[0006] The present invention generally relates to miniature replica kits for children's play. More specifically, the present invention relates to a kit for creating a miniature replica of an appliance, a spa, a lifestyle or a molding experience.Background of the Invention

[0007] Do-It-Yourself (DIY) toys and collectibles are frequently used to construct models of real-life objects or toys. Many of these toys utilize curable resins in conjunction with a mold that is designed to expel the cured resin to produce the finished toy or component. The resin is therefore designed to be separated from the underlying mold and does not adhere to the underlying mold, limiting designs which may rely on a composite of curable and non-curable solid elements.

[0008] Additionally, physical limitations associated with resins and the curing process prevent the creation of certain types of objects. Whether the resin is heat cured or cured via other means, such as ultraviolet light, direct exposure to the curing catalyst is required to set the resin. As a result, molds and molding surfaces are designed in a largely flat shape to enable exposure of the surface area of the resin to heat or light and cure the resin. Additionally, in the case of heat cured resins, an oven or other heating device is required, which can introduce safety risks to users.

[0009] There are currently no DIY toys or collectibles that enable construction of sophisticated models of objects that utilize a composite of both cured elements and non-cured elements. Accordingly, improvements are needed in systems and kits for DIY creation of sophisticated models and collectibles in a variety of shapes.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0010] Reference is now made to provisional application 63 / 741,006 filed on Dec. 31, 2024, which is incorporated in full by this reference. The figures described herein below are now in regard to the '006 provisional application and relate to MGA's Miniverse Make It Mini line of products. It is understood by those skilled in the art that teachings and / or features from one product line may be incorporated into a different product line, as the teachings and / or features are not limited specifically to the individual product lines being described herein. Generally, the products disclosed herein are not suitable for kids under 8 years of age and adult supervision is required. Additionally, all ingredients, resin and parts described herein are not edible.Appliances (FIGS. 1-67):

[0011] The various embodiments of this line of products are referred to herein as the “appliances” product line. The packaging of this embodiment of the present invention resembles a ball, which can be described as spherically shaped. Inside the packaging ball are various components that make up a miniature kit that can be played with by the customer. The packaging ball is comprised of two plastic halves that each form a half of the ball shape. For mass production plastic (i.e., polymer) is the material of choice for the packaging ball, but those skilled in the art understand that the plastic could be replaced with metal, composites, polymers or various combinations thereof. Each half of the ball is configured to attach to the other half of the ball thereby securing a plurality of items inside the packaging ball. In this embodiment the halves are configured to snap together with an interference fit using an annular snap ring on one half and corresponding annular channel on the other half but could be designed to screw together utilizing a male and female threaded engagement feature.

[0012] The packaging ball may have at least one flat spot configured to prevent the packaging ball from rolling away. This particular embodiment has two flat spots oppositely disposed, one flat spot for each half of the ball that is centered about the semi-sphere. Therefore, each half of the ball may be opened and placed upon a flat surface without the balls rolling away. The flat spots are large enough to prevent the ball halves from rolling away but do not significantly reduce the volumetric capacity of the packaging ball. In this embodiment, the distance between the flat spots is about 4 inches whereas the diameter of the packaging orb is 4.5 inches. It is understood by those skilled in the art that different sizes of packaging balls may be created, as these particular dimensions are not intended to limit the disclosure of this invention.

[0013] A shrink wrap cover with various branding and graphics is on the outside of the packaging ball and keeps two halves of the ball from separating apart during shipment and display to the customer. The shrink wrap covering is comprised of two cylindrical portions disposed perpendicular to another one and shrunk to match the ball shape, such that the two shrink wrap coverings fully enclose the packaging ball. The second shrink wrap covering partially overlaps the first shrink wrap covering. In this embodiment, the first shrink wrap covering directly abutting the packaging ball is disposed fully around the separation line of the two halves of the plastic packaging ball. It is understood by those skilled in the art that the first shrink wrap covering may be disposed 90 degrees from its current position and thereafter the second shrink wrap covering disposed perpendicular to the first shrink wrap covering. Either of the shrink wrap coverings may include an indicia as to the packaging balls contents. For example, in this embodiment, the first shrink wrap covering may have the indicia “Boba”, “Espresso”, “Juice”, or “Soda” to indicate the particular theme of the contents. A customer may then view at least part of the first or second shrink wraps and determine whether they want to purchase that particular product as they know the contents inside. Even when a particular ball has a specific indicia indicating its physical contents, the colors of these objects may still be unknown such that a customer can then be surprised as to the colors of the various components inside the packaging ball.

[0014] Currently, there are four different physical embodiments that are packaged into the ball, which as previously mentioned are the boba, espresso, juice and soda embodiments. It is understood by those skilled in the art that other embodiments are possible as these four examples are currently the embodiments being marketed and sold in the marketplace at this time. Each embodiment has an appliance component that is a miniature replica of an actual appliance used in restaurants and the like. As best seen in FIG. 2, at the top of the picture there are two colors of a soda dispensing appliance. In the middle level on the left there are two colors of a juice dispensing appliance. In the middle level on the right there are two colors of a boba dispensing appliance. On the lower level there are two colors of an espresso dispensing machine.

[0015] A commonality among all the appliance products is that each kit comes a resin in a bottle that can be dispensed and then cured under UV (ultraviolet) light. The UV-curable resin is packaged in a bottle that is made from an opaque material to prevent UV light penetrating during shipping and handling from prematurely curing the resin inside the resin bottle. Here, the bottle is black in color and then a shrink wrap with graphics and information is disposed overtop. The bottle has a top that can be screwed off. The bottle top could also configured with a friction fit or other means of attachment.

[0016] In previous similar products, the resin would cure under a light having a wavelength of 395 nanometers. Now, the resin is configured to cure under light having a wavelength of 365 nanometers. Ultraviolet radiation, also known as simply UV light, is electromagnetic radiation of wavelengths of 10-400 nanometers, shorter than that of visible light, but longer than X-rays.

[0017] When the resin bottle is opened, the bottle can then be placed inside at least one of the resin dispensing appliances. The resin dispensing appliance has a removable inner liner that comes into contact with the resin. The removable liner aids in cleaning the resin from the dispenser once dispensing the resin is finished. The liner is made from a non-stick plastic, such as polypropylene or the like. Furthermore, each resin dispensing appliance has a manually actuated valve that be opened or closed by the customer. For example, the resin dispenser can include a translatable valve that is biased with a spring into the closed valve position, such as is done with the juice, boba and soda resin dispensing appliances. When a customer presses a button attached to the valve, the valve will be opened and resin can then flow therethrough. The resin dispensing appliance may also have a rotatable valve that can be rotated opened or closed as is done with the espresso resin dispensing appliance.

[0018] During development of the product, once the bottle was placed opened and upside down inside its associated resin dispensing appliance, the resin's viscosity was too low such that securing the bottle directly upside down resulted in too fast of a flow rate for use by the customer. To slow the flow rate through the resin dispensing appliance, the appliance is configured to secure the resin bottle upside down but at an angle that is not perpendicular to the ground. For example, the resin bottle is tilted anywhere from 5 to 45 degrees from straight up and down, i.e., from a vertical position. The more the resin bottle is tilted, the slower the flow rate will be. In the embodiments shown herein the bottle is tilted about 30 degrees from straight up and down when upside down. Furthermore, to slow the flow of resin the valve that is being opened can be configured to be partially opened and not fully opened as is shown in FIGS. 50 and 51, with FIG. 51 showing the valve button being fully depressed where the valve is not fully opened. In this manner the valving, bottle tilt and viscosity of the resin all work together to achieve the desired flow rate for the customer.

[0019] Inside each packaging ball are three main packaging subassemblies and other various inserts such as an instruction pamphlet and / or various other flat inserts, such as paper coasters, stickers and the like. To fit within the packaging ball, each packaging subassembly has a circular-shaped perimeter that is configured to fit inside the packaging ball. Thus, the circular shape can be understood as extending in the X-Y plane. Each subassembly then has volume in the Z direction while still fitting within the outer constraints of the spherically shaped packaging ball. It is noted that the volume in the Z direction may extend from just one side or extend in the Z direction on both sides such that volume is created in the positive and negative Z direction.

[0020] There is a middle-disposed packaging subassembly that generally resides within the middle / center of the packaging ball and therefore has the largest perimeter / diameter. On each side of the middle-disposed packaging subassembly is a top (i.e., first) and a bottom (i.e., second) package subassembly. FIG. 47 shows the various parts removed from the white plastic bottom and clear plastic top. Now one can see that each dispensing appliance has an attachable bottom stand, a lid and the resin dispensing appliance has a removable liner.

This allows the two dispensing appliances to be either locked together or placed separate from one another. In fact, a series of appliances may be attached in this manner. [0025] It is also worth noting that the top and bottom package subassembly is generally flat along the removable sealed top. The depth of the product contained therein extends in the Z direction only within the depth of the white plastic bottom. In other words, one side is flat and the other side is not flat. This allows conformity among all the product lines such any reconfiguration is possible. In other words, the space utilized within each packaging ball is the same such that different packaging subassemblies could be devised or exchanged with another and the overall packaging configurations would still work as designed.

This design is quite unique in that when a customer pulls on the clear rolled plastic film, stickers are dispensed on the other side of the appliance such that the stickers are manipulated to easily extend from the clear rolled plastic film. This is achieved by manipulating the clear plastic film through a series of turns (i.e., curvatures) such that the sticker is configured to come off in an easy manner. The plastic film along the roll can be viewed as a first curvature of the film. Then, the white extension that partially extends slightly less than halfway across the film creates a second curvature of the film. Finally, the gray bar extending all the way across the appliance creates a third curvature of the film. In this manner the circular stickers do not stick along the third curvature of the film and extend outwardly and thus are easy to take off and apply to the lids of the boba containers.

Here, the packaging ball is made from just two parts - a first part being a lower half that forms a miniature bathing tub and a relatively smaller second part that forms a removable top. When the removable top is placed upon the bathing tub, the overall shape is generally ball (i.e., spherical) shaped. However, in this embodiment the center diameter of the bathing tub is cylindrical in shape but could be spherical or other various shapes such as hexagonal and the like. Inside the packaging ball are a multitude of feet that can be attached to the bottom of the bathing tub thus better simulating a bathing tub. Claims

1. A miniature replica kit resembling a full-sized drink and / or a food dispensing appliance, comprising:a curable resin contained within a resin container; anda resin dispensing appliance;wherein the resin dispensing appliance is a miniature replica of the full-sized drink and / or food dispensing appliance;wherein the resin dispensing appliance includes a resin receptacle in fluidic communication with a manually actuated valve disposed at a bottom of the resin receptacle;wherein the curable resin is configured to be disposed within the resin receptacle; andwherein the curable resin is configured to be dispensed through the manually actuated valve when actuated by an end user.

2. The miniature replica kit of claim 1, wherein the curable resin is an ultraviolet light curable viscous resin.

3. The miniature replica kit of claim 2, wherein the ultraviolet light curable viscous resin is configured to cure under ultraviolet light having a wavelength of 365 nanometers.

4. The miniature replica kit of claim 1, including a miniature replica of a cup or a bowl, wherein the curable resin is configured to be disposed within the resin receptacle and be dispensed through the manually actuated valve when actuated by the end user into the miniature replica of the cup or the bowl.

5. The miniature replica kit of claim 4, wherein the miniature replica of the cup or the bowl is transparent allowing ultraviolet light to pass therethrough.

6. The miniature replica kit of claim 1, wherein the resin container is not transparent and is configured to block ultraviolet light from passing therethrough.

7. The miniature replica kit of claim 4, including at least one miniature replica ingredient item.

The miniature replica kit of claim 7, wherein the curable resin and the at least one miniature replica ingredient item are configured to be disposed in the miniature replica of the cup or the bowl and thereafter solidify when exposed to ultraviolet light attaching the curable resin and the at least one miniature replica ingredient item forming a cured composite miniature replica food item.

9. The miniature replica kit of claim 1, wherein the resin dispensing appliance includes an inner liner configured to be removable from the resin dispending appliance.

10. The miniature replica kit of claim 9, wherein the inner liner is made from polypropylene.

11. The miniature replica kit of claim 9, wherein the inner liner is configured to receive the curable resin while still contained within the resin container when a lid of the resin container is opened.

12. The miniature replica kit of claim 11, wherein the inner liner is configured to receive the resin container and hold the resin container upside-down at an angle from 5 to 45 degrees relative to a vertical position.

The miniature replica kit of claim 7, including an ingredient dispensing appliance, wherein the ingredient dispensing appliance is a second miniature replica of another full-sized drink and / or food dispensing appliance, wherein the ingredient dispensing appliance includes an ingredient receptacle in fluidic communication with a second manually actuated valve disposed at a bottom of the ingredient receptacle, wherein the at least one miniature replica ingredient item is configured to be disposed within the ingredient receptacle.

14. The miniature replica kit of claim 13, wherein the resin dispensing appliance and the ingredient dispensing appliance are configured to attach to one another in a side-by-side arrangement.

15. The miniature replica kit of claim 13, wherein the resin dispensing appliance and the ingredient dispensing appliance are integrally formed as a combination dispensing appliance during manufacture.

16. The miniature replica kit of claim 13, wherein the at least one miniature replica ingredient items are ice or boba, the ice or the boba being a non-curable element.
