[0041] Detailed description
[0042] To make the objectives, technical solutions, and advantages of the embodiments of the present disclosure more clear, the technical solutions in the embodiments of the present disclosure will be clearly and completely described below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. [0043] The present application will be further described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and examples. It should also be noted that, for ease of description, only portions relevant to the invention are shown in the accompanying drawings.
[0044] It should be noted that, in the absence of conflict, the embodiments and features of the embodiments in this application can be combined with each other. The present application will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and in combination with the embodiments.
[0045] The inkjet printing process requires the pre-fabrication of a pixel definition layer (PDL) on the substrate's electrodes to precisely control the flow of ink droplets into designated R / G / B sub-pixel areas. With traditional pixel structures, intra-pixel film uniformity decreases as resolution (255ppi) increases and pixel openings become smaller, impacting product lifespan and quality. Furthermore, due to limitations in the printer's printhead hardware, the stability of each printhead cannot guarantee consistent volume within each pixel. Even with hybrid printing algorithms, Suji Mura (a type of display unevenness caused by inconsistent ink volume between nozzles) cannot be avoided. Finally, high-resolution products require higher printing precision, with increasingly stringent requirements for both the short and long sides of the pixels. This necessitated the development of a new pixel structure, Line Bank. This structure allows for interflow of ink within each column of identically colored sub-pixels, averaging the ink within each sub-pixel, reducing variations in ink volume within the sub-pixel and improving print uniformity due to the influence of ambient air. Furthermore, Line Bank reduces the precision requirements of printer hardware. Currently, two types of Line Bank are commonly used in the industry: double-layer Line Bank and single-layer Line Bank (Half Tone). Single-layer Line Bank is generally not considered due to material limitations.
[0046] In the current Line Bank technology verification, it was found that the lyophilic pixel definition layer was thinner in the process (0.4-06μm), which was helpful for ink circulation. However, due to the characteristics of the lyophilic material, it is currently impossible to apply the glue to the target thickness in one go. The current main process thickness is relatively stable at 2.2μm, and it needs to pass through half tone (Half Tone). As the thickness of the pixel definition layer decreases, the uniformity becomes worse and worse, and the unevenness becomes more and more. The main reason is that Half Tone requires the exposure machine to have good light stability and a small exposure window.
[0047] 1 to 3 , this embodiment provides a display panel, including a back plate 1 , on which a flat layer 2 is provided;
[0048] A pixel definition layer setting area is provided on the flat layer 2, and the pixel definition layer setting area includes a lyophilic area B and a lyophobic area A. The lyophilic area B and the lyophobic area A are arranged in a crisscross pattern. The flat layer 2 is provided with a groove 21 at the location of the lyophilic area B. A lyophilic pixel definition layer 3 is provided in the groove 21, and a lyophobic pixel definition layer 4 is provided in the lyophobic area A.
[0049] The display panel provided in this embodiment has a pixel defining layer arranged on the flat layer 2, and a groove 21 structure is set at the position of the lyophilic area B of the pixel defining layer. The lyophilic pixel defining layer is arranged in the groove 21, so that the process window of its lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is greatly increased, and the film thickness uniformity of the corresponding lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is improved. The fluidity of the ink of the pixels in the same column of the formed pixel defining layer is improved, thereby reducing the display unevenness, reducing the risk of overflow and color cross-talk, and improving the display quality.
[0050] As shown in FIG3 , the pixel defining layer on the display panel is formed by crisscrossing lyophilic materials and lyophobic materials. The lyophobic material is set higher, and ink flow channels are formed in columns between adjacent lyophobic materials. Dropping ink in the ink flow channels can make the ink of each sub-pixel be averaged, reduce the difference in ink volume of the sub-pixels, and improve the uniformity of the printed film. Among them, the pixel defining layer is formed by lyophilic materials and lyophobic materials. The lyophilic material forms the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 shown in FIG3 , and the lyophobic material forms the lyophobic pixel defining layer 4 shown in FIG3 . Pixel boundaries of different thicknesses are arranged in a circle. The thickness of the defining layer, especially the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3, determines whether the printing ink can flow smoothly and whether the thickness of the formed inkjet printing layer is relatively uniform. Generally, the thickness of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 needs to be set thinner to facilitate the circulation of ink. However, the current process generally sets the thickness of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 to be about 2.2 microns. The process is relatively stable, the thickness of the formed lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is uniform, the corresponding ink circulation is also smoother, and the thickness of the formed inkjet printing layer is also uniform. Therefore, the thickness of the set pixel defining layer needs to meet the two aspects of being conducive to ink circulation and easy to prepare.
[0051] As shown in Figure 2, the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 provided is not only arranged above the flat layer 2, but also arranged in the groove 21 opened on the flat layer 2. The thickness of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is thickened by the set groove 21, but the thickness of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 exceeding the flat layer 2 can still meet the thinner standard and facilitate the circulation of ink.
[0052] Furthermore, the orthographic projection of the groove 21 on the back plate 1 is not smaller than the set orthographic projection of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 on the back plate 1 .
[0053] A lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 needs to be set on the display panel provided in this embodiment. The structure has a certain width and length. In this embodiment, a groove 21 is set on the flat layer 2 to accommodate the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3. The groove 21 needs to be set slightly larger than the set width and length of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3, and at least cover the set structure size, so that the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 formed in the groove 21 can meet the required size requirements.
[0054] Furthermore, the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is arranged higher than the flat layer 2 by a height H1, wherein 0.6 μm ≥ H1 ≥ 0.3 μm.
[0055] The lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 provided in this embodiment needs to be set at a certain height exceeding the flat layer 2. The lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 exceeding the height needs to be set thinner, and can be set to a thickness that facilitates the circulation of ink. The lyophilic pixel defining thickness can be optionally set between 0.6 microns and 0.3 microns. Since the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is partially provided in the groove 21, the overall thickness can be set thicker and the thickness exceeding the flat layer 2 can be set to a desired thickness at any time. The lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 facilitates the circulation of ink, and the thickness of the formed inkjet printing layer is uniform, the display panel is uniform, and the display quality is stable.
[0056] Furthermore, the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is set to have a thickness of H2, wherein 3 μm ≥ H2 ≥ 2 μm.
[0057] As shown in Figure 1, the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 provided in this embodiment is arranged in the groove 21 on the flat layer 2. The thickness of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is increased by the groove 21, so that the thickness of the structure can be within the range of process stability. The thickness of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 can be optionally set to 2-3 microns, and the optional setting thickness is 2.2 microns. The process thickness is relatively stable, and the thickness of the formed lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is stable. No other process is required to meet the thickness of the above-mentioned lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 exceeding the flat layer 2, so that the preparation of the structure can be carried out under a stable process while also meeting the effect of facilitating ink circulation that can only be met by a thinner thickness. According to the thickness of the above-mentioned lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 and the thickness of the pixel defining layer exceeding the flat layer 2, it can be seen that the depth of the groove 21 of the flat layer 2 is the value of H2-H1, which is generally 2.4μm-1.7μm.
[0058] Optionally, a pixel electrode 5 is provided between adjacent lyophilic areas B and adjacent lyophobic areas A.
[0059] As shown in FIG2 , pixel electrodes 5 are provided between adjacent lyophilic areas B and lyophobic areas A. As shown in FIG3 , pixel electrodes 5 are provided at intervals between the lyophilic areas B and lyophobic areas A that are staggered in a crisscross pattern.
[0060] Optionally, the lyophobic pixel defining layer 4 has a thickness of H3, wherein 1.5 μm ≥ H3 ≥ 1 μm.
[0061] The display panel provided in this embodiment forms channels for ink to flow through the lyophobic pixel defining layer 4 . The thickness of the lyophobic pixel defining layer 4 can be optionally set to be between 1 micron and 1.5 microns.
[0062] Furthermore, the liquid-phobic pixel defining layer 4 includes a plurality of first portions arranged along a first direction, and at least two second portions arranged along a second direction. A through area 6 is formed between adjacent first portions, and the through area 6 is used to accommodate ink droplets.
[0063] As shown in Figure 3, the lyophobic pixel defining layer 4 includes a portion extending along the y-axis direction, and a lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is provided between adjacent lyophobic pixel defining layers 4. The lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 extends along the x-axis direction. The height of the lyophobic pixel defining layer 4 is higher than the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3. A through area is formed between the lyophobic pixel defining layers 4 to accommodate ink. A corresponding lyophobic pixel defining layer 4 is also provided on the outermost side of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 to intercept the printed ink.
[0064] Furthermore, the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is disposed in the through-hole area 6 .
[0065] In this embodiment, the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is retained in the through-hole area 6 , and the effective thickness of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 , that is, the thickness exceeding the flat layer 2 , is set to be smaller to facilitate the circulation of ink.
[0066] This embodiment further provides a display device, including the above-mentioned display panel.
[0067] In a specific implementation, the display device provided in this embodiment can be any product or component with a display function, such as a mobile phone, tablet computer, television, monitor, laptop computer, digital photo frame, or navigation system. Other essential components of the display device are well understood by those skilled in the art and will not be described in detail herein, nor should they be construed as limitations of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG4 , this embodiment also provides a method for preparing the above-mentioned display panel, comprising the following steps:
[0068] A back plate 1 is provided, wherein a flat layer 2 is provided on the back plate 1;
[0069] A pixel definition layer setting area is provided on the flat layer 2, and the pixel definition layer setting area is divided into a lyophilic area B and a lyophobic area A, and the lyophilic area B and the lyophobic area A are arranged in a crisscross pattern;
[0070] A groove 21 is formed on the flat layer 2 at the location of the lyophilic area B;
[0071] A lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is disposed in the groove 21 and extends beyond the upper surface of the flat layer 2 . A lyophobic pixel defining layer 4 is disposed on the liquid-repellent layer.
[0072] When preparing the display panel provided in the above embodiment, a backplane 1 is first provided. The backplane 1 includes a substrate and a driving circuit structure provided on the substrate. A flat layer 2 is provided on the backplane 1, and then a groove 21 is provided on the flat layer 2 to form the structure shown in FIG1 . The groove 21 on the flat layer 2 is specifically provided at the location of the lyophilic area B. The depth of the groove 21 can be set to a range of 2.4 μm to 1.7 μm according to the above embodiment. No other configuration is performed on the location of the lyophobic area A on the flat layer 2.
[0073] Subsequently, a pixel defining layer is provided on the flat layer 2. Specifically, the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 is provided in the groove 21 and exceeds the flat layer 2 by a certain distance. The thickness of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3 extending beyond the flat layer 2 can be optionally set to 0.6 μm ≥ H1 ≥ 0.3 μm. This thickness can be understood as the effective thickness of the lyophilic pixel defining layer 3. This thickness can ensure that the ink subsequently subjected to inkjet printing has good fluidity between the lyophobic pixel defining layers 4. In fact, the pixel defining layer itself is relatively thick, and a stable thickness can be prepared in the existing process. At the same time, the lyophobic pixel defining layer 4 is provided in the lyophobic area A and is set to a thickness of 1-1.5 μm. A through area 6 is formed between adjacent lyophobic pixel defining layers 4 to accommodate the ink.
[0074] Then, pixel electrodes 5 are disposed on the spaces between the pixel defining layers, forming a structure as shown in FIG. 2 .
[0075] Ink and other structural arrangements are then printed in the spaces between the pixel-defining layers.
