Description

Stretchable Device

[0001] The present invention relates to a stretchable device.

[0002] A conventional stretchable device is described in Japanese Patent No. 3518023 (Patent Document 1). This stretchable device includes a silver resin pattern provided on an insulating synthetic resin substrate, an insulating resin provided on the silver resin pattern so as to expose a portion of the silver resin pattern, and a fluororesin thin film provided on the exposed portion of the silver resin pattern.

[0003] Patent No. 3518023

[0004] However, in the conventional stretchable devices, migration may occur in the silver resin pattern, particularly when a high load voltage is applied to the silver resin pattern.

[0005] Therefore, an object of the present disclosure is to provide a stretchable device that can suppress migration.

[0006] In order to achieve the above object, a stretchable device according to one aspect of the present invention comprises: a stretchable base material; and a first electrode, a second electrode, and a third electrode provided on the stretchable base material, wherein the ionization tendency of a conductive material that is a main component of the third electrode is smaller than the ionization tendency of a conductive material that is a main component of the first electrode and the ionization tendency of a conductive material that is a main component of the second electrode, and the shortest distance between the first electrode and the third electrode is smaller than the shortest distance between the first electrode and the second electrode.

[0007] According to a stretchable device according to an aspect of the present invention, migration can be suppressed.

[0009] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In each embodiment, differences from previous embodiments will be mainly described. In particular, similar effects resulting from similar configurations will not be mentioned in each embodiment. Among the components in the following embodiments, components not recited in independent claims will be described as optional components. Furthermore, the size and size ratios of components shown in the drawings are not necessarily strict. Furthermore, in each drawing, substantially identical components are assigned the same reference numerals, and duplicated descriptions may be omitted or simplified.

[0010] The present disclosure is particularly effective for circuit boards in which electrodes are formed on a substrate that is prone to moisture absorption, such as a flexible substrate, using a metal that is prone to migration (transfer of metal ions), such as silver or copper. Migration can proceed from the positive electrode to the negative electrode.

[0011] When a substrate with electrodes made of silver, copper, or the like is used in a humid environment, migration may impair its functionality (e.g., short-circuiting between electrodes). To prevent this, a conventional method of covering the electrodes with a protective layer to improve migration resistance has been used. However, in recent years, due to factors such as the miniaturization of circuit boards, the need for finer electrodes, the increasing design voltage due to diversification of applications, and changes in product characteristics to substrate specifications that have poor migration resistance, conventional techniques have sometimes been unable to suppress migration. Furthermore, in medical devices, the materials that can be used as protective layers are limited from the perspective of biocompatibility. Therefore, ensuring migration resistance has become a challenge. The present disclosure aims to solve this problem.

[0012] [First embodiment] (Schematic configuration of stretchable device 1) A schematic configuration of a stretchable device 1 according to a first embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 1 and Fig. 2. Fig. 1 is a schematic perspective view partially showing the stretchable device 1. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along II-II in Fig. 1. In the drawings in this specification, the thickness direction of the stretchable base material is indicated by a double-headed arrow T.

[0013] The stretchable device 1 includes a stretchable base material 10, and a first electrode 21, a second electrode 22, and a third electrode 23 provided on the stretchable base material 10. The stretchable device 1 is used, for example, to be attached to a living body and to measure a biological signal.

[0014] Here, "on the stretchable substrate" does not refer to an absolute direction such as vertically upward as determined by the direction of gravity, but rather refers to the direction toward the outside of the stretchable substrate, between the outside and inside of the stretchable substrate, with the surface of the stretchable substrate as the boundary. Therefore, "on the stretchable substrate" is a relative direction determined by the orientation of the surface of the stretchable substrate. Furthermore, "above" an element includes not only a position directly above the element (on), but also a position above the element, i.e., a position above another object above the element or a position above with a gap (above).

[0015] The stretchable substrate 10 is a sheet- or film-shaped substrate made of a stretchable resin material. Examples of the resin material include thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The thickness of the stretchable substrate 10 is not particularly limited, but from the viewpoint of not inhibiting the stretching of the surface of the living body when attached to the living body, it is preferably 1 mm or less, more preferably 100 μm or less, and even more preferably 50 μm or less. Furthermore, the thickness of the stretchable substrate 10 is preferably 1 μm or more. The shape of the stretchable substrate 10 is not particularly limited. In this embodiment, the stretchable substrate 10 is shaped to stretch in one direction when viewed from the thickness direction T.

[0016] The first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are electrodes for signals. The first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 may be wiring. The shapes of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are not particularly limited. In this embodiment, each of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 is wiring and has a shape extending in one direction. A plurality of each of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 may be provided. Furthermore, the first electrode and the second electrode do not have to be provided on the same plane.

[0017] The first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are formed of a conductive material. The first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 preferably have elasticity. The conductive material of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 may be, for example, a metal foil such as silver, copper, or nickel, or a mixture of a metal powder such as silver, copper, or nickel and an elastomer resin such as epoxy resin, urethane resin, acrylic resin, or silicone resin. When the conductivity of the material is important, the conductive material of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 is preferably silver. This allows the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 to be formed with low resistance.

[0018] The third electrode 23 is an electrode for suppressing migration. The third electrode 23 may be a wiring. A voltage for suppressing migration is applied to the third electrode 23. The third electrode 23 may be used for signals in addition to suppressing migration. The shape of the third electrode 23 is not particularly limited. In this embodiment, the third electrode 23 is plate-shaped. The third electrode 23 may be a dummy electrode through which no signals are transmitted or received.

[0019] The third electrode 23 is made of a conductive material. The third electrode 23 is preferably stretchable. The conductive material of the third electrode 23 is, for example, a material that has migration resistance (in other words, a low ionization tendency), such as carbon or platinum.

[0020] The ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the third electrode 23 is smaller than the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the first electrode 21 and the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the second electrode 22. The "conductive material that is the main component" refers to the element that has the largest abundance ratio (wt %) among the elements that exhibit conductivity contained in the electrode. For example, the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 can both be silver electrodes, and the third electrode 23 can be a carbon electrode. The ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the third electrode 23, i.e., carbon, is smaller than the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the first electrode 21, i.e., silver, and the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the second electrode 22, i.e., silver.

[0021] As shown in FIG. 2 , the shortest distance D1 between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 is smaller than the shortest distance D2 between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. The shortest distance D1 refers to the minimum distance in the opposing direction between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 (in this embodiment, the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10). The shortest distance D2 refers to the minimum distance in the opposing direction between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 (in this embodiment, the left-right direction in FIG. 2). The shortest distances D1 and D2 may be measured in a cross section that is parallel to the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10 and intersects the first electrode 21, the second electrode 22, and the third electrode 23. In this embodiment, the shortest distances D1 and D2 may be measured, for example, in a cross section that passes through the center of the extension direction of the first electrode 21 and is perpendicular to the extension direction of the first electrode 21.

[0022] According to the above configuration, the shortest distance D1 between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 is smaller than the shortest distance D2 between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22, and therefore the strength of the electric field formed between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 is greater than the strength of the electric field formed between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. Therefore, the force of attraction between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 is greater than the force of attraction between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. As a result, migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 can be suppressed. Furthermore, because the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the third electrode 23 is smaller than the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the first electrode 21 and the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the second electrode 22, migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 is suppressed even if the force that attracts the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 becomes larger than the force that attracts the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. This makes it possible to suppress migration that may occur in the stretchable device 1.

[0023] (Detailed Configuration of Stretchable Device 1) Next, the detailed configuration of the stretchable device 1 will be described.

[0024] 1 and 2 , the stretchable substrate 10 has a first main surface 10a. A first electrode 21, a second electrode 22, and a third electrode 23 are provided on the first main surface 10a. The first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are arranged on the same plane. The third electrode 23 is arranged at a position different from the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 in the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10. The stretchable device 1 has insulating layers 30 provided at least between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 and between the second electrode 22 and the third electrode 23.

[0025] Here, "on the first main surface" does not refer to an absolute direction such as vertically upward, which is defined by the direction of gravity, but rather refers to the direction toward the outside of the inside and outside of the stretchable base material, with the first main surface of the stretchable base material as the boundary. Therefore, "on the first main surface" is a relative direction determined by the orientation of the first main surface of the stretchable base material.

[0026] According to the above configuration, the insulating layer 30 can prevent contact between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 and the third electrode 23. That is, the distance between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 can be made sufficiently smaller than when the first electrode 21, the second electrode 22, and the third electrode 23 are arranged on the same plane. This further suppresses migration that may occur in the stretchable device 1. On the other hand, when the first electrode 21, the second electrode 22, and the third electrode 23 are arranged on the same plane, it is difficult to make the distance between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 sufficiently small, taking into account printing bleeding during electrode formation. Furthermore, the insulating layer 30 can suppress short circuits between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 and between the second electrode 22 and the third electrode 23.

[0027] The third electrode 23, the insulating layer 30, the first electrode 21, and the second electrode 22 are laminated in this order from the first main surface 10a side of the stretchable substrate 10. With this configuration, the insulating layer 30 and the third electrode 23 are present between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 and the stretchable substrate 10, which suppresses the penetration of moisture from the stretchable substrate 10 side into the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22, and further suppresses migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22.

[0028] Specifically, the third electrode 23 is provided over the entire first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10. In other words, the third electrode 23 is provided in a plate shape so as to cover the entire first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10. The insulating layer 30 is provided over the entire surface 23a of the third electrode 23 located opposite the stretchable substrate 10 side. In this embodiment, the surface 23a of the third electrode 23 corresponds to the surface located opposite the surface of the third electrode facing the stretchable substrate 10. The insulating layer 30 is provided in a plate shape so as to cover the entire surface 23a of the third electrode 23. The first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are provided on part of the surface 30a of the insulating layer 30 opposite the third electrode 23 side. The first electrode 21 extends along the extension direction of the stretchable substrate 10. The second electrode 22 extends along the extension direction of the stretchable substrate 10. The first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are spaced apart by a minimum distance D2.

[0029] The insulating layer 30 electrically insulates the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 from the third electrode 23. The insulating layer 30 preferably has elasticity. The insulating layer 30 may or may not be water-absorbent. The shape of the insulating layer 30 is not particularly limited as long as it can electrically insulate the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 from the third electrode 23. The insulating material of the insulating layer 30 is not particularly limited as long as it can electrically insulate the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 from the third electrode 23. The insulating material of the insulating layer 30 is, for example, polyester resin.

[0030] (Other Preferred Configurations) Preferably, the polarity of the potential of the first electrode 21 is different from the polarity of the potential of the second electrode 22, and the polarity of the potential of the third electrode 23 is different from the polarity of the potential of the first electrode 21. With this configuration, signals of different polarities can be extracted from the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. When there are multiple first electrodes 21 and multiple second electrodes 22, the first electrodes 21 and the second electrodes 22 may be alternately arranged along a direction perpendicular to the extension direction of the first electrode 21, and the polarity of the potential of the first electrode 21 may be different from the polarity of the potential of the second electrode 22, and the polarity of the potential of the third electrode 23 may be different from the polarity of the potential of the first electrode 21. This makes it possible to extract multiple signals of different polarities from the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22.

[0031] Preferably, the polarity of the potential of the first electrode 21 is negative. In this case, the polarity of the potential of the second electrode 22 is positive, and the polarity of the potential of the third electrode 23 is positive. As described above, because the shortest distance D1 between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 is smaller than the shortest distance D2 between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22, the strength of the electric field formed between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 is greater than the strength of the electric field formed between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. Therefore, with the above configuration, the migration of cations from the second electrode 22 to the first electrode 21 through the insulating layer 30 can be suppressed, thereby suppressing migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. Furthermore, because the polarity of the potential of the third electrode is positive, the migration of cations from the second electrode 22 to the third electrode 23 through the insulating layer 30 can be suppressed. Furthermore, as described above, the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the third electrode 23 is smaller than the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the first electrode 21 and the conductive material that is the main component of the second electrode 22, and therefore, cations are prevented from moving from the third electrode 23 to the first electrode 21 through the insulating layer 30. As described above, with the above configuration, migration that may occur in the stretchable device 1 can be further suppressed.

[0032] In contrast, if the third electrode 23 is not provided, when the polarity of the potential of the first electrode 21 is negative and the polarity of the potential of the second electrode 22 is positive, cations can easily migrate from the second electrode 22 to the first electrode 21 through the insulating layer 30. As a result, migration can occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. Even if the third electrode 23 is provided, if the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the third electrode 23 is the same as or greater than the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the first electrode 21 and the conductive material that is the main component of the second electrode 22, cations can easily migrate from the third electrode 23 to the first electrode 21 through the insulating layer 30. As a result, migration can occur between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23.

[0033] Preferably, the third electrode 23 overlaps the entire first electrode 21 when viewed in the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10. More preferably, the third electrode 23 overlaps the entire first electrode 21 when viewed in the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10, and the planar area of the third electrode 23 is larger than the planar area of the first electrode 21. With this configuration, the third electrode can be easily aligned, and therefore the third electrode 23 can be easily formed. Furthermore, because the first electrode 21 is disposed directly above the third electrode 23, the shortest distance D1 between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 can be made smaller, and migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 can be further suppressed.

[0034] Preferably, the third electrode 23 overlaps the entire first electrode 21 and the entire second electrode 22 when viewed in the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10. More preferably, the third electrode 23 overlaps the entire first electrode 21 and the entire second electrode 22 when viewed in the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10, and the third electrode 23 overlapping the entire first electrode 21 and the third electrode overlapping the entire second electrode 22 are integrated, and the planar area of the third electrode 23 is larger than the combined planar area of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. According to this configuration, for example, the third electrode 23 can be formed in a plate shape so as to cover the entire first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10, and patterning of the third electrode 23 is not required, making it easy to form the third electrode 23. Furthermore, since the first electrode 21 is positioned directly above the third electrode 23, the shortest distance D1 between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 can be made smaller, thereby further suppressing migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22.

[0035] Preferably, a protective layer (not shown) is provided on the insulating layer 30 so as to cover the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. The protective layer is preferably made of an elastic resin material, such as an ionomer resin, a polyester resin, a styrene resin, an olefin resin, an epoxy resin, a urethane resin, an acrylic resin, or a silicone resin. This configuration protects the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 from the external environment. Alternatively, the insulating layer 30 may be disposed so as to cover the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22.

[0036] (Method for manufacturing the stretchable device 1) Next, a method for manufacturing the stretchable device 1 will be described with reference to Figures 3A, 3B, and 3C. Figures 3A, 3B, and 3C are explanatory diagrams for explaining the method for manufacturing the stretchable device 1. Note that, although the following description specifically shows the process conditions, materials used, etc. of the stretchable device 1, the following is merely one example of a method for manufacturing the stretchable device 1, and the method for manufacturing the stretchable device 1 is not limited by the following process conditions and materials used.

[0037] 3A, the third electrode 23 is formed on the stretchable substrate 10 by, for example, screen printing. The stretchable substrate 10 is made of, for example, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The process conditions and materials used are, for example, as follows:

[0038] Third electrode material: Carbon electrode 7105 manufactured by DuPont Stretchable substrate: DUS605_6UVPT (50 μm thick) manufactured by Seedam Printing plate: SP plate (mesh: #500, linear 18 μm, emulsion thickness 11 μm, inner dimensions 280 mm square), pattern area: 150 × 150 mm Printing conditions: Squeegee: Micro squeegee (rubber hardness: 70°), squeegee pressure: 200 N / 160 mm width, squeegee speed: 150 mm / s, squeegee tack angle: 60°, distance: 1.5 mm Drying conditions: Circulating oven 100°C × 30 minutes

[0039] 3B, an insulating layer 30 is formed on the third electrode 23 by, for example, screen printing. The process conditions and materials used are, for example, as follows.

[0040] Insulating layer material: ELECTRODAG 452SS manufactured by Henkel Printing plate: SP plate (mesh: #352, linearity 23 μm, emulsion thickness 17 μm, inner dimensions 280 mm square), pattern area: 150 × 150 mm Printing conditions: Squeegee: micro squeegee (rubber hardness: 70°), squeegee pressure: 200 N / 160 mm width, squeegee speed: 150 mm / s, squeegee tack angle: 70°, distance: 1.5 mm Curing conditions: UV light irradiation; 500 mJ / cm with i-ray (365 nm) 2

[0041] 3C, the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are formed on the insulating layer 30 by, for example, screen printing. The process conditions and materials used are, for example, as follows.

[0042] Electrode material: DuPont silver electrode 5064 Printing plate: SP plate (mesh: #500, linearity 18 μm, emulsion thickness 11 μm, inner dimensions 280 mm square), pattern area: 150 × 150 mm Printing conditions: Squeegee: micro squeegee (rubber hardness: 70°), squeegee pressure: 100 N / 160 mm width, squeegee speed: 150 mm / s, squeegee tack angle: 50°, distance: 1.5 mm Drying conditions: Circulating oven 100°C × 30 minutes

[0043] [Second embodiment] Hereinafter, a stretchable device 1A according to a second embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 4A. Fig. 4A corresponds to the cross section taken along II-II in Fig. 1. The stretchable device 1A differs from the stretchable device 1 according to the first embodiment in the shape of the insulating layer.

[0044] The insulating layer 30A of the stretchable device 1A has a first portion 31 provided between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23, and a second portion 32 provided between the second electrode 22 and the third electrode 23. The first portion 31 and the second portion 32 are spaced apart. In other words, unlike the insulating layer 30 of the first embodiment, the insulating layer 30A is divided into the first portion 31 and the second portion 32. The insulating layer 30A may be divided into three or more portions.

[0045] Specifically, the first portion 31 is provided between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 and electrically insulates the first electrode 21 from the third electrode 23. The first portion 31 extends along the extension direction of the first electrode 21. The second portion 32 is provided between the second electrode 22 and the third electrode 23 and electrically insulates the second electrode 22 from the third electrode 23. The second portion 32 extends along the extension direction of the second electrode 22. The first portion 31 and the second portion 32 are spaced apart at a predetermined interval in the opposing direction of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 (the left-right direction in FIG. 4A ).

[0046] According to the above configuration, the path along which ions move within the insulating layer 30A can be interrupted between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. Therefore, migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 can be further suppressed.

[0047] According to the above configuration, the insulating layers 30A are arranged at intervals on the stretchable substrate 10. This reduces the plane area of the insulating layers 30A compared to when the insulating layers are continuous, thereby further reducing the effect that the insulating layers 30A may have on the stretchability of the stretchable device 1A. Therefore, according to the above configuration, it is possible to obtain a stretchable device with excellent stretchability while suppressing migration with the insulating layers.

[0048] Furthermore, the stretchable device may be attached to, for example, a living body. When used on such a living body, the stretchable device may be required to be breathable to reduce discomfort such as stuffiness when worn. This may be achieved, for example, by using a breathable material for the stretchable substrate 10. On the other hand, in order to suppress migration between electrodes, it is preferable to use a material with low breathability for the insulating layer. Therefore, if the insulating layer is disposed over the entire stretchable device 1A when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10, breathability may be reduced.

[0049] According to the above configuration, the first portion 31 and the second portion 32 of the insulating layer 30A are spaced apart from each other. Therefore, the stretchable device 1A has an area on the stretchable base material 10A where the insulating layer 30A is not provided between the first portion 31 and the second portion 32. This makes it possible to suppress a reduction in the breathability of the stretchable device due to the insulating layer. In other words, a stretchable device with good breathability is realized while suppressing migration with the insulating layer.

[0050] Furthermore, in the first embodiment, a single continuous insulating layer 30 is formed across the entire stretchable device when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10, whereas in the second embodiment, multiple insulating layers with small planar areas are provided. That is, in the stretchable device 1A of the second embodiment, the insulating layer 30A is divided into a first portion 31 and a second portion 32, thereby reducing the area of the continuously provided insulating layer. This makes it possible to more precisely control the film thickness of the insulating layer compared to when a single continuous insulating layer is provided across a wide area. Specifically, this reduces non-uniformity in the thickness of the insulating layer due to printing irregularities and the like, and provides a stretchable device 1A including an insulating layer 30A with a more uniform thickness.

[0051] 4A , the thickness of the insulating layer 30A may correspond to the shortest distance D1 between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23. When the insulating layer 30A has a uniform thickness as described above, the shortest distance D1 between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 becomes more uniform, and therefore migration can be more effectively suppressed.

[0052] When a protective layer 40 is provided to cover the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22, the protective layer 40 may be present in the space between the first portion 31 and the second portion 32 (see FIG. 4B ). This can further suppress migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. Furthermore, by having the protective layer 40 embedded in the space between the first portion 31 and the second portion 32, the protective layer can be suitably held in place by an anchor effect. This can suitably prevent the protective layer 40 from peeling off from the stretchable device 1A.

[0053] [Third embodiment] Hereinafter, a stretchable device 1B according to a third embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 5. Fig. 5 corresponds to the cross section taken along II-II in Fig. 1. The stretchable device 1B differs from the stretchable device 1 according to the first embodiment in the shape of the third electrode.

[0054] The third electrode 23B of the stretchable device 1B has a shape corresponding to the shapes of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. Specifically, the third electrode 23B has a first portion 231 shaped to correspond to the shape of the first electrode 21 and a second portion 232 shaped to correspond to the shape of the second electrode 22. That is, the first portion 231 extends linearly along the extension direction of the first electrode 21. The second portion 232 extends linearly along the extension direction of the second electrode 22. In other words, unlike the third electrode 23 of the first embodiment, the third electrode 23B is divided into the first portion 231 and the second portion 232. The first portion 231 overlaps the first electrode 21 when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10. The second portion 232 overlaps the second electrode 22 when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10.

[0055] According to the above configuration, because the third electrode 23B is divided, the electric field formed between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23B can be concentrated compared to when the third electrode 23B is not divided. Therefore, the force that pulls the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23B against each other is even greater than the force that pulls the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 against each other. As a result, migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 can be further suppressed. Furthermore, because the planar area of the third electrode 23B can be made smaller compared to when the third electrode 23B is not divided, the stretchability of the stretchable device 1B can be improved.

[0056] In the stretchable device, transparent or translucent materials can be used for materials other than the electrodes (i.e., the stretchable substrate 10, the insulating layer 30, and / or the protective layer, etc.). According to the above configuration, the third electrode 23B does not cover the entire first main surface 10a of the transparent or translucent stretchable substrate 10, but is arranged in a region overlapping with the first electrode 21 or the second electrode 22 when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10. In other words, when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10, the stretchable device has electrodes arranged only in a partial region of the first main surface 10a of the transparent or translucent stretchable substrate 10. Therefore, the stretchable device can have a transparent or translucent region in a region not provided with an electrode when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10. This makes it possible to visually confirm the attachment position of the stretchable device through the transparent or translucent region.

[0057] The second portion 232 of the third electrode 23B is preferably provided to reduce unevenness on the top surface of the insulating layer 30 that may be caused by the third electrode 23B, but may not be provided. In this case, the electric field formed between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23B can be further concentrated, thereby further suppressing migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22.

[0058] [Fourth embodiment] Hereinafter, a stretchable device 1C according to a fourth embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 6. Fig. 6 corresponds to the cross section taken along II-II in Fig. 1. The stretchable device 1C differs from the stretchable device 1 according to the first embodiment in the shape of the third electrode.

[0059] The third electrode 23C of the stretchable device 1C does not overlap with the first electrode 21 or the second electrode 22 when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable base material 10. Specifically, the third electrode 23C is provided on a part of the first main surface 10a of the stretchable base material 10. The third electrode 23C extends linearly along the extension direction of the first electrode 21. The third electrode 23C is disposed between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable base material 10.

[0060] According to the above configuration, in a cross section perpendicular to the extension direction of the first electrode 21, the first electrode 21, the third electrode 23, and the second electrode 22 can be alternately arranged in a staggered pattern along a direction perpendicular to the thickness direction T of the stretchable base material, thereby making the stretchability of the stretchable device 1C closer to uniform. In particular, as described above, when the insulating layer 30 is arranged so as to cover the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22, the stretchability of the stretchable device 1C can be made closer to uniform.

[0061] Furthermore, the above configuration allows the thickness of the insulating layer 30 to be reduced. In the above configuration, the third electrodes 23C are arranged alternately with the first electrodes 21 and the second electrodes 22 so as not to overlap with them when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10. In other words, the third electrodes 23C are offset with respect to the first electrodes 21 and the second electrodes 22, thereby allowing the thickness of the insulating layer 30 to be reduced while suitably ensuring the shortest distance D1 between the first electrodes 21 and the third electrodes 23C. Specifically, the insulating layer 30 covering the third electrodes 23C may have a thinner thickness than when the first electrodes 21 and the second electrodes 22 overlap with the third electrode 23C in the thickness direction T (for example, the configuration shown in FIG. 5 ). This allows the stretchable device to be made even thinner.

[0062] When the insulating layer 30 is stretchable, the thickness of the insulating layer 30 in a stretched state may be smaller than the thickness of the insulating layer 30 in a non-stretched state in the cross-sectional view shown in Fig. 6. According to the above configuration, the third electrode 23C does not overlap with the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 when viewed from the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10, and therefore, even if the thickness of the insulating layer 30 is relatively reduced by stretching, contact between the electrodes can be suitably prevented.

[0063] Preferably, in a cross section parallel to the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10 and intersecting the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23C, the cross-sectional area A3 of the third electrode 23C is 105% or less of the cross-sectional area A1 of the first electrode 21. This configuration can improve the stretchability of the stretchable device 1C. More preferably, the cross-sectional area A3 of the third electrode 23C is 100% or less of the cross-sectional area A1 of the first electrode 21.

[0064] Similarly, in a cross section that is parallel to the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10 and intersects the second electrode 22 and the third electrode 23C, the cross-sectional area A3 of the third electrode 23C is preferably 105% or less of the cross-sectional area A2 of the second electrode 22. More preferably, the cross-sectional area A3 of the third electrode 23C is 100% or less of the cross-sectional area A2 of the second electrode 22. The closer the cross-sectional areas of the first electrode 21, the second electrode 22, and the third electrode 23 are to each other, the more uniform the stretchability of the stretchable device 1C can be.

[0065] Preferably, in a cross section parallel to the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10 and intersecting the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23C, the cross-sectional area A3 of the third electrode 23C is 10% or more of the cross-sectional area A1 of the first electrode 21. The cross-sectional area A3 of the third electrode 23C is more preferably 50% or more, and even more preferably 90% or more, of the cross-sectional area A1 of the first electrode 21. With this configuration, the cross-sectional areas of the first electrode 21, the second electrode 22, and the third electrode 23 approach the same, and the stretchability of the stretchable device 1C can be made even more uniform.

[0066] Similarly, in a cross section parallel to the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10 and intersecting the second electrode 22 and the third electrode 23C, the cross-sectional area A3 of the third electrode 23C is preferably 10% or more of the cross-sectional area A2 of the second electrode 22. The cross-sectional area A3 of the third electrode 23C is more preferably 50% or more, and even more preferably 90% or more, of the cross-sectional area A2 of the second electrode 22. If the cross-sectional area A3 of the third electrode 23C is too small, the migration suppression effect may be reduced. By setting the lower limit of the cross-sectional area A3 of the third electrode 23C as described above, migration that may occur between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 can be effectively suppressed.

[0067] Fifth Embodiment A stretchable device 1D according to a fifth embodiment will be described below with reference to Fig. 7. Fig. 7 corresponds to the cross section taken along II-II in Fig. 1. The stretchable device 1D differs from the stretchable device 1 according to the first embodiment in the positional relationship between the first electrode, the second electrode, the insulating layer, and the third electrode.

[0068] The first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are provided on the first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10. The insulating layer 30 is provided on the first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10 so as to cover the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. The third electrode 23 is provided on a surface 30a of the insulating layer 30 opposite the first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10. In this embodiment, the position at which the third electrode 23 is provided is not particularly limited, and for example, the third electrode 23 may be provided below the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22.

[0069] According to the above configuration, the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are covered with the insulating layer 30, and therefore the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 can be protected from moisture that may penetrate from the upper side of the stretchable substrate 10 (the upper side in FIG. 7 ). Furthermore, when the third electrode 23 is provided on the surface 30a of the insulating layer 30, the patterns of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 can be hidden by the third electrode 23. In this configuration, the third electrode 23 can also serve as a protective layer for the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. For example, the third electrode 23 can serve as a protective layer that suppresses moisture from penetrating into the stretchable device 1D from the third electrode 23 side (the upper side in FIG. 7 ).

[0070] [Sixth embodiment] Hereinafter, a stretchable device 1E according to a sixth embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 8. Fig. 8 corresponds to the cross section taken along II-II in Fig. 1. The stretchable device 1E differs from the stretchable device 1 according to the first embodiment in that an insulating layer is not provided and in the position where the third electrode is provided.

[0071] The stretchable substrate 10 has a first main surface 10a and a second main surface 10b facing each other, with the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 provided on the first main surface 10a and the third electrode 23 provided on the second main surface 10b. In this embodiment, electrical insulation between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 and the third electrode 23 can be ensured by the stretchable substrate 10, so no insulating layer 30 is provided.

[0072] According to the above configuration, the manufacturing process can be simplified and manufacturing costs can be reduced because there is no need to provide the insulating layer 30. Furthermore, by adopting a configuration in which the insulating layer 30 is not provided, the overall thickness of the stretchable device 1E can be reduced, and the height of the stretchable device can be further reduced.

[0073] Furthermore, in the above configuration, the shortest distance D1 between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 corresponds to the thickness of the stretchable substrate 10. Therefore, by providing the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 on one main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10 and providing the third electrode 23 on the other main surface 10b, the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 can be uniformly spaced apart by the same dimension as the thickness of the stretchable substrate 10.

[0074] In the above configuration, the third electrode 23 may be a gel electrode. By using the third electrode 23 as a gel electrode, the stretchable device can be easily attached to a living body or the like. In other words, by using the third electrode 23 as a gel electrode, the third electrode 23 can function as an adhesive layer for adhering the stretchable device to a living body or the like. The gel electrode is made of a conductive gel material containing, for example, water, alcohol, a moisturizer, an electrolyte, etc. Examples of such gel materials include adhesive hydrogels.

[0075] [Seventh embodiment] Hereinafter, a stretchable device 1F according to a seventh embodiment will be described with reference to Fig. 9. Fig. 9 corresponds to the cross section taken along II-II in Fig. 1. The stretchable device 1F differs from the stretchable device 1 according to the first embodiment in that an insulating layer is not provided and in the position where the third electrode is provided.

[0076] The first electrode 21, the second electrode 22, and the third electrode 23 are provided on the same plane. Specifically, the third electrode 23, like the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22, is provided on the first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10. The third electrode 23 extends linearly along the extension direction of the first electrode 21. The third electrode 23 is disposed between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. The third electrode 23 is spaced apart from each of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. In this embodiment, since the first electrode 21, the second electrode 22, and the third electrode 23 are provided on the same plane, an insulating layer 30 is not provided.

[0077] According to the above configuration, the manufacturing process can be simplified and manufacturing costs can be reduced because there is no need to provide the insulating layer 30. Furthermore, because there is no need to provide the insulating layer 30, the stretchable device 1F can be made thinner.

[0078] Furthermore, by disposing the third electrode 23 between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22, the third electrode 23 can suitably prevent bleeding of the second electrode 22 from reaching the first electrode 21 during printing. In other words, the third electrode 23 can also contribute to preventing bleeding of the second electrode 22. Therefore, with the above configuration, the distance D2 between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 can be made smaller, and the stretchable device can be made smaller.

[0079] Furthermore, according to the above configuration, the first electrode 21, the second electrode 23, and the third electrode 23 can be arranged by controlling the printing pattern on the first main surface 10a, so that the distance D1 between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 and the distance D2 between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 can be more easily controlled.

[0080] Eighth Embodiment A stretchable device 1G according to an eighth embodiment will be described below with reference to Fig. 10. Fig. 10 corresponds to the cross section taken along II-II in Fig. 1. The stretchable device 1G differs from the stretchable device 1 according to the first embodiment in that the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are stacked so as to sandwich the third electrode 23 and the insulating layer 30 therebetween.

[0081] As shown in FIG. 10 , the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are stacked with the third electrode 23 sandwiched between them. Specifically, the first electrode 21 is provided on the first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10. An insulating layer 30 is provided on the first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10 so as to cover the first electrode 21. The third electrode 23 is provided on a surface 23b (hereinafter also referred to as the second surface 23b) facing the first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10, so as to face the first electrode 21 with the insulating layer 30 sandwiched between them. An insulating layer 30 is further provided on a surface 23a (hereinafter also referred to as the first surface 23a) of the third electrode 23, which is located opposite the second surface 23b. The second electrode 22 is disposed on the insulating layer 30 located on the first surface 23a. The insulating layers are provided between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23 and between the second electrode 22 and the third electrode 23. That is, the third electrode 23 has insulating layers 30 on both sides: a second surface 23b facing the first main surface of the stretchable substrate 10 and a first surface 23a opposite the second surface 23b. In other words, the third electrode 23 is located between two insulating layers 30. As a result, the stretchable device 1G has a structure in which the first electrode 21, the insulating layer 30, the third electrode 23, the insulating layer 30, and the second electrode 22 are stacked in this order on the stretchable substrate 10.

[0082] The arrangement of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 may be reversed. That is, the second electrode 22 may be located between the stretchable substrate 10 and the third electrode 23, and the first electrode 22 may be located on the first surface 23 a side of the third electrode 23.

[0083] According to the above configuration, the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are physically isolated by the third electrode 23, which more effectively prevents migration between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. Furthermore, as described above, the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the third electrode 23 is smaller than the ionization tendency of the conductive materials that are the main components of the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22, which suppresses ion migration between the first electrode 21 and the third electrode 23. Therefore, the above configuration can provide a stretchable device 1G that can suppress the occurrence of migration.

[0084] Ninth Embodiment Hereinafter, a stretchable device 1H according to a ninth embodiment will be described with reference to Figures 11A to 11C. Figures 11A to 11C respectively correspond to the cross section II-II in Figure 1. The stretchable device 1H differs from the stretchable device 1 according to the first embodiment in that in addition to the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22, a fourth electrode 24 and a fifth electrode 25 are further arranged.

[0085] For example, the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 24 are located on the same plane. That is, the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 are provided on the first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10. The insulating layer 30 is provided on the first main surface 10a of the stretchable substrate 10 so as to cover the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22. The third electrode 23 is provided on the second surface 23b side so as to face the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 with the insulating layer 30 interposed therebetween. The fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25 are arranged on the insulating layer located on the first surface 23a side of the third electrode 23. The fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25 may be located on the same plane. That is, the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25 are arranged so as to face the first surface 23a of the third electrode 23 via the insulating layer 30. In the stretchable device 1G′ having such a configuration, the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22, and the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25 are stacked with the insulating layer 30 and the third electrode 23 sandwiched therebetween.

[0086] The ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the third electrode 23 is smaller than the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the fourth electrode 24 and the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the fifth electrode 25. For example, the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25 can both be silver electrodes, and the third electrode 23 can be a carbon electrode. The ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the third electrode 23, i.e., carbon, is smaller than the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the fourth electrode 24, i.e., silver, and the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the fifth electrode 25, i.e., silver.

[0087] Furthermore, the shortest distance D3 between the fourth electrode 24 and the third electrode 23 is smaller than the shortest distance D4 between the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25. The shortest distance D3 refers to the minimum value of the distance in the opposing direction between the fourth electrode 24 and the third electrode 23 (in this embodiment, the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10). The shortest distance D4 refers to the minimum value of the distance in the opposing direction between the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25 (in this embodiment, the left-right direction in FIG. 2). The shortest distances D3 and D4 may be measured at a cross section that is parallel to the thickness direction T of the stretchable substrate 10 and intersects with the fourth electrode 24, the fifth electrode 25, and the third electrode 23. In this embodiment, the shortest distances D3 and D4 may be measured, for example, at a cross section that passes through the center of the extension direction of the fourth electrode 24 and is perpendicular to the extension direction of the fourth electrode 24.

[0088] According to the above configuration, the shortest distance D3 between the fourth electrode 24 and the third electrode 23 is smaller than the shortest distance D4 between the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25. Therefore, the strength of the electric field formed between the fourth electrode 24 and the third electrode 23 is greater than the strength of the electric field formed between the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25. Therefore, ion migration between the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25 is suppressed, and as a result, migration between the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25 can be suppressed. Furthermore, the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the third electrode 23 is smaller than the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the fourth electrode 24 and the ionization tendency of the conductive material that is the main component of the fifth electrode 25. Therefore, migration that may occur between the fourth electrode 24 and the third electrode 23 can also be suppressed. This makes it possible to suppress migration that may occur in the stretchable device 1.

[0089] That is, with the above configuration, multiple electrodes can be stacked while preventing migration between electrodes using the third electrode 23. By using a multi-layer structure with multiple electrodes, the area of the stretchable device can be reduced compared to a structure in which multiple electrodes are arranged on the same plane. Therefore, a more compact stretchable device can be obtained.

[0090] The polarity of the potential of the first to fifth electrodes may be different between the first electrode 21 and the fourth electrode 24, with the second electrode 22, the third electrode 23, and the fifth electrode 25 having the same potential polarity. For example, the polarity of the potential of the first electrode 21 and the fourth electrode 24 may be negative, and the polarity of the potential of the second electrode 22, the third electrode 23, and the fifth electrode 25 may be positive. According to the above configuration, the presence of the third electrode 23 suppresses the migration of metal ions from the second electrode 22 and the fifth electrode 25, which have positive polarity. Therefore, migration can be suitably suppressed even in a stacked stretchable device including a plurality of electrodes.

[0091] The arrangements of the first electrode 21, the second electrode 22, the fourth electrode 24, and the fifth electrode 25 shown in Fig. 8 are interchangeable. Simply put, the first electrode 21, the second electrode 22, the fourth electrode 24, and the fifth electrode 25 are interchangeable in terms of arrangement. For example, as shown in Fig. 11B, the arrangement of the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25 may be reversed compared to the stretchable device 1H of Fig. 11A. That is, electrodes having the same potential polarity may be arranged to face each other across the third electrode 23, or alternatively, electrodes having opposite potential polarities may be arranged to face each other across the third electrode 23.

[0092] Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 11C , the arrangement of the second electrode 22 and the fourth electrode 24 may be reversed compared to the stretchable device 1H of FIG. 11A . Specifically, the first electrode 21 and the fourth electrode 24, which have the same potential polarity, may be located on the same plane, and the second electrode 22 and the fifth electrode 25, which have the same potential polarity, may be located on the same plane on opposite sides of the third electrode 23. In other words, multiple electrodes with the same potential polarity may be located on the same plane, and electrodes with opposite potential polarities may be located opposite each other across the third electrode 23. With this configuration, the third electrode 23 physically blocks the ion migration path between the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 and the fourth electrode 24 and the fifth electrode 25. As a result, the presence of the third electrode 23 prevents ion migration across the third electrode 23, thereby more effectively suppressing migration.

[0093] It should be noted that each embodiment is an example, and the present invention is not limited to each embodiment. Also, each drawing is an example of components, and does not limit the shape. Furthermore, partial substitution or combination of the configurations shown in different embodiments is possible.
