Abstract
Description
[0001] SYSTEM FOR THE DELIVERY AND COLLECTION OF GOODS
[0002] Technical Field
[0003] The present invention relates to a system for the delivery and collection of goods.
[0004] Background Art
[0005] It is nowadays increasingly common to purchase goods through electronic commerce Internet sites (commonly known as “e-commerce”).
[0006] The reason for this interest is because, when compared to traditional commerce at physical stores, the use of e-commerce allows users to purchase and receive goods directly to their home or other predetermined delivery location, thus saving much of their time.
[0007] Once an order is placed, therefore, the purchased items are assigned to a designated courier for transport, who delivers them, typically within a few business days, to the selected delivery location.
[0008] It is, however, important to highlight how the current mode of goods delivery is marred by several important drawbacks.
[0009] First of all, in order to be able to deliver the goods, it is necessary to make an appointment with the recipient, who must, therefore, wait at home for the courier to arrive in order to take delivery from the latter of the purchased goods.
[0010] It is easy to appreciate how this fact forces the recipient to have to arrange his or her schedule around this appointment and, in particular, to be available at home during the time slot designated for the delivery of the goods.
[0011] The need to have to make an appointment with the recipient also means that the delivery of items can only take place during daylight hours, resulting in inconveniently lengthening the overall time and leading to potential delays caused, e.g., by road traffic.
[0012] Again, it is clear to appreciate that the current delivery mode is particularly problematic for people with reduced mobility, as the recipient has to quickly show up at the front door to receive the goods from the courier.
[0013] In addition, it is good to keep in mind that, in the case of non-delivery, the recipient frequently has to go in person to collect the goods from a storage warehouse, thus investing additional time and resources to be able to retrieve the purchased goods.
[0014] To solve at least part of the above drawbacks, some systems for delivery of goods constructed in accordance with the teachings of patent application US2022031105 are known.
[0015] Specifically, document US2022031105 teaches how to implement a system substantially comprising: a security door provided with a frame; a storage compartment attached to the door in a raised position above the floor and movable between a dilated configuration of use, wherein it protrudes cantilevered from the door and defines an inner volume wherein a parcel can be arranged, and a compressed configuration of non-use; and an electronic unit configured to control the movement of the storage compartment between the dilated configuration and the compressed configuration.
[0016] Specifically, the storage compartment is made of canvas and comprises a gusseted surface which can be moved by traction / compression to allow the storage compartment to switch from the compressed / expanded configuration to the expanded / compressed configuration.
[0017] The system described in US2022031105 allows the courier to deposit the goods in the storage compartment regardless of the user’s presence, freeing the latter from having to be available at home at the time of delivery.
[0018] In this way, it is possible to speed up and make the delivery of goods more efficient than would otherwise be possible through the traditional mode of delivery previously discussed.
[0019] However, this system is affected by several drawbacks that limit its convenience and practicality of use.
[0020] First of all, it is important to point out that the system described in patent US2022031105 is rather rudimentary in its construction and may, therefore, result in inaccurate and imprecise operation that severely limits its practicality of use. In addition, the fact that the storage compartment is made of a soft material such as canvas is a major factor of risk for the intrusion of thieves or other malicious persons into the home, resulting in the US2022031105 system being decidedly unsafe to use.
[0021] Such a feature also greatly reduces the maximum weight that can be placed inside the storage compartment without risking damage thereto; moreover, in the case where the goods consist of a parcel, it does not allow multiple parcels to be delivered at the same time.
[0022] The latter disadvantage is further exacerbated by the fact that, in the expanded configuration, the storage compartment protrudes cantilevered from the door without any point of support on the ground resulting, because of this, in a further and inconvenient reduction in the weight it is able to bear and, consequently, in the overall versatility of the US2022031105 system.
[0023] Description of the Invention
[0024] The main aim of the present invention is to devise a system for the delivery and collection of goods that facilitates and streamlines the delivery and collection operations of the ordered goods, allowing such operations to take place in a practical, fast and intuitive maimer without the buyer necessarily having to be present at the place of delivery of the goods at the time of delivery.
[0025] Within the aforementioned main aim, the object of the present invention is to devise a system for the delivery and collection of goods that allows for the delivery of goods at any time of the day, and, therefore, both during the daytime and at night, reducing the overall waiting time.
[0026] Another object of the present invention is to devise a system for the delivery and collection of goods with a sturdy and durable construction that is employable for the delivery and collection of goods having even non-negligible weight.
[0027] Another object of the present invention is to devise a system for the delivery and collection of goods distinguished by particularly secure use that prevents thieves and other malicious persons from breaking into the place where the goods are delivered, such as inside the user’s home, workshop, office, and so on.
[0028] Still another object of the present invention is to devise a system for the delivery and collection of goods that can be used intuitively and practically even by people with impaired mobility.
[0029] A further object of the present invention is to devise a system for the delivery and collection of goods that allows the user to be promptly notified following the delivery of goods.
[0030] Not the least object of the present invention is to devise a system for the delivery and collection of goods with small overall dimensions and, therefore, particularly versatile in its possibilities of application.
[0031] Another object of the present invention is to devise a system for the delivery and collection of goods which allows the aforementioned drawbacks of the prior art to be overcome within the framework of a simple, rational, easy and effective to use as well as inexpensive solution.
[0032] The aforementioned objects are achieved by this system for the delivery and collection of goods having the characteristics of claim 1.
[0033] Brief Description of the Drawings
[0034] Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of a system for the delivery and collection of goods, illustrated by way of an indicative, yet non-limiting example in the accompanying tables of drawings in which:

[0040] Embodiments of the Invention
[0041] With particular reference to these figures, reference numeral 1 globally denotes a system for the delivery and collection of goods.
[0042] The system 1 for the delivery and collection of goods first comprises at least one main structure 2 that can be coupled to a door P intended to divide a first area Al reachable by an employee C (e.g., a courier) for the delivery of goods M from a second area A2 reachable by a user U.
[0043] Specifically, the first area Al and the second area A2 are located outside and inside the place of delivery of goods M, respectively.
[0044] For example, the door P may correspond to the entrance door of the apartment of the user U.
[0045] In this case, the first area Al is located in the common area in front of the door P (e.g. the hallway, the lobby, the garden...), while the second area A2 is located in the room of the apartment where the door P is located.
[0046] It is easy to appreciate, however, that the location of the door P and, consequently, of the areas Al, A2 may be different from the one just mentioned.
[0047] For example, the door P may correspond to the entrance door of an office, a workshop or still other rooms where the user U wants the delivery of goods M to take place.
[0048] That said, the main structure 2 comprises: at least one hollow frame 3 arranged, in use, in the second area A2 and movable between a compressed configuration (Figure 2) and an expanded configuration (Figure 3), wherein it defines an inner compartment 4 adapted to hold the goods M; at least one first opening / closing body 5 and at least one second opening / closing body 6 associated with the frame 3, facing, in use, the first area Al and the second area A2, respectively, and each movable between a locking configuration, wherein they prevent access to the inner compartment 4, and an unlocking configuration, wherein they allow access to the inner compartment 4.
[0049] Therefore, in the switch from the compressed configuration to the expanded configuration, the inner volume of the frame 3 increases, defining the inner compartment 4.
[0050] Conversely, in the switch from the expanded configuration to the compressed configuration, the inner volume of the frame 3 is reduced, conveniently minimizing the overall dimensions of the main structure 2.
[0051] In particular, as visible in the figures, the frame 3 is arranged resting on the ground.
[0052] This greatly increases the stability to the main structure 2, thus allowing the inner compartment 4 to be used to arrange the goods M of even non-negligible weight therein.
[0053] In this regard, in case the goods M consist of one or more parcels, it is possible to make the frame 3 with such a size as to allow the employee C to arrange in the inner compartment 4 a plurality of parcels, thus increasing the versatility of the system 1.
[0054] Usefully, the main structure 2 comprises ground displacement means not shown in the figures.
[0055] Specifically, the ground displacement means comprise a plurality of wheels. Specifically, the displacement means comprise three wheels.
[0056] Providing for wheels proves to be a particularly advantageous expedient since it allows the weight of the goods M placed in the inner compartment 4 to be supported without it bearing on the structural parts of the main structure 2 (e.g., its hinges).
[0057] In this way, the door P can be opened and closed normally regardless of whether the main structure 2 is in the configuration of goods delivery or in the home configuration and regardless of whether there are goods M inside the inner compartment 4.
[0058] Advantageously, the main structure 2 comprises at least one resting base 7 arranged internally to the frame 3 and adapted to support the goods M. In detail, the resting base 7 is movable from a vertical home position to a horizontal use position at the switch of the frame 3 from the compressed configuration to the expanded configuration and vice versa.
[0059] It is emphasized that the fact of arranging the resting base 7 in a vertical position allows further reducing the overall dimensions of the main structure 2 when the frame 3 is brought to a compressed configuration and, therefore, minimizing the space occupied by the main structure itself in the second area A2.
[0060] Conveniently, at least one of the frame 3, the first opening / closing body 5 or the second opening / closing body 6 is made of at least one rigid material. Specifically, the main structure 2 is entirely made of rigid material.
[0061] Importantly, this particular choice proves to be particularly convenient in order to give the main structure 2 considerable strength and structural soundness and, in so doing, prevent thieves or other malicious people from breaking into the delivery place of the goods M.
[0062] In this sense, it is easy to appreciate how this expedient also makes it possible to advantageously increase the weight of the goods M that can be safely arranged in the inner compartment 4, operating in conjunction with what was previously stated about the frame 3 in further increasing the versatility of the entire system 1.
[0063] Specifically, at least one of the frame 3, the first opening / closing body 5 or the second opening / closing body 6 is made of wood.
[0064] Preferably, the main structure 2 is entirely made of wood.
[0065] As for the opening / closing bodies 5, 6, they are associated with the frame 3 in a rotatable maimer between the locking configuration and the unlocking configuration.
[0066] In detail, the opening / closing bodies 5, 6 are hinged to the frame 3.
[0067] Specifically, the opening / closing bodies 5, 6 are of the flap type.
[0068] The possibility of moving the opening / closing bodies 5, 6 in a different way between the locking configuration and the unlocking configuration cannot however be ruled out, such as sliding them along the frame 3 or in other ways still known to the branch engineer.
[0069] By arranging, therefore, the first opening / closing body 5 in the unlocking configuration and bringing the main structure 2 into the expanded configuration makes it possible for the employee C to access to the inner compartment 4 from the first area Al and deposit the goods M therein (see, in this regard, Figure 4). Similarly, by arranging the second opening / closing body 6 in the unlocking configuration and bringing the main structure 2 into the expanded configuration, it is, therefore, possible to access to the inner compartment 4 from the second area A2 to collect the goods M.
[0070] Since the goods M can be stored temporarily in the inner compartment 4, this expedient makes it possible to perform the delivery of goods M without the user U necessarily having to be present at the collection location to receive them.
[0071] In other words, this allows the user U to collect the goods M at any time and directly at the selected collection location (e.g., at his or her home), making the delivery of goods M significantly more functional and efficient.
[0072] The system 1 then comprises at least one electronic unit 8 operationally associated with the main structure 2 and configured to move the latter between: a delivery configuration of the goods, wherein the frame 3 is in the expanded configuration and the first opening / closing body 5 is in the unlocking configuration; and a home configuration, wherein the frame 3 is in the compressed configuration and the first opening / closing body 5 is in the locking configuration.
[0073] Specifically, the electronic unit 8 comprises at least one of: at least a first control panel 9 placed, in use, in the first area Al and configured to arrange the main structure 2 in the delivery configuration of the goods as a result of the entry of a first predefined authentication code; and at least a second control panel 10 placed, in use, in the second area A2 and configured to arrange the main structure 2 in the home configuration as a result of the entry of a second predefined authentication code. Preferably, the electronic unit 8 comprises both the first control panel 9 and the second control panel 10.
[0074] Specifically, the first control panel 9 is intended to be used by the employee C for the delivery of the goods M, who interacts therewith in order to define the inner compartment 4 and to be able to have access thereto to place the goods M there (see Figure 1).
[0075] Specifically, the first authentication code can be provided to the employee C directly following the order of goods M by the user U.
[0076] In contrast, the second control panel 10 is intended for use by the user U who, after collecting the goods M, can thus return the frame 3 to the compressed configuration and thereby reduce the overall dimensions of the main structure 2 (see Figure 8).
[0077] Again, the second authentication code can be provided to the user U directly following the order of the goods M.
[0078] Preferably, at least one of either the first authentication code or the second authentication code is of the type of an alphanumeric sequence.
[0079] Specifically, both authentication codes are of the type of alphanumeric sequences.
[0080] In this sense, the first control panel 9 and the second control panel 10 can be provided with appropriate alphanumeric keypads and / or touchscreens that allow the entry of authentication codes by the employee C and the user U, respectively.
[0081] In addition, at least one of either the first authentication code or the second authentication code is of the disposable type.
[0082] In particular, at least the first authentication code is disposable.
[0083] In this way, it is possible for each employee C to access to the inner compartment 4 only once to deposit the goods M, thus ensuring maximum security of the system 1.
[0084] It is specified, in this regard, that the system 1 can be used by the user U not only to collect the goods M, but also to deliver them to a collecting employee C (e.g., a courier). In this case, the user U arranges the main structure 2 in the configuration of goods delivery by interacting with the second control panel 10 and deposits the goods M in the inner compartment 4.
[0085] At this point, the employee C can in turn interact with the first control panel 9 so as to place the first opening / closing body 5 in the unlocking configuration and to be able to open it to collect the goods M.
[0086] In this sense, it is easy to appreciate how the ability of the user U to employ the system 1 for both the collection and the delivery of the goods M gives the system itself considerable versatility and convenience of use.
[0087] Advantageously, the system 1 comprises: image capturing means 11 associated with the frame 3 and configured to capture the images of the inner compartment 4 when the frame 3 is in the expanded configuration; and sending means 12 operationally connected to the capturing means 11 and adapted to send the images captured by the latter to an outer electronic device D (e.g., a smartphone, tablet, PC, etc.).
[0088] In this regard, the frame 3 comprises at least one upper surface 13 adapted to superiorly bound the inner compartment 4 and with which the capturing means 11 are associated (Figures 6 and 7).
[0089] Specifically, the capturing means 11 comprise at least one capturing device I la arranged in the inner compartment 4, associated with the upper surface 13 and facing, in use, downwards.
[0090] Specifically, the capturing device I la is of the type of a camera or a functionally related tool.
[0091] Once the goods M have been arranged in the inner compartment 4, therefore, the capturing device I la captures a photo of the latter and, via the sending means 12, sends it to the electronic device D, so that the user can be promptly informed of the delivery (see, in this regard, Figure 5).
[0092] In the case, however, that the system 1 is used by the user U to send the goods M, then it is possible to configure the capturing device I la so that the latter captures photos of the empty inner compartment 4 as a result of the collection of the goods by the employee C.
[0093] Having done so, similarly to the previous case, the sending means 12 sends the photo of the empty inner compartment 4 to the electronic device D, so that the user U learns that the goods M have been collected.
[0094] That said, the possibility cannot however be ruled out of providing a system 1 with sending means 12 configured to send text-type messages to the user U as a result of the successful delivery / collection of the goods M by the employee C. Conveniently, the main structure 2 comprises at least one emptying assembly 14 of the inner compartment 4 associated with the frame 3 and configured to convey the goods M contained in the inner compartment 4 from the latter to a collection station R of the second area A2.
[0095] This allows the goods M to be extracted from the inner compartment 4 without any intervention by the user U, further speeding up the collection operation.
[0096] At the same time, such emptying makes the system 1 continuous in use since the goods M can be taken from the inner compartment 4 and placed in the collection station R in a substantially immediate maimer as a result of its placement in the inner compartment 4 by the employee C.
[0097] This allows the user to receive the goods M continuously and without any interruption, thus making the system 1 usable at substantially any time for this purpose.
[0098] Specifically, as can be seen by comparing Figures 6 and 7, the emptying assembly 14 comprises lifting / lowering means 14 associated with the resting base 7 and configured to arrange the latter in an inclined position in which the resting base 7 defines a direction of sliding S of the goods M oriented from the inner compartment 4 towards the collection station R.
[0099] In other words, the activation of the lifting / lowering means 14 allows the resting base 7 to be partly raised from the horizontal position, so that the goods M can be made to slide along the direction of sliding S and brought from the inner compartment 4 to the collection station R.
[0100] Usefully, the lifting / lowering means 14 comprise at least one lifting / lowering device 14a provided with at least one movable end associated with the resting base 7 and adapted to arrange the latter in the inclined position.
[0101] In particular, the lifting / lowering device 14a is arranged below the resting base 7.
[0102] Specifically, the lifting / lowering device 14a is arranged inside a special housing
[0103] 15 made inside the frame 3 and shown in the above Figures 6 and 7.
[0104] Preferably, the lifting / lowering device 14a is of the type of a fluid actuator.
[0105] It is easy to appreciate, however, that the lifting / lowering device 14a could be different from the one just exposed and, e.g., be of the type of a chain mechanism, belt mechanism, sprocket mechanism or other types still known to the expert in the field.
[0106] Conveniently, the main structure 2 comprises receiving and supporting means
[0107] 16 arranged, in use, downstream of the direction of sliding S in the collection station R and adapted to receive and support the goods M conveyed into the latter by the emptying assembly 14 (Figures 6 and 7).
[0108] Specifically, the receiving and supporting means 16 comprise at least one receiving and supporting base 16 associated with the frame 3 and defining a receiving and supporting top 17 of the goods M.
[0109] Specifically, the receiving and supporting base 16 is associated with the frame 3 in a rotatable maimer between a home position, wherein it is arranged substantially vertical, and a work position, wherein it is rotated with respect to the home position to allow the positioning of the goods M on the receiving and supporting top 17.
[0110] As visible in the above figures, in the work position, the receiving and supporting base 16 is arranged in a substantially horizontal position, so that the goods M sliding along the resting base 7 can end up on the receiving and supporting top 17 and there be subsequently collected by the user U.
[0111] The operation of this invention is as follows.
[0112] First, the employee C interacts with the first control panel 9, thus entering the first predefined authentication code (Figure 1), so as to bring the main structure 2 from the home configuration to the delivery configuration of the goods (Figures 2 and 3). In this way, the employee C can open the first opening / closing body 5 and arrange the goods M in the inner compartment 4 resting on the resting base 7 (Figure 4).
[0113] Having done so, the employee C can close the first opening / closing body 5 and finish, by doing so, the order delivery.
[0114] At the same time, the capturing means 11 capture one or more images of the goods M arranged in the inner compartment 4 and send them to the electronic device D via the sending means 12 so as to alert the user U of the successful delivery (Figure 5).
[0115] At this point, the user U can retrieve the goods M by simply bringing the second opening / closing body 6 into the unlocking configuration, opening it and having, thus, free access to the inner compartment 4.
[0116] Alternatively, the lifting / lowering means 14 and the receiving and supporting means 16 can be used to automatically arrange the goods M in the collection station R, i.e., without the user U having to access to the inner compartment 4 to collect the goods M contained therein.
[0117] By doing so, the resting base 7 is brought to an inclined position and the goods M supported thereby slides along the direction of sliding S on the receiving and supporting top 17 (Figures 6 and 7).
[0118] Once the goods M have been collected, the user U can return the main structure 2 from the delivery configuration of the goods to the home configuration by simply entering the second authentication code in the second control panel 10, so as to reduce the overall dimensions thereof until later use.
[0119] It has in practice been ascertained that the described invention achieves the intended objects.
[0120] In particular, the fact is emphasized that this system makes it possible to facilitate and streamline the delivery and collection of the ordered goods, allowing these operations to take place in a practical, fast and intuitive maimer without the buyer necessarily having to be present at the place of delivery of the goods at the time of delivery.
[0121] In fact, the fact that the frame of the main structure is movable between a compressed configuration and an expanded configuration makes it possible to define an inner compartment that can be used by the delivery employee to store the goods and by the user to collect them up.
[0122] In addition, the construction of the main structure makes it possible to arrange parcels of even greater weight in the inner compartment than known systems, thus increasing the versatility of use of the system the invention relates to.
[0123] In this regard, the special expedient of making the frame and the opening / closing bodies from a rigid material such as wood gives great structural strength to the system, making its use particularly safe. In addition, the special operation of the main structure and of the electronic unit makes the system according to the invention intuitively and practically usable even by people with impaired mobility.
[0124] Finally, the small dimensions taken by the main structure in the home configuration help to increase the overall versatility of the system, allowing it to be profitably used in many different circumstances of use.
