiers The cosmetic composition typically includes one or more nonionic emulsifiers, such as polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate. The amount of the nonionic emulsifier in the cosmetic composition may vary, but is typically from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition. For example, the amount of nonionic emulsifier in the cosmetic composition may be from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight, from about 0.1% to 8% by weight, from about 0.1% to 6% by weight, from about 0.1% to 5% by weight, from about 0.1% to 4% by weight, from about 0.1% to 3% by weight, from about 0.1% to 2% by weight, from about 0.1% to 1% by weight; from about 0.25% to 10% by weight, from about 0.25% to 8% by weight, from about 0.25% to 6% by weight, from about 0.25% to 5% by weight, from about 0.25% to 4% by weight, from about 0.25% to 3% by weight, from about 0.25% to 2% by weight, from about 0.25% to 1% by weight; from about 0.5% by weight, including ranges and subranges therebetween, based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition. about 0.75% to 10% by weight, about 0.75% to 8% by weight, about 0.75% to 6% by weight, about 0.75% to 5% by weight, about 0.75% to 4% by weight, about 0.75% to 3% by weight, about 0.75% to 2% by weight, about 1% to 10% by weight, about 1% to 8% by weight, about 1% to 6% by weight, about 1% to 5% by weight, about 1% to 4% by weight, about 1% to 3% by weight, or about 1% to about 2% by weight.

[0027] The nonionic emulsifier may be comprised of polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate, so that the amount of polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate is the total amount of nonionic emulsifier in the cosmetic composition. Therefore, polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate can be present in the cosmetic composition in any amount listed above for nonionic emulsifier. However, in some cases, the cosmetic composition comprises one or more nonionic emulsifiers in addition to polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate.

[0028] Emulsifiers are typically used to incorporate oil and / or fatty compounds into hydrophilic media, such as aqueous media, to form oil-in-water emulsions. However, in some instances, emulsifiers can be used to incorporate a hydrophilic phase (e.g., aqueous media) into an oil or fatty phase to form water-in-oil emulsions. Cosmetic compositions include one or more nonionic emulsifiers. However, additional emulsifiers, such as amphoteric, anionic, and / or cationic emulsifiers, can also be included (or excluded).

[0029] In the case of O / W emulsions, examples of emulsifiers that may be mentioned include nonionic emulsifiers, such as oxyalkylenated (more particularly polyoxyethylenated) fatty acid esters of glycerol; oxyalkylenated fatty acid esters of sorbitan; oxyalkylenated (oxyethylenated and / or oxypropylenated) fatty acid esters; oxyalkylenated (oxyethylenated and / or oxypropylenated) fatty alcohol ethers; sugar esters, such as sucrose stearate; and mixtures thereof. A more exhaustive but non-limiting list of useful nonionic emulsifiers is given below under the heading "Nonionic emulsifiers".

[0030] In some cases, the cosmetic composition containing natural oils contains two or more nonionic emulsifiers. In particular, one or more nonionic emulsifiers with an HLB of 10 or more, and one or more nonionic emulsifiers with an HLB of 5 or less. The total amount of these emulsifiers may be such that the final HLB of the hair treatment composition is within + / - 0.5 of the HLB of the natural oil in the cosmetic composition. This typically results in a final HLB of the emulsified natural oil in the hair treatment composition ranging from about 6 to about 8.

[0031] Examples of emulsifiers that may be mentioned include nonionic emulsifiers, such as oxyalkylenated (more particularly polyoxyethylenated) fatty acid esters of glycerol; oxyalkylenated fatty acid esters of sorbitan; oxyalkylenated (oxyethylenated and / or oxypropylenated) fatty acid esters; oxyalkylenated (oxyethylenated and / or oxypropylenated) fatty alcohol ethers; sugar esters, such as sucrose stearate; and mixtures thereof.

[0032] Non-limiting examples of non-ionic emulsifiers include polyglyceryl-based emulsifiers, polyol esters, glycerol ethers, oxyethylenated ethers, oxypropylenated ethers, ethylene glycol polymers, sorbitan esters, polysorbates, and mixtures thereof. In some examples, one or more non-ionic emulsifiers are selected from polyglyceryl 10-stearate, polyglyceryl-3-caprate, polyglyceryl-3-diisostearate, polyglyceryl-3-methylglucose distearate, or mixtures thereof. In at least one case, in addition to polyglyceryl-3 methylglucose distearate, the cosmetic composition may further comprise at least one of polyglyceryl-10-stearate, polyglyceryl-3-caprate, polyglyceryl-3-diisostearate, or polysorbate 20.

[0033] Sodium Polyacrylate The cosmetic composition typically comprises sodium polyacrylate in an amount of about 0.1% to about 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition. [0037] Mattifying agents (also called "mattifying fillers") refer to materials that give a more transparent and hazy effect to the complexion, and give a natural and desirable appearance without giving the skin a greasy, shiny or glossy appearance. To do this, these materials are often absorbent fillers, such as talc, silica, kaolin, or fillers with light-scattering optical properties, which are known under the name of "soft focus" effect. In addition to reducing shine or greasiness, mattifying agents can also contribute to the texture and thickness of the overall cosmetic composition.Mattifying agents are often (but not always) particulate materials or powders.

[0038] Cosmetic compositions containing mattifying agents can be characterized by the following protocol: The test compositions are spread on a contrast card (Prufkarte type 24 / 5-250 cm sold by Erichsen) using a mechanical film spreader. 2 ) 2mg / cm 2 The composition is then dried overnight at 37°C and its reflection is measured using a gonioreflectometer sold by Micromodule. The specular reflected intensity at 30° (R) and the scattered intensity at 90° (D) are measured consecutively. The result obtained is the ratio R between the specular and diffuse reflection. The value of R is proportionally smaller the greater the matting effect brought about by the filler. An R value of 2 or less generally indicates a matting effect. EXAMPLES

[0137] The following examples are provided primarily for the purpose of illustrating the benefits achieved by the embodiments of the present disclosure, and are intended to serve to illustrate the technology and are not necessarily limiting in any way.

[0138] TIFF0007651598000003.tif168170

[0139] Example 2 The flow behavior was investigated using rheology: Viscoelastic and flow measurements were performed on a DHR-2 rheometer (TA Instruments, New Castle, Delaware, USA) at 32° C. (skin temperature).

[0140] For these rheological measurements, parallel plates with cross-hatched surfaces (diameter = 40 mm) were used.

[0141] For the viscoelastic measurements, strain sweeps were performed from 0.01% to 1000% strain at a fixed frequency ω = 1 rad / s.

[0142] Complex modulus of elasticity G * and the phase angle δ is defined as follows: TIFF0007651598000004.tif27170In the formula, G' and G" are the storage and loss moduli, respectively. TIFF0007651598000005.tif10170 or if the phase angle δ<45°, the system is elastic, TIFF0007651598000006.tif10170 or if the phase angle δ>45°, the system is viscous.

[0143] A rheological test was carried out on Example Composition A to determine whether Example Composition A exhibits a consistency similar to that of a serum with an elasticity similar to that of a cream under small deformation. The rheological test was also carried out on two comparative commercially available benchmark products (Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2). The commercially available benchmark products (Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2) contained the following ingredients.

[0144] Ingredients for Comparative Example 1 (Cream): Water, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Glycerin, Dimethicone, PPG-15 Stearyl Ether, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Glyceryl Behenate, Ceteareth-20, Isohexadecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polyethylene, Sodium Polyacrylate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate / VP Crosspolymer, Polyacrylamide, Fragrance, C13-14 Isoparaffin, PTFE, Chlorphenesin, Polysorbate 20, Hydrolyzed Myrtle (Myrtus Communis) Leaf Extract, Retinol, BHT, Sodium Hyaluronate, Disodium EDTA, Laureth-7, Sodium Hydroxide, and Ascorbic Acid.

[0145] Ingredients for Comparative Example 2 (serum): Water, dimethicone, aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, dimethicone crosspolymer, ammonium, acryloyldimethyltaurate / VP copolymer, trisiloxane, nylon 12, C12-15 alkyl benzoate, ascorbyl glucoside, glycerin, caprylyl glycol, polyacrylamide, xanthan gum, fragrance, C13-14 isoparaffin, sodium hyaluronate, sodium lactate, hydrolyzed myrtle leaf extract, sodium hydroxide, BHT, disodium EDTA, polysorbate 20, laureth-7, retinol, sodium PCA, sorbitol, proline, hinokitiol, mica, titanium dioxide.

[0146] Based on the data presented in FIG. 1, Example Composition A exhibited a creamy appearance before being subjected to shear stress.

[0147] Example 3 Example Composition A was evaluated to determine the flowability of the composition upon application by the user. Shear viscosity of the samples was run for 5 minutes at shear rates ranging from 0.001 (1 / s) to 1000 (1 / s). Shear viscosity was also determined for two comparative commercial benchmark products (Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2) used in Example 2 above. The ingredients of the comparative examples are listed in Example 2. The high shear viscosity demonstrates that Composition A has the flowability of a serum (Figure 2) while maintaining the working time of a cream (Figure 3).

[0148] Example 4 To evaluate the time-dependent flow behavior during application of Example Composition A and two commercial benchmark products (Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2), samples were subjected to deformation and stress was measured for 2 minutes / each direction as a function of shear rate ranging from low to high (0.001-1000 1 / s) and high to low (1000-0.001 1 / s). Thixotropy is indicated by a hysteresis loop that measures the time-dependent recovery of the serum formulation after shear thinning. Example Composition A was determined to exhibit thixotropy.

[0149] Example 5 The friction coefficient μ was determined from tribology experiments that account for these perceptions and textures. Tribology was performed using the rheometer described herein using a ring accessory. Figure 4 shows selected friction coefficient μ at three rotational speeds of 10 mm / s, 100 mm / s, and 1000 mm / s for the serum of Example 1A and the comparative commercial benchmarks (Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2) whose ingredients are described in Example 2 above. Based on tribology, it is expected that users may feel slippery, sticky, and absorbent attributes associated with cosmetic compositions during application of such compositions. After application of the cosmetic product, it is expected that the sensory feel and texture of the deposit will change due to the drying of the product.

[0150] The term "INCI" stands for International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients, a system of names for personal care ingredients established by the International Nomenclature Committee of the Personal Care Products Council.

[0151] As used herein, all ranges provided are meant to include all specific ranges within a given range, and combinations of subranges between the given ranges, so the range 1-5 specifically includes subranges 2-5, 3-5, 2-3, 2-4, 1-4, etc., as well as 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

[0152] All ingredients and elements that are positively described in this disclosure may be negatively excluded from the claims. In other words, the cosmetic compositions of the present disclosure may be free of, or essentially free of, all ingredients and elements that are positively referred to throughout this disclosure.

[0153] In some examples, the cosmetic composition of the present disclosure may be substantially free of non-incidental amounts of ingredients or compounds described herein.Non-incidental amounts of ingredients or compounds are the amounts of the ingredients or compounds that are added to the cosmetic composition alone. For example, the cosmetic composition may be substantially free of non-incidental amounts of ingredients or compounds, although such ingredients or compounds may be present as part of the raw materials that are included as a blend of two or more compounds.

[0154] Some of the various categories of ingredients identified may overlap. Thus, overlap may exist and if a composition includes both ingredients (or if a composition includes more than two overlapping ingredients), the overlapping compounds do not represent more than one ingredient. For example, tocopherol may be characterized as both a skin active and a preservative. If a particular composition includes both a skin active and a preservative, steareth-20 functions only as a skin active or only as a preservative (tocopherol does not function as both a skin active and a preservative).

[0155] All publications and patent applications cited herein are hereby incorporated by reference and are incorporated for any and all purposes as if each individual publication or patent application was specifically and individually indicated to be incorporated by reference. In the event of a conflict between the present disclosure and a publication or patent application incorporated herein by reference, the present disclosure shall control.

[0156] As used herein, the terms "comprising," "having," and "including" are used in their open, non-limiting sense.

[0157] The terms "a," "an," and "the" are understood to include the plural as well as the singular. Thus, the term "a mixture there of" also relates to "mixtures there of." Throughout this disclosure, the term "mixtures there of" is used following a list of elements, as shown in the following example, where the letters A-F represent the elements: "one or more elements selected from the group consisting of A, B, C, D, E, F, and mixtures thereof." The term "mixtures of these" does not require that the mixture contain all of A, B, C, D, E, and F (although it may contain all of A, B, C, D, E, and F). Rather, it indicates that it may contain a mixture of any two or more of A, B, C, D, E, and F. In other words, it is equivalent to the expression "one or more elements selected from the group consisting of A, B, C, D, E, F, and mixtures of any two or more of A, B, C, D, E, and F."

[0158] The phrase "one or more" means "at least one" and therefore includes individual components as well as mixtures / combinations.

[0159] Other than in the working examples, or unless otherwise indicated, all numbers expressing quantities of ingredients and / or reaction conditions can be modified in all instances by the term "about," meaning within + / - 5% of the indicated number.

[0160] As used herein, the term "treating" (and grammatical variations thereof) refers to applying a composition of the present disclosure to the surface of a keratinous substrate, such as hair, on the head and / or body of a user.

[0161] As used herein, the term "substantially free" or "essentially free" means that there is less than about 2% by weight of a particular material added to the composition, based on the total weight of the composition. Nevertheless, the composition may contain less than about 1% by weight, less than about 0.5% by weight, less than about 0.1% by weight, or no particular material at all. All components described herein may be optionally included or excluded from the composition / method / kit. If excluded, the composition / method / kit may be free or essentially free of that component. For example, a particular composition may be free or essentially free of silicone.
