[0009] The embodiments of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. In each drawing, the same or corresponding parts are designated by the same reference numerals. Duplicate descriptions of these parts will be appropriately simplified or omitted.

[0010] Embodiment 1. Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram showing a part of a building to which a notification system in embodiment 1 is applied. Fig. 2 is a top view of a hall to which the notification system in embodiment 1 is applied.

[0011] The elevator system 1 shown in Fig. 1 is installed in a building 2. The building 2 is provided with a plurality of hoistways 3. Each of the plurality of hoistways 3 passes through each floor of the building 2. The elevator system 1 includes a plurality of cars 4. The plurality of cars 4 are provided so as to be able to move up and down within the plurality of hoistways 3, respectively. The plurality of cars 4 are controlled by a plurality of control devices 5, respectively. Fig. 1 illustrates a portion of the plurality of cars 4 and the plurality of control devices 5.

[0012] In the elevator system 1, a group control device 6 performs group control of a plurality of cars 4. The group control device 6 controls the operation of the plurality of cars 4 via a plurality of control devices 5.

[0013] The elevator system 1 includes a notification system 7. The notification system 7 includes a display control device 8. The display control device 8 is capable of communicating with the group control device 6. The display control device 8 acquires operation information of the multiple cars 4 from the group control device 6.

[0014] Inside a building 2 as shown in FIG. 2, multiple landings 9 are provided on each floor of the building 2. FIG. 2 shows one of the multiple landings 9 provided in the building 2. For example, all of the multiple landings 9 have the same structure and are provided with the same facilities. The landing 9 includes two landing entrances 9a, 9b and a landing passage 9c for entering and exiting the landing 9 from another area on the same floor. For example, the two landing entrances 9a, 9b are provided on either side of the inside of the landing 9. The landing passage 9c connects the two landing entrances 9a, 9b. The landing passage 9c passes through the center inside the landing 9.

[0015] Although not directly illustrated, for example, eight cars 4 are provided in the building 2. The first cars 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4d are four of the eight cars 4. The second cars 4e, 4f, 4g, and 4h are four of the eight cars 4 that are not the first cars 4a, 4b, 4c, or 4d.

[0016] 2 shows planar positions of areas through which the cars 4 pass corresponding to a plurality of cars 4 in a cross section taken along a horizontal plane of the landing 9. Specifically, FIG. 2 shows planar passing positions 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e, 10f, 10g, and 10h corresponding to cars 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e, 4f, 4g, and 4h, respectively.

[0017] Level passage positions 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d of the first cars 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d are lined up on one side of the landing passage 9c. Level passage positions 10e, 10f, 10g, 10h of the second cars 4e, 4f, 4g, 4h are lined up on the other side opposite to the one side of the landing passage 9c. Passengers can get on and off from the landing 9 to the first cars 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d and the second cars 4e, 4f, 4g, 4h through corresponding individual entrances and exits.

[0018] The multiple landing doors 11 are provided at individual entrances and exits at level passing positions 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e, 10f, 10g, and 10h in the landing 9. The multiple hall lights 12 are provided near the multiple landing doors 11, respectively. The hall lights 12 have an upward light and a downward light. The upward light is a lamp that indicates that the car 4 is heading upward from the landing 9. The downward light is a lamp that indicates that the car 4 is heading downward from the landing 9. The multiple landing operating panels 13 accept operations for landing calls to the upward or downward direction. For example, the multiple landing operating panels 13 are provided so as to be positioned respectively between the multiple landing doors 11.

[0019] The notification system 7 further includes two display devices 14. The display devices 14 display information on a screen. Specifically, for example, the display devices 14 are liquid crystal displays. The two display devices 14 are a first display device 14a and a second display device 14b. The first display device 14a and the second display device 14b have the same configuration but are mounted at different angles.

[0020] The first display device 14a is attached to the ceiling above the landing passage 9c. For example, the first display device 14a is provided at a midpoint between the two landing entrances 9a and 9b in the horizontal direction. That is, the first display device 14a is provided at a position between the level passage positions 10a, 10b, 10c, and 10d and the level passage positions 10e, 10f, 10g, and 10h. The screen of the first display device 14a faces the landing entrance 9a.

[0021] The second display device 14b is attached to the ceiling above the landing passage 9c. For example, the second display device 14b is provided at a midpoint between the two landing entrances 9a and 9b in the horizontal direction. That is, the second display device 14b is provided at a position between the level passage positions 10a, 10b, 10c, and 10d and the level passage positions 10e, 10f, 10g, and 10h. The screen of the second display device 14b faces the landing entrance 9b.

[0022] The display control device 8, not shown in Fig. 2, displays a notification screen on each of the two display devices 14. The hall light 12 corresponding to the next arriving car 4 flashes. The notification screen shows an arrival sign indicating the position of the next car 4 to arrive at the hall 9 among the multiple cars 4. For example, a user entering through the hall entrance / exit 9a looks at the notification screen on the first display device 14a to confirm the position of the next arriving car 4. The user moves to the front of the hall door 11 corresponding to the car 4 shown on the notification screen.

[0023] Furthermore, in group management control, the next arriving car 4 may be changed to another car 4. In this case, the hall light 12 corresponding to the other car 4 flashes. The user must look for the flashing hall light 12. In this case, the user does not look for the hall light 12, but instead looks at the notification screen of the first display device 14a or the second display device 14b to confirm the location of the other car 4. The user moves in front of the landing door 11 corresponding to the other car 4.

[0024] Next, the notification system 7 will be described with reference to Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a block diagram of the notification system according to the first embodiment.

[0025] As shown in FIG. 3, the display control device 8 includes a storage unit 8a, a communication unit 8b, and a screen creation unit 8c.

[0026] The memory unit 8a stores information necessary for creating a notification screen. Specifically, the memory unit 8a stores, as a map of a certain hall 9, position information of hall entrances 9a and 9b and position information of hall passage 9c. The memory unit 8a stores, as a map of a certain hall 9, information on level passage positions 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e, 10f, 10g, and 10h at the hall 9. The memory unit 8a stores, as a map of a certain hall 9, position information of a display device 14 at the hall 9 and information on the direction in which the screen of the display device 14 is facing.

[0027] The communication unit 8b communicates with external devices. The communication unit 8b acquires operation information from the group management device 6. The communication unit 8b controls the content displayed on the display device 14 by transmitting information on the screen to be displayed.

[0028] The screen creation unit 8c creates information for a notification screen using the information stored in the storage unit 8a and the information acquired by the communication unit 8b. The screen creation unit 8c displays the created notification screen on the display device 14 via the communication unit 8b. For example, the screen creation unit 8c creates information for the notification screen at a specified period and updates the notification screen displayed on the display device 14.

[0029] Next, examples of notification screens will be described with reference to Figures 4 to 7. Figures 4 to 7 are diagrams showing examples of notification screens displayed in the notification system in embodiment 1. Note that in the following figures, reference numerals are assigned to the notification screens for explanatory purposes. These reference numerals do not need to be displayed on the actual notification screens.

[0030] 4 shows a notification screen displayed on the first display device 14a when no call is registered at a certain hall 9. In this case, the notification screen displays information indicating that no call is registered, such as "Please press the button to call an elevator." The notification screen displays a map of the hall 9, showing the relative positions of the hall entrances 9a and 9b and the hall passage 9c. The notification screen displays at-grade passing positions 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e, 10f, 10g, and 10h at the hall 9. The notification screen of the first display device 14a displays a first position, which is the installation position of the first display device 14a at the hall 9. The notification screen of the first display device 14a displays a first current location P1, where a person viewing the first display device 14a is assumed to be currently located. The notification screen of the first display device 14a displays a direction D1, where a person viewing the first display device 14a is assumed to be facing, as a first direction D1 corresponding to the first display device 14a. The first current position P1 and the first direction D1 are determined based on information about the direction in which the screen of the first display device 14a faces, which information is stored in a storage unit 8a (not shown in FIG. 4).

[0031] 5 shows a notification screen displayed on the second display device 14b when no call has been registered. The notification screen of the second display device 14b displays a map of the hall 9 that is substantially the same as the notification screen of the first display device 14a. Furthermore, the notification screen of the second display device 14b displays a second position of the second display device 14b at the hall 9. The notification screen of the second display device 14b displays a second current location P2 where a person viewing the second display device 14b is assumed to be currently located. The notification screen of the second display device 14b displays a direction D2 where a person viewing the second display device 14b is assumed to be facing as a second direction D2 corresponding to the second display device 14b. The second current location P2 and the second direction D2 are determined based on information about the direction in which the screen of the second display device 14b is facing, which is stored in the storage unit 8a (not shown in FIG. 5).

[0032] FIG. 6 illustrates a notification screen displayed on the first display device 14a when a hall call for an upward direction departing from hall 9 is registered. For example, the hall call is registered for the first car 4a. According to the operation information, the first car 4a will arrive at hall 9 next and depart in the upward direction. In this case, the notification screen displays the level passing position 10a corresponding to the first car 4a in color as an arrival indicator for the next arriving car 4. The arrival indicator indicates that the corresponding car 4 will next arrive at hall 9. In this case, the level passing position 10a is colored in a color corresponding to the upward direction as information indicating the traveling direction of the first car 4a. Note that, on the notification screen, the arrival indicator for the next arriving car 4 may be displayed by, for example, flashing the level passing position instead of coloring the level passing area. Furthermore, on the notification screen, the information indicating the traveling direction may be displayed as a graphic such as an arrow or text instead of coloring.

[0033] The notification screen also displays information that a hall call for an upward direction has been registered, such as "We are heading upward. Please wait until we arrive," in association with a color corresponding to the upward direction of travel. The notification screen also displays information that a hall call for a downward direction has not been registered, such as "For downward travel, please press the button to call an elevator."

[0034] 7 shows a notification screen displayed on the first display device 14a when an upward platform call and a downward platform call departing from platform 9 are registered. For example, the upward platform call is registered in the first car 4a. The downward platform call is registered in the second car 4h. That is, according to the operation information, the first car 4a will arrive at platform 9 next and depart in the upward direction. Also, the second car 4h will arrive at platform 9 next and depart in the downward direction.

[0035] In this case, the level passing position 10a corresponding to the first car 4a is displayed in color on the notification screen as an arrival indicator for the next car 4 traveling upward. At this time, the level passing position 10a is displayed in a color corresponding to the upward direction as information indicating the traveling direction of the first car 4a. Also, the level passing position 10h corresponding to the second car 4h is displayed in color on the notification screen as an arrival indicator for the next car 4 traveling downward. At this time, the level passing position 10h is displayed in a color corresponding to the downward direction as information indicating the traveling direction of the second car 4h.

[0036] The notification screen also displays, in association with a color corresponding to the upward direction, that a platform call for an upward direction of travel has been registered, such as "We are coming in the upward direction. Please wait until we arrive." The notification screen also displays, in association with a color corresponding to the downward direction, that a platform call for a downward direction of travel has been registered, such as "We are coming in the downward direction. Please wait until we arrive."

[0037] According to the first embodiment described above, the notification system 7 includes a display device 14 and a display control device 8. The display control device 8 displays a guidance screen on the display device 14. The guidance screen displays the position of the display device 14, the assumed direction in which a person viewing the screen of the display device 14 is facing, and an arrival sign for the next car 4 arriving at the hall 9. The arrival sign is displayed in association with the horizontal passing position of the car 4. By checking the display screen, a user can know his / her relative position at the hall 9, the direction in which he / she is facing, and the position of the next car 4 to arrive. At this time, the user can intuitively know the direction in which he / she should look next based on his / her relative position and the direction in which he / she is facing. Therefore, the notification system 7 allows the user to easily find the position of the next car 4 arriving at the hall 9.

[0038] The arrival sign also displays information indicating the direction in which the next arriving car 4 will depart from the platform 9. This allows users to easily find the car 4 heading in the direction in which they plan to travel.

[0039] Furthermore, the display device 14 is provided at a position between the horizontal passing position where the first cars 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4d pass and the horizontal passing position where the second cars 4e, 4f, 4g, and 4h pass. In this manner, at the platform 9 having a complex structure due to the arrangement of individual entrances and exits to the cars 4, it is difficult for users to find the car 4 they are looking for. According to the first embodiment, at such a platform 9, users can easily find the position of the next car 4 that will arrive at the platform 9.

[0040] If the notification system 7 as disclosed herein is not provided, users may not be able to find the location of the arriving car 4, as shown in the following Figures 8 and 9. Figures 8 and 9 are comparative examples showing a part of a building to which the notification system in the first embodiment is not applied.

[0041] 8, the display control device 8 and the display device 14, which are the notification system 7, are not provided. The first car 4a is the car 4 that will arrive next at the landing 9 and moves upward from the landing 9. The second car 4h is the car 4 that will arrive next at the landing 9 and moves downward from the landing 9.

[0042] A user Ua who has arrived at the landing 9 from the landing entrance / exit 9a wishes to board one of the cars 4 from the landing 9 to travel to a lower floor. However, due to reasons such as the long distance, the user Ua is unable to see the hall light 12 corresponding to the second car 4h. In other words, Ua is unable to find the car 4 that he should board.

[0043] User Ub inputs an upward call from the hall operating panel 13 adjacent to the first car 4c. Based on this call, the hall light 12 corresponding to the first car 4a is turned on. However, user Ub cannot see the hall light 12 corresponding to the first car 4a because it is in user Ub's blind spot, etc. In other words, user Ub cannot find the car 4 that he or she should board.

[0044] The situation shown in Figure 9 is a subsequent situation to that shown in Figure 8. The first car 4a departs in an upward direction after arriving at the landing 9. The second car 4h departs in a downward direction after arriving at the landing 9.

[0045] Because the display of the hall light 12 is difficult to understand, user Uc, who wishes to move to a higher floor, mistakenly boards the second car 4h. User Ua starts moving to the second car 4h after the second car 4h arrives at the landing 9. However, because the timing of starting the movement is delayed, user Ua is unable to board the second car 4h. User Ub does not notice that the first car 4a has arrived, so is unable to board the first car 4a.

[0046] As shown in the above comparative examples, particularly in elevator systems with complex hall structures, there is a risk that users may miss the car they are supposed to board. This situation could be avoided, for example, by providing a hall operating panel at the hall that allows users to specify the destination floor. However, introducing such a hall operating panel incurs costs. Furthermore, existing elevator systems may not be able to accommodate such a hall operating panel. The notification system 7 described in the first embodiment can be introduced into existing elevator systems in place of the hall operating panel. In other words, the notification system 7 can be installed easily and inexpensively.

[0047] The display control device 8 may acquire operation information from multiple control devices 5 instead of from the group control device 6. The display control device 8 may also create operation information for multiple cars 4 by integrating information acquired from multiple control devices 5.

[0048] The display control device 8 may be provided inside the group control device 6 .

[0049] The number of cars 4 included in the elevator system 1 does not have to be eight. The number of first cars and the number of second cars do not have to be four. The number of first cars and the number of second cars do not have to be the same.

[0050] The display device 14 does not have to be provided at all of the landing areas 9. The display device 14 only needs to be provided at at least one of the multiple landing areas 9.

[0051] Next, an example of hardware constituting the display control device 8 will be described with reference to Fig. 10. Fig. 10 is a hardware configuration diagram of the display control device of the notification system according to the first embodiment.

[0052] Each function of the display control device 8 can be realized by a processing circuit. For example, the processing circuit includes at least one processor 100 a and at least one memory 100 b. For example, the processing circuit includes at least one dedicated hardware 200.

[0053] When the processing circuit includes at least one processor 100a and at least one memory 100b, each function of the display control device 8 is realized by software, firmware, or a combination of software and firmware. At least one of the software and firmware is written as a program. At least one of the software and firmware is stored in the at least one memory 100b. The at least one processor 100a realizes each function of the display control device 8 by reading and executing the program stored in the at least one memory 100b. The at least one processor 100a is also referred to as a central processing unit, processing unit, arithmetic unit, microprocessor, microcomputer, or DSP. For example, the at least one memory 100b is a non-volatile or volatile semiconductor memory such as RAM, ROM, flash memory, EPROM, or EEPROM, a magnetic disk, a flexible disk, an optical disk, a compact disk, a minidisk, a DVD, or the like.

[0054] When the processing circuit includes at least one dedicated hardware 200, the processing circuit may be realized, for example, as a single circuit, a composite circuit, a programmed processor, a parallel programmed processor, an ASIC, an FPGA, or a combination thereof. For example, each function of the display control device 8 may be realized by a processing circuit. For example, each function of the display control device 8 may be realized collectively by a processing circuit.

[0055] Some of the functions of the display control device 8 may be realized by dedicated hardware 200, and the other parts may be realized by software or firmware. For example, the function of storing information may be realized by a processing circuit as dedicated hardware 200, and functions other than the function of storing information may be realized by at least one processor 100a reading and executing a program stored in at least one memory 100b.

[0056] In this way, the processing circuitry realizes each function of the display control device 8 using hardware 200, software, firmware, or a combination of these.

[0057] Although not shown, the functions of the control device 5 and the group management device 6 are also realized by processing circuits equivalent to the processing circuits that realize the functions of the display control device 8.

[0058] Embodiment 2. Figure 11 is a diagram showing an example of a notification screen displayed in a notification system in embodiment 2. Note that parts that are the same as or equivalent to parts in embodiment 1 are given the same reference numerals, and a description of these parts will be omitted.

[0059] In the second embodiment, a notification screen is created that indicates the arrival probability of the car 4. The group control device 6, not shown in Fig. 11, calculates the arrival probability, which is an index value indicating the likelihood that each of the multiple cars 4 will next arrive at the hall 9.

[0060] For example, after determining that the first car 4a is the car to be operated upward from the hall 9, the group control device 6 may, depending on the operation status, newly determine that a second car 4f, different from the first car 4a, is the car to be operated upward from the hall 9. The second car 4f, not the first car 4a, will arrive next at the hall 9. The likelihood that such a second car will be operated instead can be calculated in advance.

[0061] After determining the first car 4a as the car to be operated upward from the hall 9, the group control device 6 calculates that the car that is most likely to be dispatched to the hall 9 instead of the first car 4a among the multiple cars 4 is the second car 4f. The group control device 6 also calculates that the car that is second most likely to be dispatched to the hall 9 instead of the first car 4a among the multiple cars 4 is the first car 4d.

[0062] The group control device 6 calculates an arrival probability, which indicates the calculated possibility of dispatching a vehicle, for each of the multiple cars 4. For example, the higher the possibility of dispatching a vehicle, the larger the value of the arrival probability. The group control device 6 calculates an arrival probability in the upward direction and an arrival probability in the downward direction.

[0063] The display control device 8 acquires operation information including information on the arrival probability from the group control device 6. The display control device 8 creates a notification screen that reflects the arrival probability.

[0064] 11 is a notification screen displayed on the first display device 14a when a hall call for an upward direction departing from a certain hall 9 is registered. The notification screen includes at least the same information as in FIG. 6 in the first embodiment. Furthermore, the notification screen displays the arrival probability for the upward direction in association with the horizontal passing position of the car 4.

[0065] At this time, the notification screen displays the arrival probabilities corresponding to several cars 4 with high arrival probabilities in the upward direction. Specifically, for example, the arrival probabilities of three cars 4 with high arrival probabilities in the upward direction are displayed.

[0066] The first car 4a is the car with the highest probability of arrival in the upward direction. In this case, the notification screen displays the level passing position 10a corresponding to the first car 4a in association with the display "Up 1." The display "Up 1" means that the probability of arrival in the upward direction is the highest. At this time, the arrival indicator of the next arriving car 4 is also displayed at the level passing position 10a.

[0067] The second car 4f is the car with the second highest probability of arrival in the upward direction. In this case, the notification screen displays the level passing position 10f corresponding to the second car 4f in association with the display "Up 2." The display "Up 2" means that the arrival probability in the upward direction is second highest.

[0068] The first car 4d is the car with the third highest probability of arrival in the upward direction. In this case, the notification screen displays the level passing position 10d corresponding to the first car 4d in association with the display of "Up 3." The display of "Up 3" means that the arrival probability in the upward direction is the third highest.

[0069] Although not shown, a user who wants to move upward at the landing 9 checks the notification screen to confirm the upward arrival probability of each of the multiple cars 4. The user waits in front of the landing door 11 corresponding to the first car 4a. The group control device 6 then changes the car that will next arrive at the landing 9 from the first car 4a to the second car 4f. In this case, for example, an alarm sounds at the landing 9. The hall light 12 corresponding to the first car 4a is turned off. The hall light 12 corresponding to the second car 4f is turned on. When the user notices that the hall light 12 of the first car 4a has turned off, the user can immediately check the hall light 12 of the second car 4f, which had the second highest arrival probability. The user then waits in front of the landing door 11 corresponding to the second car 4f.

[0070] Although not shown, the notification screen may display the arrival probability for the downward direction in the same way as the arrival probability for the upward direction. For example, the notification screen may display "Down 1," which means that the arrival probability for the downward direction is the highest. Furthermore, there may be cases where the arrival probability for the upward direction and the arrival probability for the downward direction are both large values for one car 4. In this case, the arrival probability for the upward direction and the arrival probability for the downward direction may be displayed in association with each other at the same time at the horizontal passing position of the car 4. Specifically, for example, "Up 2" and "Down 2" may be displayed at the same time at the horizontal passing position 10a.

[0071] According to the second embodiment described above, the guide screen displays, for each car 4, an arrival probability indicating the possibility of the car 4 arriving at the next platform 9. The arrival probability is displayed in association with the horizontal passing position of the car 4. For example, if the car arriving at the platform is changed to another car, users can be notified by a light, sound, or other notification, but it is difficult for them to know which car has been changed to. The notification system 7 allows users to know in advance which car 4 the car 4 arriving at the platform 9 may be changed to next. Therefore, if the car 4 arriving at the platform 9 is changed, users can easily find the changed car 4.

[0072] The display control device 8 may acquire operation information from multiple control devices 5 instead of from the group control device 6. In this case, the display control device 8 may integrate the information acquired from the multiple control devices 5 to create operation information for multiple cars 4. In this case, the display control device 8 may calculate the arrival probability and create operation information that includes the arrival probability.

[0073] The display of the arrival probability is not limited to the manner shown in Fig. 11. For example, the arrival probability may be displayed by a combination of at least one of a graphic, an arrow, and a number.

[0074] As described above, the notification system according to the present disclosure can be used in an elevator system provided with multiple cars.
