Abstract
Description
Electronic device and method of controlling the same
[0001] The present disclosure relates to an electronic device and a control method thereof, and more particularly, to an electronic device including a filter for removing noise and a control method thereof.
[0002] Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) filters can be used to remove noise signals generated by home appliances.
[0003] EMI can refer to radiated or conducted electromagnetic waves that interfere with the functioning of electronic circuits. EMI can also refer to noise, which can refer to unwanted electromagnetic waves.
[0004] EMI filters can filter out noise signals generated when power is supplied to home appliances. Using EMI filters ensures a stable power supply to home appliances. EMI filters can also be described as noise filters.
[0005] EMI filters can block, absorb, or bypass noise generated by home appliances.
[0006] Electrical noise signals can take various forms. They can include at least one of a common-mode current and a differential-mode current. Common-mode currents can also exhibit various current flows.
[0007] EMI filters can be designed to address conducted emissions (CE). EMI filters can eliminate noise related to a predetermined flow. However, EMI filters may not be able to eliminate noise related to disturbance power (DP).
[0008] A common mode filter may be used to filter common mode current, and a differential mode filter may be used to filter differential mode current.
[0009] In a common-mode filter, increasing the impedance can increase the interference current limiting performance at a specific frequency. This can be achieved by increasing the magnetic permeability or increasing the number of turns in the winding, thereby increasing the inductance.
[0010] However, as the inductance increases, the parasitic stray capacitance (parasitic resistance, parasitic capacitor) between the windings may change. As the parasitic stray capacitance changes, the self-resonant frequency of the filter decreases, so the impedance may increase only in the band below the self-resonant frequency and decrease in the band above the self-resonant frequency.
[0011] If it is difficult to increase the magnetic permeability (e.g., by replacing the inductor), increasing the impedance may be difficult.
[0012] If it is difficult to increase the number of turns of the winding (e.g., due to insufficient core size), increasing the impedance may be difficult.
[0013] If it is difficult to increase the size of the magnetic material, it may be difficult to increase the impedance.
[0014] Changing the magnetic material used in the common mode filter may cause difficulties in standardizing / commonizing parts.
[0015] The present disclosure is designed to improve the above-described problem, and an object of the present disclosure is to provide an electronic device and a control method thereof that change impedance by placing an additional capacitor in a common mode filter included in an EMI filter.

[0307] Figure 14 is a diagram for explaining the change in impedance according to the type of inductor.
[0308] Table (1410) of FIG. 14 may include physical characteristic information of inductor A and inductor B.
[0309] Assume that the inductance of inductor A is 2 mH at a frequency of 1 kHz. The self-resonant frequency of inductor A may be 700 kHz. When the frequency is 300 kHz, the impedance of inductor A may be 3.9 kΩ. When the frequency is 1000 kHz, the impedance of inductor A may be 7.2 kΩ.
[0310] Assume that the inductance of inductor B is 5 mH at a frequency of 1 kHz. The self-resonant frequency of inductor B may be 450 kHz. When the frequency is 300 kHz, the impedance of inductor B may be 6.8 kΩ. When the frequency is 1000 kHz, the impedance of inductor B may be 5.6 kΩ.
[0311] Inductance Using a relatively larger inductor can increase the impedance at a certain frequency (e.g., 300 kHz). Inductance Using a relatively larger inductor can decrease the self-resonant frequency and actually decrease the impedance at a certain frequency (e.g., 1000 kHz).
[0312] Depending on the inductance of the inductor used in the electronic device (100), the physical characteristics, etc. may change. If an inductor with a large inductance is used to increase impedance, the overall physical characteristics of the electronic device (100) may change.
[0313] Figure 15 is a drawing for explaining the operation of determining the capacity of a capacitor additionally placed to increase impedance.
[0314] Equation (1500) of FIG. 15 may include a process for calculating the capacitor capacity added to the target inductor.
[0315] The formula (1500) may include Cp={1 / 2}*{1 / (w^2*L)-1 / (Z_L*w)}.
[0316] Cp can represent the capacitance of the capacitor added to the inductor.
[0317] w can represent frequency. Frequency (w) can be written as 2πf. f can represent frequency.
[0318] L can represent the target inductor.
[0319] Z_L may represent a target impedance. The target impedance may represent the total impedance of the second common mode filter (144) that the user wishes to implement.

[0321] Each of the sixth inductor (L6) and the seventh inductor (L7) included in the second common mode filter (144) may have parasitic resistance and parasitic capacitance. The parasitic resistance may refer to an internal resistance that occurs when current flows in a coil inside the inductor. The parasitic capacitance may refer to an internal capacitor that occurs due to the electrical connection (or contact) between the inductor and surrounding components.
[0322] R_L6 can represent the parasitic resistance of the sixth inductor (L6).
[0323] C_L6 may represent the parasitic capacitor of the sixth inductor (L6).
[0324] R_L7 can represent the parasitic resistance of the seventh inductor (L7).
[0325] C_L7 can represent the parasitic capacitor of the seventh inductor (L7).
[0326] Example (1520) may represent the second common mode filter (144) of FIG. 11. The second common mode filter (144) may include a sixth inductor (L6) and a seventh inductor (L7). The second common mode filter (144) may additionally include target capacitors (C4, C5). A target capacitor may be added to each of the inductors included in the second common mode filter (144).
[0327] The target capacitor can be determined based on the Cp value calculated in formula (1500). The fourth capacitor (C4), which is the target capacitor, can be arranged in parallel with the sixth inductor (L6). The fifth capacitor (C5), which is the target capacitor, can be arranged in parallel with the seventh inductor (L7).
