[0003] The present disclosure relates generally to a toy water gun and / or accessories therefore having applications in at least the hobbies, toys, and games industry. More particularly, but not exclusively, the present disclosure relates to methods for providing a customizable toy water gun that can utilize many distinct accessories, including but not limited to distinctly shaped water cartridges, quick release mechanisms, sights, pop-on and adjustable nozzles, silencers, fold up shields and stands, gun stocks, and pump action handles. The present disclosure also relates to a water gun, in particular to a toy water gun adapted to create a novel visual effect on firing.BACKGROUND

[0005] Children love toys, games, and activities. For children, toys, games, and activities are more than just fun. Most provide at least some opportunity for children to learn. The best toys engage the senses and spark imaginations. The best activities encourage children to interact with others and teach teamwork.

[0006] In 1982 Air Force and NASA engineer Lonnie Johnson conceived of the idea of a pressurized water gun after shooting a powerful stream of water in his bathroom while performing experiments for a new type of refrigeration system. Several months later he built a prototype in his basement, using Plexiglas, PVC pipe, O-ring seals and a two-liter soda bottle for the reservoir.

[0007] Johnson first conceived the Super Soaker while doing work with the U.S. Air Force. Initially called the “Power Drencher” when it first appeared in toy shops in 1990, it eventually got its trademark name after some tweaks and remarketing. The Super Soaker took off, generating millions in sales in 1991.

[0008] However, over the years the novelty of toy water guns has declined, and many feel modern toy water guns do not have the quality they use to have. Thus, there exists a need in the art for an apparatus which incorporates new features for enhancing play with toy water guns with great quality.

[0009] It is often a challenge for creators of games and activities to garner the attention of a child while still creating a strong emotional connection thereto. Often times, solutions in the art rely solely on the use of screen-time. Think video games, phone apps, and the like. It is however known children who spend too much time with screen-time activities score lower on language and thinking tests, and in extreme cases, screen-time can cause thinning of the brain's cortex, the area of the brain related to critical thinking and reasoning. It is thus essential that children remain engaged in outdoor activities, such as playing with toys to foster imagination and creativity, exploring, and playing with other children to develop appropriate social skills, without the overreliance on electronic technology.

[0010] Water guns as known from the prior art are conventionally used during leisure activities in particular during joint activities of several persons. Conventionally, said water guns are dimensioned such that they can be hand-held by a person using it, and are adapted to eject a liquid volume in a directed manner in order to wet an object or another person. The liquid will usually be water, colorized water or the like.

[0011] For example, U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,706,848; 10,969,193; 11,624,582; and U.S. Pre-grant Pub. No. 2023 / 0175810 all disclose water guns with various loading and firing mechanisms to take up and eject amounts of water.SUMMARY

[0012] From a very early age, children are eager to learn more about the world around them. Every new shape, color, texture, taste, and sound presents an opportunity to learn more. Parents quickly identify giving their children toys that are safe and stimulating will help their children discover their senses. Toys such as water guns are great for developing a child's tactile senses, as they allow the child to experience the warmth of a hot summer day, to exercise with excellent neurokinetic benefits, to compete with one another outside of the context of organized sports, and develop tactical and imaginative creativity. Toy water guns with contrasting colors are fascinating to children and stimulate their developing vision. As the children grow, teenagers and parents alike can chaperone toy water gun fights of their younger relatives to further bond with their younger relatives.

Previous developments in this field have been directed at doing so by increasing the energy with which the liquid volume is ejected toward the intended target, in order to create a greater impact on the target when a successful shot is made. The present disclosure addresses a need in the art improve the visual experience created by the gun, which has the advantage of being harmless to the target if they are vulnerable or sensitive, such as a young child.

[0017] It is a further object, feature, and / or advantage of the present disclosure to provide a water gun comprising a trigger mechanism, a liquid source, and a nozzle arrangement, wherein the water gun is adapted to eject liquid from the liquid source via the nozzle in a forwards direction on actuation of the trigger mechanism, and the gun comprises a barrel element extending rearwardly from the nozzle toward the trigger mechanism, the barrel element being translucent and the gun containing at least one light-emitting source arranged to illuminate at least part of the barrel element from within.

1. A toy water gun comprising:a handle comprising a grip and a trigger;a frame comprising a barrel, the frame comprising:at a first end, a quick-connect system for attaching to one or more external accessories thereto;at a second end opposite the first end, a fluidic output that is capable of delivering water from the barrel to the atmosphere;at a top surface, an aperture for allowing water into an internal fluidic cavity within said frame, said internal fluidic cavity being fluidly connected to said barrel; andat a lower surface, a water cartridge seat that allows for external attachments to be secured thereto; anda pressurized mechanism for delivering the water from the internal fluidic cavity, and through the barrel so that the water can exit the toy water gun when the trigger is pulled.

The toy water gun of claim 1, wherein the internal quick-connect system for attaching the one or more external accessories thereto comprises (i) an internal guide that attaches to an external track of the one or more external accessories, or (ii) an internal track that allows for an external guide of the one or more external accessories to attach thereto.

3. The toy water gun of claim 2, wherein the one or more external accessories comprises an extended gun stock.

4. The toy water gun of claim 1, wherein the fluid output comprises an external quick-connect system that allows for attachment to the one or more accessories selected from the group consisting of: threads, a guide, a track, a coupler, a camlock fitting, a clamp, and a hook.

5. The toy water gun of claim 1, further comprising a plugging mechanism that can placed into the aperture in the top surface and establish a watertight seal between the internal fluidic cavity and the atmosphere, wherein the plugging mechanism comprises a gummy gasket or a cork.

6. The toy water gun of claim 1, wherein the pressurized mechanism comprises a pump action handle, which when pulled outwardly creates a negative pressure to pull in the water to a pump body, wherein the water flows through a screen to filter out debris before being sucked into the pump body.

The toy water gun of claim 1, wherein:when the trigger is pulled, at least one check valve opens, and compressed air pushes the water out of a muzzle of the barrel; andthe trigger actuates a positive displacement pump shaft, and the at least one manually controlled valve that utilizes a small ball bearing to draw the water into the internal fluidic cavity.

8. The toy water gun of claim 1, further comprising a sight affixed to the top surface of the frame; wherein the sight emulates an element selected from the group consisting of: a scope, an iron sight, and a red dot sight.

The toy water gun of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of water cartridges that can be attached to the frame at the top surface and at the water cartridge seat, wherein (i) one of the plurality of water cartridges attaches to the frame at the top surface such that it is fluidly connected to the internal fluidic cavity and (ii) the plurality of water cartridges are stackable.

10. The toy water gun of claim 1, further comprising an adjustable nozzle which comprises a plurality of settings that allow for the user to alter a flow rate or a spray pattern of the water being delivered to the atmosphere, wherein the adjustable nozzle comprises a pop-on tip.

The toy water gun of claim 10, wherein:the adjustable nozzle comprises a pop-on tip;the adjustable nozzle is rotatable to achieve said plurality of settings and the adjustable nozzle snaps to pre-set internals, the pre-set intervals being radially and symmetrically arrayed on the adjustable nozzle; orthe adjustable nozzle includes more than one aperture that can deliver the water to the atmosphere.

12. The toy water gun of claim 1, further comprising a barrel extension that attaches to the frame at the second end.

13. The toy water gun of claim 12, wherein the barrel extension comprises a double barrel muzzle.

14. The toy water gun of claim 1, further comprising a second grip that allows for stabilization of the toy water gun through a two-handed grip, wherein the second grip is located at a more forward location than the second end of the frame.

The toy water gun of claim 1, further comprising a silencer that reduces the sound of water expulsion by trapping and cooling the water, which is expanding, and / or gas that is released from the muzzle, wherein the silencer is located at a more forward location than the second end of the frame.
