AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing railway vehicles face challenges in expanding the space for connection boxes due to spatial constraints imposed by underfloor equipment and bogies, and maintaining airtightness during high-speed travel through tunnels.

Method used

The railway vehicle incorporates a junction box with a terminal block housed within a frame formed by partially cutting out panels of a double-skin profile extrusion, allowing easy expansion of space without altering the positional relationship with underfloor equipment and bogies, and featuring sealed pathways for wiring to maintain airtightness.

Benefits of technology

This configuration enables easy expansion of connection box space, maintains airtightness, and reduces damage from external factors while enhancing the strength and quietness of the vehicle compartment.

Abstract

To provide a railway vehicle in which the space in which a transition box is housed can be easily expanded without changing the positional relationship between the transition box and underfloor equipment and a bogie arranged around the transition box, and which can easily maintain airtightness inside a vehicle compartment.SOLUTION: Provided is a railway vehicle 10 with a transition box 5 provided near the end of an underframe 6 in the direction of the rails, in which the transition box includes a terminal block 4 connecting vehicle wiring 2 laid inside the vehicle to a jumper extension wire 32 extended from an inter-vehicle connector 31 to which a jumper wire 3 that connects between vehicles is detachably connected. The underframe includes a face plate 61 on the inside of the vehicle, a face plate 62 on the outside of the vehicle, and a connecting plate 63 connecting the two face plates, and is formed of a double-skin profile DSK extruded and molded in the direction of the rails. The transition box is formed by partially cutting out one of the two face plates and the connecting plate, and has a housing space 5S for housing the terminal block.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
