HEATING ELEMENT SEALING SYSTEM

Abstract

Sealing systems for electric heating elements are described. In one embodiment, an electric heating element includes a tubular sleeve, an electrical insulator disposed within the tubular sleeve, wherein the electrical insulator includes an end surface recessed with respect to an end of the tubular sleeve, a shaped lining disposed over the end surface to form a water vapor barrier, and a bushing positioned against the shaped lining and at least partially within the tubular sleeve. The shaped lining conforms to and adheres to adjacent surfaces, including at least the bushing / electrical insulator interface.
