Description

[Technical Field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a method for producing a lipstick having a special three-dimensional surface effect and to the type of lipstick thus obtained. [Background technology]

[0002] Ordinary lipsticks, i.e. lipsticks intended to be connected to a suitable support base that is axially movable within the case, usually have sides that do not have any particular visual effect.

[0003] Lipstick users will appreciate having lipsticks with textured exteriors that not only grab attention at the time of purchase but also offer other, more unique cosmetic benefits beyond simply applying color to the wearer's lips.

[0004] Prior art relating to the production of lipstick includes, for example, the techniques disclosed in the following Patent Documents 1 to 3. [Patent Document 1] US Patent Application Publication No. 2002 / 0086079 [Patent Document 2] US Patent Application Publication No. 2007 / 0295887 [Patent Document 3] U.S. Patent No. 6,022,209 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0005] The object of the present invention is to provide a method adapted to the production of lipsticks having special three-dimensional surface effects that are appreciated by users and observers and that result in unique and different desirable cosmetic effects on the user's lips, as well as lipsticks obtained by this method. [Means for solving the problem]

[0006] According to the invention, this object is achieved by a method comprising the following successive steps a) to h):

[0007] a) forming a metal tap having a head portion in the shape of a lipstick and having a rough exterior surface; b) mirror-polishing the outer side surface of the head portion of the metal tap to obtain a head portion having a polished outer side surface; c) laser machining the polished exterior side surface of the head portion to obtain a tap having a laser machined tap with an exterior side surface machined on the head portion according to a desired three-dimensional design; d) forming a hollow ogive made of malleable plastic material on the outside of the tap having the machined head and inside the molding space, the hollow ogive having an internal void having a shape complementary to the three-dimensional design; e) introducing said ogive with said complementary shaped internal cavity upward into the injection space; f) injecting a lipstick compatible high temperature fluid material into the complementary shaped cavity of the ogive; g) cooling the injected material to obtain a solidified lipstick; h) withdrawing the solidified lipstick from the interior void of the ogive; [Effects of the Invention]

[0008] This results in a lipstick with an outer side provided with an arbitrary three-dimensional design resulting from laser processing of the initial metal tap.

[0009] In an embodiment of the method according to the present invention, the solidified lipstick extracted from the ogive may then be subjected to a step of spraying or pearling with micro-pearls, which is carried out in a chamber using a cyclone system without the use of solvents or the like, thereby allowing the desired number of micro-pearls to be evenly applied to the outer surface of the lipstick without voids or excess, giving it a particularly bright and pleasing appearance.

[0010] The method according to the invention and the lipstick characteristics that can be derived therefrom will become apparent from the detailed description of exemplary embodiments that follow. [Brief explanation of the drawings]

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0012] 1 and 2 show a metal tap 1 that can be used in the method according to the invention, which comprises an initially roughened head 2 that is shaped like a regular lipstick, i.e. cylindrical, terminating in a pointed end with an oblique cut 3. A handle 4 extends axially from the base of the head 2, which can be used to support and handle the tap 1.

[0013] The method according to the present invention begins with mirror polishing the head 2. This can be done using any known type of equipment, resulting in a tap with a polished head 5, as shown in Figures 3 and 4.

[0014] The ground head 5 of the tap is laser machined using any known device to produce a laser machined head 6 with an outer side having a desired three-dimensional design, such as a velvet or other fabric design, as shown in Figure 7.

[0015] The tap with the laser-machined head 6 is then used in a mould cavity 7 of a known type of moulding machine 8 (such as that described in EP 1 473 133 A1) shown in Figure 8 to obtain a hollow ogive 9 made of malleable plastic material (shown in the finished moulded state in Figure 9). The upwardly facing internal cavity 10 of the ogive, shown in enlarged detail in Figure 10, has a complementary design to the external side of the laser-machined head 6.

[0016] Once extracted from the molding machine, the hollow ogive 9 is inserted into a molding space 11 of any known type of molding machine (for example a machine such as that described in EP 1 437 062 A1) as shown in Figure 11. The molding space 11 receives a fluid product 12 that is adapted to be injected to form a lipstick.

[0017] After cooling, solidification and extraction of the ogive 9 from the internal cavity 10, a lipstick 13 is obtained, which has an outer side corresponding to the outer side of the laser machined head 6 of the tap of Figures 5 and 6, which in this example has a velvet or other type of fabric design, as shown in Figures 12 and 13.

[0018] If desired, the resulting lipstick 13 can be sprayed or "pearl-ed" with pearls in a cyclone system, such as the one shown diagrammatically in FIG. 14 and generally designated by reference numeral 14. In FIG. 14, reference numeral 13 designates a possible lipstick rotating in a sealed chamber 31, reference numeral 32 designates a spray or pearling chamber, and reference numerals 33 and 34 designate pearl dispensers 15 that move the pearls around the lipstick 13. Excess pearls that do not adhere to the lipstick fall through the spray chamber 32 due to the Venturi effect in dispensers 33 and 34, and are then reintroduced for the next lipstick. This results in the lipstick being covered with pearls 15 that adhere uniformly without gaps or excess. The pearls 15 impart a much more striking ultra-iridescent effect to the finished lipstick 16 than can be achieved with conventional solvent-mixed pearl sprays, as shown in FIGS. 15 and 16.

[0019] As mentioned above, the finished lipstick, pearled or not, may have any other design depending on the design imprinted by laser machining the head of the initial tap. Figures 17-32 show only a few examples of lipsticks, pearled or not, that can be obtained by the method of the present invention. In particular, Figures 17-18 show a lipstick 17 having a non-pearl diagonal band, Figures 19-20 show a similar lipstick having a diagonal band 18 containing pearls 15, Figures 21-22 show a lipstick having a non-pearl vertical band 19, Figures 23-24 show a similar lipstick having a vertical band 20 containing pearls 15, Figures 25-26 show a lipstick having a non-pearl star design 21, Figures 27-28 show a similar lipstick having a pearl star design 22 containing pearls 15, Figures 29-30 show a non-pearl lipstick 23 having light and dark triangles, and Figures 31-32 show a similar lipstick 24 having light and dark triangles containing pearls 15.
