Description

Concrete overlay structures for high-strength containers

[0001] The present invention relates to a concrete overlay structure for a high-soundness container.

[0002] Generally, various types of highly radioactive waste (e.g., wastewater) generated during the operation of a nuclear power plant are temporarily stored in a high integrity container (HIC).

[0003] In order to dispose of high-quality containers containing radioactive waste, disposal suitability (disposal acceptability and disposal safety) that satisfies the disposal facility's acceptance criteria (mechanical resistance and chemical resistance) is required.

[0004] Accordingly, high-quality containers are loaded onto the concrete overpacking structure (container shape) side and stored and disposed of in an overpacked state.

[0005] Concrete overlay structures have the advantage of being able to overlay high-sound containers while ensuring mechanical resistance (strength) due to the characteristics of concrete materials.

[0006] However, since most of these concrete overlay structures are manufactured as a single piece through concrete forming work (pouring and curing), there is a disadvantage in that it is difficult to test whether the mechanical resistance characteristics, which are the basic requirements required of the overlay structure itself, are suitable through sampling, etc.

[0007] Therefore, the existing concrete pavement structure has limitations in securing satisfactory pavement safety and reliability.

[0008] The present invention has been devised to solve the above-mentioned problems,

[0009] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a concrete overlay structure for a high-soundness container formed so as to facilitate the overlay treatment of a high-soundness container, and in particular, to facilitate the collection of samples for evaluating the self-resistance characteristics.

[0010] In order to achieve the above purpose,

[0011] A concrete structure for overpacking and storing high integrity containers (HICs) containing radioactive waste.

[0012] A structural body having a concrete container part and a concrete cover part for additional packaging of a high-soundness container; and

[0013] A sampling port formed on the side of the structure body to form a sample for collecting for evaluating the resistance characteristics of the structure body;

[0014] A concrete overlay structure for a high-soundness container including a .

[0015] The present invention can provide a structure capable of overpacking a high-quality container containing radioactive waste (e.g., wastewater treatment waste) into a loading and storage state in which disposal suitability can be secured by using the main body of the structure (concrete container portion and concrete cover portion).

[0016] In particular, a sampling port is formed on the side of the structure body, and this sampling port is formed to have a structure that facilitates the extraction and collection of samples for evaluating the self-resistance characteristics of the structure body.

[0017] Accordingly, the present invention not only enables the overpacking of high-quality containers to ensure suitability for disposal, but also facilitates quality control of the structure in a state consistent with securing suitability for disposal through sampling of the main body of the concrete structure, and thus can be expected to have the effect of further enhancing the safety and reliability of the overpacking.

[0018] FIG. 1 is a drawing schematically showing the entire structure of a concrete overlay structure for a high-soundness container according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0019] FIGS. 2 to 8 are drawings for explaining the detailed structure and operation of a concrete overlay structure for a high-soundness container according to one embodiment of the present invention.

[0020] Hereinafter, a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the attached drawings.

[0021] Embodiments of the present invention are described within a range that allows those with average knowledge in the art to practice the present invention.

[0022] Accordingly, since the embodiments of the present invention can be modified into various different forms, the scope of the claims of the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described below.

[0023] FIG. 1 is a drawing schematically showing the entire structure of a concrete overlay structure for a high-soundness container according to one embodiment of the present invention, and FIGS. 2 to 8 are drawings for explaining the detailed structure and operation.

[0024] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 6, a concrete overlay structure for a high-soundness container according to one embodiment includes a structure body (10) and a sampling port portion (20), and is formed so that the high-soundness container (C) can be overlayed in a state in which it is reinforced to ensure suitability for disposal.

[0025] The high-soundness container (C) can be made in the form of a container made of polymer material (e.g., polyethylene), and basically requires a container structure that can safely store highly radioactive waste, such as wastewater generated during the operation of a nuclear power plant, in a sealed state.

[0026] In particular, the high-strength container (C) is required to have mechanical strength characteristics (e.g., compressive strength, tensile strength, and creep stability) that can satisfy the suitability for disposal while containing radioactive waste, and in addition to mechanical strength characteristics, groundwater infiltration resistance, corrosion resistance, microbial decomposition resistance, degradation stability, and contact reaction stability may be required.

[0027] Therefore, the structure body (10) is required to be formed by a concrete forming method including a concrete pouring and curing process, but to have a structure that can be subjected to additional paving treatment in a state that can secure the suitability for disposal of a high-soundness container (C).

[0028] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the structure body (10) is formed by including a concrete container portion (12) and a concrete cover portion (14) for additional packaging of a high-soundness container (C).

[0029] The concrete container (12) and the concrete cover (14) are each formed using a conventional concrete forming method, but are formed to form a concrete structure having a pavement resistance characteristic that is compatible with securing the disposal suitability of the high-soundness container (C).

[0030] That is, the concrete container (12) has a loading space (A) of a high-soundness container (C), and the outer shape can be formed to have, for example, a polygonal container or a cylindrical concrete container structure shape according to required conditions.

[0031] The concrete cover (14) can be formed to have a plate-shaped concrete structure shape that can seal and block the opening (A1) side of the loading space (A) of the concrete container (12).

[0032] The concrete container portion (12) and the concrete cover portion (14) can each be formed by using a concrete molding raw material suitable for the molding process so as to enable implementation of the required resistance characteristics during overlay processing.

[0033] For example, the concrete container portion (12) and the concrete cover portion (14) can each be formed in the form of a polymer concrete structure that is molded using a polymer as a binding material.

[0034] In particular, polymer concrete has excellent material properties such as excellent compressive strength, waterproofness, watertightness, and wear resistance, and excellent resistance to various acids, alkalis, and salts, so that the mechanical resistance and chemical resistance properties required for the main body (10) of the structure of the present invention can be easily secured.

[0035] The structure body (10) may be formed by a molding process using, for example, concrete molding raw materials that use cement as a binding material, and may also be formed by various concrete molding raw materials and molding methods that satisfy the purpose of the present invention.

[0036] Meanwhile, the sampling port section (20) provides a sample for evaluating the overpacking resistance characteristics of the structure body (10), and is formed integrally on the structure body (10) side in a state where the sample can be easily withdrawn from the structure body (10).

[0037] In particular, the sampling port section (20) is formed integrally on the side of the structure body (10) in a state in which it is formed to form a port structure that facilitates sample extraction in conjunction with the forming operation of the structure body (10).

[0038] That is, the sampling port section (20) may be provided with a sample for collection (22) as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, and may be configured to have a structure in which a porthole (H) is formed on the inside of the structure body (10) by a port-shaped material (B) in conjunction with the molding operation of the structure body (10), and the sample for collection (22) is molded and formed in a state in which it can be withdrawn and collected on the side of the porthole (H).

[0039] The port-use heterogeneous material (B) can be formed in a cylindrical or polygonal cylinder shape that matches the required molding shape of the sample (22) for collection, and can be formed in a state in which the inner side has a heterogeneous space (B1) with an open upper portion.

[0040] The release material (B) for the port can be made of paper or film, and can be selected from among materials having a surface structure or material properties that enable a particularly stable surface release action.

[0041] For example, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the sampling port section (20) can be formed in a state in which the sample for collection (22) is formed integrally with the container section (12) by pouring and curing the concrete forming raw material while setting the port release material (B) on the forming space (F1) side between the inner and outer forming molds (F) during the forming of the concrete container section (12).

[0042] At this time, the port-type deformed member (B) is set in a state where the open side of the deformed space (B1) can be exposed at the upper surface point of the concrete container (C).

[0043] Then, the port-type mold (B) can act as a kind of port mold that allows a porthole (H) and a sampling sample (22) to be formed inside the container (12) in conjunction with the forming operation of the concrete container (12), and can also play a role in inducing (forming operation) the extraction of the sampling sample (22) from the porthole (H).

[0044] Accordingly, a porthole (H) is formed on the upper part of the formed concrete container (12) as shown in Fig. 5 by a port-shaped member (B), and a sampling port (20) can be formed inside the porthole (H) in a state where a sample (22) for collection is formed while being wrapped by the port-shaped member (B).

[0045] This sampling port section (20) is not only integrally formed on the side of the structure body (10) in the same state as the concrete forming environment and conditions of the structure body (10), but can also provide a port structure that allows a sample (22) for collection to be easily withdrawn from the outside of the structure body (10).

[0046] The sampling port (20) is formed on the side of the structure body (10), and may be formed at one or more points on the side of the structure body (10), as shown in FIG. 1, so as to enable evaluation of the packaging resistance characteristics (e.g., compressive strength) that are compatible with securing the disposal suitability of the high-soundness container (C).

[0047] Such a sampling port section (20) can provide a sample (22) for collection in a molded state that can be easily taken out and collected, especially under the same molding environment and conditions as the main body of the structure (10), and thus can further increase work efficiency and reliability for evaluating the resistance characteristics of the main body of the structure (10).

[0048] The sampling port section (20) can be formed to have a joint (24) connecting the sample for collection (22) and the porthole (H) as shown in FIG. 6.

[0049] For example, the joint (24) can be formed by performing a molding operation while forming a joint hole (B2) on the side of the port-type material (B) as in Fig. 6, thereby connecting the inner surface of the port hole (H) and one side of the outer surface of the sample (22) for collection to each other through the hole.

[0050] The joint (24) holds the sample (22) for collection from the porthole (H) side, but is formed to have a joint structure that can be easily cut by an external force when the sample (22) for collection is withdrawn, thereby increasing the forming stability of the sample (22) for collection.

[0051] Referring to FIGS. 7 and 8, a concrete overlay structure for a high-soundness container according to one embodiment of the present invention may further include a withdrawal connection portion (30) corresponding to the sampling port portion (20).

[0052] The extraction connection part (30) is formed to have a connection structure that matches this so that when extracting a sample (22) for collection from the outside of the structure body (10), the operator can easily pull out one side (upper part) of the sample (22).

[0053] The withdrawal connection part (30) is provided with a connection insert (32) as shown in Fig. 7, and this connection insert (32) can be set in a state of being inserted and placed on the upper side of the sample (22) for collection of the sampling port part (20).

[0054] The connecting insert (32) may be formed in the form of a nut with a female screw portion (S1) formed, for example, as in Fig. 7, and may be set so that one end of the female screw portion (S1) is exposed to the upper side of the sample (22) for collection.

[0055] The connecting insert (32) can be formed and fixed in an integrally inserted position on the side of the sample (22) for collection as in Fig. 7, for example, by insert molding during molding of the sampling port portion (20).

[0056] This withdrawal connection (30) can provide a connection fixing force that matches the withdrawal operation when withdrawing a sample (22) for collection from the sampling port (20) from the structure body (10).

[0057] For example, as shown in Fig. 8, by pulling out the tool (T) while the male screw portion (S2) of a separate tool (T) is fastened and connected to the female screw portion (S1) side of the connecting insert (32), the sample (22) for collection can be withdrawn more simply and easily from the porthole (H).

[0058] Therefore, the extraction connection part (30) can ensure further improved work convenience and efficiency when extracting a sample (22) for collection from the sampling port part (20) of the structure body (10).

[0059] Accordingly, the present invention provides a structure in which a high-soundness container (C) containing various types of radioactive waste generated during the operation of a nuclear power plant is subjected to additional packaging while being loaded, and in which mechanical resistance can be further secured by using the concrete container portion (12) and the concrete cover portion (14) of the main body (10) of the structure.

[0060] Furthermore, the present invention is formed so that a sampling port portion (20) for providing a sample (22) for collection for evaluating the required resistance characteristics on the structure body (10) side is integrally formed on the structure body (10) side, and is formed so as to have a structure that can be easily withdrawn and collected in a state having the same concrete forming characteristics as the structure body (10).

[0061] Therefore, the present invention can implement a concrete overlay structure structure that is formed to have resistance characteristics that are compatible with securing the disposal suitability of a high-soundness container (C), and can easily manage the overlay quality through resistance characteristic evaluation by simple sampling.
