According to one embodiment, the operation of analyzing the preview image may include an operation of determining whether there is a portion in which the saturation of a first image to be captured based on the preview image is higher or lower than a reference value and thus requires supplementation. For example, if the electronic device (301) determines that the exposure of at least one area (e.g., an area including the sky) among a plurality of areas included in the preview image is greater than a reference value, the electronic device (301) according to one embodiment may determine that there is a portion in which supplementation is required as a result of analyzing the preview image. In one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can acquire the first image and the additional image at the same time. The electronic device (301) can also acquire the additional image after acquiring the first image.
[0067] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may acquire an additional image as a result of developing a raw image. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may store a raw image acquired through the camera (310) in the memory (330). According to one embodiment, the raw image may represent data that has not been processed by an image sensor (e.g., the image sensor (230) of FIG. 2). According to one embodiment, the first setting values of the camera (310) identified at the time the raw image is captured may be stored as metadata of the raw image. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may acquire an additional image by developing the first image based on the first setting values of the camera (310) by using (e.g., reading) the raw image stored in the memory (330). According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may acquire an additional image by developing the raw image by adjusting at least some of the first setting values. For example, an image file including a first image and an additional image may include a JPEG or JPG. The bit depth of the image file of the original image may be greater than the bit depth of the image file including the first image and the additional image (e.g., 8 bits).
[0068] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) stores the first image and the additional image as a single image file, and the additional image may be stored as metadata of the first image. At this time, the image file may be stored in a format of a common standard-dynamic-range (SDR) range, such as the joint photographic experts group (JPEG) format or the JPG format.
[0069] After this, the electronic device (301) according to one embodiment can display an image with improved brightness or saturation of the first image on the display (360) by overlaying an additional image on the first image. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can also render and obtain an image with improved brightness or saturation of the first image by synthesizing the first image and the additional image or adding the additional image on the first image using the first image as a base image. Through this, the electronic device (301) according to one embodiment can provide the user with an effect similar to that of an image with improved brightness or saturation of the first image being an HDR (high dynamic range) image.
[0070] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may include a camera (310) (e.g., the camera module (180) of FIG. 1), a processor (320) (e.g., the processor (120) of FIG. 1), a memory (330) (e.g., the memory (130) of FIG. 1), and a display (360) (e.g., the display module (160) of FIG. 1). According to one embodiment, the processor (220) may control the overall operation of the electronic device (201). For example, the processor (320) may be implemented in the same or similar manner as the processor (120) of FIG. 1. For example, the processor (320) may be implemented as an application processor (AP). For example, the processor (320) may also include an image signal processor (ISP) (340) (e.g., 340 of FIG. 3B, 260 of FIG. 2). According to one embodiment, the processor (320) can perform operations performed by the image signal processor (340).
[0071] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may display a preview image of a first object captured by the camera (310) on the display (360) based on the first setting values of the camera (310). For example, the first object may include a subject, a landscape, or an object.
[0072] According to one embodiment, the first setting values may include at least one of a first exposure value, a first color space, or a white balance value of the camera (310). For example, the first exposure value may include an exposure value determined based on a first shutter speed value, a first sensitivity value, and a first aperture value. For example, the first color space may include DCI-P3, Adobe RGB, sRGB, Rec. 709, or Rec. 2020. However, this is an example, and the first setting values may not be limited to the above examples.
[0073] In one embodiment, the processor (320) can analyze a preview image. In one embodiment, the processor (320) can analyze the preview image to determine second setting values of the camera (310) that are at least partially different from the first setting values. In one embodiment, an operation of the processor (320) analyzing the preview image to determine second setting values that change a first exposure value among the first setting values is described.
[0074] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may analyze the preview image to determine a first shutter speed value, a first sensitivity value, and a first aperture value based on a first exposure value of the preview image. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may analyze the preview image to determine a histogram representing the brightness of the preview image. According to one embodiment, the histogram may include a graph representing the number of pixels corresponding to the brightness of the image.
[0075] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may identify a first portion where clipping occurs in a histogram representing the brightness of the preview image. For example, the first portion may include a portion where white clipping occurs or a portion where black clipping occurs. According to one embodiment, the portion where white clipping occurs is a portion where an overexposure phenomenon of the camera (310) occurs, and may include a portion where information about a bright area in the image is lost. According to one embodiment, the portion where black clipping occurs is a portion where an underexposure phenomenon of the camera (310) occurs, and may include a portion where information about a dark area in the image is lost.
[0076] For example, if the number of pixels corresponding to the first brightness representing the first part of the histogram is greater than a specified first value, the processor (320) may determine that white clipping (e.g., 1012 in FIG. 10A and 1032 in FIG. 10C) has occurred in the first part. That is, if the processor (320) determines that the pixels corresponding to the first brightness in the histogram are cut off, the processor (320) may determine that the highlight part is saturated and white clipped. For example, if the processor (320) determines that white clipping (e.g., 1012 in FIG. 10A and 1032 in FIG. 10C) has occurred in the first part, the processor (320) may determine that the exposure value included in the second setting values is smaller than the first exposure value. For example, the specified first value may be set by a user or may be automatically set by the processor (320).
[0077] For example, if the number of pixels corresponding to a second brightness that is lower than the first brightness representing the first part of the histogram is greater than a specified second value, the processor (320) may determine that black clipping (e.g., 1022 in FIG. 10b, 1042, 1052 in FIG. 10c) has occurred in the first part. That is, if the processor (320) determines that pixels corresponding to the second brightness are cut off in the histogram, the processor (320) may determine that the shadow part is saturated and black clipped. For example, if the processor (320) determines that black clipping (e.g., 1022 in FIG. 10b, 1042, 1052 in FIG. 10c) has occurred in the first part, the processor (320) may determine an exposure value included in the second set values to be greater than the first exposure value. For example, the specified second value may be set by a user or may be automatically set by the processor (320). The specified first value and the specified second value may be the same or different.
[0078] According to one embodiment, the histogram may include a first histogram related to the R (red) channel of the preview image, a second histogram related to the G (green) channel, or a third histogram related to the B (blue) channel. According to one embodiment, the histogram may include a fourth histogram that is a combination of the first histogram, the second histogram, and the third histogram. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may analyze the first histogram related to the R (red) channel, the second histogram related to the G (green) channel, or the third histogram related to the B (blue) channel to determine the exposure level with respect to brightness for each channel. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may determine a second setting value (e.g., an exposure value) based on a result of analyzing the first histogram related to the R (red) channel, the second histogram related to the G (green) channel, or the third histogram related to the B (blue) channel.
[0079] In one embodiment, the processor (320) may determine a second exposure value different from the first exposure value so as to prevent clipping in the first portion based on the determination of the first portion. In one embodiment, the second exposure value may include an exposure value adjusted from the first exposure value by changing at least one of the first shutter speed value, the first sensitivity value, or the first aperture value.
[0080] According to one embodiment, an operation is described in which a processor (320) analyzes a preview image to determine second setting values that change a first color space among first setting values.
[0081] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) can analyze the preview image to determine the first color space of the preview image. According to one embodiment, the color space may include a standard specification in which the colors of pixels of the image are expressed. For example, the color space may be determined based on coordinate values in an xy coordinate plane.
[0082] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) can analyze the preview image to identify a second portion having a lower saturation than a specified value in the first color space. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) can identify the second portion based on the color saturation of the pixels of the preview image identified in the first color space. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) can identify the color saturation based on the positions (or coordinates) of the pixels identified in the first color space.
[0083] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may determine that a second portion having a saturation lower than the specified value has been identified if the color saturation is greater than a specified third value. For example, the processor (320) may determine that a color included in the preview image exceeds the range of colors that can be expressed in the first color space if the color saturation is greater than the specified third value.
[0084] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may determine a second color space different from the first color space based on identifying a second portion having a saturation lower than a specified value in the first color space. For example, the second color space may include DCI-P3, Adobe RGB, sRGB, Rec. 709, or Rec. 2020. However, this is an example, and the color space may include various color spaces. For example, the second color space may include a color space capable of expressing a wider range of colors than the first color space. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may determine the number or type of at least one additional image to be captured based on the second setting values through the camera (310). For example, the at least one additional image may represent an image for improving at least one of the brightness or saturation of the first image to be acquired based on the preview image based on the first setting values. The at least one additional image may include a recovery map or a y map. For example, the y map may include a gray scale image representing brightness information of at least one additional image that captured the first object, based on the second set of values.
[0085] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may determine second setting values based on the first setting values, and determine the number or type of at least one additional image based on the second setting values. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may determine the number of times the second setting values have changed based on the first setting values as the number of at least one additional image. According to one embodiment, the type of at least one additional image may include an additional image for improving the brightness of a first image to be captured based on a preview image or an additional image for improving the saturation of the first image.
[0086] For example, if the processor (320) determines that only the first color space among the first setting values is changed to the second color space, the number of at least one additional image may be determined to be 1. In this case, the at least one additional image may include an image captured based on the second color space.
[0087] For example, when the processor (320) determines second setting values in which the first color space among the first setting values is changed to the second color space and the first sensitivity value included in the first exposure value is changed to the second sensitivity value, the number of at least one additional image may be determined to be two. In this case, the at least one additional image may include an image based on the second color space and an image based on the second sensitivity value.
[0088] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may determine the number of at least one additional image captured of the first object as one based on the second setting values, regardless of the number of times the second setting values have changed based on the first setting values. For example, if the second setting values are determined as a second exposure value and a second color space, the processor (320) may obtain one additional image based on the second exposure value and the second color space.
[0089] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may acquire, through the camera (310), a first image captured of a first object based on first set values and at least one additional image captured of the first object based on the second set values and the number of objects. For example, the first image may include an image based on a preview image displayed on the display (360).
[0090] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may check the user's setting value related to brightness or saturation according to the user's preference. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may also acquire at least one additional image based on the user's setting value related to brightness or saturation. For example, the processor (320) may check an input regarding the user's preference. Based on the input, the processor (320) may check the setting value of the camera (310) including at least one of an exposure value, a color space, or a white balance value corresponding to the user's preference. Each of the setting values of the camera (310) for each of the exposure value, the color space, and the white balance value corresponding to the user's preference may be stored in advance in the memory (330). For example, the processor (320) may store the setting values of the camera (310) related to images acquired by the camera (310) as a usage history in the memory (330). The processor (3220) may also determine the setting values of the camera (310) for acquiring an image based on the usage history stored in the memory (330). Through this, the processor (320) may determine the setting values of the camera (310) and acquire an image even when there is no user input regarding the setting values of the camera (310) of the electronic device (301).
[0091] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) can simultaneously acquire a first image and at least one additional image through the camera (310). According to one embodiment, the processor (320) can store an image file including the first image and at least one additional image in the memory (330). According to one embodiment, the processor (320) can store the at least one additional image as metadata of the first image.
[0092] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may store information about first setting values of the camera (310) for the first image and information about second setting values of the camera (310) for at least one additional image as metadata of the first image.
[0093] Alternatively, according to one embodiment, the processor (320) may acquire at least one additional image based on a raw image acquired through the camera (310). According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may store the raw image acquired through the camera (310) in the memory (330). According to one embodiment, the raw image may represent data that has not been processed by an image sensor (e.g., the image sensor (230) of FIG. 2). According to one embodiment, the first setting values of the camera (310) identified at the time the raw image is captured may be stored as metadata of the raw image. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may develop and acquire the first image based on the first setting values of the camera (310) identified at the time the raw image is captured by using (e.g., reading) the raw image stored in the memory (330). According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may develop and acquire at least one additional image based on the second setting values using the raw image. According to one embodiment, the operation of the processor (320) developing the raw image may include an operation of adjusting the setting values of the camera (310) confirmed at the time the raw image stored in the memory (330) was captured, and acquiring an image based on the adjusted setting values. According to one embodiment, after the processor (320) acquires the first image and the at least one additional image, the processor (320) may delete the raw image stored in the memory (330). According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may store the at least one additional image and / or the second setting values as metadata of the first image. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may store the first image and the at least one additional image as one image file. For example, one image file including the first image and the at least one additional image may include JPEG or JPG.The bit depth (e.g., 8 bits) of an image file including the first image and at least one additional image may be less than the bit depth of the image file of the raw image.
[0094] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may analyze the preview image and determine that the brightness of a first region among a plurality of regions included in the preview image changes from a first brightness to a second brightness at a specified interval. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may store information about the first region, information about the first brightness, information about the second brightness, information about the duration of the first brightness, and information about the duration of the second brightness as metadata of the first image.
[0095] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may store information about an object included in the preview image as metadata of the first image. The processor (320) may analyze the scene of the preview image to obtain information about the object. The information about the object may include information about the subject (e.g., a person, an animal, an object). For example, the processor (320) may determine that the preview image is an image of a person, a landscape, or a food.
[0096] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may obtain an image in which at least one additional image is overlaid on a first image. According to one embodiment, the image in which at least one additional image is overlaid on a first image may include an SDR (standard-dynamic-range) image. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may obtain an image in which the brightness or saturation of the first image is improved by rendering the image by synthesizing the first image and the additional image or adding the additional image on the first image using the first image as a base image.
[0097] FIG. 3b is a diagram illustrating an image signal processor included in an electronic device according to one embodiment.
[0098] Referring to FIG. 3B, according to one embodiment, an electronic device (301) (e.g., the electronic device (301) of FIG. 3A) may include an image signal processor (ISP) (340). According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) may be included in a processor (320) (e.g., the processor (320) of FIG. 3A) or implemented as a separate component (e.g., included in a camera (310) (e.g., the camera (310) of FIG. 3A) or implemented as separate hardware). The processor (320) may control the image signal processor (340).
[0099] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may acquire a preview image of a first object captured through the camera (310) based on the first set values. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may transmit the preview image to the image signal processor (340).
[0100] According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) can analyze a preview image.
[0101] For example, the image signal processor (340) can determine whether there are parts that require supplementation because the brightness of the first image to be captured is darker or brighter than a reference value, based on the preview image. The image signal processor (340) can determine whether there are parts that require supplementation because the saturation of the first image to be captured is higher or lower than a reference value, based on the preview image.
[0102] For example, the image signal processor (340) may include an operation of checking information about the shooting mode of the camera (310) for the preview image. The information about the shooting mode may include information about a portrait shooting mode, a night shooting mode, a landscape shooting mode, a food shooting mode, or a pet shooting mode. [0103] For example, the image signal processor (340) can check information about an object included in a preview image. The image signal processor (340) can check the preset setting values (e.g., second setting values) of the camera (310) corresponding to the object. For example, the object may include food, a person, a building, a neon sign, a landscape, the sky, or a traffic light. However, this is only an example and may not be limited to the above examples.
[0104] According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) may determine second setting values of the camera (310), at least some of which are different from the first setting values, based on the analysis results of the preview image. For example, the first setting values may include a first exposure value and a first color space determined based on a first shutter speed value, a first sensitivity value, and a first aperture value. According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) may identify a first portion in which clipping occurs in a histogram representing the brightness of the preview image. According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) may determine a second exposure value, different from the first exposure value, so that clipping does not occur in the first portion, based on identifying the first portion. According to one embodiment, the second exposure value may include a value in which at least one of the first shutter speed value, the first sensitivity value, or the first aperture value is changed.
[0105] According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) can check the first color space of the preview image. According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) can analyze the preview image to check the second portion having a lower saturation than a specified value in the first color space. According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) can check the second portion based on the color saturation checked in the first color space. According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) can determine that the second portion having a saturation lower than the specified value is checked when the color saturation is greater than a specified first value. For example, the specified first value can represent a value checked as exceeding a range of colors that can be expressed in the first color space.
[0106] According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) may determine a second color space different from the first color space based on identifying a second portion having a lower saturation than a specified value in the first color space. For example, the second color space may include a color space capable of expressing a wider range of colors than the first color space.
[0107] According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) can determine the number of at least one additional image to be captured based on the second set values via the camera (310).
[0108] According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) may provide information about second setting values including information about a second exposure value and information about a second color space to the processor (320) as a result of analyzing the preview image. According to one embodiment, the image signal processor (340) may provide information about the number of at least one additional image to be captured based on the second setting values to the processor (320) as a result of analyzing the preview image.
[0109] According to one embodiment, the processor (320) may acquire at least one additional image through the camera (310) based on the analysis results of the preview image received from the image signal processor (340).
[0110] According to one embodiment, the operations performed by the image signal processor (340) may be performed by the processor (320). According to one embodiment, the operations performed by the processor (320) may also be performed by the image signal processor (340).
[0111] FIG. 3c is a diagram illustrating an analysis module according to one embodiment.
[0112] Referring to FIG. 3c, according to one embodiment, the analysis module (370) may include an image analysis unit (351), an information determination unit (352), an additional image determination unit (353), and a user preference determination unit (354).
[0113] According to one embodiment, the analysis module (370) may be stored in the memory (330) (e.g., the memory (330) of FIG. 3A). According to one embodiment, the analysis module (370) may be implemented as a single configuration of an image analysis unit (351), an information determination unit (352), an additional image determination unit (353), and a user preference determination unit (354). According to one embodiment, the analysis module (370) may be implemented as software. Depending on the implementation, according to one embodiment, at least a portion of the analysis module (370) may be implemented as hardware. According to one embodiment, the processor (320) (e.g., the processor (320) of FIG. 3A) or the image signal processor (340) (e.g., the image signal processor (340) of FIG. 3A) may perform operations using the analysis module (370).
[0114] According to one embodiment, the image analysis unit (351) can analyze a preview image captured through a camera (310) (e.g., the camera (310) of FIG. 3A). According to one embodiment, the image analysis unit (351) can analyze a histogram representing the brightness of the preview image, or a color space of the preview image. For example, the image analysis unit (351) can check whether there is a part in which clipping has occurred in the histogram representing the brightness of the preview image. For example, the image analysis unit (351) can check whether there is a part in the color space of the preview image that has a saturation lower than a specified value.
[0115] According to one embodiment, the information determination unit (352) can determine the exposure value of the camera (310) and setting values including the color space based on a histogram representing the brightness of the preview image or a color space of the preview image.
[0116] According to one embodiment, the additional image determination unit (353) may determine the type and number of additional images based on information (e.g., setting values) determined by the information determination unit (352). According to one embodiment, the types of additional images may include additional images for improving brightness and additional images for improving saturation.
[0117] For example, an additional image for improving brightness may include an image obtained by adjusting a first exposure value among the first set values to a second exposure value different from the first exposure value. For example, an additional image for improving saturation may include an image obtained by adjusting a first color space among the first set values to a second color space different from the first color space.
[0118] According to one embodiment, the user preference determination unit (354) can check the setting values of the camera (310) corresponding to the user setting value related to at least one of saturation or brightness according to the user's preference. Each of the setting values of the camera (310) for the exposure value, color space, and white balance value corresponding to the user's preference can be stored in advance in the memory (330).
[0119] The operations of the electronic device (301) described in the drawings below may be performed by the processor (320). However, for convenience of explanation, the operations performed by the processor (320) will be described as being performed by the electronic device (301).
[0120] FIG. 4 is a diagram for explaining an operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment of the present invention to obtain an additional image that improves at least one of brightness and saturation of a first image.
[0121] Referring to FIG. 4, according to one embodiment, an electronic device (301) (e.g., the electronic device (301) of FIG. 3A) may check a preview image of a first object captured by a camera (310) (e.g., the camera (310) of FIG. 3A) based on first setting values. For example, the first setting values may include a first exposure value, a first color space, and a first white balance value determined based on a first sensitivity value, a first aperture value, and a first shutter speed value.
[0122] In one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may analyze the preview image (410) to determine second setting values that differ at least in part from the first setting values. For example, the electronic device (301) may determine the second setting values that include a second sensitivity value that differs from the first sensitivity value and a second color space that differs from the first color space.
[0123] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can determine the number of at least one additional image to improve the brightness or saturation of the first image to capture the first object based on the first set values.
[0124] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may determine the number of at least one additional image to be two.
[0125] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can acquire a first image (410) captured based on the first set values.
[0126] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can obtain an image (420) captured based on a setting value that changes a first sensitivity value to a second sensitivity value and an image (430) captured based on a setting value that changes a first color space to a second color space.
[0127] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may obtain an image (440) in which the brightness and saturation of the first image (410) are improved by overlaying an image (420) captured based on a setting value that changes a first sensitivity value to a second sensitivity value and an image (430) captured based on a setting value that changes a first color space to a second color space on the first image (410). According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may synthesize the first image (410) and an additional image (an image (420) captured based on a setting value that changes a first sensitivity value to a second sensitivity value and an image (430) captured based on a setting value that changes a first color space to a second color space)) or may use the first image (410) as a base image and add an additional image on top of the first image (410) to render and obtain an image (440) in which the brightness and saturation of the first image (410) are improved. Through this, the electronic device (301) according to one embodiment can provide the user with an effect such that the image (440) with improved brightness and saturation of the first image (410) is an HDR (high dynamic range) image.
[0128] FIG. 5A is a flowchart illustrating an operation of an electronic device to acquire a first image and at least one additional image, according to one embodiment.

According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can determine the number by which the second setting values have changed relative to the first setting values as the number of at least one additional image.
[0138] For example, if the electronic device (301) determines second setting values in which only the first color space among the first setting values is changed to the second color space, the electronic device may determine the number of at least one additional image to be 1. At this time, the at least one additional image may include an image captured based on the second color space. For example, if the electronic device (301) determines second setting values in which the first color space among the first setting values is changed to the second color space and the first sensitivity value included in the first exposure value is changed to the second sensitivity value, the electronic device may determine the number of at least one additional image to be 2. [0146] According to one embodiment, in operation 535, the electronic device (301) may determine second setting values of the camera (310) that are different from at least some of the first setting values based on the results of analyzing the preview image.
[0147] According to one embodiment, in operation 537, the electronic device (301) may determine the number or type of at least one additional image to be captured of the first object.
[0148] In one embodiment, at operation 539, the electronic device (301) may obtain a raw image of the first object. In one embodiment, the raw image may represent data that has not been processed by an image sensor (e.g., image sensor (230) of FIG. 2).
[0149] According to one embodiment, the first setting values of the camera (310) that are identified at the time the raw image is captured may be stored in the memory (330) (e.g., the memory (330) of FIG. 3A) as metadata of the raw image.
[0150] According to one embodiment, in operation 541, the electronic device (301) may acquire a first image based on the first setting values based on the raw image. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may acquire the first image by developing it based on the first setting values of the camera (310) confirmed at the time when the raw image is captured, using (e.g., reading) the raw image stored in the memory (330).
[0151] According to one embodiment, in operation 543, the electronic device (301) may acquire at least one additional image based on the second setting values based on the raw image. For example, the image file may include JPEG. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may store information about the first setting values as metadata of the first image. For example, the image file may include JPEG or JPG. According to one embodiment, a bit depth of the image file including the first image and at least one additional image may be smaller than a bit depth of the image file of the original image.
[0153] FIG. 6 is a flowchart illustrating an operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment to acquire at least one additional image based on a second exposure value different from a first exposure value of a preview image.
[0154] Referring to FIG. 6, according to one embodiment, in operation 611, the electronic device (301) (e.g., the electronic device (301) of FIG. 3A) may analyze a preview image captured of a first object to determine a first exposure value of the preview image. For example, the first exposure value may include a first shutter speed value, a first sensitivity value, and a first aperture value.
[0155] According to one embodiment, in operation 613, the electronic device (301) may identify a first portion where clipping occurs in a histogram representing the brightness of the preview image. For example, the first portion may include a portion where white clipping occurs or a portion where black clipping occurs. According to one embodiment, the histogram may include a graph representing the number of pixels corresponding to the brightness of the image.
[0156] In one embodiment, the histogram may include a first histogram related to the R (red) channel of the preview image, a second histogram related to the G (green) channel, or a third histogram related to the B (blue) channel. In one embodiment, the histogram may include a fourth histogram that is a combination of the first histogram, the second histogram, and the third histogram.
[0157] According to one embodiment, in operation 615, the electronic device (301) may determine a second exposure value different from the first exposure value based on the identification of the first portion. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may determine the second exposure value so that clipping does not occur in the first portion. According to one embodiment, the second exposure value may include a value in which at least one of the first shutter speed value, the first sensitivity value, or the first aperture value is changed.
[0158] For example, the electronic device (301) may determine that white clipping has occurred in the first portion if the number of pixels corresponding to a specified first brightness representing a first portion of the histogram is greater than a specified first value. For example, if the electronic device (301) determines that white clipping has occurred in the first portion, the electronic device (301) may determine the second exposure value to be less than the first exposure value.
[0159] For example, the electronic device (301) may determine that black clipping has occurred in the first portion if the number of pixels corresponding to a designated second brightness that is less than a designated first brightness representing a first portion of the histogram is greater than a designated first value. For example, if the electronic device (301) determines that black clipping has occurred in the first portion, the electronic device (301) may determine the second exposure value to be greater than the first exposure value.
[0160] According to one embodiment, in operation 617, the electronic device (301) may acquire at least one additional image for improving the brightness of the first image based on the second exposure value. According to one embodiment, the at least one additional image may include an image for improving the brightness of a first portion of a histogram representing the brightness of the first image. For example, the histogram representing the brightness of the first image may be identical to a histogram representing the brightness of the preview image. According to one embodiment, the at least one additional image may include an image for preventing clipping from occurring in the first portion of the histogram representing the brightness of the first image.
[0161] For example, at least one additional image for improving the brightness of the first image may include one or more images. For example, the electronic device (301) may obtain at least one additional image from among an image in which only the first sensitivity value among the first set values is changed, an image in which only the first aperture value among the first set values is changed, or an image in which only the first shutter speed value among the first set values is changed. For example, the electronic device (301) may also obtain one image in which at least one of the first sensitivity value, the first aperture value, or the first shutter speed value among the first set values is changed. This is an example, and the number of at least one additional image may be determined in various ways.
[0162] According to one embodiment, in operation 619, the electronic device (301) may store an image file including a first image and at least one additional image in a memory (330) (e.g., the memory (330) of FIG. 3A). According to one embodiment, the at least one additional image may be stored as metadata of the first image. At this time, according to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may store information about a first exposure value of the first image and information about a second exposure value of the at least one additional image as metadata of the first image.
[0163] FIG. 7 is a flowchart illustrating an operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment of the present invention to obtain at least one additional image based on a second color space different from a first color space of a preview image.
[0164] Referring to FIG. 7, according to one embodiment, in operation 711, the electronic device (301) (e.g., the electronic device (301) of FIG. 3A) may analyze a preview image in which a first object is captured to determine a first color space of the preview image. For example, the first color space may include DCI-P3, Adobe RGB, sRGB, Rec. 709, Rec. 2020, or CG318-4K.
[0165] According to one embodiment, in operation 713, the electronic device (301) may identify a second portion having a saturation lower than a specified value in the first color space. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may identify the second portion based on the color saturation identified in the first color space. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may determine that the second portion having a saturation lower than the specified value is identified when the color saturation is greater than a specified third value. For example, the specified third value may represent a value identified as exceeding a range of colors that can be expressed in the first color space.
[0166] According to one embodiment, in operation 715, the electronic device (301) may determine a second color space different from the first color space based on identifying a second portion having a lower saturation than a specified value in the first color space. For example, the second color space may include DCI-P3, Adobe RGB, sRGB, Rec. 709, Rec. 2020, or CG318-4K. For example, the second color space may include a color space capable of expressing a wider range of colors than the first color space.
[0167] According to one embodiment, in operation 717, the electronic device (301) may obtain at least one additional image for improving the saturation of the first image based on the second color space.
[0168] According to one embodiment, in operation 719, the electronic device (301) may store an image file including a first image and at least one additional image in a memory (330) (e.g., the memory (330) of FIG. 3A). According to one embodiment, the at least one additional image may be stored as metadata of the first image. At this time, according to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may store information about the first color space and information about the second color space as metadata of the first image.
[0169] For convenience of explanation, FIG. 7 and FIG. 8 are illustrated and described separately, but the operations described in FIG. 7 and the operations described in FIG. 8 may be performed independently or simultaneously.

Based on the user input, the electronic device (301) may check a setting value of the camera (310) including at least one of an exposure value, a color space, or a white balance value corresponding to the user's preference. Each of the setting values of the camera (310) for each of the exposure value, the color space, and the white balance value corresponding to the user's preference may be stored in advance in the memory (330).
[0172] According to one embodiment, in operation 813, the electronic device (301) may acquire at least one additional image based on user-set values. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may acquire at least one additional image based on set values of the camera (310) for each of an exposure value, a color space, and a white balance value corresponding to the user's preference.
[0173] According to one embodiment, in operation 815, the electronic device (301) may store an image file including a first image and at least one additional image in a memory (330) (e.g., the memory (330) of FIG. 3A). According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may store the at least one additional image as meta information of the first image.
[0174] FIG. 9 is a flowchart illustrating an operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment of the present invention to store information about at least one area included in a preview image as meta information of a first image.
[0175] Referring to FIG. 9, according to one embodiment, in operation 911, the electronic device (301) (e.g., the electronic device (301) of FIG. 3A) analyzes a preview image in which a first object is captured, and determines that a first brightness for a first region among a plurality of regions included in the preview image changes from the first brightness to the second brightness at a specified interval.
[0176] According to one embodiment, in operation 913, the electronic device (301) may obtain information about a first area, information about a first brightness, information about a duration of the first brightness, information about a second brightness, and information about a duration of the second brightness.
[0177] According to one embodiment, in operation 915, the electronic device (301) may store information about the first area, information about the first brightness, information about the duration of the first brightness, information about the second brightness, and information about the duration of the second brightness as metadata of the first image in a memory (330) (e.g., the memory (330) of FIG. 3A).
[0178] FIG. 10A is a diagram for explaining an operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment of the present invention to acquire at least one additional image for improving brightness when a portion in which clipping has occurred is identified in a histogram representing brightness of a first image.
[0179] Referring to (a) of FIG. 10A, according to one embodiment, an electronic device (301) (e.g., the electronic device (301) of FIG. 3A) may acquire a preview image of a first object based on first setting values of the camera (310) (e.g., the camera (310) of FIG. 3A) through a camera (310). For example, the first setting values may include a first exposure value. For example, the first exposure value may be determined based on a first shutter speed value, a first sensitivity value, and a first aperture value. For example, the first object may include a subject, a building, or a landscape.
[0180] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may analyze the preview image to obtain a histogram (1011, 1012) representing the brightness of the preview image. For example, the histogram (1011, 1012) may include a graph representing the number of pixels corresponding to the brightness of the preview image.
[0181] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can determine that white clipping has occurred in the first portion (1012) when the number of pixels corresponding to the brightness representing the first portion (1012) of the histogram (1011, 1012) is greater than a specified first value. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can determine that the first portion (1012) of the histogram (1011, 1012) representing the brightness of the preview image has been clipped (e.g., white clipped).
[0182] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may determine setting values of the camera (310) to capture at least one additional image for improving brightness of the first portion (1012). For example, if white clipping is determined to have occurred in the first portion, the electronic device (301) may determine an exposure value darker than the first exposure value. For example, the electronic device (301) may determine an exposure value darker than the first exposure value by changing at least some of the first shutter speed value, the first sensitivity value, or the first aperture value.
[0183] Referring to (b) of FIG. 10a, according to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can obtain at least one additional image of a first object captured through the camera (310) based on second setting values of the camera (310) and a first image based on first setting values.
[0184] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may store the first image and at least one additional image as a single image file. According to one embodiment, the at least one additional image may be stored as metadata of the first image.
[0185] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may overlay at least one additional image on the first image. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may synthesize the first image and at least one additional image, or may use the first image as a base image and add at least one additional image on the first image to render and obtain an image that improves the brightness or saturation of the first image.
[0186] Through this, the histogram (1013) representing the brightness of an image in which at least one additional image is overlaid on the first image can be made free of clipping (e.g., white clipping).
[0187] FIG. 10b is a diagram for explaining an operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment of the present invention to acquire at least one additional image for improving brightness when a portion in which clipping has occurred is identified in a histogram representing brightness of a first image.

For example, the first setting values may be determined based on a first shutter speed value, a first sensitivity value, and a first aperture value. For example, the first object may include a subject, a building, or a landscape.
[0189] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may analyze the preview image to obtain a histogram (1021, 1022) representing the brightness of the preview image. For example, the histogram (1021, 1022) may include a graph representing the number of pixels corresponding to the brightness of the preview image.
[0190] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may determine that the second portion (1022) of the histogram (1021, 1022) representing the brightness of the preview image is clipped (e.g., black clipped). For example, the electronic device (301) may determine that black clipping has occurred in the second portion (1022) when the number of pixels corresponding to the brightness representing the second portion (1022) of the histogram is greater than a specified second value. For example, when the electronic device (301) determines that black clipping has occurred in the second portion (1022), it may determine an exposure value that is brighter than the first exposure value.
[0191] In one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may determine settings of the camera (310) to capture at least one additional image to improve brightness for the second portion (1022). For example, the electronic device (301) may determine an exposure value brighter than the first exposure value by changing at least some of the first shutter speed value, the first sensitivity value, or the first aperture value.
[0192] Referring to (b) of FIG. 10b, according to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can acquire at least one additional image and a first image by capturing a first object based on an exposure value brighter than a first exposure value of the camera (310) through the camera (310).
[0193] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may store the first image and at least one additional image as a single image file. According to one embodiment, the at least one additional image may be stored as metadata of the first image.
[0194] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may overlay at least one additional image on the first image. According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may synthesize the first image and at least one additional image, or may use the first image as a base image and add at least one additional image on the first image to render and obtain an image that improves the brightness or saturation of the first image.
[0195] Through this, the histogram (1023) representing the brightness of an image in which at least one additional image is overlaid on the first image can be made free of clipping (e.g., black clipping).
[0196] FIG. 10c is a diagram for explaining an operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment of the present invention to acquire at least one additional image for improving brightness when a portion in which clipping has occurred is identified in a histogram of each of a plurality of channels representing brightness of a first image.
[0197] Referring to (a), (b), and (c) of FIG. 10c, according to one embodiment, an electronic device (301) (e.g., the electronic device (301) of FIG. 3a) may acquire a preview image of a first object based on first setting values of the camera (310) (e.g., the camera (310) of FIG. 3a) through a camera (310). For example, the first setting values may be determined based on a first shutter speed value, a first sensitivity value, and a first aperture value. For example, the first object may include a subject, a building, or a landscape.
[0198] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may analyze the preview image to obtain histograms (1031, 1041, 1051) representing the brightness of the preview image. For example, the histograms (1031, 1041, 1051) may include graphs representing the number of pixels corresponding to the brightness of the preview image. For example, the histograms may include histograms related to multiple channels of the camera (310), such as an R (red) channel, a G (green) channel, and a B (blue) channel.
[0199] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) can determine that white clipping has occurred in a portion (1032) of a histogram (1031, 1032) of an R channel representing the brightness of the preview image.
[0200] According to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may determine settings of the camera (310) to capture at least one additional image to improve brightness for a portion (1032). For example, if white clipping is determined to have occurred in a portion (1032) of the histogram (1031, 1032) of the R channel, the electronic device (301) may determine an exposure value darker than the first exposure value.
[0201] Referring to (b) of FIG. 10c, according to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may determine that a portion (1042) of the histogram (1041, 1042) of the G channel representing the brightness of the preview image is clipped (e.g., black clipped). For example, if the electronic device (301) determines that black clipping has occurred in a portion (1042) of the histogram (1041, 1042) of the G channel, the electronic device (301) may determine an exposure value brighter than the first exposure value.
[0202] Referring to (c) of FIG. 10c, according to one embodiment, the electronic device (301) may determine that a portion (1052) of the histogram (1051, 1052) of the B channel representing the brightness of the preview image is clipped (e.g., black clipped). For example, if the electronic device (301) determines that black clipping has occurred in a portion (1052) of the histogram (1051, 1052) of the B channel, the electronic device (301) may determine an exposure value brighter than the first exposure value.
