AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Current cosmetic compositions containing vitamin B group or its derivatives face challenges in effectively penetrating the skin, limiting their cosmetic benefits such as whitening and anti-wrinkle effects, due to the unclear mechanisms of skin penetration enhancers, particularly in the stratum corneum.

Method used

A cosmetic composition incorporating a polymer with a specific repeating unit, acting as a transdermal penetration enhancer, is used to enhance the skin penetration of vitamin B group or its derivatives, specifically niacinamide, by forming a cosmetic composition with a weight ratio of vitamin B group or derivatives to the polymer ranging from 100:1 to 1:1, which includes polymers like (ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/vinylpyrrolidone) copolymer and (dimethylacrylamide/sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate) crosspolymer.

Benefits of technology

The use of the polymer as a transdermal penetration enhancer significantly promotes the penetration of vitamin B group or derivatives into the skin, as demonstrated by increased transdermal penetration rates of niacinamide in the cosmetic compositions, thereby enhancing the cosmetic effects.

Description

beauty composition

[0001] The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition, and in particular to a cosmetic composition containing B vitamins or derivatives thereof.

[0002] In recent years, extensive research has been conducted into skin beauty, such as whitening, wrinkle prevention and improvement, and improvement of rough skin, and many cosmetic compositions containing, for example, B vitamins or derivatives thereof have been developed.

[0003] Among B vitamins or their derivatives, for example, niacinamide has attracted attention as a cosmetic active ingredient having both whitening and anti-wrinkle effects (e.g., wrinkle prevention and wrinkle improvement effects). When a cosmetic composition containing such B vitamins or their derivatives is applied to the skin, it is desired to allow the B vitamins or their derivatives to penetrate into the skin in large amounts to enhance the cosmetic effect.

[0004] For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a cosmetic composition suitable for topical application that enhances the permeability of an active ingredient into the skin and extends the residence time of the active ingredient in the skin, the cosmetic composition comprising: i) glycerin; ii) a lipid bilayer structuring agent having a glyceryl head group; iii) a penetration enhancer; and iv) a skin care active ingredient.

[0005] On the other hand, as mentioned in Patent Document 1, various skin penetration enhancers are known, but their mechanisms of action, particularly in the stratum corneum, are still under investigation, making it difficult to rationally select a penetration enhancer for a given permeating substance.

[0044] In Table 1, the structural formula of the (acryloyldimethyltaurate ammonium / vinylpyrrolidone) copolymer used as the transdermal penetration enhancer is as follows (trade name: Aristoflex AVC, manufactured by Clariant):

[0045]

[0046] In Table 1, the structural formula of the (acryloyldimethyltaurate ammonium / beheneth-25 methacrylate) crosspolymer used as the transdermal penetration enhancer is as follows (l:m=95:5 to 98:2 (molar ratio), product name: Aristoflex HMB, manufactured by Clariant):

[0047]

[0048] In Table 2, the structural formula of the (dimethylacrylamide / sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate) crosspolymer used as the transdermal penetration enhancer is as follows (a:b:c=80:20:0.1 (molar ratio)):

[0049]

[0050] In Table 2, the structural formula of the (sodium acrylate / sodium acryloyldimethyltaurate) copolymer is as follows (product name: SIMULGEL EG, manufactured by Seppic Pharmaceuticals):

[0051]

[0052]

[0053]

[0054] <Evaluation> (Evaluation method) Franz diffusion cell (effective permeation area: 0.79 cm 2 The receiver cell of the PET bottle was filled with 7.5 mL of phosphate buffered saline (also abbreviated as "PBS"), and a skin substitute membrane (Strat-M (registered trademark) (manufactured by Merck)) was placed in the cell and the surface temperature was adjusted to 32°C. Strat-M (registered trademark) is one of the skin substitute membranes widely used for evaluating skin permeability by passive diffusion.

[0055] After hydrating the skin substitute membrane, 10 μL / cm 2 The cosmetic composition of each Example and Comparative Example was applied to the donor cell side in a volume of 100 ml, and then spread over 30 seconds with a spatula.

[0056] Then, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 hours after application of each cosmetic composition, 0.3 mL of the receiver solution was sampled and replenished with the same amount of PBS.

[0057] The sampled receiver was quantified by HPLC to determine the amount of niacinamide permeated over time in each of the cosmetic compositions of Examples and Comparative Examples. The permeation rate (%) of niacinamide was calculated from the obtained permeation rate using the following formula 1: Permeation rate (%) of NA = (permeated amount of NA / applied amount of NA) x 100% (Note: "NA" means niacinamide).

[0058] The transdermal permeability of niacinamide in Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 is shown in FIG. 1, and the transdermal permeability of niacinamide in Examples 5 to 8 and Comparative Example 1 is shown in FIG.

[0059] (Evaluation Results) As is clear from FIGS. 1 and 2, it was found that the cosmetic compositions of Examples 1 to 8 all enhanced the permeation of niacinamide (vitamin B group or derivatives thereof) into the skin compared to the cosmetic composition of Comparative Example 1 (a composition not containing a transdermal penetration enhancer for vitamin B group or derivatives thereof).

[0060] This is believed to be due to the use of the polymer of the present invention as a transdermal penetration enhancer for B vitamins or their derivatives in the cosmetic compositions of Examples 1 to 8. In other words, it was suggested that the polymer of the present invention can be used as a transdermal penetration enhancer for B vitamins or their derivatives.

[0061] Comparative Examples 2 to 5 In Comparative Examples 2 to 5, a low molecular weight compound having a methyltaurine group was blended into a cosmetic composition instead of the polymer of the present invention, and the transdermal penetration of B vitamins or derivatives thereof after 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 hours was evaluated in the same manner as described above.

[0062] The formulations of the cosmetic compositions of Comparative Examples 2 to 5 are shown in Table 3 below.

[0063]

[0064] As a result, none of the cosmetic compositions of Comparative Examples 2 to 5 exhibited any effect of promoting the percutaneous penetration of niacinamide (vitamin B group or its derivatives).
