Description

[0001] A KNOB SUITABLE FOR USE IN COOKING DEVICES

[0002] The present invention relates to the prevention of possible separation of components due to heat in the knobs used on the cooking devices.

[0003] It is known that the knobs on the cooking devices are positioned on the horizontal control panel. The shaft of the knob which controls the gas burners in the cooking device transmits the movement of the knob to the gas tap at the back of the panel, enabling the burner to be controlled.

[0004] Said knobs may be composed of components manufactured from different materials. The handle part, which is connected to the body of the knob and which is suitable for being held by the user, is preferably manufactured from metal and can expand more than the body thereunder due to the heat radiated from the device. Due to such expansion problems, the gap between the handle and the body increases and may cause the handle to separate from the housing.

[0005] Moreover, the heat radiated from the cooking device causes the existing claws to wear out and may cause breakage due to surface tension.

[0006] In the state of the art Turkish Patent Application No. 2017 / 09812, a cooking device is disclosed, comprising a sealing member which provides sealing at the openings where the knobs placed on the panel are mounted and which prevents liquids spilled on the panel from leaking through the openings.

[0007] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooking device having a knob with increased strength, wherein possible separation of components in the knob is prevented.

[0008] The cooking device of the present invention comprises a knob having a body suitable to be placed on a panel and a handle connected to said body. There is at least one hole formed on said body and a connection member which is disposed in the body and which has at least one coupling protrusion suitable for being attached to the handle by extending at least partially through said hole. The knob manufactured from different materials is prevented from being affected by the heat emanating from the cooking device, and the ring-shaped handle is prevented from detaching or moving. Thus, the service malfunction rate is reduced and customer satisfaction is increased. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the connection member manufactured from metal extends through the body towards the handle and provides an extra safety connection.

[0009] In an embodiment of the present invention, there are at least two holes provided on the same circumferential axis on the outer wall of the body. The coupling protrusions of the connection member pass through said holes. By increasing the number of holes, a more secure and correctly aligned connection is provided between the body and the handle.

[0010] In an embodiment of the present invention, there is an inner housing which extends circumferentially in the inner wall of the handle so as to receive the coupling protrusion. The coupling protrusions of said connection member are fitted into the inner housing. The coupling members in the form of protrusions are fitted into the inner housing structured in the form of a peripheral protrusion. Since the inner wall circumferentially extends, the coupling protrusions can be easily fitted into the inner housing. The need for additional alignment is eliminated.

[0011] In an embodiment of the present invention, there is an inner housing having a first surface whereon the coupling protrusion is provided and a second surface inclined with respect to the first surface. By means of the inclined surface of the inner housing, the handle slides easily while being fitted to the body thanks to said surface, and then is fitted properly thanks to the flat upper section. By means of said two surfaces, the handle can be easily attached to the body.

[0012] In an embodiment of the present invention, there is the body having a cylindrical coupling zone suitable for coupling with the handle and a plurality of holes formed on said coupling zone. There is a separate part on the body for the handle, and suitable holes are formed in said coupling zone to hold the handle well. Easy access to the inner housing is provided from the handle by means of the holes opened in the form of windows.

[0013] In an embodiment of the present invention, there are four holes formed at equal distance from each other on the coupling zone. Since said window-shaped holes are at equal distance from each other, the connection member is enabled to effectively hold the handle. Thus, possible deformation due to heat is minimized. In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member comprises a plurality of coupling protrusions so as to have at least one open end. Thus, the connection member of the first type is obtained, and the connection member is formed practically by simply shaping an open-ended metal wire. A very low cost connection strengthening member is achieved by using a single standard wire.

[0014] In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member comprises a plurality of coupling protrusions extending as single piece in the direction of the horizontal axis thereof. Said coupling protrusions are formed by means of the bent sections of the connection member, and thus, a cost-effective and effective connection member is achieved by using only a bent wire structure. The number of bends can be increased, and the shape and dimensions of the coupling protrusions can be changed according to the form of the inner housing.

[0015] In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member is configured to be manufactured from metal wire and to have an open end. Thus, a flexible connection member which can be easily replaced is obtained.

[0016] In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member comprises a plurality of V-shaped coupling protrusions which extend outwards from the connection member as a single piece. In the connection member of the second type, there are V-shaped single-piece protrusions extending outward from the outer wall of the connection member. By means of the V shape, said coupling protrusions can stretch along the contact surface while the handle is being mounted, and after the mounting, can expand and fit better into the inner housing. Thus, a better connection between the handle and the body is provided.

[0017] In an embodiment of the present invention, the handle comprises an inner housing having a first surface whereon the V-shaped coupling protrusion is seated. By means of the V shape, a flexible coupling protrusion is obtained, and enabled to be fitted firmly into the inner housing after coupling.

[0018] In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member comprises an outer wall and a cavity surrounded by said outer wall, and the connection member is configured in the form of a hollow ring. By means of this shape, a more rigid connection member is obtained, and the desired flexibility is provided in the V-shaped claws. In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member comprises at least one protrusion and at least one recess which are formed on the outer wall so as to engage with each other in the body. Thus, the connection member is solidly fitted onto the upper ceiling in the body. Said recess and protrusion enable the connection member to be kept in the desired housing in the body.

[0019] In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooking device can be an oven or a cooker.

[0054] The cooking device of the present invention comprises a knob (10) having a body (30) suitable to be placed on a panel and a handle (20) connected to said body (30). There is at least one hole (311) formed on said body (30) and a connection member (40) which is disposed in the body (30) and which has at least one coupling protrusion (41) suitable for being attached to the handle (20) by extending at least partially through said hole (311).

[0055] In an embodiment of the present invention, there are at least two holes (311) provided on the same circumferential axis on the outer wall of the body (30). As shown in Figure 1, the diameter of the body (30) decreases towards the handle (20) and the holes (311) are positioned circumferentially at the uppermost part. The coupling protrusions (41) of the connection member (40) positioned in the body (30) extend through said holes (311).

[0056] In an embodiment of the present invention, there is an inner housing (21) which extends circumferentially in the inner wall of the handle (20) so as to receive the coupling protrusion (41). As shown in Figure 7, the coupling protrusion (41) is properly placed in the body (30), and the coupling protrusion (41) is coupled with the inner housing (21) which extends circumferentially. Thus, an additional connection is provided between the handle (20) and the body (30).

[0057] In an embodiment of the present invention, there is an inner housing (21) having a first surface (211) whereon the coupling protrusion (41) is provided and a second surface (212) inclined with respect to the first surface (211). As shown in Figure 2, the second surface (212) of the inner housing (21) facing the body (30) is configured in an inclined manner so as to be fitted more comfortably into the coupling zone (31) on the body (30). After the connection member (40) is positioned in the body (30), the handle (20) is aligned properly and attached to the body (30).

[0058] In an embodiment of the present invention, there is the body (30) having a cylindrical coupling zone (31) suitable for coupling with the handle (20) and a plurality of holes (311) formed on said coupling zone (31). As shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2, there are the holes (311) placed circumferentially at the cylindrical coupling zone (31). In an embodiment of the present invention, there are four holes (311) formed at equal distance from each other on the coupling zone (31). The number of said holes (311) can be increased in different embodiments of the present invention.

[0059] In an embodiment of the present invention, a connection member (40) of the first type comprises a plurality of coupling protrusions (41) so as to have at least one open end (42). As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the connection member (40) of the first type comprises a plurality of coupling protrusions (41) which extends as single piece in the direction of the horizontal axis of the connection member (40). In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the connection member (40) is configured to be manufactured from metal wire and to have an open end (42). In Figures 1 to 7, the connection member (40) of the first type in clip form is shown, and in Figures 8 to 14, the connection member (40) of the second type is shown.

[0060] As shown in Figure 1, the connection member (40) of the first type can be manufactured from a bent wire with two open ends (42). Referring to Figure 1, in the connection member (40) of the first type, there are outwardly curved intermediate parts (43) between said coupling protrusions (41). Said partial spring-shaped intermediate parts (43) also add flexibility to the connection member (40). Said coupling protrusions (41) in the connection member (40) of the first type are also preferably configured to have a significantly U- section. While the handle (20) is attached to the body (30), the coupling protrusions (41) partially stretch inwards and after coupling, are fitted into the inner housing (21) as shown in Figure 7.

[0061] In another embodiment of the present invention, a connection member (40) of the second type can be used. As shown in Figure 8, the connection member (40) of the second type, unlike the connection member (40) of the first type, comprises a plurality of V-shaped coupling protrusions (41) which extend outwards as a single piece. As shown in Figure 15, the coupling protrusions (41) of the connection member (40) of the second type positioned in the body (30) are fitted into the inner housing (21) in an inverted V form. Thus, the negative effects of the heat radiated from the cooking device on the knob (10) are reduced, and the handle (20) is connected to the body (30) more solidly.

[0062] The connection member (40) of the second type comprises an outer wall (45) and a hollow cavity (44) surrounded by said outer wall (45), and said connection member (40) of the second type is configured in the form of a hollow ring. The connecting member (40) shown in Figure 8 comprises four equally spaced inverted V-shaped coupling protrusions (41). Said V-shaped coupling protrusions (41) are seated onto the first surface (211) in the inner housing (20).

[0063] In an embodiment of the present invention, the connection member (40) of the second type comprises at least one protrusion (46) and at least one recess (47) which are formed on the outer wall (45) so as to engage with each other in the body (30). As shown in Figure 10, there are opposing protrusions (46) and recesses (47) formed to align with the protrusion forms on the upper part of the body (30). The connection member (40) placed as such also enables the coupling protrusions (41) to leave the appropriate holes (311) by using a suitable apparatus.

[0064] The assembly steps of the knob (10) of the present invention are as follows: First, the body (30) is turned upside down and the connection member (40) of the first or second type is slid into the body (30). Depending on the need, the connecting member (40) is inserted into its housing in the body (30) with an apparatus and the coupling protrusions (41) come out through the opposite holes (311). Thus, the coupling protrusions (41) extending from the body (30) into the handle (20) provide additional safety by acting as claws. In the next step, the handle (20) in the form of a ring and preferably manufactured from metal is pushed down and seated onto the body (30). An indicator (23) extends outwards from the handle (20), informing the user and enabling him / her to grip tightly during use. Referring to Figure 5, said indicator (23) in the form of a protrusion preferably has inclined lateral walls and a coupling cavity (22) inside. As shown in Figure 15, said coupling cavity (22) formed by emptying the inner housing (21) is attached to a body protrusion (312) on the body (30) and thus aligned in the appropriate position. Said indicator (23) is taken as reference when the handle (20) is placed on the body (30). As shown in Figure 5, the handle (20) is atached to the connection member (40) grouped with the body (30) by being pushed down from above.

[0065] The body (30) is preferably manufactured from plastic, and the handle (20) is manufactured from metal. The cooking device of the present invention can be a cooker, cooktop or oven. By means of the present invention, a cooking device is realized, comprising a knob (10) with increased strength.
