Description

[Technical Field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a modular bag for bicycles and similar vehicles.

[0002] More particularly, the present invention relates to a modular bag for a bicycle adapted to removably accommodate an additional bag or second component therein. [Background technology]

[0003] A bicycle or similar vehicle may be equipped with a lateral bag, for example, which is fixed to the frame of the bicycle, in particular to the rear rack and / or the front rack.

[0004] The lateral bag is connected to the tube of the rack and for this purpose has at least one pair of upper clasps, such as a mechanical clip system, that support the full weight of the bag itself, and possibly also a lower pin, which is coupled to a longitudinal bracket of the frame at the wheel of the bicycle, and which allows the bag to be kept in place without moving during use.

[0005] Known bicycle bags primarily suffer from the drawback that their mechanical clip systems are rather complex and prone to breakage, e.g., caused by vibrations generated during pedaling. Such clasps must support the full weight of the bag and therefore must not be prone to breakage. At the same time, they must be removable, so a suitable compromise must be found between strength and ease of attachment / detachment by the user. Additionally, when the bag is removed from the bicycle and thus moved by the user, the associated attachments are exposed to further risk of breakage.

[0006] Another drawback of known types of bicycle bags is that they are very susceptible to soiling during use due to the dirt and dust that they come into contact with, which becomes a significant drawback when the cyclist arrives at his destination and needs to remove the bag from the bicycle frame in order to take it to the desired location (inside his home or, for example, inside a tent in the case of camping).

[0007] Another drawback associated with traditional types of bags is that they are often bulky and the mechanical attachment to the bicycle often adds weight to the bag itself.

[0008] Therefore, in order to improve the use of such bags while pedaling, it is necessary to modify the system of attachment / detachment of the bag to the bicycle frame, as well as to have an easily detachable system to increase the possibility of using the bag itself. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0009] Therefore, the technical problem of the present invention is to improve the state of the art.

[0010] In the context of such technical challenges, one object of the present invention is to implement a modular bag for bicycles and the like that has optimal strength characteristics as well as the ability to easily attach to and / or detach from the frame of a bicycle and the like.

[0011] It is yet another object of the present invention to create a modular bag for bicycles and the like that is versatile in terms of use by cyclists. [Means for solving the problem]

[0012] All such tasks and such objects are achieved by a modular bag for bicycles or the like in accordance with the attached claim 1. The dependent claims refer to preferred and advantageous embodiments of the invention.

[0013] The features of the present invention will be better understood by those skilled in the art from the following description and the accompanying drawings and tables given as non-limiting examples. [Brief explanation of the drawings]

[Figure 12]12 shows an enlarged detail of the second component according to FIG. 11; [Figure 13] 12 shows an enlarged detail of the second component according to FIG. 11; DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0015] With reference to the accompanying Figure 1, reference number 1 generally indicates a bag for bicycles and similar vehicles according to the present invention adapted to be restrained to the frame of the bicycle and / or a rear rack and / or a front rack and / or the handlebars and / or at least one bar of the frame of the bicycle.

[0016] In particular, in FIG. 1 a first bag 1 is shown positioned laterally relative to the bicycle on a front wheel 2 of the bicycle, and a second bag 1 is shown positioned laterally relative to a rear wheel 3 of the bicycle.

[0017] The bag 1 according to the invention consists of a first component 4 and a second component 5 .

[0018] Thus, the present invention relates to a modular bag 1 that can be adapted to a multitude of requirements and situations, depending on the user's wishes and preferences. Additionally, the bag 1 is modular due to the fact that the first component 4 and the second component 5 can also be used separately, depending on the version and requirements.

[0019] The bag 1 according to the invention may be a lateral bag, i.e. one positioned along the side of a bicycle or similar vehicle, or a front bag, for example when positioned on the handlebars of a bicycle or similar vehicle, or a rear bag, when positioned in the rear zone of a bicycle or similar vehicle.

[0020] In particular, the first component 4 comprises a support container adapted to be restrained, optionally removably, to a bicycle frame or the like, in particular to the front and / or rear rack of the bicycle and / or to the handlebars and / or at least one bar of the frame (e.g., a substantially longitudinal connecting bar for the front wheel 2 (e.g., a bicycle fork) and / or one of the substantially longitudinal connecting bars for the rear wheel 3).

[0021] The first component or support vessel 4 may have a substantially parallelepiped shape and is provided with an opening 6 (e.g., in its upper surface in a parallelepiped configuration) adapted to allow for the reception of the second component 5. In one version of the invention, the opening 6 is adapted to allow for the reception of an object to be transported within the first vessel or support vessel 4 even in the absence of the second component 5.

[0022] In alternative versions, the first component 4 may have a substantially cylindrical shape with its upper base including the opening 6, or it may have a substantially hemispherical or semi-elliptical shape.

[0023] In each case, it is possible to identify for the first component or support container 4 at least one front surface or surface 7 adapted to be oriented outwardly relative to the bicycle frame in use, for example substantially parallel to the larger extension of the front wheel 2 and / or rear wheel 3, a rear surface or surface 8 adapted to be in contact with and / or restrained by the bicycle frame in use, at least one side surface or surface 9 and a lower base 10. In particular, there may be two side surfaces or surfaces 9.

[0024] The lower base 10 is opposite the opening 6 .

[0025] In at least one version of the invention, the rear and front faces or surfaces 7, 8 and / or the side faces or surfaces 9 are substantially parallel to one another.

[0026] Additionally, the side openings or faces 9 are substantially perpendicular to the front face 7 and rear face 8 or faces.

[0027] The respective dimensions of the rear and front faces or surfaces 7, 8 and / or the side faces or surfaces 9 may be the same or may differ from one another.

[0028] The various surfaces or faces 7, 8, 9 and the lower base 10 are made in such a way that they are joined together to define a single interior space accessed through the opening 6 for at least partially accommodating the second component 5 and / or the object to be transported.

[0029] The first component or support vessel 4 can be made in a single piece or, for example, in at least two pieces.

[0030] In the latter version, the first component or support vessel 4 has a front or surface 7, a rear or surface 8 and a side or surface 9 all having substantially the same height H (relative to the lower base 10).

[0031] In this way, the edges of each end 7a, 8a, 9a form a single and / or upper perimeter 11 that lies in a plane substantially parallel to the ground.

[0032] This all forms a first component or first part of the support vessel 4 .

[0033] From such periphery 11, a second portion 14 of the first component or support vessel 4 is separated, possibly in a removable manner, the second portion 14 being positioned above the first portion of the first component or support vessel 4. Similar to what is shown above, the second portion 14 comprises a substantially parallelepiped shape and / or a substantially cylindrical or tubular shape.

[0034] In particular, the second portion 14 has an opening at the bottom that coincides with the opening determined by the perimeter 11 and an opening 6 at the top, and a front wall 17, a rear wall 18 and at least one side wall 19 can be identified therein.

[0035] The lower edges 17a, 18a, 19a of the walls 17, 18, 19, respectively (which form the lower peripheral edge 16 of the second portion 14), are adapted to coincide with and / or contact the upper edges 7a, 8a, 9a, respectively and / or the perimeter 11.

[0036] The coupling means 12 can be in the form of a clip, elastic band or clasp, for example by pressure, fitting or interference, to restrain the first and second parts 14 of the first component or support container 4 to one another in a releasable but secure manner.

[0037] At least one accessory such as a bottle holder (shown in Figure 3), a reflecting means (shown in Figures 6 and 7), a light, etc. may be further added to such coupling means 12.

[0038] The fixation of the at least one accessory can be determined by the presence of a suitable slit in the accessory and a corresponding tongue present in the first component 4 (or vice versa) and / or by the presence of one or the other of the connecting means 12 or similar connecting means.

[0039] The coupling means 12 may for example be positioned on the front wall 17 for connection to the surface or face 7 and / or on the side wall 19 for connection to the side or face 9 etc.

[0040] The walls 17, 18, 19 of the second portion 14 may all have the same height, or they may have different heights.

[0041] For example, in the version shown in Figures 2 and 3, the front wall 17 has a first height H1 and the rear wall 18 has a second height H2 (relative to the perimeter 11 and / or lower perimeter 16), where H2 is greater than H1.

[0042] The side wall 19 serves as a connection between the front wall 17 and the rear wall 18 and therefore has a height h going from H1 to H2.

[0043] In the highest, in-use zone of the rear wall 18, it is possible to provide a handle 20 adapted to be grasped by a user for positioning and / or removing the first component or support container 4.

[0044] In one version of the invention, the handle 20 is achieved by creating a through transverse slit (e.g., such slit parallel to the ground) along the upper edge 18a of the rear wall 18. Such a handle 20 and / or slit can be ergonomically shaped and / or filled with a suitable material to improve the user's grip.

[0045] The handle 20 may be present even if the rear wall 18 has the same height H2 relative to the height H1 of the front wall 17, and may be positioned at least in the upper zone of the rear wall 18, which is higher during use.

[0046] Alternatively, the handle 20 can be positioned in a zone that, in use, is the upper zone of the front wall 17 and / or the side wall 19 , alternatively or in combination with a possible handle 20 present on the rear wall 18 .

[0047] If the first component 4 is made of a single piece, the handle 20 can be made of at least one of the upper edges 7a, 8a, 9a.

[0048] The first part and the second part 14 of the first component 4 (in versions where the first component 4 is not made in a single piece) are constrained to one another by the connecting means 12, so that any possible movements (attachment / detachment) of the support container 4 occur as if it were in fact made in only one piece.

[0049] In the version in which the first component 4 is made from only one piece, it can have a shape that is the sum of the characteristics described above for its first and second parts 14.

[0050] The material constituting the first component 4 may be a plastic material, a carbon material, a fabric, e.g., a knitted or nonwoven fabric, etc. The material may also be light, strong, and / or durable. Such a material must be rigid, i.e., adapted to provide structure to the first component 4 in order to support the weight of the object to be transported. Additionally, such a material is preferably water-impermeable and / or easily washable and / or includes a treatment adapted to make it water-repellent, dirt-resistant, and abrasion-resistant, in order to remove dirt that may accumulate on such materials during pedaling.

[0051] The first component or support vessel 4 may have, in at least one zone thereof, at least one slit 21. Such at least one slit 21 typically has a longitudinal progression that is substantially horizontal or parallel to the ground.

[0052] Such at least one slit 21 typically has a length comprised between 2 and 4 cm.

[0053] Such at least one slit 21 is adapted to restrain other components or additional components to the support container 4, for example by means of small bands, buckles or similar fastening means.

[0054] In some locations, or depending on the particular version, such at least one slit 21 is actually two slits 21, positioned one above the other and spaced apart by a distance of about 0.5 to 2 cm, so that small bands, buckles, or similar means can be fastened to such two slits 21 in an even more secure manner.

[0055] In a further version, the first component or support vessel 4 can have a cover 22. Such at least one cover 22 is adapted to close the opening 6 of the support vessel 4 during use, for example according to specific conditions of use or at the request of a user.

[0056] Such a cover 22 has a shape that substantially corresponds to the shape of the opening 6 and is optionally provided with side edges 22 a in order to better close the support vessel 4 .

[0057] Such a cover 22, if present, can be fixed to the rear wall 18 of the second part 14 (at a certain distance from the possible handle 20) or to the rear face or surface 8 of the support container 4 by means of a band or buckle, or by suitable hinge means 22b, which may optionally be detachable.

[0058] The first component or support container 4 is fixed by connection means 25 to the bicycle frame and / or frame bars, for example the rear rack and / or front rack.

[0059] The coupling means 25, for example in the version shown in Figures 8A to 8C, is a coupling means lacking mechanical adjustment means.

[0060] The connecting means 25 are generally arranged in an upper zone, in use, higher on the aforementioned rear face or face 8 and / or rear wall 18 of the first component or support vessel 4 .

[0061] In the version shown in the displayed figure, at the rear of the support container 4, facing the bicycle frame and positioned on the left and right sides in use, there are two connecting means 25, each comprising a band 25a inserted into the two slits 21 so as to protrude at its two ends 26, 27.

[0062] In some cases there is only one connecting means 25 positioned at a central position of the first component 4 in order to support the first component in a balanced manner and securely restrain it to the bicycle frame. Additionally, there may be three or more connecting means 25.

[0063] The ends 26, 27 of the band 25a may have straps and / or hook and loop closure elements, such as those known under the trade name Velcro®. Alternatively, the ends 26, 27 of the band 25a may have adhesive means for connection of the first end 26 with the second end 27.

[0064] Additionally, the first end 26 of the band 25a may have an annular buckle, optionally flattened to assume a substantially rectangular or oval shape, with a length approximately equal to the width of the band 25a.

[0065] In such a buckle, the second end 27 of the band 25a can be passed through, and the band 25a surrounds the rack and / or the handlebars and / or the bars of the frame of the bicycle.

[0066] Such second end 27 can then be folded on itself (and pulled to tightly surround the bars of the bicycle frame) to connect, in the covered area 28, to the rear wall 18 and / or rear face or face 8 of the support container 4 by means of an adhesive element or by means of two straps and / or one of those known, for example, under the trade name Velcro®, in particular a hook and loop connection system, the other to that present at the end 27 of the band 25a.

[0067] In either case, the connecting means 25 is of a removable kind, as it allows the support container 4 to be constrained to and released from the bicycle frame.

[0068] Accordingly, the present invention also refers to a method for releasably connecting to a bag for bicycles and similar vehicles according to the present invention adapted to be releasably restrained, in use, to the frame of the bicycle and / or the rear rack and / or the front rack and / or the handlebars and / or at least one bar of the frame of the bicycle, comprising the step of providing a first component 4, the first component 4 having an opening 6 and at least one band 25a with at least one strap and / or hook and loop closure element, connecting at least one connecting means 25 to the first component 4, and comprising a support container with at least one removable connecting means 25 for releasably restraining, in use, the first component 4 to the frame of the bicycle and / or the rear rack and / or the front rack and / or the handlebars and / or at least one bar of the frame of the bicycle by means of the at least one connecting means 25.

[0069] Next, the method provides the step of providing at least one band 25a having a first end 26 and a second end 27, the first end 26 being provided with a circular buckle, optionally flattened to have a substantially rectangular or oval shape with a length approximately equal to the width of the band 25a; passing the second end 27 through at least one slit 21, optionally two slits 21, present in the first container 4 in such a way that both the first end 26 and the second end 27 are directed towards the bicycle or similar vehicle; passing the second end 27 of the at least one band 25a around at least one bar of the bicycle frame and / or rear rack and / or front rack and / or handlebars so as to surround the at least one bar; passing the second end 27 through the buckle present in the first end 26 and fastening the at least one band 25a so as to fasten around the at least one bar; The second end 27 is folded back on itself such that at least one strap and / or hook and loop closure element is removably connected to the rear wall 18 and / or rear face or face 8 of the support container 4 in an area 28 that is covered by an adhesive element or means corresponding to the at least one strap and / or hook and loop closure element relative to those present at the second end 27.

[0070] The method according to the invention also comprises the step of providing a second component 5 and at least partially containing the second component 5 in the first component or support vessel 4 by means of an opening 6 present therein.

[0071] If the support container 4 is sized to be in contact with the zone associated with the hubs of the bicycle wheels 2, 3 according to one version of the invention, the coupling means 25 can also be provided in this zone. Alternatively, different coupling means can be provided in the zone of the hubs of the wheels 2, 3, depending on the requirements.

[0072] The strap and / or hook and loop connection means 25 are superior to mechanical attachments because they are very simple yet at the same time strong, and therefore lighter, less susceptible to damage, and easier to repair in case of problems or damage that may occur.

[0073] As mentioned above, the bag 1 according to the invention also comprises a second component 5, which is shown in some possible versions, for example, in FIGS.

[0074] The second component 5 is preferably in the form of a pouch, backpack or bag made of a water and stain resistant material and can be removably housed during use within the first component or support container 4 for transport while pedaling.

[0075] Such second component 5 may also be restrained in some way to the support container 4, for example in a detachable manner, as can be seen in Figure 3, for example by a buckle and / or a band and / or an elastic cord or band 30 secured by a slit 21 to the support container 4. Also in Figures 4, 5A and 5B we can see the second component 5 being unspooled from the first component 4, for example when the user has arrived at their destination and wants to remove the second component 5 to take it, for example, to a campsite, or when they need to detach the second component 5 from the first component 4.

[0076] In such cases, the elastic cord or band 30 initially used to secure the second component 5 in place with the first component 4 can be threaded through suitable loops or the like present on the rear or dorsal side of the second component 5 to convert the elastic cord or band 30 into one or two bands that can be worn around the shoulders of the user in the manner of a classic backpack or bag.

[0077] 11-13 show in more detail such a fastening of the elastic cord or band 30 at the rear of the second component 5, such a loop through which the elastic band 30 passes can be formed as shown in FIG. 12. For example, such a loop or the like can be constituted by a plate 31 with a bridge like protrusion 32 fastened to the fabric or material of the second component 5 and defining a through opening 33 between the plate 31 and the bridge-like protrusion 32. Such through opening 33 allows a buckle 34 to be fastened to the bridge-like protrusion 32, which is then fastened to the elastic cord or band 30 in a manner of known kind.

[0078] Alternatively or additionally, once the second component 5 is extracted from the first component 4 for transport by the user, it may be inserted into an outer casing 36, as shown in Figures 9 and 10. The outer casing may be provided with padded back or shoulder straps, as in a traditional backpack, or other convenient means to serve the user depending on their particular needs.

[0079] According to a further version of the invention, as described above, the first component 4 can be used by the user without the second component 5, and vice versa, for example the second component 5, in association with the outer casing 36, can also be used as a bag or backpack independently of the first container 4.

[0080] Both the first component 4 and the second component 5 are in fact adapted to contain an object and / or load that a user intends to transport.

[0081] Additionally, since many cyclists use the same bicycle for both travel and, for example, urban mobility, it is possible for the user to leave the bag 1 unattended even when stationary. The first container 4 can also function as a small basket for everyday use on the bicycle, improving the user's mobility even during short urban journeys. Thus, the bag 1, together with its first and second components 4 and 5, defines a modular system. In particular, the first component 4 can be used in combination with or without the second component 5, which can also be used alone or in combination with the outer casing 36 and / or other containers with different functions.

[0082] Therefore, the present invention also relates to a kit comprising a bag 1 according to the present invention, comprising a first component 4, a second component 5, and an outer casing 36 adapted to be at least partially contained within the outer casing 36 when the second component 5 is extracted from the first component 4 so that the second component 5 can be transported within the first component 4 or by a user.

[0083] The bag 1 according to the invention has therefore been found to be modular, durable over time and suitable for any conditions of use.

[0084] Finally, the invention also relates to a bicycle or similar vehicle equipped with at least one bag 1 according to the preceding description.

[0085] While the present invention has been described in accordance with preferred embodiments, equivalent variations are contemplated without departing from the scope provided by the following claims.
