AI Technical Summary
Existing odor traps in drain assemblies for walk-in showers are difficult to remove for cleaning and maintenance due to their compact design and limited accessibility, which hinders efficient maintenance and reduces the discharge rate when made narrower.
The odor trap features a rotatable removal element at one or both ends, which can be rotated from a non-protruding position to a protruding position using an upward force, facilitating easier lifting and removal from the drain body without tools.
This design enhances the ease of removal and maintenance of the odor trap, allowing for a more compact and narrower drain assembly with a high discharge rate, while maintaining accessibility for cleaning and maintenance.

Abstract
Description
[0001] Drain assembly, drain body for use in such an assembly and odor trap for use in such an assembly
[0002] Field of the Invention
[0003] The present invention relates to an odor trap for use in a drain assembly, a drain body for installation in a floor, provided with a recess for accommodating such an odor trap, and a drain assembly which comprises such a drain body and a matching odor trap, in particular for use in a walk-in shower .
[0004] Background
[0005] For esthetic reasons and in order to keep the useful surface of the floor of a walk-in shower at its maximum, the parts of drain assemblies for walk-in showers that remain visible after installation are preferably elongate and as narrow as possible . An elongate drain assembly of this type is known from Belgian patent no . BE 1018522 A5 and is commercially available under the trademark "Carrodrain" . The only part of the "Carrodrain" drain remaining visible after installation, is an elongate grate with a width of approximately 56 mm.
[0006] However , a demand for drains with even narrower grates has remained .
[0007] The principle of an odor trap ( also referred to as air trap or stench trap ) is that a part of the channel via which the water runs off is formed in such a manner that an impediment in the channel together with the water present prevents smelly air on the discharge side from reaching the user side . According to the insight of the inventors , the classic "gooseneck" is not practical in the case of drains for walk-in showers , because it is more susceptible to blockages due to its design, and because it is no longer accessible after installation without having to break open the floor . For this reason, walk-in showers use an odor trap comprising, viewed in the direction of flow, a first closing wall for closing off an uppermost part of the drain, and a second closing wall which serves to close off a lowermost part of the drain and is placed at a distance from the first closing wall , wherein the first and second closing wall , viewed in a horizontal direction, overlap . Some ways of producing such an odor trap in a horizontal pipe part are described in Dutch patent NL 1027800 C2 .
[0008] The "Carrodrain" drain uses a removable odor trap of limited height which is placed in a recess ( collection tank ) of the drain . The water to be drained runs along the entire periphery of the odor trap and enters the latter in order to be drained . It is a drawback of this type of odor trap that it cannot be made much narrower without this resulting in a significant reduction in discharge rate ( in case of mere scaling ) or a reduction in mechanical strength ( in case of the walls being made thinner ) . Since this odor trap could not be miniaturized further , it was not possible either to design a narrower drain assembly with an odor trap which can still be easily removed for cleaning or maintenance purposes .
[0009] An even more compact , in particular narrower , odor trap, which is still able to achieve a high discharge rate and which is still entirely accessible and removable after installation of the drain body, so that it can be cleaned and maintained efficiently, is known from Belgian patent no . BE1022376 in the name of De Denkfabriek BVBA .
[0010] It is a drawback of such compact odor traps that they may be difficult to remove due to the fact that , in use , they are , on the one hand, clamped in the drain body to a certain degree (which is necessary to ensure a sufficient degree of sealing of the connection openings ) and there is , on the other hand, very little free space to grasp the odor trap and to lift it out of the drain body . It is an obj ect of embodiments of the present invention to provide an odor trap which is very compact , but can be lifted out of the drain body more easily without the use of tools or separate aids .
[0011] Summary of the Invention
[0012] According to an aspect of the present invention, an odor trap for use in a drain assembly is provided, which odor trap comprises an elongate main body having , viewed along the longitudinal axis of the main body, two ends , and having , viewed in the normal position of use , a bottom side and a top side , wherein the odor trap comprises a removal element at or near at least one of the two ends , which removal element is rotatable about a substantially horizontal axle which is at right angles to the length direction of the main body, between a first position and a second position; wherein, in the first position, the removal element does not protrude beyond the bottom side of the main body, and wherein, in the second position, the removal element does protrude beyond the bottom side of the main body; and wherein the removal element can be moved from the first position to the second position by exerting an upward force on an upper part of the removal element .
[0013] It is an advantage of the odor trap according to the present invention that it comprises a removal element which makes it easier to lift the odor trap out of the drain body . The user can grasp the odor trap at the removal element ( or the removal elements ) and pull it upwards , as he would otherwise do with any type of handle . Due to the exerted upward force , the removal element will , unlike a standard handle , rotate from the first position ( the normal position during use ) to a second position which causes a part of the removal element to protrude under the bottom side of the main body, wherein the removal element pushes the drain body upwards . A lever effect , i . e . a multiplication of the upward force exerted by the user, can be achieved by j udiciously choosing, on the one hand, the distance between the point where the user grasps the removal element and the rotation axis of the removal element ( i . e . , the effort arm) and, on the other hand, the distance between the end of the protruding bottom part of the removal element and the rotation axis of the removal element ( i . e . the load arm) .
[0014] In an embodiment of the odor trap according to the present invention, the ratio between, on the one hand, the length of the portion between the upper part of the removal element and the substantially horizontal axle ( i . e . , the effort arm) and, on the other hand, the length of the portion between the end of the protruding part of the removal element and the substantially horizontal axle ( i . e . , the load arm) is at least 4 / 3 , preferably at least 3 / 2 , and more preferably at least 2 / 1 .
[0015] Said amplification factors provide a lever effect which users find to be very efficient .
[0016] In an embodiment of the odor trap according to the present invention, the odor trap comprises a removal element at or near both ends .
[0017] It is an advantage of this embodiment that the odor trap can be removed from the drain body using both hands , resulting in an easier and steadier removal .
[0018] In an embodiment of the odor trap according to the present invention, the rotation range of the removal element in the second position is limited by contact between a part of the removal element formed for this purpose and a stop provided on the main body .
[0019] It is an advantage of this embodiment that the removal element can be used as a conventional handle in order to pull the odor trap further out of the drain body after the second position has been reached .
[0020] In an embodiment of the odor trap according to the present invention, the upper part of the removal element comprises an angled end which is directed towards the respective end of the main body .
[0021] It is an advantage of this embodiment that the upper part can easily be pulled up across the entire rotation range of the removal element .
[0022] In an embodiment of the odor trap according to the present invention, the part which, in the second position, protrudes beyond the bottom side of the main body has a rounded shape .
[0023] It is an advantage of this embodiment that the rotation of the removal element is not needlessly inhibited by friction between the protruding part of the removal element and the contact surface of the drain body .
[0024] In an embodiment , the odor trap according to the present invention contains a first drainage channel situated between an inlet and an outlet , comprising , viewed in the flow direction, a first closing wall for the closing off of an uppermost part of the first drainage channel and a second closing wall placed at a distance from the first closing wall , for the closing off of a lowermost part of the first drainage channel , wherein the first and second closing wall , viewed in a horizontal direction, overlap; wherein the inlet extends substantially over the length of a first planar surface of the main body, which first planar surface is determined by the first closing wall ; wherein the second closing wall is situated in the main body; and wherein the outlet is situated in a second planar surface of the main body, situated opposite the first planar surface .
[0025] This embodiment is based on the insight that a particular odor trap can be obtained if the water is not allowed to flow in on all sides , but only on one side . The two closing walls which form the actual air trap and the outer wall which adj oins the drainage pipe are then situated in successive surfaces . As a result thereof , the unit can advantageously be designed as a very narrow quasi beam- shaped element which, on the one hand, makes a narrower drain possible and, on the other hand, renders the introduction and removal of the odor trap into and from the drain body very easy . By designing the inlet of the odor trap and of the collecting zone of the drain body in a j udicious manner , it is possible to achieve a discharge rate which is at least as high as that of the older, wider odor traps .
[0026] The use of the above-described removal mechanism in this embodiment is particularly advantageous , because it makes it possible to produce an extremely compact odor trap, which can still be removed from the drain body in a very simple manner .
[0027] In an embodiment of the odor trap according to the present invention, the distance between the first surface and the second surface is less than 20 mm.
[0028] It is an advantage of this embodiment that a drain assembly can be achieved with a grate which is not wider than 20 mm, in which the odor trap can nevertheless be removed and cleaned in a simple manner .
[0029] In an embodiment of the odor trap according to the present invention, the height of the elongate main body is less than 75 mm, preferably less than 50 mm.
[0030] It is an advantage of this embodiment that the odor trap can be used in a drain body of limited height , which makes installation of the drain assembly at locations which only offer limited installation height possible .
[0031] In an embodiment of the odor trap according to the present invention, the main body is provided with positioning means .
[0032] The positioning means may have any suitable shape , such as protrusions , grooves , studs and the like . These positioning means cooperate with corresponding elements of the drain body in order to ensure that the odor trap is fitted in the correct position, in particular with a view to achieving a good sealing between the outlet of the odor trap and the drainage channel of the drain body .
[0033] In an embodiment of the odor trap according to the present invention, the outlet is substantially round and provided with a sealing means in order to make a watertight connection with a drainage pipe possible .
[0034] The sealing means is preferably a ring made of a watertight and compressible material , such as rubber or another elastomer . The sealing means may also be an edge , groove or flange which adj oins a ring made of a watertight and compressible material and fitted to the drain body . The "substantially round" outlet openings may be , for example , circular, elliptical or oval , or may be in the shape of a polygon having rounded corners .
[0035] In an embodiment , the odor trap according to the present invention is provided with at least two compartments which each have an inlet opening and an outlet opening, with the at least two compartments being situated side by side .
[0036] It is an advantage of this embodiment that a higher discharge rate can be achieved without the user or fitter having to install several individual parts . A single compartmented odor trap then essentially consists of several j uxtaposed odor traps in one housing .
[0037] According to an aspect of the present invention, a drain body for installation in a floor is provided, which drain body is provided with a recess for accommodating an odor trap as described above , wherein the recess is configured in such a way that the or each outlet of the odor trap connects to a second drainage pipe provided on the drain body, and wherein the drain body is formed in such a way that the odor trap can be removed from the aperture after installation . It is an advantage of the drain body according to the invention that a very narrow drain can be achieved, whose odor trap ( also according to the invention) can still be removed in a simple manner, even after installation, with a view to cleaning or maintenance .
[0038] In an embodiment of the drain body according to the present invention, the aperture furthermore adj oins a collecting zone situated on the side of the inlet opening , which collecting zone is at least partly situated under the floor covering after installation .
[0039] This embodiment is inter alia based on the insight of the inventors that the flow rate of the entire channel , at a given maximum flow rate of the odor trap, is determined by the speed with which the water to be drained can be taken to the inlet opening of the odor trap . Contrary to the existing odor traps , the waste water can only flow into the odor trap according to the invention on one side . It is therefore an advantage of this embodiment that the water to be drained enters the channel from various sides , is collected on the good side of the odor trap in the collecting zone and from there flows into the odor trap at an optimum flow rate .
[0040] Since the collecting zone adj oins the aperture in which the odor trap is fitted, it is still possible to clean the collecting zone situated under the floor using a brush or a water j et which is introduced via the narrow opening for introducing the odor trap .
[0041] Due to the fact that this collecting zone , after installation, is situated at least partially under the floor covering , the presence of this collecting zone does not require a widening of the grate .
[0042] According to an aspect of the present invention, a drain assembly is provided, comprising a drain body as described above and an odor trap as described above . These and other technical effects and advantages of embodiments of the present invention will be explained below with reference to the attached drawings , in which :
[0043] Fig . 1 diagrammatically illustrates the action of an odor trap;
[0044] Fig . 2 shows a cross section of an odor trap;
[0045] Fig . 3 shows perspectives of an odor trap according to an embodiment of the present invention;
[0046] Fig . 4 shows the action of the removal element in an embodiment of the present invention; and
[0047] Fig . 5 shows a drain body according to an embodiment of the present invention .
[0048] In general , the present invention relates to an odor trap 100 for use in a drain assembly, a drain body 200 for installation in a floor, provided with an aperture for accommodating such an odor trap 100 , and a drain assembly which comprises such a drain body 200 and a matching odor trap 100 .
[0049] Fig . 1 is a diagrammatical cross section of a drain body 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention, provided with an odor trap 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention . The operational principle of this odor trap is known from Belgian patent no . BE1022376 in the name of De Denkfabriek BVBA. The drawing is not to scale and parts which are not necessary in order to understand the operation, such as the cover grate of the drain body, are not illustrated in the drawing .
[0050] In general , the odor trap 100 according to this embodiment comprises a drainage channel between an inlet 110 and an outlet 130 communicating therewith . Viewed in direction of flow, the odor trap 100 comprises a first closing wall 115 for closing off an upper portion of the first drainage channel and a second closing wall 125 placed at a distance from the first closing wall for closing off a lower portion of the first drainage channel , wherein the first and second closing wall , viewed in a horizontal direction, overlap . This combination of partial closing walls forms the actual trap . According to the invention, the odor trap 100 is formed as an elongate main body . After all , the odor trap 100 is designed to be as narrow as possible , so that a certain length is required in order to be able to guarantee a sufficiently high flow rate .
[0051] In a preferred embodiment , the main body is substantially beamshaped, except for the removal elements . The main body may be , but does not have to be , perfectly beam-shaped in the geometric meaning of the word; the expression "substantially beam-shaped" is understood to mean that the shape of the body is determined by a pair of parallel surfaces ( the left side 115 and right side 135 of the odor trap in Fig . 1 ) which are connected to each other at the top by a top surface which, in use , is horizontal , and which is provided with mutually parallel end surfaces ( not shown in Fig . 1 ) at the ends . The term "substantially beam-shaped" does not exclude that the main body may optionally be provided with positioning means , handles , carrying elements for a grate and such; that ribs of the main body are rounded or beveled; that the cross section of the main body may be of a shape other than a rectangle in certain locations ; or that opposite surfaces are not perfectly parallel .
[0052] The inlet opening 110 substantially extends along the length of a first surface ( i . e . , an outer surface ) of the main body, which first surface is determined by the first closing wall 115. The inlet opening may be provided with means to prevent impurities ( in particular hair and undesired obj ects ) from entering ; these may comprise a grate or one or more bars . The first surface is thus not completely closed; the missing lower portion forms the inlet opening 110 . The second closing wall 125 is situated inside the main body, preferably parallel with the first surface . The outlet 130 is situated in a second surface of the main body, situated opposite the first surface .
[0053] When the shower is being used, the water runs off across the floor and enters the drain body 200 along the entire length via the edges ( curved arrows ) . The water collects in the collecting zone 210 which adj oins the aperture where the odor trap 100 is situated, more particularly on the side of the inlet opening 110 . Via inlet openings 110 , situated at the bottom of the first closing wall 115, the water enters the odor trap 100 where , due to the principle of communicating vessels , it will reach the same height as the water situated in the collecting zone 210 . The maximum achievable height is thus determined by the height of the barrier 120 which is formed by the second closing wall 125. If sufficient water enters the drain body 200 , water will flow across the barrier 120 in the odor trap 100 and reach the drainage pipe 220 via the outlet 130 .
[0054] In other words , in use , the barrier 120 is higher than the highest point of the inlet opening 110 .
[0055] After use , water remains behind in the drain body up to the height of the barrier 120 . The water level will drop over the course of time due to evaporation . However , as long as the water is higher than the top of the inlet opening 110 , it is impossible for air to escape from the drainage pipe 220 via the odor trap 100 due to the cooperation between the first closing wall 115 and the second closing wall 125 (which, viewed in the horizontal direction, overlap ) .
[0056] In the proposed embodiment , the outlet 130 is situated on one side of the odor trap 100 and the inlet 110 extends entirely along the opposite side of the odor trap 100 .
[0057] The geometry of the odor trap according to the invention entails that , at floor level , only a distance W2 ( smaller than PA ) has to be bridged by means of a grate in order to cover the odor trap 100 . In this way, a significantly narrower drain is achieved .
[0058] Fig . 2 shows a cross section of an odor trap according to a specific embodiment of the present invention . The reference numbers used correspond to those which have been explained in the context of Fig . 1 . As the drawing is intended to illustrate the structure of the main body, the outlets 130 are not shown explicitly, in order not to render the drawing unnecessarily complicated . The illustrated odor trap contains positioning means 140 which are of a stepped design in this case ( this is the hatched portion in Fig . 2 , preferably one or more specimens of which of limited thickness are provided along the length of the main body, in order not to impede the above-described action of the odor trap ) . These positioning means 140 collaborate with a complementary element 240 ( see Fig . 5 ) in order to bring the odor trap to the correct location upon installation, and in particular to sufficiently compress a sealing ring of the outlet against a flange of the drainage pipe 220 of the drain body during installation, or vice versa . Stepped positioning means 140 have the advantage that they ensure an automatic and gradual horizontal pushing down of the odor trap 100 when it is being pushed downwards by the user into the provided aperture of the drain body 200 . Compared to positioning means which are only beveled, stepped positioning means 140 have the additional advantage that the occurring normal forces have no significant vertical component , so that the odor trap is not automatically pushed upwards again by the forces generated by the clamping action .
[0059] The action of the removal element which forms part of the odor trap according to the present invention will now be explained, without loss of generality by means of the specific embodiment illustrated in Figs . 3a / b and 4a / b . The reference numbers used correspond to those which have been used with reference to Fig . 1 and Fig . 2 . Figs . 3a / b shows the odor trap 100 , viewed from the outlet side 135, with the outlets 130 . Figs . 4a / 4b shows a partial cross section of the same odor trap 100 which illustrates in particular the action of one of the removal elements 150 .
[0060] The odor trap 100 comprises an elongate main body having, viewed along the longitudinal axis of the main body, two ends , and having, viewed in the normal position of use , a bottom side and a top side . The odor trap 100 comprises a removal element 150 at or near at least one of the two ends ( in the case illustrated in
[0061] Figs . 3a / b, on both ends ) .
[0062] The removal element 150 is rotatable about a substantially horizontal axle 160 which is at right angles to the length direction of the main body, between a first position ( illustrated in Fig . 3a and Fig . 4a ) and a second position ( illustrated in Fig . 3b and Fig . 4b ) . In the first position, the removal element 150 does not protrude beyond the bottom side of the main body, but in the second position the removal element 150 does protrude beyond the bottom side of the main body, in particular by means of load arm 152 .
[0063] The removal element 150 may be rotated from the first position to the second position by applying an upward force to an upper part 151 of the removal element 150 , wherein the removal element 150 may act as a lever ( see below) . This upper part is preferably angled in the direction of the respective end of the main body, so that the user can easily exert an upward force on the upper part 151 using a finger or a small aid .
[0064] The removal element 150 makes it easier to overcome the clamping force required to ensure reliable sealing of the drain and to lift the odor trap 100 out of the drain body . The user can grasp the odor trap at the upper part 151 of the removal element ( or the removal elements ) 150 and pull it upwards , like he would otherwise do with any handle ; this is shown diagrammatically by means of the arrows at upper part 151 in Fig . 3a and Fig . 3b .
[0065] In contrast to a conventional handle , the removal element 150 will rotate , due to the exerted upward force , from the first position ( in use the normal position) to a second position which makes a part 152 of the removal element 150 protrude under the bottom side of the main body, with the removal element 150 pushing the drain body 100 up . As a result of the rotation of the removal element 150 , a part 152 of the removal element 150 will therefore protrude downwards at the bottom of the odor trap 100 , where it forms a pushing point P on the drain body ( in Figs . 4a / b, only the relevant bottom of the drain body 200 is shown diagrammatically ) . The upper part 151 of the removal element 150 then acts as the effort arm of a lever , with the axle 160 being the fulcrum, the load arm of which is formed by the protruding part 152 which exerts force onto said pushing point P . A j udicious dimensioning of the effort arm and the load arm ensures a lever effect : if the effort arm is longer than the load arm, the force exerted by the user is amplified by a factor effort arm / load arm; thus supporting the removal of the odor trap . Without loss of generality, the effort arm in the illustrated example is approximately twice as long as the force arm, so that the force exerted by the user is approximately doubled due to the lever effect . Users regard such an amplification factor ( 2 : 1 ) as being very efficient . Other amplification factors may be achieved by varying the relative length of the effort arm and the load arm. In preferred embodiments of the invention, the amplification factor is for example at least 4 / 3 , or more specific at least 3 / 2 , or still more specific at least 2 / 1 .
[0066] By continuing to exert the upward force on the upper part 151 of the removal element 150 , the removal element 150 will rotate further , in which case the odor trap 100 is brought up further due to this lever effect . The protruding part 152 of the removal element 150 , and consequently also the pushing point P, will move in the direction of the respective end of the main body during this rotation . In order to make this move easily possible , the protruding part 152 of the removal element 150 is preferably rounded, and the materials of the removal element 150 and of the drain body 200 are preferably chosen such that no significant friction forces occur during this movement .
[0067] In addition, the rotation of the removal element 150 takes place up to the point where further rotation is prevented by contact of a part 153 of the removal element 150 formed for the purpose with a stop 170 of the main body . This situation is illustrated in Fig . 3b and Fig . 4b . From that moment , a further upward force on the upper part 152 of the removal element 150 will be transmitted onto the main body as a purely upward force , so that the odor trap 100 can for the remainder be lifted from the drain body 200 in the usual manner . The respective parts 153 / 170 of the removal element 150 which come into contact with one another and the main body are preferably formed in such a way that it is still possible for the user to exert the necessary upward force on the upper part 151 of the removal element 150 in the end position of the removal element 150 ; in the illustrated case , it can clearly be seen that , in the end position, the angled part of the upper part 151 is in a position in which it is still easy to pull it (upwards ) using a finger or a small aid .
[0068] Fig . 5 shows a drain body 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention . In the upper portion of the figure , the drain body 200 is shown partially, without an odor trap . In the lower portion of the figure , the entire drain body 200 is shown, with an odor trap 100 being installed in the space provided for the purpose .
[0069] The drain body 200 is intended to be installed in a floor . It is provided with an aperture for accommodating an odor trap 100 as has been described above . The aperture is configured in such a way that the outlet ( s ) 130 of the odor trap adj oin ( s ) a second drainage pipe 220 provided on the drain body . In this case , the sealing means provided for the purpose is / are compressed slightly, thus producing a hermetic seal at the location of the connection of the outlet ( s ) 130 with the second drainage pipe 220 . Without loss of generality, the proposed embodiment has two connections to the drainage pipe , with a view to using a compartmentalized odor trap having two outlets . The drain body 200 is formed in such a way that the odor trap can still be removed from the aperture after installation, for cleaning, maintenance or replacement . Despite the significant friction which is caused by the compressed seal ( s ) , it is relatively easy to remove the odor trap 100 , due to the presence of the above-described removal element 150 ( of which only the upper part 151 is visible in Fig . 5 ) . The illustrated drain body comprises positioning elements 240 which are configured to cooperate with positioning means 140 of an odor trap ( see Fig . 2 ) .
[0070] In the proposed embodiment , the aperture furthermore adj oins a collecting zone 210 situated on the side of the inlet opening 110 of the odor trap 100 to be fitted . After installation, the collecting zone 210 is situated at least partially under the floor covering , so that the width JV2to be bridged is not affected thereby . Nevertheless , the drain body 200 can be formed in such a way that the collecting zone can easily be cleaned after the odor trap 100 has been removed via the aperture in the drain body, for example using a brush or a water j et .
[0071] According to the present invention, an assembly with a drain body 200 according to the invention and an odor trap 100 according to the invention is also provided .
[0072] The illustrated drain body 200 has a peripheral flange which has a top surface 250 and extends substantially in a horizontal plane from the periphery of the inlet zone , above which the floor is provided, for example a tiled floor , a poured floor or another suitable floor covering . An adhesive water-sealing layer may be provided on this top surface 250 , as is described in more detail in Belgian patent BE 1018522 A5 , cited above , which is deemed to have been incorporated herein by way of this reference . Thus , it is also possible to provide an assembly with the drain body 200 according to the present invention, an odor trap 100 according to the present invention, and a sealing mat intended to be provided around the periphery of the drain body 200 , wherein a portion of the sealing mat overlaps with at least the outer periphery of the water-sealing layer . The illustrated drain body 200 is formed in such a way that the water to be drained off can enter across virtually the entire length . The water that enters near the ends of the drain body 200 is taken to the collecting zone 210 in an efficient manner as a result of j udicious design, from where it can enter the entry opening of the odor trap 100 . During normal use , the inflow groove of the drain body 200 ( including the aperture with the odor trap 100 ) is covered by a grate 260 , the top side of which preferably reaches the same height as the finished floor . The grate 260 is removable in order to give the user access to the inside of the drain body 200 and the likewise removable odor trap 100 .
[0073] Although the invention has been described above by means of specific embodiments , this was only done for illustrative purposes and does not limit the scope of protection of the present patent .
[0074] The person s killed in the art will understand that possible variations of the proposed examples fall within the scope of protection of the patent , which is defined by means of the attached claims .
