Description

[0001] Condensation evaporator

[0002] The subject matter of the invention is a condensation evaporator to be applied specifically in refrigeration units.

[0003] The existing solutions offer three methods of draining condensation from refrigeration equipment.

[0004] In method one, the refrigeration unit has a tube installed and leading directly to the sewage piping. However, this solution requires a direct connection with the sewage piping, which is not always feasible.

[0005] Another method of draining condensation from refrigeration units is to drain it directly to a condensation container. However, the solution requires constant monitoring of the level of condensation in the container to empty it at the right time and avoid overflowing.

[0006] Another solution uses a heater. However, being highly energy-consuming, the solution conflicts with the requirement for looking for the most energy-saving solutions.

[0007] The problem occurring in refrigeration equipment consists in the accumulation of condensation water in the process of operation of the cooling system. The solutions referred to above are either not fully energy-efficient or too energy-consuming, what - in connection with the frequently changing standards concerning the energy efficiency of refrigeration equipment - renders them useless.

[0008] The condensation evaporator, which consists of a container with a tube inserted inside, is characterised by the fact that in at least one container of a capacity of 100-400 ml, at least one ’ filter made of a porous material is installed, and at least one 1.5 W to 50 W fan is installed next to the filter in such a way that the fan forces the flow of air through the filter, and condensation is drained into the container.

[0009] Preferably, the tube is inserted next to the fan from the top.

[0010] Preferably, the tube is inserted at the side of the container.

[0011] Preferably, the evaporator has one container with a filter.

[0012] Preferably, the container has a capacity of 5 1.

[0013] Preferably, the power of the fan is 1.5 to 50 W.

[0014] Preferably, the power of the fan is 5.4 W.

[0015] Preferably, the fan comes with wires.

[0016] Preferably, the condensation is drained by means of the tube at the top.

[0017] Preferably, the condensation is drained at the side of the container. Preferably, the condensation is drained at the bottom of the container.

[0018] The porous material serves as a filter absorbing water.

[0019] The porous structure of the material facilitates the capillary action. The filter should be replaced at least once every 12 months. The electric cable is connected to the electric system of the refrigeration unit or directly to the mains. Condensation is drained from the refrigeration unit to the container. Forced by the fan, the flow of air through the filter saturated with condensation accelerates water evaporation. Condensation can be drained from the top by means of the tube, using gravitation. Condensation can also be drained at the side or bottom of the container, using hydrostatic pressure.

[0020] The solution according to the invention is energy-saving. The energy saving, relative to the standard solution using a heater, is ca. 90%.

[0021] An example of the evaporator is shown in Figure 1. The cross-section view shows the condensation evaporator with one container and one fan.

[0022] Example 1

[0023] The condensation evaporator is composed of a container 1 of a capacity of 0.5 1. A tube 2, inserted into the container at the top (next to the fan), drains condensation from the refrigeration unit. A porous material which serves as an evaporation filter 3 is placed inside the container 1. The fan 5 with a handle 4, is mounted slide-in, at the top of the filter 3, in such a way as to force the flow of air through the filter saturated with condensation 6. An electric cable is connected to the 5.4 W fan 5. The cable is connected to the electric system of the refrigeration unit. The condensation evaporator shown in example 1 can be used in existing as well as newly- manufactured refrigeration units.

[0024] Example 2

[0025] The condensation evaporator is composed of two containers 1 of a capacity of 50 1 each. A tube 2, inserted at the top of the containers 1, next to the fan 5, drains condensation from the refrigeration unit. A porous material which serves as an evaporation filter 3 is placed inside each container 1. One fan 5 is adhesive-bonded at the top of each container 1 directly above the filter 3, in such a way as to force the flow of air through the filter saturated with condensation 6. The 5.4 W fan 5 is connected to the refrigeration unit. This device can be mounted in newly-manufactured refrigeration units.

[0026] Example 3

[0027] The condensation evaporator is composed of a container 1 of a capacity of 400 1. A tube 2, inserted at the side of the container 1, drains condensation. A porous material which serves as an evaporation filter 3 is placed inside the container 1. The fan is mounted above the filter 3 by means of four M4 bolts, using assembly openings, to the fan handle fitted with the corresponding assembly openings. The device uses six 48 W fans 5. The evaporator is connected with an electric cable to a separate socket outside the electric system of the refrigeration unit in which it is pre-installed.

[0028] The condensation evaporator according to the invention can be used as additional equipment with existing refrigeration units as well as with newly-manufactured refrigeration units.
